Well, every where i go it seems to tell me that this is the place to get my questions answered about this device, so excuse me if i start a repeat thread. ( i searched and found nothing that answered my questions so far)
i have a cingular 8125 with 2.25 ROM, it seems, and use T-Mobile service. I have already unlocked the SIM lock using Lokiwiz MSL, (thanks!) and the voice and text messaging works perfectly, however obviously no data and MMS setting are loaded for T-Mo usage. I have looked and looked for places to apply the proxy settings to simply allow a new connection rather than flashing my ROM to i suppose a T-Mo or custom variant? canot find the screens, only allows DNS and Wdns settings. Obviously this is the rom that everyone is having problems CID unlocking, but i have heard around that the rom could be downgraded and then CID unlocked using lokiwiz02B, tried this using Cingular_RUU_1[1].8.11.1.WWE.ship and the installer told me it was not an up to date version, and i needed a newer installer to do this, no progress bar, and the PPC displays the 3 color bootloader screen and freezes. battery out, battery in reboots fine. Honestly, im looking for a little help in which direction to go, do i need (or is it possible?) to put a different rom on this device? and is this what i need to do to enable the settings i desire? (i use the 5.99 T Mobile Web package on my Nokia 9300 (also unlocked) and it works fine) If so, how exactly do i work this since the installers i can find don't seem to work...? Thank you for taking the time to read this post and thanks in advance for any help.
Anyone have any ideas?

posted this on howardforums too.. newbie to ppc. i have a quick question. i am going to be tweaking my unlocked cingular 8125. i am using the phone for tmobile. when i put my tmobile simcard in, did that really turn my 8125 into an MDA? reading the threads, i've noticed they are essentially the same device. now can i use roms, tweaks that are made for cingular 8125s or MDAs for my unlocked phone? do i just read the MDA threads or do i have to read 8125 threads or both? i am confused. thanks in advance.

Stay within the Wizard forums and you'll be just fine.. =)
Simply putting your T-MO SIM in won't do anything but get you phone netowrk access. You probably still need to configure data account info and whatnot.
If you are satisfied with your current ROM I wouldn't go changing it. If however you have a need for Direct Push mail (requires an Exchange SP2 mail account) or have stability problems, or you are adventurous, well then read on.....
You have several choices as far as ROMs go. You say you're on T-MO USA... You might be interested in the excellent custom T-MO ROM created by xelencin, available in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=44631
It is basically the latest Qtek (another brand of Wizard device) ROM with customizations specific to T-MO USA. xelencin (a forum member) made it super easy for you T-MO folks who have not CID unlocked yet...he scripted CID unlocking into the updgrader. You'll find out about CID and SIM unlocking and lots more as you read up on the forums. To answer your first question though, a CID lock is basically an attempt to keep folks from using ROMs from other providers. For example, in its stock state, a Cingular 8125 will not allow a Qtek or Imate ROM to be installed. When the 8125 is "CID unlocked" it essentially becomes carrier independant, and any ROM will install. That's it in a simplified nutshell anyway.
Like I said...browse the forums, ask questions, and be brave. =) I recently created a ROM upgrader that will allow you to easily return an 8125 to 100% stock (Cingularized) condition if needed, so don't be afraid to try other ROMs.
thanks for the quick reply. i just updated to the latest tmobile rom. everything seems to be going smoothly right now. quick question though. is my cingular 8125 an MDA right now? (besides the look). i want to do some more tweaking, but i dont know if i should read about MDA hacks or 8125 hacks? thanks in advance. this is a good useful site. thanks.
Ok, i'll be receiving my T Mobile MDA this week. I want a clean ROM, and the best radio. But I still want all the functions/features to work (MMS, etc.).
If i understand right, it would be using this radio upgrade, the 2.47.11 rom. Is that correct?
And for the ROM, I could use Molski's, or Ell's AKU3.2.
I'm not really sure on all the terminology, like AKU, or IPL/SPL....so some help would be great. I've tried to use the WiKi on here, but some parts are left out. Thanks.
You mean Wizard MDA Vario Rom Upgrade???

no i'm from the US, getting the US T MO MDA. Looking for a clean rom with nothing in the rom that is carrier specific; i.e. splash screens, color schemes, anything like that. I want the best radio upgrade and the best rom.
May I suggest you live with the MDA at least a month before you flash it? The 2.47 radio rom is the best I've ever used. I'm using T-Mobiles 2.26 rom. If you don't want the custom T-Mobile options that come with the ROM you don't have to load them. Just do a hard-reset and when it says it's loading the custom cabs just do a soft reset and load the ones you want.
I had an MDA before, a couple months ago, and loved it, but had to return it. Now I am porting my line over to T MO, and I remember doing the 2.24 upgraded rom when i got that one...and it was great. One thing I remember not liking about it though was my MMS. I couldn't send picture messages when connected to wifi. Has there been a fix for this?
no fix
im not sure there is a fix for sending mms when on wifi. the phone uses GPRS to access the MMS server on the tmo network . When wifi is on then GPRS usually drops. if i were you i would just send the picture message as an email. that way there are no messaging charges. you can send it to their phone # [email protected] and all other carriers have the same type of email set up
here is a site with all the cellphone email addresses http://www.hiptools.net/sms/
I got me a Touch Diamond in the rounder shape of the T-Mobile MDA Compact IV. It came in a sealed box from eBay and I've used unlocking software that I also found on eBay. As it turns out, this software seems to originate from this forum.
As far as I've researched it, right after the lock was removed, the phone started sending SMS messages to the number SMS032837 each time it is reset (since I've never used this phone locked it *could* have done this already, but I doubt it). Even if I switch off the GSM radio, and then reset, the phone waits for the radio to come back on and immedately sends a message.
I have no clue to what's the message is about or whoever is the recipiant but that's not the main issue here; it should not do this, period.
ROM: 1.37.110.3
Radio: 1.20.OliNex
Protocol: 52.26a.25.09U
Anyone any idea what is going on?
TIA,
XDArjen
sorry i dont have any idea
try this steps
1-try hard reset
if not work
2- you have an old ROM so
upgrade it to the latest ROM for your country or use cooked ROM if you want
Could a program similar to RemoteTracker be installed on your Diamond ?
That would explain the SMS, as the software detects that you changed the SIM card.
yea sounds like some program like remotetracker, try flashing a new ROM, as i assume it's build into the ROM by the seller, no idea why though.

Hi,
I`ve got MDA Compact IV on T-Mobile UK with original ROM and Radio (I just need to) and I`ve noticed that after every re-boot it sends above mentioned by you text.
Actually, it sends 2 texts: 1st to 32837 (on the on-line bill it`s clasified as
"unbranded" and it`s free of any charge)
2nd to 100203005 (clasified as "SMS text messaging" and it is also free).
I was surprised as well, so started to investigate.
I`ve found that above texts got something to do with W`n Walk service and T-Mobile My Faves and they are like a system messages.
They are NOT using any of the tariff allowances and they are completely free.
I`m sure because I`m checking my bill very carefully every month and it is my 3rd bill since I started using Compact IV.
I think that every HTC Diamond and MDA Compact IV sends those texts when logging into GSM Networks, but not every network provider shows them on their bills. With T-Mobile it shows on My T-Mobile On-Line account, but not on any paper or electronic bill.
There is more info about the case on other forums, just "google" them numbers and you will find it.
So, DON`T PANIC, everything is in order.
P.S.
My handset is unlocked and I was using foreign SIM card with, whilst on holiday and I haven`t noticed any extra charges for above texts, nor any other problem.
Regards.

Hey snark_be,
I'm not sure, it's a brand new T-Mobile that I got in a sealed box. The owner got it as an upgrade but didn't want it. So it came locked to T-Mobile and I had to unlock it since I'm not a T-Mobile customer.
Could T-Mobile be using this tracking method? The seller of the unlocker could have added it, I don't know, he hasn't answered my email (yet).
The SMS goes anytime the device boots, not just after inserting the SIM.
HTC ROM upgrade site rejects my serial number if I want to download a new ROM.

That was the plan, but that seem's a bit of a hornet's nest. Can I assume safely that the T-Mobile is a true HTC Touch Diamond? Will I be able to return to non-brick if something doesn't work? I mean when I install Hard-SPL first (it's installed already by the unlocker, but an older version, like 1.24)?

Tom, they show up on my bill, so I have to pay for them. And my provider logs them as International calls.
I don't have the luxury of sitting idle because it make the device useless as a phone. I will peruse the forum about this matter but I was already planning upgrading the ROM as I find the device very unresponsive.
have a look in the rom section here and install a new one

Just flash the latest HardSPL, 1.93 I think, and then head over to the Diamond Wiki and download/flash the newest WWE ROM you find (1.94 I think).
Guys, I have a Sprint HTC Touch Diamond which is flashed to cricket, but I can only talk and text. Is there a way I can get MMS and Mobile web to work? I have tried to install some of the cabs listed here, but none of them has worked. I have tried a couple of Cricket stores and they keep saying they can't fully flash Sprint HTC Touch Diamond. I know there are guys in here who have been able to get Cricket MMS and Mobile web working on Sprint HTC Touch Diamond.
Many thanks folks

short advise comment-- Pegasus ROM for cricket.
Your internet will work, your text will work, your GPS will work.
I got 3.0 PRO running and it was the best most well scripted ROM I have found ever.
I have tried over 50 ROM's easily ffor two seperate HTC phones on cricket. Pegasus by far is the best out of the box.
showthread.php?t=578478
I second Pegasus.
even the stock sprint rom will work if properly configured.
your epst settings are critical for working web/pix
on the stock rom you have to remove cmguardian before your settings will stick in windows.

the diamond is basically the same as its predecessors.
Good night my fellow modders. Tonight i come with a particular query, mainly, how do i go about troubleshooting the 3G connection of the motorola razr i. Ever since i flashed Omar's Motorola 4.1.2 Rom from Jan-01-2014, i haven't been able to get internet access through my carrier (Not even through 2g) and ive already checked its not a carrier issue (Since i can use my simcard to browse the internet in another phone just fine), i even tried doing a nandroid restore from the stock firmware i had previous to starting this adventurous task to get things working again, but even then the mobile broadband service is a no-no.
I'm at a loss on what to do, since i've already tried reflashing the ROM, reset-ted the phones APN's, and i've also done the suggested file modification of the losialert timer to both, 1000 and 500 (as seen in the same thread). However those efforts have been to no avail and im quite at a loss on what to do.
Im sorry if my english isnt fully understandable (Its not my native languaje) and im also sorry if this isnt the righ section to post about it, but i cant post directly in the thread since I'm a new member. I thank you beforehand for any and all guidance or help you can offer me.
Don't worry, English is not native language for most of forum users.
First of all buy any pre-paid card from different carrier or borrow it sim-card from friend and test it.
I had similar situation with Virgin Mobile. We have quite few operators in my country and I tested all of them but for this I wasn't prepared. I had my new RAZR i and there was no option to use internet with Virgin Mobile.
After few days of fight with different ROM, modding system, installing apps to APN's I figured it was sim-card. Some carriers have old sim-cards which have something wrong with MCC and MNC code and all phones can work on it but not Android 4.1 and above caused APN automation.
I even called to Virgin to ask for changing sim-card but they said they don't have different version of sim-cards, so I asked "WHAT, so every people in Your network doesn't have internet on Android 4.1+??!!" and they said "Yes, it seems so".
And there was no other way but change carrier. Now I have fully working internet without any modifications.
Sorry for so long and boring reply but for my almost 10 years working with mobile phones it was first situation like this.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my query. Unfortunately, i believe your case doesn't apply to me, since i had no issue using the internet with my operator (Telcel) before flashing the new ROM. I've also already called my operator and they made several procedures to try and reestablish my service, however none of them worked, but they assure me it's a problem with my device, since their service is working correctly.
I have no idea what to do now, but i hope can get the minimum required limit i need to ask for support directly on the thread ;(.
I don't know if this will help.
I had this problem with my brothers phone (galaxy s4 mini) last night. Data wouldn't turn on in anyway. Flash in new ROM from recovery didn't did the trick, nor a nandroid did. The only way I have got it to work was flashing a stock ROM through ODIN. In this case it would be RSD lite. Maybe it I'll work, but be aware of the flashing problems red lite can give. Read it a bit. Good luck!

Do you have the correct APN entries?? You might need to add it manually...
That happens because it doesn't auto configure (correctly, or none at all) for some carriers because I don't have all the carriers in apn-config.xml -- while your specific carrier ROM might have had it already configured and a specific xml list for them.
If you reset APN's and see all the appropriate ones added it might be configuring a wrong ones by default according to the data from the apn-config.xml one in my ROM, just configure accordingly to your carrier information
Note 1: My ROM does not touch the radio, and since the radio images are international anyway it does not make sense to flash recovery images or anything ... the only problem (assuming you did not break anything in hardware during ROM flashing) comes from the android /system partition which is prone to have incorrect carrier settings for data configurations... any bad number or password updated on your carrier it would be configuring something else by doing "reset to default"...
Note 2: To save the APN entry don't exit ... press the options menu and hit save when done modifying -- else it won't remain saved!
The problem starts when You updated from 4.0.4 to 4.1.2??

Did you try to change the APN settings before you tried this? I'm only asking because I'm considering this option, but i would like to rule it out as my final option, because since i started having this issue I've been reading a lot, and the way you fixed your problem sounds like the stock ROM corrected your issue by giving you the default APN's for your carrier.

Thanks a lot for getting out of your way to help me Omar; After troubleshooting the device and several talks with my network carrier I've managed to get a so-so signal. I'm not sure if your ROM configures correctly or not the APN'S of my carrier (Telcel) because when i edited them everything was configured as it was supposed to be (I'm not sure about the password since i can't see it though), the only thing that was missing was the APN for GPRS, but I've been reading several forums and almost no android device needs this in addition to the 3G APN (I've added it nonetheless but the device isn't actively using it, my guess is that you've got to choose either 3g or GPRS); I also called my carrier, and the allegedly reset-ed my service.
I'm still not sure if the device is working properly, mainly because the internet access through the mobile network has become very unstable (Sometimes i get disconnected randomly, and turning on the Wi-Fi gets me disconnected automatically), and even though the radio almost always gets an H+ signal (Which is kinda funny, because i used to get 3G more consistently before) i don't think this is normal behavior. I think it may have to be with the los alert, because in my desperate attempts to get things working, i reflashed your ROM and it was set to 1000 once again and I also think that the hardware can't be broken because i wouldn't be able to connect to the data service otherwise.
Because of this i would like to ask two very specific queries, is there a way to flash this setting without flashing the entirety of the zip file?; And in case there isn't, if i flash the zip with the new configuration, and then proceed to perform a nandroid backup of my previous build, will i lose the new 00radio configuration?
I will be tinkering with the device this weekend and will report back if i can find whats wrong, just in case it's something else and somebody needs help troubleshooting this in the future. Thanks to everyone that has contributed so far, i wouldn't have learned so much in so little time without your help.

Hmm, don't know for sure. I have made some changes within the APN list to get it working, didn't work. But the rare thing was that the cm11 one did have data and when he flashed his stock back with a nandroid or a stock zip file data wouldn't turn on anymore. So I can't rule out that it was the APN list that was making trouble, because even with stock it did not work. Only by flashing through Odin it worked. Radio hasn't been flashed in that process.
