Hi,
I have a Diamond which I've recently flashed with Gen.Y's R5 NLD rom and radio 1.17
At first everything was fine. However, since a few days when I connect the diamond to my (windows 7 x64) PC I get a message "USB Device not recognized". I've reinstalled Mobile Device center to no avail.
I've also tried unchecking "Enable advanced network functionality", but that neither helped.
Luckily I can synchronize activesync through bluetooth, but it's really slow, also for files.
Internet connection through USB works fine though.
Anybody got an idea what I could do?
here to help
1. make sure you have the latest windows mobile device center
2. plug the device into usb port
3. go to control panel administrative tools - computer management - device manager
4. click on universal serial bus controllers and uninstall any usb root hubs and usb composite device
5. unplug the device
6. restart the computer
7. plug in your device
That's me again
Ok, when I finally decided to upgrade my Tab thank to your help I discovered that the connection via the USB is not working at all !
I have Kies and obviously the drivers are installed.
When I connect the Tab to the PC i get the 3 options for choice:
1- Samsung Kies
2- Media player
3- Mass storage
When I choose the Kies option the Kies can't recognize and connect the Tab even after the troubleshooting process.
When I choose the mass storage and after the mount also nothing happen and there is no new drives in My Computer.
I tried to connect the Tab to PC with no drivers for Samsung at all and
strangely, the same effect.
There was no notification about new hardware connected to the PC and the question about installing drivers for that new discovered hardware ?!
I suspect that is some thing wrong with the cable although I can charge the Tab and some kind of recognition is established between the PC and the Tab.
Do you use any usb hubs or extentions? If yes.. don't use it. You have to connect your tab directly to the usb port on your pc with the original cable..
If you want go to connect as usb storage, you have to change the usb connectivity on your tab:
system settings > wireless and networks > USB > Connect to PC
If you want ODIN to recognize ur tab, you need to turn on the USB debugging mode:
System settings > applications > development > Check USB Debugging.
For kies, well.. it's always a little unreliable.
The USB cable is connected to the USB port on the mother board
The debugging option is checked
When I run Odin, the ID:COM window is empty.
That's means NO CONNECTION
OK, I solved the problem with new original USB cable

please dont use any USB hubs...connect it to the USB port on the motherboard side....normally on the rear side for the Desk tops.....on the laptop all ports are directly connected normally...
secondly, what is your config? ROM?Kernel?please state your current configuration which can allow others to understand the situation.
Thanks
yeah i dont use usb hub i connect it directly i tried it on my laptop but its not working
my o2x dont say that usb debugging is connected it only charge
im on stock GB now 2.3.4 v20g
Don't want to hijack this thread, just got the same problem. (Not a complete noob here, rooted lots of different devices)
Bought a used 2x today. Froyo 2.2.2 german stock on it.
It just doesn't show the prompt that USB is connected
Tried:
- LG Mobile Driver from version 2.x.x up to 3.7.2
- on Win7 32 bit, Win7 64bit, Win XP 32 bit on various USB ports
- LG PC Suite obviously doesn't connect too
- checked/unchecked USB debugging, USB mass storage and all the obvious settings
- tried different cables
Would be really great if someone experienced could point us in the right direction.
EDIT:
After lots and lots of google I found out about a menu when dialing: 1809#*990#
With these options available:
CP Image Download
FET Disable
FET Enable
AP UART
CP UART
AP USB
CP USB
CP UART gave me at least a life sign once by saying that Windows wasn't able to recognize the device.
Is this issue really unsolvable?
Sorry for the bump, but I got some update.
when dialing the above mentioned 1809#*990# in the Port menu, switching from default AP USB to AP/CP UART gave me life signs.
After switching to AP UART I linked the Unknown device driver to lgusbdiag.inf located in C:/ProgramFiles(x86)/LG United Mobile Driver.
Suddenly it started installing it and is now recognized as: LGE Platform Android USB Device.
Once disconnected I lose USB again, I'm able to recreate the first steps though even in default AP USB mode by now.
The only thing I need USB for is for flashing a custom recovery but the only thing I don't have is ADB somehow : / Clockwork telling me: device not found.
Any help on this one?
any idea guys about my problem?
Have you tried my method?
After manually installing drivers with CP UART on, switching back to default permanently enabled access with default AP USB settings as well.
i tried that but it only charge
theres a weird thing in my cp when i switch to cp uart my o2x says it charging even i dont connect it to my pc or charge it
Ap uart - p990 / p999
I have LG P999. rooted and cyanogen.
None of the special DTMF dialing # codes is not working (also code changed from 990 to 999) (i sow some other in another posts)
is anybody know a way to change to AP UART by software (with eclipse...)
or with a special cable?
i need to use AP UART - meaning to have a serial com in AP(app).
Thanks,
Tamir
guys,
Have you tried to install MyPhone Explorer and try the same....it can connect your device via wifi,USB or Bluetooth....so some way should work....
any Android version above Froyo(included) should work....I use this always...one of very useful and bug free apps.
Try it
My LG L90 D415 on CM11 will not tether. The hotspot works, but tethering does not. I connected via USB to a PC that has broadband internet from a cable modem. I ticked the USB tethering box. My PC searched windows update for the drivers, but only found 4 out of 5 drivers. The drivers it found are: USB Composite Device, LGE AndroidNet USB Modem #4, LGE AndroidNet USB Serial Port (COM9), and USB Input Device. The driver that failed was LGE AndroidNet NDIS Ethernet Adapter #2. I am running CyanogenMod version 11-20141201-UNOFFICIAL-W7. I'd really like to tether, would you please tell me how this can be done?
I am looking for the drivers for my PC to run the LG D415. I have CM11-20150216-NIGHTLY-w7. After I plug the phone into the computer. The only driver that fails is the driver for the modem.
For over a year my phone had no issue connecting to my computer via usb cable. I could transfer files back and forth via adb no problem. It stopped being recognized about a month or two ago, So I've been using adb over network.
It doesn't show up in lsusb, but it does charge.
- I thought maybe it was the cable, so I tried a different cable.
- I thought it was the usb port on the computer, so I tried other usb devices. Phone charges when plugged into computer though.
- I thought it might be the connections of the cable to the phone and computer, So I cleaned them with alcohol.
- I thought maybe the connections on the mainboard of the phone, So I pulled the phone apart and cleaned the connections with alcohol.
- I thought maybe adb needed to be updated/reinstalled, so I did that.
So here's my predicament. I was updating LineageOS and there was a problem with the firmware so I reset my phone without thinking. That deleted all my files on the sdcard as well as the system. So I'm only able to use twrp (recovery, no OS). But the phone should be able to mount still since twrp allows MTP.
Any ideas what I can do to get the phone to be recognized by the computer.
Stats:
phone: OnePlus 3T - up to date TWRP only, formerly LineageOS
computer: Ubuntu 18.04, up to date adb and fastboot

I would grab different cables and plug the phone on different computers (Windows, MAC)
I suppose the only way of inserting a file to the phone is through USB at this point.
I would suspect if everything has been done then it might be the port. Might pay to buy a replacement part for the port.

It is possible to add files to a phone without ADB by using an OTG USB key and use TWRP File Manager to copy them from /usb_otg to /sdcard.
Sent from my OnePlus 3T using XDA Labs
I had a problem in the past where only my original cable worked to transfer data. I do not even try to use a different cable anymore.
You are running Ubuntu, You see any activity on dmesg when you plug your cable?
You definitely need to test on another computer. As I understood you took your computer apart before testing on a different computer. Sometimes testing on a different USB port is not enough because they may be controlled for the same controller. So if one fails or sends low voltage, for example, both will have the same problem.
I personally would test it on a windows machine with updated USB drivers.
