hello i have downloaded 3.2 rom in my iMate kjam ..everything is right but i cant keep mp3 as my message tone i can just keep as ringtone cant keep as sms tone...where is the option to keep as sms tone ....as its mentioned in 3.2 rom that mp3 can be set sms tone also........in which folder i have to copy mp3 song to keep as sms tone....i have already placed in window directory but i cant see mp3 in dialog box under sound and notification..pls help me and let me know..

I have the MP3's I want to use as ringtones in the main folder of my SD card and then the Wing automatically sees it and I just add it. Stock ROM, nothing different.
ya i can use them as ring tones for calls but not as incoming text messages
I have found that you can use mp3s as Text Message alerts if they are placed in the storage card\my documents folder rather than the storage card\my documents\my ringtones folder
I still have not been able to use them as alarm sounds without putting them as wav files in the main Windows folder which I don't care to do. But for system alert sounds, this seems to work

Im just wondering how you change your text message allert to a song you have on your phone i got the ringtone in my ringtone folder on my device not storage and it doesnt find it
alright, first convert the song you want into a .wav file and then just put it in the windows folder. that's simple. check again your text message alert you will find your song and then use it.

I have had an Xperia for about 6 months now and one thing that i have been unable to do is set a custom text tone. For some reason it will only let me select from the default tones. I would be grateful if somebody could guide me to a way round this so i can set my own text tone.

Where is your mp3 song? it must be in the root directory of the SD Card or inside Xperia "My documents" folder.
Then you should be able to select it on settings --> personal --> phone
ive wanted a custom text tone aswel but without luck as yet
try out with wav files rather then mp3 ones
not sure if it support mp3 for old basic pda functions such
as notifications it may only be for ring tones it support mp3

No, it does support mp3 for notifications. I currently have an mp3 for new sms.
it does support mp3 tones.
For text tones you have to put it into the Windows directory folder.
For call tones you have to put it into the My Documents>My ringtones folder.
where is the windows folder you have to put it into? sorry im new to all this
open your file explorer.. go up until u are at My Device. there you can see windows folder, open it and paste the mp3s or audio file(s) that you want them to appear in the text tone setting..

Whenever i get a new text message, the phone does not notify me by ringing ringtone or SMS tone sound or audio alert, nor vibrating the device when there is any incoming text message or SMS message.. This is happening with new ext message or SMS only..
I have checked settings-->Sounds¬ifications. I have checked the play sound option.. Still its not workin..
Please help..

Try using a .wav file for your sound file. Some of the cooked roms won't let you use anything else.

try using a *.wma files. I had the same problem with my Touch HD (Blackstone). I change cooked ROMs a lot, and sometimes I don't have sounds in notification area (new SMS, new e-mail, etc...).
I use the Free Mp3 Wma Converter to convert all mp3's and wav's to wma format. After that, just transfer wma files to the /Windows directory on Your device, pick sounds in "Sounds & Notifications" and it should work
I have figured out how to make a custom song a ringtone but i want to know how to set a custom text message ringtone everyone that i have downloaded goes straight to my regular ringtones is there a way to set the text ringtone to a custom song or something else because everything they have is annoying. someone please tell me there is a way that i am not finding
I think we have wait for the release of tango. currently you can change the ringtones when calls come in.. but for text messages, you have to use the preloaded ringtones.
Hopefully we would have the update for tango that will let us customize the ringtone messages.
