Newbie needs help and advice on SIM and CID Unlocking 8125 - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

Hello everyone. My first post here. I just got my Cingular 8125 and wanted to unlock the device so that I can use it with T-Mobile (U.S.A). I've been searching through the posts on this site, and I must say that you guys do a wonderful job making this forum all that it is.
I'm still browsing through the many posts regarding unlocking the 8125, and I gather that I am going to need to unlock the SIM and the CID (so that I could upgrade the ROM). I'm still searching and reading through posts, but hope that someone could help make my life easier by suggesting what I should do.
It seems like the Lokiwiz Version 0.2b is the most updated version that can do both SIM and CID unlocking. What I wanted to know is if this version would be able to do the CID unlocking on my device, as I am unsure whether I have the G3 or G4 chip. Below is the info I have regarding the Current ROM and info thats on my device:
Rom version: 2.25.11.1 WWE
Rom date: 5/11/06
Radio version: 02.25.11
Protocol version: 4.1.13.12
ExtRom version: 2.25.11.102
Thanks in advance!

G3. Anf=d yes the lokiwiz 2b is the way to go.
Follow faria's footsteps precisely and it'll work!
Disregard the "Won't work with 2.21 and above" disclaimer. I've personally flashed over a dozen Cingular 2.25's with this technique.
If you follow every step it will work!

Thank you Dr. I'll definitely give that a shot.

Nothing to backup then.
Good luck!

Ok, I followed all the steps. I have posted below screenshots of the messages for SIM Unlocking and CID Unlocking. However, I'm not sure if it sucessfully CID Unlocked my phone as I never got the "Your phone is now CID unlocked...." message, nor did I ever recieve an error message. The command prompt screen went away after the "CopyFileToTFFS(cidunlocked.bin:0, 0, 00010000)" message and the phone rebooted. It did however create a CidUnlocked.bin file in the folder. After the phone booted up, it still read:
IPL 1.01
SPL 2.25
GSM 01.12.10
OS 1.5.4.2
Shouldnt the SPL be changed if it was successfully CID Unlocked? Or does that only happen after I install a new ROM? I think I'll refrain from updating the ROM, until I get confirmation from one of you guys, that the CID has been sucessfully unlocked. By the way, was I supposed to reinstall enablerapi.cab again, after I finished doing the SIM Unlock? I did the SIM Unlock first, and then the CID unlock. Below are the screenshots:

You appear to be unlocked. I'm going a assume that you downloaded and installed the 1.05 ROM. Then you copied enablerapi.cab to your device. You navigated on your device to where you copied that file and executed first before runing lokiwiz? All indications are that you did everything correctly.
Yes I believe that "you done good"
Congrats!

Thank you very much for your help! After the reboot, it showed IPL 1.01 and SPL 2.25. Shouldnt the SPL be changed and match the IPL if it was successfully CID Unlocked? Or does that only happen after I install a new ROM? By the way, can I upgrade to the latest official Cingular ROM, and then in the future, still be able to switch to another cooked ROM like Mr. Clean or Summiter or perhaps even the one you made?

Install the 1.05 a second time. Seems that I have to do it twice every other device or so. Don't run lokiwiz as your unlocked. And now you can install most any ROM.
Congrats again!

So I can just reinstall the 1.05 over the same 1.05 thats is currently on? Will the SPL and IPL both match and show 1.05 then?

yes!

Woooo Hooooo! Worked like a charm per your advice Dr.
After the Rom update, the boot screen showed:
IPL 1.01
Spl 1.01
GSM 1.12.10.0
OS 1.5.4.2
So I guess I am good to go, thanks to you! After I installed the ROM, and did my first Sync with the "Files" folder, I got a message on my PC asking if I wanted to 1) Combine the files on my PC with the ones on the device 2) Overwrite the PC files with the files on the Device 3) Overwrite the Device files with the existing files on the PC. I chose the first option and combined the files. Below is a screenshot of my WM_User My Documents. It seems that the "My Music" and "My Sounds" folders are identical. They both have the files: "Alouette.mid" and "ding.amr". Should I delete one of these folders? Also, for future reference, when I update the ROM again, and do my first Sync, shoud I always chose to "Combine the files on my PC with the ones on the device", or chose one of the other ones?

Hey Doc (or any1 else), a couple Noob questions if I may...
After thorough readings and praise about the new beta rom, I am sure I'm about to try this out, and though I've been helped a whole bunch by shogun, I still have some questions if you guys don't mind...
0. Before anything, where can I find [wizBackup.exe] to back up my device? Is there any prep involved like: removing battery, holding certain buttons like camera button to get that screen with the 3 colors thing and then running everything?
1. I downgrade my rom (current rom):
ipl: 2.25
spl: 2.25
gsm: 02.25.11
os: 2.25.11.1
this is a G3 chip correct?
2. I downgrade my rom with this: ftp://xda:[email protected]__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE.exe
3. I download this lokiwiz here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33796
4. I open/unzip lokiwiz02b and place it in my c: drive on my pc correct?
5. I then will find this cab file "cab file(enable rapi)" in my c: drive in my pc?
6. Do I run the cab file from the pc? or do I place the cab file on my 8125?
7. After the cab file has installed, I then run lokiwiz02b? This will unlock my device. Does lokiwiz CID unlock or SIM unlock? Both?
8. The unlocking process will make a [lock_backup.bin]? Where will this be found?
9. I can now dl and run shogun's rom beta version correct? with the same process, just execute and wait for the install.
10.... Thank you for your time and patience, I'm trying my hardest and I like to be thorough before I try this, scared about bricking my phone, especially since I love it so much... Once again, thanks for all your help and expertise....

I'll try to help answer as many of your questions that I can.
0) I never used wizbackup as I had nothing to backup. All the official ROM's are readily available if I ever want to go back to them. But here is the link to the wizbackup.exe download: http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=12373
1) Yes you have a G3 Chipset
2) Yup
3) Yes
4) Yes
5) It will be in the LokiWiz folder, which you just extracted on your Crive
6) You place the cab file to your Device, when you have ActiveSync connected to your device. Just go to the "Files" folder on your Sync screen, and select add, and add it. Once you added it, ON YOUR DEVICE, go to Start --> Programs ---> File Explorer --> And double click on the enablerapi.cab file. If you get a prompt that asks you where to install it to, make sure you chose "Device" and not Ext ROM or Memory Card.
7) Make sure you have an ActiveSync connection still. Just follow the prompts on the command prompt screen after you run lokiwiz.bat. If you want to familiarize yourself with it, run the lokiwiz.bat just by itself when there is nothing connected, just to take a look at what the screen looks like. Now, don't run lokiwiz by clicking on the lokiwiz.bat icon in windows. Instead, open a shell on your computer (Start->Run->cmd.exe) and run the program by going into its folder; this way the shell window won't close automatically after the process and you'll be able to read any messages or error messages Lokiwiz is giving you. Here are the steps:
Open a shell (on your computer): Start -> Run -> cmd.exe
- Write: 'cd c:\lokiwiz02b' (without quotes), then press enter. Now you're in c:\Lokiwiz02b
- Make sure you have an activesync connection
- In the shell, write: 'lokiwiz.bat' (without quotes), press enter.
JUst follow the prompts then. "U" is to unlock the SIM. Which is what I did first. After it finished running, it automatically rebooted my device. I then followed Step 7 again, to get back to the lokiwiz screen, and entered "C", to CID unlock the device. It once again rebooted. Anytime it reboots, it will take some time. I looked at the IPL and SPL to make sure that it matched. If it doesnt match, then reinstall the ROM like in Step 2. That should make the numbers match.
8 It should be found in the same Lokiwiz folder on your Crive. After you SIM unlock, just make sure to look into that folder to see that you have a "lock_backup.bin" and a "unlocked.bin" file. I created a new folder named "sim unlock backup" and placed them in that. Same process after unlocking the CID. " I created and placed them in a "cid unlock backup" folder.
9) Cant help you there, as I am still looking for a good, fast, clean rom to update to.
10) No problem. I just did this a couple of days ago with the help of Dr. Puttingham and Faria's guide. It's just like he said, "If you follow every step it will work!"
If you come across any error messages, make sure to take a screenshot and post em. On WindowsXP, if you go to the "PrintScrn" button on your keyboard, and then open up MSPaint and click "edit" and "paste", you will have a screenshot which you can save and post. Good luck! You'll be fine!

worked for me!!
Yes it finally worked for me. I messed up on my G4 phone, but fortunately Cingular replaced it with a G3 phone...and it works!!!

Im glad to hear that... Which ROM do you now plan on flashing to?

@PapaPrem - good posting here... (except it's U and not L to unlock, small mistake!)
I am hereby officially passing the baton to you regarding this as probably 1/2 of my 332 posts here have been repeating and repeating faria's steps.
Thanks!

Thanks! I made sure to correct that. Hopefully, next time anyone needs any help with this, we can just link them to this post.

After installing 3 ROM's today (Xelencin's 2.26 ROM, Cingular 2.25 Official ROM, and Molski's 2.26 ROM) I would highly reccommend Molski's ROM. Compared to the Cingular 2.25 stock ROM and Xelencin's 2.26 ROM, this one boots up much quicker. Took abou 37 seconds compared to the 44 second boot up time, the other two took. Its also very clean and installs just the bare bones and neccessary tweaks, and doesn't install all the programs that not everyone needs.

hello all can anyone help me unlock a cingular htc 8125 2.25 via messanger heres my e-mail [email protected] please?

Please help.
Qtek ROM version 1.6.7.1
In my humble opinion; Qteks 1.6.7.1 ROM is the most stable ROM to date. Everything works perfectly for me with all my 3rd party software installed too!!
PS if you haven't already done so, you can totally unlock your phone from T-mobile by following the following instructions. Also do searches for the quted software (download them first):

I wonder whether you had any problems during new rom installation...
I tried this ROM, but after the installation was finished, Etx_rom installed and system rebooted I got a "device locked message. illegal ROM, given only to customers who bought their wizard/qtek at ...[]" I had to go back thru several instals to restore my original ROM (which i never truely accomplished - i have no ability to change ring tones and assign them to different contacts)

Hey back at ya.
First download lokiwiz v2b. Don't use previous versions or you'll not get through this!!
Hard reset your device (not necessary, but it ensures you'll have no hassle with Activesync).
Done that? Good. Extract the lokiwiz v2b .zip folder and copy enablerapi.cab to your memory card or to 'My Documents' folder on your device. Then execute the 'enablerapi.cab'.
Done? Just switch off the device (power button; put it in standby mode).
If you have Activesync already installed, un-install it and re-install directly afterwards (ensure a brand new partnership).
Then when prompted by Activesync, plug in your USB cable PC-PPC and it should recognise as usual.
Then execute the lokiwiz.bat file (in the folder that was generated earlier when you extracted the lokiwiz02b.zip file) and when you see the MS Dos (black screen) choose the option CID Unlock (SuperCID) and wait for it to COMPLETELY finish. You'll know it's finished when your Wizard is re-booting. Plug out your USB cable at this stage.
Once re-booted and back into WM5, re-connect your cable and if all goes well it should re-connect to Active Sync (wait till it has finished syncing or says connected!).
Finally......double click the executable file, which should be:
RUU_Prodigy_1060701_101_11310_QTEK_WWE_Ship.exe
Hopefully it will now install the ROM without hiccups (about 10 minutes).
Hope this helps. let us know how you get on.

Re: Qtek ROM version 1.6.7.1
Will the follwoing also work with the Cingular 8125. I haven't SIM unlocked it yet. Also, is a SIM unlock the same as a CID unlock. Is there tow different things that need to be unlocked. And which do I do first, if there are two things that I must unlock. Thanks for the help...and sorry if this questions has been answered before...

I don't know if this will work with the 8125, but If under 'Start/Settings/System/Device Information/Identity' it says 'WIZA200', i would assume so, as it was created for the HTC Wizard, but I'm not sure.
As for totalyy unlocking your phone, YES it will. CID Unlock did it for me, but I'm not the developer of this software so am not in the best position to advise if it is suitable for anything else other than a Wizard.
Hope this helps.

ROM
When I double click on the new Rom, does it erase everything on the Vario (Programs) ?! Do I first have to sync and then put the new rom on it !?
what r the main diffrences between the roms ?
I have a T-Mobile Vario with a german rom and I'm thinking about putting the RUU_Prodigy_1060701_101_11310_QTEK_WWE_Ship or the
RUU_Prodigy_1060701_101_11310_QTEK_GER_Ship
on it, which one is better and again what r the differences between those two and the original ?
or is there even a better one !?

Absolutely 100% perfect working tutorial. CID unlock worked as did the new ROM. I too changed form MDA T-mobile NL version to Qtek WWE one.
Great tips. Thank you very much, you just saved me a few 100 euro's, and I got a device which is useful and faster.

Newbee on Wizard upgrade.. scared.. pls help

I have a newly bought Cingular 8125 in India. I would love to Upgrade that.
Though the box says it is for UK, I can use with the service providers in India.
I assume it is unlocked already.(is it really?)
This is my device information at boot:-
IPL: 2.25
SPL: 2.25
GSM: 02.25.11
OS: 2.25.11.1
I am planning to use Molsky.Biz ROM available here:-
RUU_Molski.Biz_226102_22610105_022511_WWE (G3 Device. IPL/SPL like: 2.xx)
I hope my device is G3.
Do I need to CIDUnlock my device? What is the FullUnlock?
Molsky.Biz says:-
" Also DO NOT FORGET to CID UNLOCK your Wizard. This is only possible with LokiWiz 0.2b and
IPL/SPL 1.xx, if you have a CID LOCKED Wizard with IPL/SPL 2.xx.0001 flash a G4 Rom !! "
But My IPL/SPL is not 1.xx as you can see above in my details.
What should I do to unlock? Do I need to do that at all?
and what is meant by AKU? Do I need that?
I sold my nokia and communicator to buy this phone. So dont want to brick it because of my ignorance!
Please guide me.
Many Thanks.

Your phone is a G3. If the IPL and SPL has more than 2 digits after the first decimal (ie: 2.xx.xx) then it's a G4.
As for unlocking, that confuses the bejesus out of me.
I would say download the G3 ROM, figure out how to unlock your phone (if possible) and then you should be good to go.
You SHOULD be scared given all the threads around here from people who trashed their phones. And I'd bet few of them could give a straight answer as to why they wanted to do so in the first place. So before you do anything, define why you want to update the rom. Does it do something specific that you absolutely can't live without and makes it worth the risk of ruining the phone? Maybe a custom rom is a tiny bit faster but in a day's time, will it make any difference? Probably not, and an operator rom that's a tiny bit slower is still a LOT faster than a dead phone. Don't forget that the moment you start flashing with anything but an operator approved rom, you're out of warrantee. if you absolutely MUST update the rom, then start reading the link above. Every question you asked has already been answered here many, many times. Is your phone a G3 or a G4? Better know BEFORE you start. Oops...you're at 55% and your PC crashes...what do you do? Better know BEFORE you start. The phone reboots and won't go past the splash screen, what do you do now? Better know BEFORE you start.
Thank you all for the replies.
The main reason for flashing it to the new rom was speed and space considerations.
I was owning an XDA Mini earlier and successfully did the BigStorage and Rom updates.
But seeing many users bricking their wizard here and being not sure about the 'unlocking thing' i've decided to atleast not to venture into the bleeding edge atleast during my warranty period.
I know many questions might have been answered many a times, but the answers too are very contextual, they are different for different versions / models etc.
Hopefully I will do it sometime next year!
i would vote the warranty period is the best time to do it.. then you can tell your provider you tried to update their rom and now your phone dont work and let them send you a replacement...
Flashing isnt all that scary, the first time its a little nerve racking, but then again i like living on the edge...
So if your gonna do it, here is a quick simple explanation...
Downgrade to a 1.xx rom from the FTP site, after the your IPL/SPL should show 1.xx during boot up (mine actually differed, had IPL 1.xx SPL 2.xx and still unlocked just fine, some people claim to have issues though)
after successfully booting run lokwiz 2b (its the one i used) do the sim and supercid unlock.
Then reflash a stock 2.xx rom so that you are sure to get the updated bootloaders, after that has completed successfully then flash any rom you want..
its that simple, just a little time consuming

whats is in my rom?
unlcoking problem
people don't get it and it is really easy to unlock CID if they really follow the threads that there are. This thread says it clearly what u do and it is really easy to do it. Most of the people have update tool problem they can solve that with wizard_ROM update utility_noID file on the FTP site of the XDA. They can just put it to the unpcaked faria RC1 file and run it after unlocking CID. Two steps simple and cristle clear !!

LOL! So you will select us according to whether or not we have something intelligent to say. Well, I am about to put your 8mb rom on my MDA (right now using the RISIDRO rom loaded on top of the t-mobile official 2.26 rom) and will let you know what I think. I will be sure to say something smart. I will just blow you away with my intelligence and technical prowess.
I would like to see some articles on the page-pool size thing though. That's a new one to me. Check my post in the original thread (#419). Anyone wanna point me in the right direction? I can only find how-to's and not any reasons as to why one would do this...
So uh ... how do I unlock my phone? I did not get any keys. Are they on the stylus somewhere? I gotta go download a computer.

well I told you I would let you all know if there was a difference that I noticed between the 8mb and 12 mb with the voicemail issues and in-call issues.
with the 12, sometimes in a call, buttons would become usless and had to soft reset to hang up. same thing with the 8.
with the 12, voicemail icon would not go away after voice mail deleted. havnt seen that with the 8 yet.
other than that, speed is good in both, and everything works like a charm.

I hope your donations will provide you with at least the ability to take a night off and go to dinner or maybe get a massage to help you forget the newbie questions. I will be sending a donation as well. You have provided an outstanding ROM that has rivaled (and beaten) multi-m(b)illion dollar companies core and "upgrade" roms.
To all those that wish to ask newbie questions, leave faria's threads dedicated to the enhancement and ultimate release of one of the best ROMS for a PPC phone alone.
The least you could do is create your own thread and post your questions there.
I hope I may be considered for future testing granted my moderately new questions have not been classified as non rom related. If so, I will go study some more and apply to faria U at a later time
G4s and the ROMs
Faria, I think I am onto something here. From what I am reading in the posts, and from what you and I discussed the other day about my extended rom not loading correctly, I think and G4 with IPL/SPL ABOVE 2.17.0001 have a greater degree of security. Again, reading the posts in your other thread, it seems a handful of G4 owners could indeed install your rom fully, while the other half would only get the OS. Correct me if I am wrong, but I am starting to see a pattern.
First and foremost I would like to thank Jose for all the time and effort that he put into making this great rom. If and when you come to NYC I am taking you out and getting you twisted VIP style! But enough ass kissing and lets get to bussiness.
I have had very minor issues.
The mms did not work for me with the settings that I had from tmobile USA. I did get them to work when I got some of the settings cabs from the 2.26 custom extended rom. I did run the auto config that was included to set the network settings.
After installing all the software extras that was included to check how they worked, I have not been able to keep the phone off. When I say off I mean the backlight staying off when nothing is running. I have tried using the XP feature to turn the light off but it doesnt keep it off either. This could be something that I did so I may just reflash and install everything one by one to see where the problem comes from.
I also have noticed some signal problems but I think that was more of me installing those cabs from the 2.26 rom
Any help is appreciated.
one issue i have noticed is right before the device wakes up it white screens for 2-3 seconds then loads the today screen.. i dont know if this is a issue as i have not seen it really affect anything but i figured id let u know.

Was your phone CID unlocked prior to the install? It seems that you have a G3 so the other thread on unlocking should have been done first. (You may have done this prior to another ROM but I am to tired to think about that...) Good luck!

So i bricked my Cingular 8125!
I just wanted to upgrade my ROM to the newest AKU 3.2 from Faria.
I did ungrade and errors arised as i described above.
I was told that the fone hadn't been CID unlocked.
I did as what described in lowikiz
-downgrade the rom,
-run enablerapi.cab on my device
-run lowikiz 0.2b
-choose CID unlock
Restarted the fone, what i saw was:
IPL 1.01
SPL 2.25
GSM 2.47.11
OS 3.0.0
There're only two things fulfill me,that's GSM and the OS.I wanted the
IPL and SPL should be 2.26 or later version.
What i did then :
-Downgrade again (hoping that i forgot to SIM unlock)
-run enablerapi on my device
-run lowikiz 0.2b
-choose unlock
And when the fone restart.
What i saw was:
IPL 1.01
SPL 1.01
GSM 1.x.x
OS 1.05.x
when the installation completed, i upgraded the ROM again to AKU3.2
everything went smoothly until it finished. The fone restarted and what i saw was:
IPL 1.01
SPL 1.01
<blank, no GSM version, couldnt believe that>
OS 3.0.0.0
the device kept running until the installation completed.
It restarted again and stopped running. What i can see now is just
nice background and blinking (waited for nearly 15 mins but no futher responses)
IPL 1.01
SPL 1.01
OS 3.0.0.0
It couldn't get further.
I think i bricked my Cingular 8125.
So could you helpers, experienced users help me with that?
Can i fix it?Or can HTC fix it?
Thank you very much!
Hello faria. I said eariler that this was a great rom. I think i have found a minor annoyance, i wouldn't call it a bug. It is related to spb time at least I'm pretty sure it is. I get the calnot.exe error every now and again and the cannot locate the spbtime.exe on reset. Its strange everything still works as it should. I think someone else had this problem in the other thread. I thought is was because spb time was loaded on the mem card and the fact that windows is sometimes late in loading it. So my next step was to move it to the sys mem. Same problem, I guessing it is on spb to fix this. I was probably not designed to work well with aku 3.2. Other than I that i could not find any real problems, except one time i uninstalled spb time and i oculd no longer sync. easliy fixed by hard reset no prob. I'm using 12mb pool. I also used your registry tweak program and set all the cache to the highest settings. Do you think that is a bad idea for this pool size. Have noticed some slow down in performance i don't know if the two are related.
thanks for the great rom again man!!

with the 12, voicemail icon would not go away after voice mail deleted. havnt seen that with the 8 yet.

MDA Unlock Blues

Greetings.
I have spent the past couple days searching for a solution to unlock an MDA. I have got all of the different versions of lokiwiz, wizardunlock, lokiwizMsl, etc. and the mda refuses to be unlocked. I believe I am following the directions step for step, but even the forums where people have the same problems as I (internal read/write error, can't find specified path, etc.), none of the solutions are working for this device. From my searching I believe it is a g3 MDA. The stats for the device are as follows:
IPL 2.26
SPL 2.26
GSM 02.25.11
OS 2.26.10.2
I have tried downgrading the firmware to no avail (the ftp site doesnt have the file), and the phone doesn't want to be DOWNgraded anyway. If ANYONE out there is cyberspace can assist, my gratitude will be pouring forth from their screen!
[email protected]
So have you followed this thread? It has valid links to get the Button ROM so you can do the downgrade and points you to the threads that will help you do this unlock:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613
In a nutshell, downgrade to the button rom (just execute the file and follow the directions). Your IPL will be 1.xx at this point and then you can use lokiwiz .2b to do the CID unlock. all of this is outlined in the excellent guide by Dr. P (which the above link will take you to). Then get your SPL down to 1.xx, then upgrade back up to 2.xx. Then you can start flashing custom roms.
If you still have issues, let us know exactly what you are doing and exactly what errors you see (or what your phone does or doesn't do).
Greetings mfrazzz.
I have indeed downloaded and attempted the button ROM. The installer started and then after about two minutes told me that the phone wouldn't let me Downgrade the ROM. I am currently downloading (70% done) the button ROM again and will see if it has the same problem. If so, I will of course seek the help of the experts here. Thanks for the quick reply!

Let us know the exact error you get (I assume the error is on the PC side) and then what the behavior of the phone is after you do this. Also, at what point does this error happen (has it actually started loading the rom or is it before it gets to that point and where its just checking your phone?)
Another option would be to try putting on the Wizard Love rom and then downgrading to button. Shot in the dark but worth a try.
Also remove your SD card when you try to downgrade. Try from a different PC if you can, or reboot your current pc before attempting this again.
Good luck!
Greetings again.
After downloading and executing the button ROM updater, it went to the status bar screen and stayed there for about a minute before displaying the following error message:
Error [296] : UPGRADE ONLY
This is (I believe) the same error I got previously. I was using RUU_Wizard_225111_22511102_022511_CWS_WWE_Ship (which is the file that I downloaded from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613 under the link button ROM (step g3.3).
ALSO... the phone is stuck in the multicolored ROM screen. (the red green and blue) On the screen (from top to bottom

Nope, thats the Cingular 2.25 ROM. Thats why you are getting the error (since you aren't CID Unlocked it won't let you load that).
The ROM you are supposed to be loading is this one:
http://rapidshare.com/files/18212239/CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE.exe.html
Thats the Button ROM (and the one I show being in that link on that page). Please download that, and run it. You should make more progress
Since you are on the bootloader screen (Rainbow screen you described) just run the button rom when you get it downloaded (active sync will not connect, but since you see USB above the left soft key you have the connection to do this).
I see....it would make a difference if I got the right program! Rapidshare says I have ten minutes before I can download another file, so after I download http://rapidshare.com/files/18212239...WWE.exe.h tml, I will try it and post the results here! Thank you so much for your help, mfrazzz!
Greetings.
After downloading and installing (onto the phone) http://rapidshare.com/files/18212239...WWE.exe.h tml, the stats for the phone are
ROM: 2.26.10.2 WWE
Radio Version: 02.25.11
Protocol: 4.1.13.12
ExtRom: 2.26.10.105
After executing lokiwiz, lokiwizMSL, wizardunlock, and a few different versions of each (after I put the enableRapi onto the phone), the phone still won't unlock. It either gives me a "Cannot find the specified path" error, or the "Internal read/write error".
Im not sure that the file I downloaded was a 'down'grade, so if anyone sees a solution, please post!
Thank you
Did the flash of the Button ROM work? Your IPL should have changed to 1.xx after doing that flash (and your splash screen would be a photo with a mug of beer in the foreground). Since your IPL and SPL still show 2.26, it appears the flashing of the button rom didn't happen.
Not sure what else to tell you. It should be as simple as running the CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE.exe file, and letting it flash to your phone to do the initial downgrade. But you have to be a 1.xx for IPL before the lokiwiz .2b will be able to work (so there is no point in doing anything else until the steps before that complete. Again, follow to the letter (including checking the results) the thread by Dr. P on CID Unlocking. You should never try to do steps before the previous step is complete).

I thought it would be that easy too. I clicked on the file, it went through the flash, and those are the stats that showed up. I am currently trying the flash again. One difference I noticed this time is that the version it says is going to be installed is 1.xx this time, last time it said 2.XX. It looks like its going ok, though. Ill post again once it is done.
Greetings.
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP MFRAZZZ! Not only did your prompt responses brighten my otherwise gloomy, MDA filled day! Your patience with my noobitude on this device (its not mine) has been a blessing beyond anything I could have hoped for. The device is now UNLOCKED!!! After the last flash, the beer mug showed up and all was well. Lokiwiz worked like a charm and your help, as I said, was much needed! THANK YOU!

CID Unlocking assistance

Hey guys, I've read the majority of the tutorials around here and I think I've done reasonably well with the fantastic instructions that you all have written out and my wizard is still in working order.
I managed to flash my wizard following the instructions vippie has laid out. I was forced to flash my G3 with the alternative ROM (Xda_MiniS_LaunchROM_v154102) because mine was one of the many that got stuck at 98% and gave error 302 when flashing with the button rom.
The flash of the Xda mini rom went well and upon boot I now have an IPL-1.05 and SPL-2.25. I moved on to the cID unlocking guide by Dr Puttingham and I moved the enablerapi.cab file to my wizard and it says in the instructions to "open" the file but it doesnt say where to install the file. When I open the enablerapi file there is a new place to install it unlike the old "device" or "storage card" so I installed it to device because it seemed like the logical place to. After installation I tried to run the lokiwiz.bat in the command prompt and kept getting the No communication error. My phone is at 90% battery life and it says that its charging so I don't know if its from low voltage or my lack of knowledge but I also soft reset the phone and tried again to no avail. Any ideas or suggestions would be a great help. Thanks for the assistance.
hey, i guess you have a last gen g3 8125? me too, and i had the some problem. you have to keep reflashing untill both ipl AND spl are 1.xx , otherwise lokiwiz will not work....i just gave up after 30 reflashes but you should try.

First you got to have both IPL/SPL same, you got IPL 1.05 but SPL 2.25.so try to reflash xda_mini a couple of more times to bring SPL 2.25 same as IPL 1.0.For unlocking you must have both IPL/SPL 1.05.
Secondly extract the lokiwiz02b.zip to the root of C:\ drive, where you have your windows installed along with other program files and ete etc, then copy and paste EnableRapi.cab to any folder in your phone via Activesync and click it to execute, only then perform Cid unlocking by selecting 'C' option in the lokiwiz in your pc.
You have not followed the instruction correctly, reread the guide again and follow it correctly.
Cheers !

I should have specified that I ran the lokiwiz file on my pc. I didn't realize however that I needed to have identical ipl and spl numbers. Is it difficult to make them identical via reflashing? How often does this sort of stuff happen and how easily resolved is it? Thanks for the help.

Well I've started a new thread to deal with the more pressing issues of IPL and SPL numbers before I can deal with the CID unlocking. Please look at this topic if you have any ideas.
