format the extended rom - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

Hello,
i tried to erase some files of the extended rom.
Some are gone.
But now i have these strange directories on the rom. I can't delete these.
I made a copy of all the files on the extended rom, now i want theme to pit back but this is impossible.
is it possible to format the extended rom so i can put back the originel files?

Restoring Extended ROM??

Hi All,
There are many posts about updating ROMs (OS & Extended) to the latest version (Eg 2.8.7.102), but there isn't much information on how to revert back to an earlier version of Extended ROM which, generally has the customisation files from the service provider.
What I would like to know is how to replace the files in the extended ROM with ones from a backup source (ie I used aWizard to copy the extended ROM and there is a RAR file of these files on the Xda-developers FTP site).
Also, I wonder what file needs to be altered (config?) so that you can cherry pick which CAB files etc to load on reset.
Finally, there are posts which seem to be saying that with the latest ROM's 1.6.x.x and above that you can no longer write files to the extended ROM.? - although you can use Total Commander to delete these files so that they don't reload on a soft reset (But probably reload after a hard reset?)
Sorry is this is going over old ground !!
Many Thanks in advance
John
With 1.6.x and above version your ExtROM is read-only.
To customize your ExtROM:
1. Backup cab files you like from ExtROM (ie the Operator ROM)
2. Flash your device using RUU
3. Test functionality of the backed-up cab files by manually installing them one at a time
4. Backup OS, Radio and Ext rom using aWizard
5. Flash your device with a 1.5.x version using RUU
6. Replace the files in ExtROM with the ones you like on the new rom (from step 3 as well as the backed up ones from step 4!)
7. Restore OS and Radio using aWizard
You now have the same rom as from step 2, but with customised ExtROM

Extended ROM

Could someone please tell me how to install the ext rom. I can install the rom and os just fine but can't figure out how to install these files.
Thanks
i think you mean EXTENDED ROM. you have to unzip and copy all files to /extended_rom with Total Commander e.g. but I do not know how to coz when I tap overwrite, there is a message that it is impossible.

Extended ROM purpose is explained in wikis
Visbile ext rom isn't same as unlocked ext rom
Bootloaders above 1.05 do not allow to touch the extended rom in normal phone operation as it corrupts the FAT (file allocation table of that partition).
The best one can do is to flash an ext rom already built (10MB file) to it via RUU or RAPI utils (WST)

Where can I find some? I did a search and could not find the roms
Just grab any extended rom from any wizard rom then open it with WinImage. Delete what you hate add what you love then edit config.txt. Use nb2nbf.exe to add your extended rom so that it can be flashed.
?
Does every Rom Have an extended rom? If I have a nk.nbf rom file is that the file I open or is the extended rom a seperat rom that is not included in any rom.
I have files in my extended rom that were all related to T-mobile but it is a Cingular phone. I Figure these must have been put by another rom. I did a forms search for "Extended ROM" and got 20 pages of hits. Could you help point me in the right direction.

Delete "empty" packages in ROM

Is it safe to delete packages that contain just one *.dsm file from the ROM. For example, if you dump stock ROM you will have several ones:
ExtraFilesPkg\7aa0b83c-d3b7-4934-8a26-ef0d0457655f.dsm
ShadowPkg\0f8d4566-4880-4f50-9113-44cf9106c304.dsm
UpdateBlock\df94652c-b7c2-44ee-84e3-019283818349.dsm
etc.
Is it safe to delete all such packages?
I generally delete the empties and have never had issues (that I can pin down to one of these).

[Q] Where are system files required for UOT Kitchen located and how to extract them?

Hello guys.
Could anyone could be so kind and tell me where I can find and how to extract required files (framework-res.apk, systemUI.apk and twframework-res.apk) to upload them in OUT Kitchen to cook my own status bar?
P.S. Used to use the option to choose from ROM list for my old HTC DHD but now there is not any of SGN ROMs listed. Or have I missed anything?
Thanks in advance!
The files are in the /system/framework/ and /system/app/ folder of your internal SD card, as far as I can see. You need something like Root Explorer to extract them from the running ROM.

Thank you. I cooked my own status bar using these files but it is not working. Status bar has disappeared
It looks like custom ROMs have probable different files from the originals. I have taken these files from stock XXKK9, cooked my own and installed on AntoniomistrettA XXK9 Lite v.2.
So I should probably take same files but from custom ROM and cook using them instead of stock ROMĀ“s files, right?
Yes, you need the data from your recent Rom, not from the stock Rom.
