Blackberry using Vodafone SIM but O2 XDA IIs with O2 BB Rom - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

Hi Guys,
I had a corporate Vodafone Blackberry 7130 but gave it up to use my XDA IIs with the vodafone enabled blackberry SIM.
I upgraded my XDA to the latest o2 ROM from UK which has the BB connect software (the GPRS settings are of O2-UK I can see) and whola - everything works great. Am able to sync with my server with no change in GPRS settings etc. Am able to receive email, sync calander etc.
Big question - since I am using the GPRS setting for O2 and not vodafone is this going to case a billing problem for me? I called vodafone and they said if I stay within my downloadlimit of 6MB whichever fone or connection I use is immaterial.
Can anyone else who has done this confirm? or will I get slapped with a million dollar bill for using a GPRS setting of O2 for BB downloads or using an XDA and not their BB phone for email (I dont browse - only email downloads).
please please please - someone who has gone through this dilema - can you explain...how does the BB connect work? even though I dont have the vodafone setting on my XDA how am i able to get BB connected using O2 GPRS settings?????
thanks
Dev

if you are using vodafone SIM then it would use the same GPRS connection and not o2 connection.
o2 wont be able to bill you at all.
cheers

IN NEED OF HELP

Hi there all
Heres my problem I just bought a XDA IIi SIM free, and I was going to put a O2 online SIM into it. But I have heard that you cannot use Mobile Web if I do this. I just want to know if this is true or not, and if it isn't true: then how do I set up the phone to connect to mobile web?
Also could I access mobile web through Wireless LAN as both my house and university use Wireless LANs?
My understanding is that mobile web is more like the actual web, rather than WAP like o2 Active.
Another thing is that my girlfriend has the Sony Ericcson K750i and uses a O2 online SIM card in it, and when she turns on her WAP it goes straight to google. Is this mobile web or wap? and if it is mobile web, if I just copied her settings, would it work for me?
Sorry for all the questions, but I'am new to this and dont pretend to know anything lol
Any help will be very much appreciated.
Thank you
When you say O2 online SIM, is it pay monthly or payg?
The 2i will connect to the real internet using gprs, wap or wifi, you just need the settings which can be found on this site for gprs and wap. The wifi you'll already have any router settings you may need. If the SIM is pay monthly then O2 active contains most if the settings you need.
You can set your homepage to whatever you want as the 2i uses ie6 mobile.
Thanks
the sim card is the online sim that you pay £10 a month and get 300 free texts along with your £10 worth of credit
will this have any bearing on the settings?
thank you
Well, there's only one way to find out, try it. What's the worst that will happen? It doesn't work and you'll have to ask again? You can't break it by trying.
No doubt someone will be along with a definite answer soon.
Have a look in the network section too.
ok
lol ok thanks for the help

HTC TyTN II problems with Vodafone RealMail

I had just bought one and configure it to work with Vodafone RealMail service. This works fine, but Explorer or other programs are not able to get info from the same connection. Vodafone folks in Spain say the device is not approved to work with RealMail, so if I want internet I need to open a separte GPRS connection and that means extra connection cost. I thought having WM 6 should be enough to ensure compatibility but apparently not. Is there a tweak I can do to have it look like an acceptable device for Vodafone REal Mail connection?
Thanks

Tilt's GPRS won't connect in other country

Hey guys
I have a problem here
Last month I bought an ATT Tilt and unlocked the sim that I can use it internationally
the sim unlock does its job, however, I can't seem to use the GPRS in other country even though I've set it up correctly (even had representative from the provider to help me)
so..can anyone help me with this ?
thanks
used my kaiser in Ukraine on GPRS
I just got back from Germany and Ukraine. My AT&T sim roamed on 3g fine in Germany. In Ukraine I put in a kyivstar sim. My HTC Kaiser did not recognize and auto configure the sim for data. (the phone worked just fine with no adjustments). I went to the kyivstar website and got their settings for GPRS (www.ab.kyivstar.com) and entered them manually in settings/connections/connections section. GPRS then worked just fine. I was surprised Kyivstar did not auto config since they have been the largest provider in Ukraine for 10 years. When I came back to the states my AT&T sim card powered up and reconfigured itself to 3g just fine also. Sorry but I do not know why yours is not working
i have the same problem with you , i bought att tilt from ebay a month ago. The sim lock works still but after a month i can not connect gprs. Can someone help me ?
same problem......
HELP !
Hi guys. Many Tmobile users encounter the same thing when using the Tilt. Locate the cab file in your Windows folder that Disables Hidden Proxy and run it. Then confirm your GPRS settings for your provider. That should clear the problem and allow connections.
did you try deleting the proxy in the registry?
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Internet Settings]
look for the line that says
"EnableAutoDetect"
and delete it.
didnt work for me... but try!

Anyone know the settings for O2??

I received an HTC Kaiser for Christmas and have an O2 pay and go Sim. I have tried to get the MMS, WAP & GPRS setting from O2 but they are useless.
They even sell the phone as the XDA Stellar but still haven't got the relevant entries for this product.
I would be very grateful if someone could post either the settings or where I can find them.
Many thanks

That site will give you ALL the information you need
I have spent many hours on the phone to O2 trying to get the PAYG settingsfor my XDA Exec, to be told everytime that I cant have them.
The reason is I need to go on contract - full internet access isnt supported on PAYG.
What made me laugh is they sent me a 3G sim upgrade, only to then say I cant use this sim in my O2 branded phone to access the net.
Utterly crazy, none of the other networks block internet access.
Thanks Nikumba.
Regrettably that site is way out of date and doesn't have the specific settings for the Kaiser (XDA Stellar).
I have the settings for the XDA Exec for GPRS Web and GPRS Wap so if you want them let me know. I used to go online with my previous mobile XDA Mini S (HTC Wizard) & that was on a Pay and Go basis.
I will have to push O2 for better answers or change to a better network.

I use O2 with paygo for FULL WEB ACCESS without problems (I am in the UK) - BUT not all the published settings are correct!
By the wat the settings are not any different for the Kaiser than other WM devices eg mine are the same as I use in my TyTn
UK Settings written for the TyTn so menus may differ slightly(they may differ elsewhere):

Problems with Internet access are likely to be related to the port No: use 8080 NOT 80
