Email suddenly stopped working - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

I came home and after I came home I do what I always do, sync my MDA Vario with the pc.
I don't know what happened, but the left upper button which I use to open my Gmail (and Outlook) email account didn't work.
I soft resetted the MDA Vario, the today screen only showed my appointments, the owner and the date, no email.
I couldn't use the touchscreen
I soft resetted 3 times and the email line appeared again.
The screen worked again, but the left upper button stopped working, in fact, when I try to open the "message" option in the regular program menu, it won't work.
Like it's there, but it't not.
Does this mean I have to hard reset? Or can I edit a CAB file?
Vario is unlocked, nothing weird is installed.
Darn.

Well, after some research, I found out that the mini sd card was the cullprit. Took the card out, soft resetted the Vario, and it worked.
I formatted the card and put it back into the Vario and it all seems to work..

Have/had the same problem with messaging. Same fix as well. Just thought I'd throw that in here for future reference.
I guess, if you have backup software (Windows Backup will work) on your PC, you could always use an SD reader on your PC and backup your SD card regularly. That way if it gets jacked in the future, you have at the very least something to go back to.

Thanks for the tip!

Messenger wont open!

This is the second time this has happened and I cant figure it out. I was running the 2.17 rom the first time. Then I now have Shoguns new beta rom and same thing has happened. I cant text or anything including mms, but that has never worked since I got this phone. When you try to open it nothing happens at all, like it ignores you or something. Other than that and the bluetooth not working anymore its all good.
Any ideas before doing another hard reset?

what all apps have you installed since installing the roms?
I installed all the apps on the ext rom installer but this happened before those were installed. The only programs I can think of that are the same is Opera, Total Commander, and tcpmp. If it helps any I was messing around with Omap trying to see if I could squeeze out a few more mhz and I froze it up. Come to think of it I cant soft reset unless the storage card is removed or else it will freeze on the omap program. Anyways I dont see how the entire messenging program stopped working. Any way this could be related?

Just in case anybody cares about this thread I found out some strange info. With the storage card out everything works again. Put it back in and its all messed up. Also I cannot boot it up with the card in the phone anymore it hangs on the omap screen. Any way to make that screen not come up everytime? I couldve sworn it didnt used to pop up everytime I rebooted before. Card is not bad it works fine. I wonder if the program that turns the phone into a card reader has something to do with it?
Dave
Happen to me few time. Just start messanger from startup menu and it will work again.
I have had a similar problem with Messaging. Usually it works fine, but sometimes nothing will open Messaging will not open with any method, from the Today Screen item (it highlights, but never opens), the Mail buttonhas no effect, and the Start menu item has no effect. I found that deleting the Inbox.mstxxxxxx folder from the storage card would allow it to open again. Also, the phone would not see the MiniSD card, and create a "Storage Card" folder then the real storage card would be called "Storage Card 2" and that would also cause Messanger problems. This has happened in the past on this phone as well, without any custom ROMs and with multiple MiniSD cards. I took out a reg hack to show the ext ROM in the file system and it seemed to help the problem.
Just FYI this is on an 8125 with a SanDisk 1gb MiniSD card and Shoguns current public ROM and the 2.47.11 radio.
I ended up doing the hard reset anyways, but its good to know there may be a fix for this. I did see the files but they would not open and said the program was missiing or something like that. Its all good now thouugh, but thanks for the info. Im sure itll happen again.

Mini SD card problems and MMS issues

I was wondering.
Just the other day I posted on how I had trouble with the email on my MDA Vario and how it was caused by my mini-SD card?
Ever since I had the Vario, almost a year ago, I had been having trouble with the extern memorycard. First the trouble was, that the data on the card went missing for no apparent reason. I stacked the card full of pictures, mp3's and other data, and when I wanted to listen to some music, the card appeared empty. I solved that one by making a back up of the SD card every other day and formatting the mini SD card.
I even tried several cards, but the problem did not go away, yet
I haven't had the "disappearing data" problem since I hard resetted my Vario, February this year. I still have the same ROM, only the Vario has been unlocked (with the Lokiwiz).
It seems that all my memorycard issues and "The Calender won't give me reminders anymore"issues were gone.
So why this post?
Since the hard reset I don't have any MMS setting on the Vario. I checked, but when checking the "message" services, I have Text Messages, Outlook, Gmail (manually added) and Hotmail (when signed into MSN).
There are no MMS options.
I did check on the extended ROM through Total Command, the CAB files seem to be in place, and when dubble clicking with the stylus, they seem to install.
After a soft reset, nothing happens. There are still no MMS options in the messages-option thingy.
I did install the T-Mobile MMS settings/CAB's, double clicked, soft reset, nothing still. I can, however, configure MMS settings in the menu. But there is no way that I can actually use the MMS option.
(Tried with pictures taken with the Vario camera)
I do think that a hard reset and installing only the neccessary stuff (no T-Mobile, that is) will solve the problem, but I am too lazy to do that right now.
It's not that I can't continue this life ;-), but I was just wondering if someone else has this problem.

WM6 corrupted? => white hard reset screen

Any thoughts on how I can retrieve the following situation without hard-resetting?
(and apologies if this has been covered elsewhere - I have tried searching via Google and the Forum search function (using keywords including "white, screen, hard, reset, missing, system, settings"...))
I'm running stock T-Mobile UK WM6 ROM on my MDA Vario III, with the radio noted in my sig (having sim-unlocked the phone courtesy of Jockyw2001's tool).
Last night I synced to my Vista laptop via ActiveSync as usual and also copied a couple of files to my storage card. This process also installed the MobSync which I'd d/l to my laptop recently but had not yet installed on the phone.
This morning I noticed that the GPRS connection was active - so I killed it via CommManager.
Then I got an error message saying a file (possibly "repl.log") could not sync - so I pressed OK. This message appeared a couple more times so I had a look at running programs via Start>Settings>System>Memory. Only ActiveSync and Navizon were present.
Then I tried to killed them - Navizon cleared OK, but ActiveSync wouldn't die.
Then I noticed that I was missing nine or so options on the Settings>System screen, inc. Power, Windows update, etc.
Then I soft-reset....
Then the o/s hung on the green Windows Mobile screen and I now have a white screen of death, inviting me to press 'send' to perform a hard reset.
I don't wanna!
(and which key is 'send' anyway?)
Would appreciate any help on this. I'm all backed up, but keen to understand what went wrong.
The green Answer key is Send.
Try pushing the Red Hang Up key.

at&t Tilt WM 6.1 E-mail/txt messages wont load

I have at&t tilt with windows mobile 6.1..I can't view any txt messages or e-mails when I click on the icons in the today screen nothing happens..also from the menu when I go to the MESSAGE ICON and click on it nothing happens.
I'm having the exact same problem, and it just started today. I didn't even know it was happening until someone called me and said "why aren't you responding to my text messages".
I've done several soft resets, to no avail.
I haven't installed any new programs recently.
Earlier this morning, before I knew about the messaging problem, I couldn't connect to the internet. But a soft reset fixed that.
So what would cause the messaging portion of the phone to just suddenly stop working and acting like it doesn't exist?
Euklid, with a little help from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2563559#post2563559 I think i fixed it. It seems that apparently sometimes files associated with tmail.exe (the messaging program), that are on the storage card sometimes become corrupt. So the solution is deleting the folder where these files are. Don't worry, a new folder will be created. The folder is named "Inbox.mst########.##########" (#=various numbers).
Worked for me, hopefully it works for you.
I had a similar problem and found rebooting with the storage card out (only happened when I set attachments to be stored on the SD card) solved the problem. Popped the card back in then and it was fine.
HTH
Ok sorry I didn't see the replies so i was desperate..I backed up my contacts using SPB Backup...i went to settings and CLEAR STORAGE..that seemed to have cleared everything and reinstalled the software..now my phone runs SUPER FAST and everything works..i had to restore my contacts that i backed up..and i had to reinstall all my programs..if u do this make sure u have all your contacts/apps etc backed up..im happy now cuz my tilt was going REALLY SLOW and not it seems alot faster..;p
Removing Storage Card Worked for me
I had the same problem - followed advise above, removed SD card, rebooted, inserted SD card, all is well. Thanks!
IT Worked for Me !
Guys, thank you very much for your help. i Almost lost hope.
I have an At&T tilt , upgraded to ROM version 3.57.502.2 WWE from HTC website a few months ago.It worked fine (although i hate threaded messages).
Then Suddenly 1 week ago, i couldn't receive any SMS (text messages) and the Messaging would not open altogether. I also wasn't able to launch Active Sync on the PDA. Whenever i tried to launch Active sync, it opened for less than a second then closed.
I followed the instructions in this post and deleted the last Inbox.mstxxxxxxx folder only and everything went fine. It seems this folder was corrupt
Thanks again ..... you saved the day !
All i did was remove the inbox.#########.######### in the storage card and it worked fine.
deleting 'inbox.mstxxx' does it
After all the soft reboots, etc, removed the sd card and messaging worked again. Deleted the empty folder 'inbox.mstxxx' from sd card in PC and all's well. Thanks
It Keeps Coming Back
I also had this problem (see thread from today "Inbox Attachments Screws Up Messaging" as I can't post links). My deal is that the folder keeps coming back?!?! How do I stop this?
HTC Viva Solved
Thank you everyone.
It worked for me in my HTC Viva:
1. Delete the Inbox.mst........ from the SD Card
2. Soft reset
3. Working!

Accidentally deleted ActiveSync connection, no contacts, can't get phone up

I am a total spaz when it comes to these things, but you all have never steered me wrong before, so here goes.
I kept getting an message about storage space the other day and accidentally performed a hard reset on my Tilt II. Dumb, I know, but it happens. Thankfully, all of my files were reinstalled when I synced my phone. All was well, called out an hour before I got home tonight, but I shortly discovered that the "phone" part of my phone was not working at all. No contacts, no nothing, not even pulling up the screen to dial out. I did a few soft resets, took out the SIM and the battery, to no avail. I thought I would try to sync it again and see if that helped.
Well, I kept getting a message saying that my device could not be connected to ActiveSync, so, like an idiot, I read a blog that said to overwrite with ActiveSync 4.5, which I did, and delete the existing sync settings on my phone. I was understanding that all of my info would be preserved on the PC and that I would just need to reconnect my phone.
Well, I don't have the setup disc and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it working again. It seems that the only programs available are for Vista, but I have XP. I have no idea if it stems from the phone being jacked or what.
Please help!
