Hello, i'm new in this Forum.
I searched for an Answer to following Question, but haven't found anything:
In a previous attempt to SIM-unlock my Wizard, i tried a ROM from the Hermes unlocker. When i was prompted to where i wanted to install it, i picked "Storage Card". When i rebooted the Device, it had my actual Storage Card renamed as "Storage Card2" and the ROM is now called "Storage Card".
I can't delete it, and i cant rename the actual storage card. Now all my Apps that i had installed on the "Storage Card" are not working.
MY QUESTION: How can i delete this ROM, so that i can use my installed Software again?
Thanks in advance!

PS: sorry for the double Post.

This has happened to a few of us ... a quick google for "Storage Card2" reveals http://jaganath.wordpress.com/2006/06/21/windows-mobile-tip-1-the-storage-card2-problem/

I searched. I really did.
Is there a registry key that would allow or prevent installation of cab files to main device storage memory? I have users in Turkey who have the local version of the Kaiser and we can install cab files on the storage card but not on main device storage memory.

i dont get your question. you said that you can install them on storage cardd and you also asked how to prevent it from installing on device.
if you are installing on storage card, then what do you need to worry about the deviced?

dude anytime you install anything and you have a storage card in the device the Kaiser will ask you where to install the item. If this prompt doesn't appear you may have issues with your storage card.
In that case, put the microSD card into a converter and format it on your pc and try again.
If i am wrong then I have no idea what you are saying...
Let me try again.
We attempt to install a program via cab file to main memory. The installation fails with a message saying the installation is unsuccessful.
We then repeat the installation only this time we choose to install to the storage card. This time the installation is successful.
Question: Is this a registry key setting, or something else.
We need to install the programs to main memory. I suppose I should also validate that the program actually installed on the storage card as I've seen some that let always install to main memory no matter what you select.
Sorry for the poor wording last time.

What program are you attempting to install?
I am going on the assumption you are running a stock rom since I have no information to go from on your previous posts. Have you tried the certificates cab?
http://www.4shared.com/file/44361714/8baeab2a/sdkcerts.html
We are attempting to install a cab file related to an Oracle app. We have no problems like this with any of our other PDAs: US, Canada, France, Germany, etc...
We are running a stock ROM. It is a Turkcell Qtek S200
We do not want to disable the certificate checking due to security issues.
So far I would guess that there is no registry key that could cause this problem.
the guy has a point, there are some cabs that will still install to the device even if you chose storage card

This seems like a obvious question , but here goes. Are you sure you have enough main memory space? Oracle isn't known for their " lite " apps.
Here might be your answer:
http://freewareppc.com/utilities/cabinstl.shtml
I used to use this app for Dell Axim x50v which doesn't ask for location to install cab like the kaiser does when you have an sd card in.

Sorry for the delay in responding as I do appreciate the responses from others.
There is plenty of memory available but it is a fair question. The Oracle app we are installing is not that large.
Hi All,
Forgive me if this has been answered, I have managed to get TT7.5 working. Only thing is I wanted to put all the maps and other files in a folder rather than on the root of my SD card.
Is there any registry changes I can make so that TT can find the maps in a folder on the SD card?
Thanks

I think you need to create a folder with the same name as the maps IIRC.
Mine are all in the GB_plus_major_roads_of_WE folder.

Hi Dave, thanks for replying, yes I have this folder to, along with voice and raster on the root of my SD card.
What I wanted to do was tidy it up, so I created a TomTom folder on the root of the SD card, placed all three folders mentioned above but then I get error "No maps found". If I take it out and place these folders back on the root, it works fine.
Ahh, I thought you meant the map files.
There is a TomTom 6 guide somewhere, I don't know if the answer might be in there, if it's not I have no idea
Dave
TT7 will find the maps if you put the folders in the "My Documents" folder on the SD card.
lastes maps
i'm not sure if I have the latest maps. where can I get them?
you can get the maps at the tomtom webpage. it´s not so difficult to find

NOTE: I FIXED MY PROBLEM MYSELF. I kept the thread in case anyone else has this problem, you might know the fix....explained under the quote (quote = original post)
Out of nowhere my kaiser errors now on startup (with startup apps or if I manually try to open them from programs folder) saying it cannot open any of the programs located on the memory card (says "either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found"). My ringtones on the card won't play and the error states they may be corrupt or unavailable.
So basically, all of the files are there...the phone "lists" them in file explorer....it just wont open anything (including when I click on files in file explorer....it doesnt do anything...just highlights them). It will open programs and files off the device's main storage just fine.
I have removed the card and placed it in a reader, and the card is just fine....all files open perfectly.
Has anyone else had this problem? I have never damaged the phone or got it wet or anything.
It made me late to work because the alarm (appointment in calender) didn't go off (error'd on playing the tone). I really need to get this fix.
Thanks a million in advance!

What had happened is that I have inbox tmp files or something pointed to save on the memory card....but at some point yesterday the memory card was ejected slightly in the port (so the phone counldnt save to it) and I must have received a message or something because it saved to that directory. Since the card was not there, it created a folder named "Storage Card"...thus when I found my card ejected, and clicked it back in yesterday, it named the card Storage Card 2....since a directory already had the orig name. Thus....since all programs and ringtones and such look at "Storage Card" .....all heck broke loose. I deleted the folder and re-inserted the card and did a soft restart...and everything was back to normal.
Thank you for your post.. I jsut had the EXACT same problem... and deleting "Storage card" folder and soft reset fixed mine as well.. whew...!1! Thansk for saving my tail!
So I was getting unknown reason 18 error when trying to install certain apps from the market.
I've googled and search the forum. The best answer I could get was to wipe and reinstall the ROM, which I did not want to do.
Then I checked the logs and figured out the problem was that all those apps that would fail were trying to install on SD card by default.
The solution: move all the apps back to phone, put your microSD into a card reader and delete .android_secure folder. That's it!
didn't work for me
Worked
That worked for me. For ever I could not update Sky map. When I could not install Angry Birds I went "searching".
Thank you for the fix.
I don't think it'll work for me either.
None of my apps are on my SD. I know this because I can't even do that. When I try to transfer an app to sd it the progress bar just hangs there (doesn't move it just shows the striped pattern)
It worked!
Hey ho, it worked!! Finally the nagging issue is resolved (for me)
I can't find that folder/file! :S
.android_secure is hidden, you need to enable showing hidden files on your file manager. I use ES File Manager and it has such feature.
...or, you can just make sure your app is installed on the phone, then unmount the SD before updating.

Holy crap! It worked for me. I didn't have anything installed on the SD card either.
when your market chache is moved to the SD then move it back to the internal memory and clear the market data...
Worked for me... Thanks a lot...
i've had this error for quite some time - i realized i need to move the app back to phone in order to update it and then move it back to SD card.
Will try this method!
Thanks for posting
thank god this!!!!! work i'm was getting piss off at is unknown 18 **** it was hunting me in my dreams THANKYOU
Please, I have the same problem but I haven't space in my phone to return the SD apps. Is there another way to solve this?
Simple FIX
Just take out the sd card, install whatever is giving you an error, then pop the sd card back in. No fuss no muss!
Nice SIMPLE solution!
Thank you. Didn't involve rooting the phone, installing adb, saying magic mantras etc. etc.
Thanks

Ok, so I figured out a solution that is hopefully "better" and "quicker" for all. Simply connect your phone to your computer (as USB Mass storage), browse to the folder '.android_secure' (make sure you can view hidden files/folders in windows) and delete the file 'smdl2tmp1.asec' (I just renamed it 'smdl2tmp1.asec.delete' just in case it didn't work).
Problem solved! Everything updates just fine now and I didn't have to move any apps back from the SD card to the phone.

Yea...just this guys.
zero need to delete, move, etc.
Just unmount the SD, instead of taking it out...

Did you download them from windowsphone.com? If so, restart the phone and they will appear in the store.
If they are unencrypted xaps, you can't install them from the SD but you need the Windows Phone SDK
i download from internet and in usb storage i make folder SD Card, restart phone, but nothing appear in store...

I'm not going to assume anything - maybe you mean XDA when you said "from internet" and you just don't know how to use sear h or even how to read the response above you - but it sounds a bit fishy.

An SD card is a physical storage device, which can be inserted into specific phones (and other devices).
Creating a folder called 'SD Card' or any other name for that matter using usb storage, will not result in the phone 'detecting' that folder as a virtual SD card.
Your phone (the HTC WP8X) does not have an physical SD card slot, so sideloading store apps is simply not possible for you.
The only apps you CAN sideload are non-encrypted XAPs, which was given to you by a developer or you created yourself. There is currently no way to sideload encrypted XAP files without an SD card slot, nor is there a way to decrypt these XAPs for other sideloading means.

On the official Windows Phone store if you scroll down to the bottom, it gives you the ability to download a .xap manual and sideload apps. I myself am trying to figure out how to get these .xap loaded as they aren't appearing in my store either.
