Mine did this again this morning. It did it before I unbranded it as well so I don't think it's a flashing problem. It is causing a problem though because my alarm didn't go off this morning and I was nearly late for work.
Mine has only done this when I left Microsoft Live Search running in the background, never had it happen when that app was exited.
Could be some app or another doing it.

I'm starting to hate my Kaiser. At least 4 times a day my Kaiser die without notice. The strange is that the LED lights still blinking but I cannot turn it on and calls go directly to voice mail. I tried to Hard Reset but not help.
Does any one know if this might be a hardware or a software failure?
Does any one know if I upgrade ROM this problem goes away?
I have my Kaiser upgraded from Abusalza ROM v7 to v10.
It works like a charm and I'm loving it so far until now.
The battery is dead and when I plugged in either usb charger or power charger, the notification led lit up solid orange/amber like it supposed to and then it blinks.
I checked and later found my phone isn't charging at all. Is this related to bad battery or is it because of incompatible radio?
Oh, and when I tried to switch on the device it just hang. Perhaps it doesn't have enough juice to boot up.
Anyone got same problem with me? Please advice how to fix this.
Thanks.
If you have already cleaned the battery terminals, I would suppose it is new battery time.
Well, I was sort of having a problem similar to this running the same ROM series. For me though, the notification LED would blink, even if it wasn't plugged in and there were no notifications. I would also get it when plugged in at times. This was intermittent, since it would randomly happen for some unknown reason. To fix it, I just killed all running programs, and reset the phone once or twice and it went away.
For you, if the ROM worked fine before, but isn't working now, a bad radio would not cause your problem. An incompatible radio would have caused you boot up problems and such from the moment you flashed, not later on. Don't know exactly what to tell you, except try a new battery. Get back to us after, and if it doesn't work, we can figure something else out. Hope your problem gets resolved by the battery.

Keep in mind that my phone is currently out of juice i.e. dead.
So, supposedly by plugging in the charger I can restore the battery but in this case that didn't happen.
I guess I would better off go to the shop where I bought the battery and ask a replacement. The battery was new and not even 1 months old.
I will keep you posted. Thanks for the advice guys.
Does the LED light up still, even with the battery dead? If so, wait about 20 min for it to recharge, even though I am assuming you have already done this. If it is completely drained, it most likely won't power back until it has enough power to do so on it's own, even with the charger connected.

At first it blinking and then I pulled out the battery and reinsert it into the phone. Now it lit amber light and then in few minutes turned green. Tried to switch it on and the screen loading fine until at one time it show loading icon and then shutdown.
You assumed it right though, I've been letting the phone connected to the charger since last night and still no juice pumped into the battery I presume as I can't turn it on.
I agree with WillardZ

There's a technical term for items which fail very early on called infant mortality - this may be whats happened. See how it goes with a battery swapped in the shop. If you can get it to work by putting in a fully charged, known good battery but the recharging function doesn't work (or you get a flashing red light after a few minutes again), also try cleaning the spring terminals with IPA or contact cleaner applied using cotton buds. If that still doesn't work but you can boot the device into windows (with the shop borrowed battery), perform a hard reset before the battery goes flat/below 50 % and test again.
okay, I found my other battery which is I know work fine and put it in the device.
I charge it to full and now turning the device on.
While loading the touchflo, the loading icon just hang and I can't do anything.
Nothing works except sleep button.
Can you advice me how to reset this thing?
I know that battery isn't the problem here and I can't seems to do anything since it hung on me.
Oh, I tried turning the phone on without SIM and memory card and still hung.

I can but it'll encourage others to ask without searching first and given there's already a wiki here that covers Kaiser Resets perfectly well (and the Kaiser users manual that comes with the device - let me guess, you don't have that), you'll need to read the wiki and help yourself.

Not to sound rude but I did said that I 'found' my other battery which is previously misplaced whereas I said earlier I'm going to get a replacement for the dead battery.

There is an instruction of how to reset the kaiser but is there a way to reset it while it is OFF or HANG?
I honestly apologies if I sound like I asked question without searching first but I honestly did not found what I'm looking for. The pda is still hang no matter how many times I restart it and I'm out of idea.

duuuuudddeee....the page you linked to above describes a way to do a HARD RESET for your EXACT requirement...read it again.
also, if it is OFF to begin with, then powering it up (even if it hangs ultimately) is equivalent to a SOFT RESET. if it doesn't complete startup and always hangs, then a HARD RESET is the way to go.

and if by "reset it", you mean "flash a new ROM", you can search for that also and you'll find plenty of guides and tutorials and FAQs...but go one step at a time and do a hard reset first (remember, you will lose all data and non-default programs after the hard reset).

You've found the right section but just the hard reset section will be applicable. You don't need the bootscreen (which is what that button combination is all about), just a hard reset (making sure the battery has a decent charge of at least 50% before starting).
Thank you for all the help.
I've managed to reset my phone back to OEM and then flash 3.34 hardspl and radio and abusalza v10. Looks like it back functioning.
Will monitor it to see what could be wrong in these few days.
Happened this morning, I noticed that my diamond2 is not responding when pressing the power button as usual... black screen!
It wakes-up in two cases:
1. soft reset with the stylus.
2. removing the battery and putting it back then pressing the power button.
This happens after I leave it turned off for 5 minutes. It is working fine as long as I don't turn it off. When it is off 5 minutes then no response!
Note: I am using the latest htc rom.
Don't know if this is a software or hardware problem. Any help is much appreciated.
I have actually had a fairly similar problems with my TD2. Not regular and not at spercific times like after 5 minutes but there have been times when my screen doesn't want to turn back on, the device is still on because it still make some of the regular sounds, eg the ping on the home button but the screen is dead.
Like you it will only wake again after a battery out reset, sometimes after several attempts.
I'm pretty sure this is hardware related as like you i'm on an official rom. The first time this happened was after using the phone as a modem and it got quite hot so i think perhaps heat is loosening the connection to the screen, only a guess though so any other opinions welcome.
After trials for 8 hours, I figured out a work around.
I Forced the mobile to work in the GSM only band, from that moment, it is back to normal... 3G is important to me, but I think I will wait until the WinMobile 6.5 is out for our TD2... may be this will solve the issue!
Hard reset it at least once..... That may take care of the freezing issue.

Problem solved
As I guessed, it was a network error and problem sovled after changing my Sim Card and getting a new updated one from the Service Provider!
Now my TD2 can sleep well and get back whenever called
6.5 is out, has been out for a while now for the TD2...What are you waiting for, might solve this issue...gogogo!

I am afraid I have to bump the thread.. I received my device from the HTC service with a new 6.5 ROM installed, and I started having this problem. The deviced sleeps and does not react to pressing Power button, neither to pulling the stylus. The only way how to wake it is to remove the battery and switch it on again. Any idea how to solve this?

My TD2 starts the same problem . After some standby time the power button stops working. I tryed to re-flash ROMs , Hard Reset, Change the battery, and nothing solve the problem. The Power Button not working! The only way is soft reset... Any idea?
This is referred to as the "Standby of Death"
The only fix I am aware of is to flash a custom ROM.
hello guys. there is no need to flash a new rom. i had same issue, but hard reset and backup restore helped me. try this on your phone. for back-up, use sk tools

[FIX][08.04.2011]Patch for "Screen won't come on after device wakes" (RHO_S2_00895)
Problem: Device doesn't come back from suspended mode. Pressing the power button, sliding out the keyboard or taking out the stylus does nothing.
Occurrence: Random.
Quick fix: None known.
Request: Kinda all over the Rhod forums.
Affected ROMs: HTC Stock S2 2.07, all custom roms based on 2.07 drivers. Probably 2.10 drivers are partly affected too.
Patch:
For stock roms (standard HTC patch package, .exe)
For custom roms (download this if you're unsure, works for stock roms too)
For cooks (extract and put into OEMDrivers)
Thanks!
Let's see (in time) if the SOD's are finished for us.

Installed. Didn't work . I think the flex cable is crapping out. Also had the problem where if the screen was fully slid, it'd black out. Now it's been like that every postion.
Although, the power button works to turn the screen off, it won't turn it back on.
It doesn't work for me either
The only thing that I was able to install on my Tilt 2 (latest stock ROM) was this file Jackos RHO_S2_00895.cab
Nothing changed.
The screen goes on but what stays off is the backlight and the only way to get the backlight to stay on in a reboot. Then try to adjust the brightness from the settings menu and moving the slides doesn't do anything. The brightness stays to the max no matter what.
Is it the light sensor? can it be disabled or checked somehow?
Thanks anyway I hope your fix helps others,
G

Does it sometimes don't come back or always?
SoD, Sleep Of Death, so called the hangup issue does happen only after the device is suspended for a long time. It does occur kinda often, but not always if you turn off the screen. If your device never comes back from standby it isn't a problem with SoD for sure.
That would be my [email protected] cable....

The exe file (for stock roms) is intended to work on Europe roms. I have no knowledge of HTC releasing this patch for other regions.
It's no fix for any problem with the phone The patch doesn't even touch the backlight thing.

It happens all the time. I turn the phone on via the power button. Boots up. Let it sit till backlight goes off. Press power button, nothing happens.
I can turn the phone on, press the power button to turn the backlight off and when I press it again, nothing happens.

I do not think it's a flexcable problem. If I can turn the screen off and power on the device with the 'power button', it has to be something software.
I have to check again if the device comes back on, but with really really low backlight.
It's annoying, I have to restart to see a text, missed call, etc.
Thanks for your help so far.
Won't wake up
I tried loading this patch after doing yet another hard reset to try to recover from these outages. It doesn't work. Within an hour of installing it, the problem came back. My specific problem is the system goes to sleep after a minute, and it usually comes back with the power button. But after normal usage for awhile (sometimes hours, sometimes weeks without a problem), it goes to sleep and needs a red-button-reset to turn back on. Then as soon as it goes to sleep again after powering up, it's off forever. The only real recover after reaching this "cycle of death" is a hard reset (full memory erase, back to factory settings). Then it will work normally again for awhile.
I'm not sure if this is exactly the problem the other submitters were seeing, but it is surely related.
I'm off to do yet another factory reset. WM 6.5 is not worth a tinker's damn.

It's a pity that it doesn't work for you. This is a patch for Europe branded devices, I don't even see the fix at any other region-based HTC support site.
Personally I never experienced SoD, so I cannot guarantee that it does work. All I know is that this fix is supposed to help with "constant hang". Whatever it is. It's a official fix and I didn't encounter any problems with running it on my Europe branded Rhod.
Jackos is this in your ROM? I have found several times my TP2 needs a reset as the power button does not bring it life. If I take the stylus out (when this happens) the row of keys light up, but still the display is blank. I assume it's already in your ROM (Jackos S3 1.1.2 SleekBASIC) otherwise I would have installed it.
It's going to be included from version 1.1.3 and up.

So...how do I uninstall it? I am on sprint in the US and have the latest official win 6.5 ROM and downloaded this update on my phone through a tech website and after installing it none of my keys works except for the power button. Apparently being for Europe it has corrupted my phone and none of the talk, end, windows, back or keyboard buttons work now. I need to revert this update, is there a way without doing a hard reset. I don't want to reconfigure all my settings that aren't backed up.

If anything really fails, navigate into /Windows/ directory using your favorite file manager and "delete" those two files:
Code:
debuglog.dll
HtcPm.dll
Probably deleting the second file should fix your keyboard issues.

Hi Guys,
I have a serious problem with my Inc S. Lately, after using a few apps (mainly on the bus) the phone will go to the lock screen. A this point when the power button to wake the phone, it will just hang. The backlights will still be on but the phone is unresponsive. I have pull the battery out for 10-15 mins before it will restart. This issue happens at least 2-3 times a day. I can see no reason why this would happen. I have tried a factory reset but nothing works. Any help to resolve would be greatly appreciated.

Telling us your issue is fine. However, we need more information such as your bootloader status as well as what ROM you are currently on (if you are of course)
I have unlocked the bootloader, cwm recovery, but still running stock Rom. Haven't flashed a new Rom as yet. The phone seems to get quite hot, too. I think overheating may be the problem as it won't turn on for 15 - 30 mins after battery has been pulled out, which suggests the phone would need that time to cool? Dunno, just a thought.

Overheating is most likely your culprit. But its pretty difficult to pull the phone to about 50 degrees you really should watch whats running in your background and what applications you are running. Overheating may damage your phone and I assume you probably won't want that.
Would flashing a new Rom help? Never done it before.

Ok, so when the screen blacks out, I can still receive sms. I have turned the screen time out to "never" (as it seems to only lock up when it goes to sleep mode), but it still blacks out after say 1/2 hour and screen becomes unresponsive. Have to pull battery out for a while. Is this a hardware issue rather than a software issue?
This still an ongoing issue, and driving me nuts. When ever the phone goes to the lock screen or after a phonecall, it wont come back on. The touch still works (can play music, etc by touching screen from memory) but the screen wont show anything. Have flashed cm7.2, done wipes, etc with no luck. Any help?

Ok now that is not an overheating issue. That's probably a ROM issue or a kernel issue. I would suggest switching ROMs, maybe CyanVivoX or CyanVivo10.1 if AOSP is your thing. If not then maybe SVHD, Nik Project X Rebirth, or ViperVivo for Sense 4.1 (or Blackout or ARHD if you want Sense 3.6). Happy flashing
After a month of stuffing around and flashing my phone with different tons, I am still having the same problem. The only solution I have found is to install a wakelock app from the playstore, which isn't ideal as the screen stays on, drains battery and everything gets activated when the phone is in my pocket (mates are sick of getting phantom calls from me). The phone is no longer in warranty so I don't wanna take it to a tech.... There has to be a solution. Any further help woyl be greatly appreciated.
