i'm new. i'm not as smart as most people on this thread. i was smart enough to find this thread and download this new ROM. that's just full disclosure. i'm an idiot but not a complete idiot.
that being said, i downloaded the ROM thanks to the generous help of many people on this thread. i have most of my contacts set up with custom ringtones that i made myself. they worked fine with the old tmob ROM. now when one of those contacts calls me the phone uses the default ringtone that i have set up for anyone other than the custom contacts.
any help will be greatly appreciated. i'll even donate to someone's paypal account if they can help me fix this. fair is fair.
thanks!

1. Where do you have the ringtones stored that are assigned to the individual contacts?
2. Did you go back into your Contacts list to RE-ASSIGN the ringtones after the ROM upgrade??
I agree with newbie2 as I was able to reassign my custom ringtones inside the Contacts app. Are we missing something?
they are stored on my storage card. is that not ok? i did go back and reassign them after i flashed.

I believe they (your ringtones) need to be stored in the Windows/Rings folder. I could be wrong but it worked that way for me
YES!!!!
thanks so much. i think i might have figured this out a few days from now. or not. anyway, thanks so much. i'm very happy now...
Or place them in \Storage Card\My Documents

This is the damndest thing. I flashed SuperROM v1.1 onto my phone last friday, and was messing around with "Messaging" then just fine. I check for it today to SMS my girlfriend about the freak weather I'm having (it's BELOW freezing in the f'n desert), and it's not there. Can somebody please yank the CAB to install messaging from the TMo ExtROM and post it for me please? I'd really like to have the SMS/MMS/Email all right there, and screw Tmo's Push Email. I prefer pull.
Thank you in advance,
-The Defender of 4gb miniSD cards, Cynagen
You can't delete messaging by mistake, it's part of the ROM.
More than likely, you have lost the shortcut somehow.
Have you remapped the messaging key? Also check in Programs if you had it on the menu, and vice versa.
If it's definately gone, then make a new shortcut to \windows\tmail.exe

Shortcuts are fine. I found the application manually and tried to run it however, and nothing. I think I managed to kill tmail.exe, can somebody loan me a copy of theirs? Oh and how the hell do you set up MMS in it?
Hope this helps
Try this. It worked for me.

That just for the MMS or does it replace the tmail.exe too?
Only for MMS
I believe it is only for MMS, sorry for the mix-up. Try a search, maybe you will get lucky. Best of luck.
To anyone who has the stock ATT Tilt ROM, (or someone who has a ROM with all the original WM6 ringtones) would you please do me a big ole' favor and grab the ringtones from your phone, zip them up, and post them? I finally flashed my first ROM yesterday, and it's great, but it only has a couple ringtones to choose from, and none of them are the ones I used most from the stock rom.
It seems that the quickest and easiest way to grab the files I need is to connect the phone to the PC so you can explore that way, go to the \Windows directory, sort by File Type, scroll down to the "w's" and copy all the Windows Media Audio .wma files whose filenames start with "Ring - ...".
They should all be pretty small so I would think the total size of the zip file should end up being relatively small as well.
I'd be ever so grateful!

You're very welcome. Just trying to give back.
You're the best P1! Thanks!
P1, I just looked at your list. Very comprehensive, but I don't think you've got the one I used a lot. It was called Telephone Ring 3, I think. There was also Telephone Ring 1 and 2 that I didn't use as much. You don't have those I assume?
Would anyone be able to just post those 3 files from their Tilt?
Thanks again.

I just know in my head. No list that I know of.
hey guys.
Just a simple request to those who you have the time to do so.
I recently installed Gtrab's W4X WM6.5 Cooked Rom but didn't realise it had a lot of the ringtones included with the xperia missing.
I've searched the forums and found the odd file containing ringtones taken from handsets but they are different tones.
Could you please copy and zip all the ringtones from the Windows folder from a default Xperia rom and upload it to the internet for me please
Cheers,
Hyped
I need them too. can somebody please post them?
Thank you
Press me softly....
Thank you for your help, however, unfortunately, these are not the ringtones I need.
I'm not sure where they're saved but there are some ringtones called like Alarm1, Alarm2, Alarm3 and such. And it's in this location I need the ringtones. I think they are scattered throughout the Windows folder admist the system files.
So, could you possible collect and zip these please

Extract the rar file on your computer, connect device via active sync, once syncing click "explore" and your my documents folder should be visible, move the extracted mp3 ringtones to this folder. Hope that helps
Thx

There is one ringtone, i really miss on the ROMĀ“s, but i do not remember the name

I flashed energy rom so i don't have the stock ones at hand
There is a thread or two around here somewhere with a link to all the OEM ringtones / sounds etc. I'm not sure what it was titled though.
It was a rar file and nearly 38mB in size.
:edit Found it. I used the top secret 'Search' button. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=526164

more info required
you would need to say what rom you are using?, what format the tones you are using are in ?, what exactly are you trying to put in the windows folder?
have you tried any other apps to achieve this.. which app were you using to do it before? what did you remove?
i use ringo (comercial software) but there are freeware options out there with a bit of searching... i seem to remember seeing a mortscript that was set up to do this somewhere on xda. which users seemed to report worked quite well.

I use the stock rom. I haven't upgraded to any other rom. I am trying to put a song into the windows file so i can change the text notification to the song of my choice. I have not tried any other apps only because i know of none. lol. I'm not sure what app i was using if any. But all i remember is i had absolutely no trouble with this until i deleted the at&t junk on the tilt. By the way i appreciate your help. My apologies for not responding sooner.
Oh, i forgot to mention the formats: mp3 and wmv. The ringtone that i want is set to mp3. It was mp3 the first time it worked and it still is mp3 and now it doesn't work.

All mp3's need to be associated with Media Player or else they will not play as ringtones. Perhaps you have installed another music player which has changed the file associations. You need to change it back to WM Player. Let us know if this is your problem.
Hasta luego,
MAC
Is the ringtone over 500KB? When I still used AT&T stock ROMs, I learned that files over 500KB would not work as ringtones unless I installed this fix. Hope that helps,
Dave
(And I assume you're putting the potential ringtones in \My Documents\Ringtones)

Well thanks. So what about the weather problem and the settings sounds tab in manilla 2d? Why wont it allow me to add a location? And why wont it allow me to go to the sounds tab in settings when using the manilla touchflo thingy? lol
so I forgot how to set up the folders in my SD card to make my own notification/ringtones/alarm rings. does anyone remember? thanks!
I'm pretty sure that if you run a search you'll find it...
However you just need to make a "media" folder on the root of your SD Card, then an "audio" one. Then you can dump the rest of your files there in folders, like alarms, notifications etc.
EDIT: If this answers your question could you please put in [SOLVED] in the title of the post so people know/it can be closed. Thanks.

yup. i remember when all i had to do was just create a folder in the root of sd and would show up...but i guess now i have to do media -> audio ->notification/ring tone. thaank you.
No worries. I remember when I first got my G1 I was wondering why it wasn't working as well, all before the craze of rooting and that was available. I think even in the G1 manual it states that you needed to create folders for it to pick up. Its a long time ago though since I last looked at it!
