GPS icon missing (AKU 3.2) - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

Can anyone help me with such problem.
I tryed with all avaliable AKU 3.2 versions (ell, faria, rc etc)
Everywhere i cant fing GPS icon in settings. But i realy need that thing.
As i found both gps dlls in place, also all registry settings related to gps are same (i've checked on WM5 emulator from MS where its shown normaly).
Also as reported by taskmanager driver are loaded too
(GPSID.dll Loaded Automatic $device\GPD0
So just one - there are no its Icon , co i cant setup ports.
Any ideas ?

Found solution by myself :0)
Will write here if its help someone.
You need remove two keys under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\GPS Settings
delete all values there except DWORD "Group" = 2
then it shows again under Settings/Connections.

Wonderful, will try that.
TIA

I have made the changes to the registry and the GPS Icon is displayed in Settings, Connections. I understand the logic of the application but I think I am missing something......
If I configure the GPS settings to Program Com Port to Com7 and Hardware to Com6 (BT GPS receiver) and allow Windows Mobile to Manage GPS Automatically. If I load TomTom and configure for Com7 it doesn't see the GPS receiver, if I change it back to Com6 it works. If I close TomTom and load Pocket Streets, then configure this for Com7 it sees the GPS receiver. If I then leave Pocket Streets running and load TomTom then the GPS receiver cannot be seen on Com6 anymore and is instead on Com7.
I assume this is because Pocket Streets is loading the GPS driver dynamically?
How do I get around this?

i Think for using that features program need to use MS GPS API, here on my wizard, i runing many programs, old ones working via virtual com7 port (i use same port numbers as you) very bad, constantly loses fix, sometimes not see gps at all and so on, but when same software connected directly to com6 all just fine.
But all MS GPSAPI samples from Visual Studio working just great.
Another issue is SIRF binary protocol. Im using BT receiver with that chipset and it can work in its native binary SIRF format, there are some advantages comparing to standart NMEA, but looks like MS driver support only NMEA text format.
So, right now, as i found better solution, disabled ms gps and using franson gps gate software avaliable in net.

i lost the values
i think after a soft reset i lost the icon and the values can you help me rewrite the values? [email protected]

If you want the icon to be displayed in control panel then it's just a case of deleting the 2 registry keys - Hide & Redirect, so that only the Group key remains. Soft reset and the icon should be displayed.

BlueAngel WM2005 problems resolution

Lets make a topic and post here fixes and useful stuff we'll find about WM5.
Here are tips to speedup WM2005 on BA:
1. Disable most sounds
2. [deleted, integrated into ba_wm5_fix.cab]
3. It is very annoying that OS checks the digital signature of all DLL/EXE files. I've uploaded a patched version that does not do that to /Uploads/Blueangel/wm5_test/ba_wm5_patch2.rar on FTP. It is nk.nbf file, replace the original file with it and reflash the device. This ROM version works a bit faster.updated 14 sent, probably fixed a problem that some CABs did not install.
4. Finally I've managed to make a backlight fix, I've taken FrontLight.Dll from 1.40 ROM and made a CAB-file that installs it and makes necessary registry changes. This CAB also contains registry fixes from p.2 and missing EXE files from my lower post. To install it just copy it to your device and run. updated 10 sent. 2005. Added 2 bluetooth files provided by ramram (today icon and bt settings). Removed STK.EXE.
5. I don't like the default behavior of hardware buttons - the leftmost and rightmost are mapped to softkeys. I've attached the fix that restores the WM2003 behavior. Previous version was not working. I've attached a fixed build.
6. To send files over BT use this method. Turn on BT, in Explorer tap on file and in context menu select "Beam File". It would send file over BT and IRDA.
7. Attached the camera fix CAB. It is taken from old ROM and is not fully compatible with WM5.
8. ramram made a CAB with album and MIDI ringtone support - http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=6658
9. dynastykai and rschell posted here that deleting hklm\drivers\builtin\camera and cameradriver registry keys would fix sound problems under SX66. I've attached a CAB file that would remove these keys (remove_camera_reg.rar). Updated 10 sent 2005, previous version did not install.
10. Added Headset_Today.rar. It shows bluetooth headset mode on today screen.
11. Added extended ROM unlocker
12. brn2prgrm found a fix for WiFi connection dropping on resume from standby - http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=30840
I've made BA_WIFI_FIX.CAB that sets the required registry value.
Note. After editing registry you need to power off your device, wait several seconds and soft reset. Otherwise changes would be lost!
Note2. When you install CAB file and it asks you to reboot device - don't do this! Power down your device, wait a bit, power on and then reboot. Otherwise registry would not be updated.
Note3. All CAB files attached here would work only on patched ROM!
Note4. Attached files may uninstall incorrectly.
Note5. If you have installed a previous patched or unpatched ROM - you can safely reflash your device with the most recent version. No data except for clock settings would be lost. It is not necessary to reinstall CAB files if they were already installed.
I'll copy here the other my post.
The main reason for battery draining in my case was that buttons are not locked when the phone is turned off. So it constantly turns on when it is in pocket. To fix this - take following files from 1.40 ROM:
Backlight.exe
ButtonLock.exe
CSDType.exe
DIM.exe
Keyboard.exe
MicrophoneAGC.exe
WLanMgr.exe
MyCPL.cpl
and copy to \Windows folder on your device. Windows would cry that files are unsigned - say "yes", then reboot. You'll be able to turn keyboard backlight off, lock buttons, change GPRS class, but you cannot change brightness. The sliders are ignored. They are ignored even if you'll take driver from the WM2003 OS.

Guys, Install Album with midi.rar , it will enable the album works with the camera file tweaked by Mamaich and especially to enable midis as ringtones good luck
I also created a cab file to let you disconnect from the G bubble while you're connecting from the GPRS.
Tonailed created a file to wake up the device and turn on the screen backlight the time you receive an SMS. Click here to download!
To resolve the issue of the voice command "Low voice while announcing the names" on WM2005 install this patch:
Bug: Bluetooth shuts off when the device power button is pushed.
Bug: GRPS cannot be connected manually, it has to be done using a web browser.
Fix: By setting the clock to always be on the task bar, it greatly increases speed, reason it no longer has to redraw the bar at the top. So switching between windows is much faster. To do this click on clock settings in the control panel.
thanks
TOmTom 5.10 works
WM 5.10 works
Voice Command Works
Regedit works
Cryptocard works
Wifi works
...
First step to this?
So in my oppinion the first step now must be to create a buglist . I think, devs wiki would be a great place for this, what do you think?

i need help
i install on my sx66 the pda2k_5.rar
1.its very slow and i stop the sound
2.i cant dial with my phone the phonepad is not function
3.i dont get the bt mannger on today screen
4.no ring on incoming calls
appreciate help
You have to wait a few seconds, until it dials. But it works! On PH20B1 Devices there is no sound after all. Can PH20B users copy that? What about sound on your devices?
I've made a fix for the backlight problem and integrated there ramram's CAB. See the first post.
Bubisch. I don't have sound problems.
icohen2005. On my device it is not slow, no problems with rings or phone pad. I use patched ROM version.
The only problem left is that it does not respond for several seconds to keypresses/screen taps after it is turned off and quickly on again. And SPB PocketPlus 3.0 today plugin slowsdown the device.
I use dualsim adapter, after upgrading, the radio doesn't work. When I put single Sim card the radio is OK. Cause WM2005 has no STK? How to fix this problem? If it does not work, may be I downgrade to 2003se
MIDI Files
after i have installe WM5 i have tried to make my *.mid files to work as a ringtones but it doesn't work also windows media player does not recognize them.

also bluetooth is weak i have noticed that 1. 3900 is little bit better than the one equipped with WM05

GPS didn't work for me in Google Maps even though it was set up and working correctly with TomTom Navigator. Though I am using WM5. If it is a reg hack to make those options show up in settings they might be in the wiki.
i saw it on another sub forum. i think universal. it is somewhere in the registry.
HKLM\Controlpanel\GPS Settings
Add value "Group" (dWord)
Value "2" (show) Delete "redirect" and "hide" completely (if its there)
to rehide enter value "1" (hide)
is that to enable GPS on WM6? can i use it on my 8125?

it puts the gps icon in the connection settings
Dammit! finally a question on this forum I actually had the answer to and several beat me to it! ;-)
Hopefully my musings will help someone or two setting this up anyway...
GMM seems to rely on the PPC "telling" it that it has a GPS, and where it is, instead of GMM "looking" for it, like most GPS software does.
The reg hack posted above will restore the GPS icon in Settings > Connections. Then you tell the utility what port your GPS is really on, and then setup what virtual port you want software to think it's on. (You can select "COM0-COM9" or "GD0-GD9- I assume the "GD" stands for GPS Device" and not what the hell is a G** D*** GD port?") Once you do this, Google Maps finds the GPS no problem.
I tried it GMM after "fixing" the GPS problem yesterday, and almost had my 8-year old son convinced the sat picture he was viewing was "live" until he noticed there was no snow in the on-screen "live camera" view of the Denver suburbs! ;-)
As a bonus, the GPS manager in WM allows you to use multiple GPS programs at once- (usually when a program connects to a COM port it gets exclusive access, but this virtual port is available to all programs.) It was a hoot switching between Mapopolis, GMM and MS Virtual Earth and comparing. (V Earth is slower downloading data over GPRS/EDGE compared to GMM, but I like having the street names superimposed over the aerial image.)
Weird heads-up in case you run into this- my usual GPS Nav software (Mapopolis) wouldn't see the GPS on the "fake" COM port unless I used one of the "GDx" ones. Any other "COMx" (other than the real one) wouldn't work. I suspect this is because Mapopolis probably checks the hardware directly for COMx ports rather than going through the OS, but is forced to go through WM for the virtual GDx ports that don't really exist in hardware, so sticking to a GDx port is probably best (it will also avoid accidentally selecting a virtual COM that conflicts with a real COM port like your IR port, etc.) I suspect the other major PPC Nav programs probably do the same as Mapopolis and go to the hardware directly since this virtual GPS port stuff is fairly new...
Hope I helped someone! ;-)

Hiden GPS Icon
Having tried the new HTC rom I found that the GPS WAS enabled (Tried it with Tomtom 6) but the GPS Icon in the settings menu is still hidden.
To enable/unhide the icon use a registry editing program and change the numerical value of the DWORD string that reads 'HIDE' from '1' to '0', then soft reset the device.
There are a couple of threads that can explain how to do this in more detail elseware on this forum.

Thanks anyway.

In the regisrty there are a lot of folder wich one contain the DWORD?
if this is your level of understanding of the registry I strongly suggest you DO NOT try and modify until you thoroughly research it!
You may end up having to hard reset your device.
I already modify it last time but i forgett where theDowrd is..Under wich menu on the registry
OK Brigate- sorry just wanted to warn you!
I would do a search- this took me 10 nano seconds ;-) It's quicker than posting and waiting for a reply.

HKEY_LOCAL_MASCHINE\ControlPanel\GPS Settings
Add a DWORD called "Group" and give it the value of "2" (dec) keep the Hide key but change the value to 0 and delete the redirect value and soft reset
If you have a GPS device, you can add a GPS settings icon to your Start > Settings menu using:
HKLM\ControlPanel\GPS Settings\Group = 2 (DWORD decimal)
HKLM\ControlPanel\GPS Settings\redirect <-- delete, or rename, this value
Note that '2' stands for the Connections tab, '1' is System and '0' would be Personal
Note also that this has reportedly disabled one person's USB connectivity. To restore, set "GPS Program Port = None", "GPS Connection Port = None", "Automatic GPS Management = on"
/ snip
This rings a bell- I tried it a long time ago on my M600 thinking the icon would help (it just stopped my BT GPS working!)

Setting up a bluetooth profile

Guys
I am having real problems getting my GPS to talk to my XDA11i . the two devices appear to talk to each other ( flash furiously) but tom tom doesnt recognise it.
Bluetooth manager confirms there is an active connection.
I believe that the BT profile is not set up correctly.
I can go to BT settings and make a new profile , selecting serial transfer etc and then give the profile a name , BUT , each time I select the profile whilst the access permissions are still as set , when I open the services tab no services are selected ! despite selecting it when the profile was set up ?
Any thoughts here ?
Astro1
Go to BT parameter -> services -> serial port -> options
Write down IN/OUT port number, report the OUT port number to you GPS software.
If pb still exists, try to use "Franson GpsGate" or NMEA as connection within gps software.
Tried that !
Hi NewbiePDA
Been there and tried that , the outgoing port is port 6 and in tom tom 's configuration choices the choice of port 6 is the only oje that seems to get any where ( activity from the LED on the GPS unit ) all other port choices given turn off the GPS.
Ive got a copy of franson gpsgate but got nowhere with it ,
It has to be a simple configuration problem !
I have set up a spp profile in BT settings ( and called it tom tom ) I have ticked the serial connection and then Enable service box then closed down ( hit ok). Upon re opening the profile serial port choice is no longer chosen ? any ideas ?
Best Regards
Astro1
Hi Astro1,
I think that creating spp profile is unnecessary, my procedure is as below:
1) Pair you devices
BT -> BT manager -> tools -> pair device -> add
browse you BT devices then you should see you gps icon appear, click on it, then type you password to pair, usually is 0000
2) back to BT manager, choose "new", choose discover a BT device, again, you should see you gps device, click on it, normally you get spp service, just follow the step by clicking "next"...
If you can't see any services available then turn off you BT gps device, turn off you Xda2i BT, soft reset, then turn on gps, back to step 2)
3) If pb remains, probably it's due to tomtom's bt stack, try rename BtCoreIf.dll BtSdkCE30.dll (in \windows folder) to others name, or delete them.
Hope that helps.
re name or delete
Hi Newbe
I am trying to delete or rename the two files you note , I have seen this on other sites as well .
Like you XDA11i says that the files are in use and read only / archive /hidden or in use etc.
It will not let me touch them !
Any ideas of a file manager or software that will let me work on them ??

download and install gpsdash2 and in the connection settings click on auto config, it will find you gps receaver ad set itself up, this will also give you the correct bt settings, it will show you if everything is working okay. and some cool features.
i had to do this with my jentro bt unit
Hi Skeevee
Ive tried that one too .
GPS gate checks trhe ports and the blue led on the Bluetooth GPS unit flashes furiously ( as if they are talking ) , but GPS gate reports unable to find GPS ???
This is loosing me , it seems to me that the two devices are talking but that there is a comms / set up problem .
TT6 tries to talk to the GPS as well but gets no where ?

Another GPS Help Me Topic

This is just my last resort I suppose. I recently flashed to NATF's v4.4 and 1.11.25.01 radio plus installed Google Maps on my att Fuze.
But when I go to locate myself Google Maps tells me "Your current location is temporarily unavailable". Sweet.
So what have I done thus far?
I've looked around and I've done the Advance config tweaks.
I've updated my Quick GPS.
I've ran the HTC GPS Tool (I honestly have no clue what I am looking at here lol but I do get a Mode 2: Not Fix thingy) for about 2 hours hoping for *something* to pop up.
Finally, I've done the GPS Test version 1.04 but it maintains itself at "Looking for GPS unit.
I've soft reset, hard reset and cried.
Is there anything else I'm missing? Any help would be mucho appreciated, thanks!
Hi Coola,
I am using the standard HTC-ROM.
0) First of all, I am not sure whether your GPS unit is working in your phone.
But assuming that the hardware is still OK do the following:
1) Go to settings > System > external GPS.
Check if all options are still normal.
Program port is COM4.
Hardware port : none.
Baudrate : 4800.
Access: Check automated GPS control.
NOTE that an external connected GPS (e.g. Bluetooth device) unit will have a baudrate of 4800. The internal which resides at Com4 has a standard baudrate of 57600. These settings need to be checked to make sure they are still this way and it will also give Windows automated control of the GPS system.
2) You need to install Advanced Config 3.3.
http://www.touchxperience.com/fr/out…ol-32-cab.html
With Advanced config 3.3 under GPS:
1. disable A-GPS
2. disable GPS logging
3. logfile name must be empty
4. old logfile name must be empty
5. maximum size of logfile must be 0
6 delete the files : \windows\GPSLogFile.txt and \windows\GPSLogFileBack.txt
After these settings the tool will soft-reset your mobile.
3) Then edit registry with TotalCommander
http://ghisler.fileburst.com/ce/tcmdpocketarm.cab
Don't make any errors here, check your steps carefully.
These values seem to work fine and give you a much quicker fix.
Under: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\GPS Intermediate Driver\
- Drivers\GpsOneDevice\PollInterval -> 100 (default is 1000)
- Drivers\InputBufferSize -> 512 (default is 4096)
- Drivers\OutputBufferSize -> 512 (default is 4096)
- Drivers\SleepOnNoData -> 100 (default is 1000)
- Multiplexer\MaxBufferSize -> 512 (by default not present, you have to create it, make a Dword value)
After these settings are in place, restart / soft reset your device.
4) Run the program QuickGPSfix and download the new data.
This step needs to be repeated anytime it is outdated.
5) Download and install the HTC GPS Tool.
http://rapidshare.com/files/84815853...C_GPS_TOOL.cab
Upon starting it should show COM4 and a Baudrate of 57600.
Go outside the house, preferably with good wheather.
Hit the "Open"
Hit the "Nav. Int."
Leave all as is, no need to change the options.
You should now start to see the GPS data flow over your screen in the grey area. Wait patiently, the first fix can take up to 10 minutes (afterwards it wil go faster). If it fails it sometimes seems to help to move around a little bit and to reboot your device if it takes way to long.
See if you have any red bars below the satellite numbers (signal strength per satellite) When you get a fix, the bars and satellites to which it is connected will show up green. If there are no red bars here, no data flow etc then there is something wrong with the ROM / radio combination and your phone.
Close this program if you have a fix.
6) Start-up Google maps. Wait for it to download the basic map information, so you don't have any interference from the "now downloading data" message. Then start the GPS use. Fix should now go fast. Once it has a fix you can start moving towards your destiny.
From now on use HTC GPS tool to get a fix.
Close this program, start the program with which you want to use GPS.

This is just my last resort I suppose. I recently flashed to NATF's v4.4 and 1.11.25.01 radio plus installed Google Maps on my att Fuze.
But when I go to locate myself Google Maps tells me "Your current location is temporarily unavailable". Sweet.
Click to collapse
the location Google Maps is trying to get is from the "cell towers", make sure your selecting com4 or MS controled Gps. In other words , google trys to locate with towers first. Then if you select to use GPS, it will try using your Gps setting under options. If you already know all this, then disregard my post, if not, then I hope it helps!
Ah I see what I did wrong. Thank you guys for the clairification!
