I put the new FW or rom in my 8125 from Cingular, everything works.. got SMS working, got EDGE working, but Wi-fi does not
it sees the AP but will not connect. it says connecting then Unavailable
ideas.. i would like wifi.. really a conveance.

what did you upgrade to? I upgraded to 2.16.9.101 and have had no problems connecting to my WPA protected wifi network.

and you used the RUU file to upgrade the unit???? mine upgrade the radio to 2.07.10 as well.

i bypassed the extended rom.. so there is none
but.. still no working wifi
it see the AP but will not connect to it
same problem here, haven't found a fix yet. My router is only 802.11b capable and not 802.11g. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Maybe this new ROM sets the device to G only. Although, using Nico's registry wizard, the G mode isn't selected.
Do you have any kind of encryption active on your wireless router? If so, turn it off and see if you can connect. If you can, I'd suspect a problem in the key.
If you still can't connect even when WEP or WPA is off, then the problem is elsewhere. What kind of router is it?
I was going mad with the same problem.
I'm not 100% sure it appears the issue was related to the MAC address of my unit - as well as WPA I do MAC filtering to weed out unwanted devices
I'm not sure if it was a base-station issue, or if the ROM upgrade changed the MAC address on my K-Jam
double-checked and added the IP from the device and now it's happy as Larry (as I say it may be a total red herring... I may have forgotten to save the router config to Flash and we had a powercut over the weekend...)
if you installed the cingular extended ROM do a hard reset immediately. that's what f's up wifi. i loaded the full extended rom and was NOT able to get wifi to even start. once i hard reset, everything was a-ok

There is NO EXTEDNED rom installed at all.
I bypassed it compleatly.
when it asked me where I was (orange etc..) I did har soft reset and no rom was installed at all.
no cingular rom, no Imate rom, no extend rom other then the OS

I did allow it to run the RUU's extended rom... I don't remember which carrier I chose on the carrier screen. My wifi does work fine on my WPA G network.

so my question is.. (this worked before BTW, before I upgraded to the new ROM)
I have a linksys SRX400 router (WRT54GX4).
I just upped the FW to 1.00.10 from 1.00.09.

I appear to have the same problem with my qtek 9100.
Used to connect to my pair of dlink dwl-900ap+ 's fine. Since the rom upgrade it will only connect if I turn off wep! No idea about wpa cause I've never managed to get it to work!

Ever since upgrading to 2.17 (official QTEK version) I can no longer get a stable WiFi connection - I get poor signal displayed even though I am next to the AP and it can take anything from 5 to 20 attempts to get connected.
The 9100 came with 1.6.7 installed which not perfect more or less connected first time, but I hoped the later ROMs would fix some other stability problems.
I have tried AKU 2.3 and I still get the same issues (plus I miss the battery indicator in the top bar).
Also, I cannot get back to 1.6.7 (I managed to get the OS back to it but the other 2 were stuck at 2.4) as every time I try I get vendor ID is wrong.
Any ideas?

I have the same problem, but even worse. I see the network after connecting it says it is connected but I cannot browse or do anything on the "socalled Internet" DHCP says that it found an adress in my case at home 192.168.1.33.
I am not sure if an upgrade would help.
My wifi version is 01.04.10
I am looking for any idea too.
Just an update, though the problem remains.
I have downgraded the OS to 2.17 as it seems better than the later ones posted and is at least a QTEK one.
Still hit and miss with the WiFi

search this forum to find a solution to downgrade the rom version to 1.x then do CID unlock using aWizard.
or you should try upgrade to cingular 2.25WWE rom to see if there is any improvement.

I did try various of the downgrade tips but none seemed to work even though I've got a G3, so hopefully the LokiWiz will be updated soon to work on v2 ROMS.
The Cingular 2.25 ROM didn't work very well either and I hated the extra rubbish it comes with. The radio ROM I happen to be using was from that same one.
I suppose I could go for the 2.25 OS but not the Extension - would that leave behind the Cingular crap?

I now run 2.25rom without its original Extrom. It works perfect for me.

it looks a little strange that you have a 2.25OS with 2.24IPL/SPL. :?
you could put a bat. icon on task bar by running Windows\Init_Tray.exe
Ok so I still can't get WiFi working :-( but at least I've sorted the the battery indicator out (thanks to a reg tweak for AKU2.2)
Which leads me to this AKU stuff. I keep reading about 2.3 but I'm not sure if this is an official release or something that someone has put together. I'm willing to give it a try but not if it's just 2.2 with some tweaks or something like that.
Can anyone shed some light on the AKU releases? Mine definitely says 2.2 at the moment.
Oh and can I simply create an upgrade file with just the 2.3 OS file in it?

Ok, my WiFi is still borked, it sees AP's all over the place but the ones I know it should connect to the phone just will not lock on to - it tries for a few seconds then simply says "Unavailable".
Currently I have on the phone a combination of:
IPL: 2.24
SPL: 2.24
GSM: 02.25.11
OS:2.24.10.1 WWE
Protocol: 4.1.13.12
ExtROM: 2.17.7.102
WM5 5.1.95 (14955.2.3.0)
I've actually tried what should have been a later OS, 2.25, but the AKU was 2.2 and the copyright message shows 2005 where as this one is AKU 2.3 with 2006 displayed.
I'm thinking now that perhaps the Extended ROM which is from the latest QTEK build I could find. Can anyone suggest a good replacement for it that doesn't have a load of baggage and only useful customisations?
As a last resort I'd like to try downgrading back to full 1.x ROM (QTEK 1.6.7 I think) but as I understand it this may not be possible. If it can be done, can anyone point me in the right direction i.e. which downgrade ROM to try? Yes, I have gone through this forum but it's almost "information overload" and very confusing,

if you update to shipped Cingular 2.25WWE rom, you can bypass all the extrom and see if wifi works normal (before you install other apps.)
Mine is ok.
the AKU2.3 one is a custom test rom which may cause slightly unstable.
while this still doesn't work, i think there's no means except sending your device back for checkup and repair.

Ok, I'm making progress.
I followed the instructions for downgrading, which although says it won't work for 2.21 or above, sort of does.
I downgraded to the custom 1.5.4 which succeeded but left SPL still at 2.24 but everything else had changed. I then ran the LokiWiz v0.2b and that seemed to succeed too at least there were no errors.
I then tested WiFi and it locked and connected first time - yay!!
Next I have taken the 1.6.7 QTEK ROM (which the phone originally had) and when that finished both IPL/SPL were downgraded to v1.x - WiFi still working.
At least now I know that WiFi is not borked but it's some strange ROM issue.
I'm going to try QTEK's 2.17 ROM and see what happens - at least I know I can get back to 1.x if it still doesn't work.
This is fun - not!!

after the RUU completed and restart automatically, after those init setting you must follow(eg. align screen, select time zone, etc.), at the moment when u see "customize within 3 seconds", poke the reset hole as quick as you can. Then you Bypass the extrom installation.

I went back to 1.6.7 then added the Cingular 2.25 OS ROM but with the QTEK 2.17 extended ROM. What a mixture that is! WiFi would not work. I then hard reset and used your bypass technique - WiFi now works.
It seems that an extended ROM application is screwing up WiFi so I need to get everything up to the latest and greatest, bypass the extended ROM then one by one run them to see which is the culprit.
The plot thickens......
Well it looks like *any* v2 ROM screws up the WiFi on my phone and I have no idea why :x I have tried various combinations of ROM parts (proving the phone is most definitely CID unlocked :wink: ) and I either have no WiFi or some which progressively gets worse as time goes on to the point it stops connecting again.
I'm back to the original 1.6.7 QTEK WWE shipped ROM and WiFi works flawlessly but I'm now missing all the nice tweaks of v2 and I'm sure my BT headset doesn't work as well as before.
Maybe the next release will be better :?
Just to conclude this thread. The 2.26 ROM recently released seems to have cured my WiFi woes and it has made my phone run so much better than before.

wifi probs with 2.26
i just upgraded my MDA USA to this ROM. My wifi now doesnt connect. It was working fine with ROM 1.08. Any suggestions? I havent tried bypassing the ext ROM, will this work? thanks

Are you saying that you upgraded to the offical TMobile ROM? If this is the case then I think that you will need to input the GPRS settings manually.

i did, but it can not connect to the access point.
If you are in Egypt as your profile suggests why don't you upgrade to the latest ROM that your carrier provides.
Carriers in egypt do not provide any roms, so i have to use only the roms come with the device from imate, but also i need to try the ad2p support and other features with the 2.26 rom.
Finally it works today without anyproblems, it was an isp problem yesterday.
My htc diamond was locked on ORANGE UK, SO, i came onto this site and flashed it with a new rom using olinex 1.40 hardspl. I also flashed a new radio rom 1.00.25.05. I've just recently updated it with the new 2.03 rom wwe. But it was ever since i first flashed the rom that i noticed everything like gprs, mms, wap etc didn't work. I've since been using a O2 simcard. I have tried inputting the O2 settings but it doesn't dial out, or so it says. I was just wondering, does it have anything to do with the radio? Or is it a hardware fault...i can't get my head around it.
Download and install this cab file from your phone and restart.

That file would be kind of useless since i am using an O2 simcard atm. I've unlocked the phone so that it can be used on any network, but for some reason i cannot connect to GPRS, MMS or WAP. it says it cannot dial out when all the settings are correct. I've even downloaded and installed the settings from the O2 cab file from this forum but it still doesn't work.
Right now i have the 2.03 rom flashed XBMOD.

Which made me presume you wanted the settings for the Orange network.
Although there should be no problem with the radio you are using, XBmod suggests in his post using radio 1.09.25.23.
Have you tried changing the radio?
Radio Roms can be flashed from the device if renamed to DIAMIMG.nbh and you quickly hold down the "down volume key" and the <-- Back button when switching on the device.

Yah, i've just changed the radio to .23 but still nothing. I just can't get the thing to dial out! Is there a setting that i need to check to see if it's enabled or not? =s Its jsut annoying that i can't send MMS or use GPRS on the go.
At least you can use the phone! My problem is the opposite...unlocked using the Olinex method...I can use GPRS MMS etc, but I can't reciever any calls or SMS...
I'm on 3 in Australia, so while we're on different continents & our problems are almost oppposite...I feel ur pain!
i seem to be in the same boat.
purchased diamond (orange branded) on ebay, phone unlocked to work with vodafone ireland. no roms flashed or anything else.
settings got for vodfone isp & live! i have tried both but to no avail. when i try to go on the internet via opera or ie i get a proxy server error on opera and on ie 'the page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost etc......'
i have noticed one thing though, on the modem settings when i input the username/password as advised by vodafone, when i go back in to check these settings there are more than the normal amount of * which would equate to the password - dont know if that even makes a difference.
does anyone have any idea

I've flashed all kinds of custom roms after installing HSPL(Energy;4-2/7-2, TouchX, Valkyrie Firestorm, Cristian and others) and also have flashed my Xperia1 with different radio's (also the latest 1.14.55.25 AND installed rilphone). I know I'm doing it right because this is not my first time flashing, but my internet connection stays "dead". I've manually changed the settings to the right ones, softreset.. still no luck. With some roms I do see in CommManager that I'm connected, but when I try to update the weathertab or browse Opera I don't have a working connection. When I flashed it back to the latest stock rom the device still can't get a connection. Does anyone experienced this type of problem and if so, is there a known fix for this? Thnx in advance!
My friend had a similar problem, he was using double SIM card (= he had two sim's in one phone number). Problem got solved when he changed to one sim operator.
With almost all of the roms you have used I had an 3G internet connection when I used the roms.

Try your sim in another phone, see if it can get a GPRS attach. If it can't, then some scrub at your operator might have removed the codes on your account.
I´m having the exact same problem! Difference is my internet connection is sometimes working for 20 seconds or so...
Have you found any solution? I´m going to try talking to my operator again...
My SIM has no problem getting a GPRS attach in another phone.

Maybe they are all programmed to stop working during the Olympics...
My phone connects to GPRS/EDGE and connection manager says that data connection is active but when i open IE,Opera,Google Maps or any other network application then it says "server not found" or "connection error" or something similar.
But all worked fine with default WM6.1 ROM.

For me it´s not working when I go back to original ROM... Have you tried flashing original ROM since your problems started?
No, i didn't try to go back to original ROM.
I will try it tomorrow and post results here.
Had same issue, no internet keep on poping up.
I hard SPL and flashed the stick ROM. Then Hard SPL again and flashed Untamed 1.3 and it's working like a charm...no issue (running from 2days now)

My area only has Edge. But 30 miles north of me where my brother works T-Mobile supports 3G.

I flashed the stock ROM (Image and then SPL)...tried to flash ROM's without SPL again and phone wasn't detecting the image file on uSD card...did Hard SPL again and worked perfectly...that's the reason!
Ah, OK.
Maybe I´ll try to go back to stock SPL and then Hard SPL and see if it works.
Or maybe I´ll just send it in and hope thr warranty claim works...

I'm not on T-Mobile.
When i bought this phone, everything was working fine, then i installed hard spl and put custom rom and after that internet connection doesn't work. It worked with stock rom and automatic settings but now doesn't, and i even tried entering all settings manually but no luck. Phone connects to data connection but there is no activity on that connection (0 bytes sent/ 0bytes received) no matter what i do, nothing goes through.

My Xperia X1 supports and works fine with T-Mobile 3G. So doesn't support doesn't compute...

I solved my problem: my data connection need proxy server to connect to internet but i just removed that checkbox from connection proxy settings and now data connection works
