I would assume in his ROM he would have everything set up to overclock if so desired...
Am I wrong? Do you have to add OMAPClock? Is there something else? If it's already cooked in...where? Steps?

Hi! If you're referring to his latest and greatest ROM, OMAP isn't in it, but he has smartskey running and installed. Just edit smartskey.ini (in the Windows directory) and throw in OMAPClock in the same directory. That should do it!
I used smartkey before so I have the smartkey.ini and OMAPClock stored in my computer. I just drop those two files in /Windows directory and I'm set to go.
i really don't understand why people like to complicate it so much.
Just make a shortcut to omap with desired speed, copy link to windows/start menu/programs and then you can select it when you change actions for soft buttons in settings.
I have mine under IE button because i don't use internet and it instantly changes speed to 260mhz.
Alternative is battery status today plugin which also can handle speed adjustments and can even speed up device automatically every time you turn it on.
For performance it's actually better to leave the smartskey.ini alone and use the BatteryStatus cab in the \Installers folder. I set mine to OC to 260MHZ and to set on wakeup. When your device comes out of standby, if using smartskey.ini to set your omapclock, you will drop down to the default speed.
Smartskey and BatteryStatus are two of the best lil proggies out there!

I believe both of those programs are included in one of molski's roms, I've had a couple on phone and remember them.......
My question, is there a place you can get those programs without having to extract them from the rom upgrade?????
Thanks,

Well, I've seen BatterySatus in the \Installers folder but never even bothered playing with it. That is far superior to anything else I've used thus far. Good call, and thanks for making things just a bit easier for me (and some others, I'm sure).
Use BatteryStatus, it's THE program for overclocking, I never use anything else!

I just modifie the smarkey.ini to eliminate OMAP and used BatteryStatus to O/C to 234Mhz.
I did not realize that BatteryStatus included overclocking when I installed my first Molski ROM the other day, so I went ahead with OMAP and OMAP Plus.
Three questions:
1) If I'm not going to use BatteryStatus as a Today plugin, will it still overclock?
2) Assuming the answer to #1 is yes, how do I get to BS configuration when BS is not loaded as a Today plugin? Can;t find a link or exe anywhere.
3) To uninstall OMAP and Plus, I;m planning on reverting back to 195, and then unistalling. Is that OK?

The term cooked generally means the ROM has been modified.
There are several media players that can be used, my favourite is TCPMP which is free, only does divx, xvid, avi, mpg, wmv and the like.
Programs generally install to the main memory, wether you have a SD card or not.
If you bought a copy of Tomtom you will have the newest map, if not, try find it using torrents.
Sorry it's brief and to the point but it's late and I have work early in the morning.
Good luck.

low mem due to progs in ext rom
just came across this & had an immediate thought which may or not be of use!...
cooked into the rom means that the programs SETUP files r in the rom but wen the prog runs for the first time it'll install to default (usually main mem) then run from there causing major mem usage hence "the main memory has gone down consideranly"!
the best way of runnin ur pda is store the basic rom installation files, trying them with combos of programs & finding the best config 4 ur needs.
hope this helps

Alarm using MP3s:
There is no way to use a mp3 on the standard phone, you will need some 3rd party software that has an alarm function. SPB time maybe, not sure but have a look at their site.
If having a loud alarm tune is your priority (i.e. not to have lovely music to wake you up), you can always convert the mp3 into a WAV to put into your device WINDOWS dir to be used as alarm.
Be careful. I tried putting on a 3MB WAV as alarm before and it seems to whacked my unit a bit, need to do a soft reset. So, don't try anything too big.
ALARM
GOOGLE for MORTPLAYER - a freeware which allows you to set alarms too
Re: ALARM
Hi All,
Converting file into wave does work. But there is this free 3rd party software called MobiAlarm which works perfectly fine and you can use any mp3 song as your wake up alarm. You can download the same from the following link:

Ok everyone, the next "incantation" of the TuMa ROM is now available!
This ROM is a radical expansion and departure from mamaich's original. I've replaced a number of elements which were OMAP code, with XScale code - taken from the Himalaya, Jasjar, and various ROMs I have had access to. I've also upgraded some applications, and put duplicates of different versions in as well (to determine which is better), and have added other various features, tools, and widgets.
The ROM requires a fair amount of testing now, and the only way I believe this can be done would be to let "everyone" at it and see how it goes. There is a LOT of untested functionality in the ROM, as I don't have access to a number of devices or configurations. So, feedback is definately needed!
There have been a LOT of changes in this ROM, and because of this I'd like to term this ROM as being an ALPHA version. If you have the will and the way, give it a go. I'm finding the performance even better (so far) - but it's only been an hour of testing, and in truth ... I've only managed to test very little of it. 8)
Considerations for this ROM:
All core elements of WM5 are now in the ROM. This includes the previously removed Pocket Powerpoint, Excel, and other files. So, all of the CAB files which I've created specifically for this ROM can be OPTIONALLY installed!
There are now 3 CABs by default in the EXTROM folder:
1). Midlet Manager
2). Arcsoft MMS Composer
3). IA Camera
This means that the ROM should be directly usable in devices without a Camera. If you have such a device, then make sure that you don't install the CAB file (just cancel it)!
If you do have a Camera, you MUST install the Camera AFTER the MMS Installation, as I've chained the two installations together. MMS will install without Camera, and then the Camera CAB will enable the Camera in MMS Composer.
One thing - localization is set to "New Zealand" (since that's where I am), so some of you will need to change this back to your region. (Sorry - it's my ROM after all )
The ROM is in /Uploads/Blue Angel/wm5_test/WM5 BA - TuMa v1.1.zip
Contents: nk.nbf, and the EXTROM folder with CAB files - so, update the operator and Flash away ...
Explore the features, test all of the elements, and let me know if everything is working properly.
All the best of luck with it!
*** D-OH! First Bug ... The "Contacts" SoftKey is wrong ... just open up the SoftKey Control Panel Applet and reset it ... works fine then. Sorry Guys. :-(

Hmmm ... I had this as well when I was building this ROM myself. I think it's because some folders have been specified as "PermDir()", and the shortcuts are being kept.
For anyone experiencing the same problem try this:
(NOTE: This will require a HARD RESET & REBUILD)
1). Run "File Explorer" and goto "My Device"
2). Tap and Hold "My Documents", then select "Delete" and delete everything
3). Tap and Hold "Program Files", then select "Delete" and delete everything
4). goto "Windows"
5). Tap and Hold "Start Menu", then select "Delete" and delete everything
6). Tap and Hold "Startup", then select "Delete" and delete everything
Then HARD RESET your device, select "Format Storage", and "Clear Registry", and the duplicates should be gone.
I think I may have messed something up in the formatting specifications for the Flash Storage device ... i.e. it checks the existing format, and if it's still ok, it keeps all permament items around. This is probably BUG #2. *sigh*
Let me know how you get on ...

Installed the upgrade, did note the above problem. In step 2) and 5) files exist that prohibit the folder deletion, like PIE in step 5. Not sure why I get a different response than nks. Ended up deleting the duplicate entries in the Start Menu.
This version is much faster, great work.

Thanks heaps for the feedback!
Right ... I think my reworking of the Flash Storage specification - while improving the performance, has had a few other 'odd' side effects. Probably the SD Card buffering/paging has been affected, and similarly resulting in the double menu items.
As for the ActiveSync disconnect issue - I did have that happen to me just now as well. Very strange though, I simply opened another "explorer" window, and everything came back immediately. Maybe I've changed the timeouts/timing for the usb driver too much.
One really BIG question though - since you're using a SX66, did everything work flawlessly for you with respect to the NON-Camera installation (i.e. just cancelling the CAB install?). Is MMS fully operational and everything else working?
I'll try to have a look into this sometime (very late) tonight after I get my "real" work done now.
Oh ... and on the "bad news" front ... I'm going to be away again for another 2 weeks now - this time in Germany, going to be exhibiting at Cebit - leaving Sunday. *sigh* a bit last minute and unexpected all this.
Hopefully though, I'll have time enough to do some patches or an upgrade to the ROM for anything which is found before that time. So keep testing and letting me know!
Hello Mr. T Great work by the way !!! it really works great, much faster and responsive!! you will be a saint for all us geeks !!!
I have my first bug to report! in hopes of furthering the development.
there is no support (at least for me) for MIDI as ring tone, it does not play. also I get the following error when trying to play in WM "The source filter for this file could not be loaded."
well just happy to report! cheers!!
Great Work!!
another thing, I really believe that the problem with WM5 for BA is the phone side of the ROM I really think that there is an incompatibility issue here. because when I use the device with Radio off, it works perfect! on every issue.

I deleted the Camera CAB and modified the cfg.txt file before copying the files to the EXTROM directory and flashing, same effect as cancelling the CAB install. It installed without error. I tried installing the camera cab on an earlier version with no adverse effects on the SX66, but I prefer not to have it around in the PDA. I like the option to pick and choose what to install.
I'm not a user of MMS right now, so I can't tell there. Pocket MSN works. The activesync connection dropping out does have something to do internet access, connection stays active until an attempt to connect to the internet. MSN and FTP don't appear to use the activesync connection when it is available.
Wifi works, but I can't thru the portal at the hotel I'm at tonight, so I can't do a full test. Don't have my bluetooth adapter with me to check it.
Removed the screen rotate tool from the tray, I prefer the special button 9 on the keyboard for that function.

NOTE: This is very easy to do for anyone else. All 'accessories' are simply loaded in the /Windows/Startup folder, so if you don't want something (like Cyberon Voice Dial, or Screen Rotate, or psShutXP, etc.) you can simply remove it from this directory, or disable it, and it'll no longer run. Similarly, all buttons are now configured as configurable buttons (not hard coded through registry, etc.) This way you can easily customize the device how you like it.
Remember, it's also not using any of your Storage memory for these 'extra' applications - so there's no cost in having or deleting them.
I'll check the board again in a little while ... must get back to work! I might be able to make a v1.1a later tonight, which will hopefully correct some of these initial problems which have been found. (If I find the time ... )

Is there anyway to, as they say 'overclock' the wizard. It's a great PPC/phone, but runs quite slow. Thanks. [/b]
try the search button. use querry "omap"
The utility in this thread is what you need: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=55782
It works on the Wizard, Charmer and Prophet. After installing you should find that you can run your device at 260Mhz rather than the factory set 195. 8)
Was able to download the battery-plug-in software. didn't damage anything on my wizard, but am not realy sure if it increased the speed or not. stil seems mighty slow.
You'll find this by searching too, scattered about. Programs like SPB Diary, SPB Pocket Plus make the Wizard sluggish even when you've overclocked. I learned the hard way to be very choosy about programs that run automatically. Today agenda, SPB weather, PHM Traylaunch and Batterystatus are the only things on my today screen. Smartskey insures that practically nothing is running in the background. I have the latest rom, and I used Xelencin's version (now my own version) so that I have much more space on the device. The effect of all this is that my device is very snappy, except when it decides it needs to talk with the network at length and a good 15 seconds can go by while it does something with the network. Then it just doesn't do anything for 15 seconds, which seems like an eternity when you are about to show someone something, need to check an address or phone number, etc. But 90% of my complaints went away when I eliminated automatic programs, many of which I'd spent money on. It isn't that these programs don't offer functionality, they do, but most of that functionality is also offered by programs that have a smaller footprint.

I like SPB Diary and Pocket Plus though. Between the larger cache trick and OCing it with battery status, the speed is fine for me. It was a mite too slow without the OC.
After using it for a little less than half a day, I do feel that there is some improvement in terms of speed. However, it still pales in comparison with the xda mini which I used to use. Is this the maximum speed that the wizard can process?
omapclock
Do you have omap running? I run mine at 247MHz but some people are running as high as 260 and report stability.

Yes - 260Mhz is just fine. 8)
I use omapclock and clock to 264 MHz with it, rock solid at that speed, but higher speeds are no go. The battery plugin shows 286 MHz when omapclock says 264 though
Yeah, have mine running at 260mhz, but don't see much improvement still. Am i doing something wrong? I copied the cab file into the main memory (but not directly into the windows folder), then executed it.

How do you know it is at 260?
If you use batterystatus, you can toggle back and forth from 260 to 195. That way you know if it is running and how fast. It doesn't need to be in Windows; mine is in My Documents/Programs. But it needs to be turned on; it is off by default even if installed, which is why I asked.
most of the time when i go to play songs it gives me the critically low memory and will only let me close the audio manager program. I've got a 6mb page pool. I'm using the tmob wing base RUU which probably eats up a ton of RAM though. So are there any suggestions on how to go about fixing this or freeing up more memory?
I'd like to make an ultra lite release for the wing. But I don't have much time to learn how to cook right now...
Audio manager took up significantly less memory than WMP for me. Do you have the audio manager installed to your device or memory card (I can't remember if it gives you the option)?
Also, how many mp3s (I assume) are you trying to play? Check to see how much memory you have left after you open audio manager. Make sure you have other programs closed as well--meaning they don't show up in the task manager; not just pressing the OK button to minimize the program.
It's installed directly to the device. Also, It happens when I open an album usually, which is like 13 songs. It scans the files by there tags so it's hard to get around it.
Everything in the task manager is closed as well. I believe it's just the low amount of memory available on the Tmob default RUU (even with 6mb page pool). I'm waiting for a lighter weight firmware to come along.
sorry wrong topic..

Why not just do the quick pagepool fix. Then you don't have to worry about reinstalling a rom or anything, it's all automated and just adjusts your pagepool size. Takes like 2 seconds, plus reboot.
yeah thats what ive been using. im about to try "TMO Wing Original ROM with TouchFlo added" wish me luck.
I have had the same problem.
I am using the stock tmo wing rom.
are the newer roms worth it. I know they where when I had the mda, but feel like treating the Wing as a much more sacred devise
yeah man the roms people are releasing are way better. i think they all pretty much have htc home built in by default (including audio manager) and they don't give me any memory problems.
i recommend trying out touch~itv2.0, just make sure you have the t-mobile RUU downloaded in case of brick(it happened to me alot until i standardized my rom flashing procedure, and even then it still happens sometimes)
the only thing is that if you wish to try touch~it v2.0 windows media player is set as the default for htc home so to change it to audio manager follow these directions:
1.open up either total commander or phm regedit (they both are included in touchit2)
2. navigate to HKLM/Software/HTC/Music Plug-in and change the music player value from 1 to 2
3. start the audio manager from the programs folder and then exit it
4. soft reset
worked perfectly for me just keep in mind touchit2 has the wing default page pool size of 12mb so you'll want to use quick page pool changer (the one with all the batch files) and set it to like 4mb or 6mb. and overclock too so you get better performance.
once htc home is integrated with audio manager correctly and you have a memory card it's like having a really nice touch screen mp3 player
let me know if this works alright for you!
Thanks I took the plunge today.
Installed Touch it lite. I bricked the phone 2 times, but am up and running. I like it so far, much better.
I feel like a donkey for waiting so long
yeah i had touch it lite for a day. and then i tried to flash to pdaviet .14, but it just kept bricking my phone. so then i tried flashing to touchit lite again but it just kept bricking my phone so i ended up just using the official RUU for a day or so and then flashing touch~it2, which i think is the best so far. you should try it if you have any stability problems with touch~it lite.
It's day 2 so far. Lite is working just right. But will keep the version 2 in mind should I feel the need. Clocked at 260 and ticking right on
yah i had mine at 260 as well but it kept freezing and crashing and rebooting so i lowered down to 247. everything works fine anyways

No apps what-so-ever, just a basic, base rom, that includes a folder full of cabs, with a launcher than allows you to select which cabs to install.
Flash the new rom, then manually exec the launcher, put ticks next to the apps you want, networks you want setup etc, then hit the go button and sit back while your device gets only the stuff you actually want installed.
Thats my ideal!

I agree. No panels either. Completely basic.

ROTFL! "Panelstine"! MUHAHAHA...
The idea for the basic ROM with separate CAB folder sounds great.
I'm also a big fan of Windows Side Show, if you haven't seen it yet you should definitely sheck it out. It's an app using BlueTooth to control your Vista machine, e.g. Windows Media Player, PowerPoint, Outlook, Facebook, etc. Very cool app I must say, but if the basic ROM will get cooked I can install that again myself.
As well as also liking to choose! I would also like to see Remote Sim Access for connection to certain handsfree car kits...
This notion of installing cabs after the flash is all well and good but they will take up storage space, you can't install them to the rom after the flashing procedure so they need to be built in before the flashing procedure to get them into the rom space, maybe one day there'll be a simple chooser to allow people to build their own roms but it's still a long way off..
There is a system to allow people to install their own cabbed software automatically it's called UC and developed by Sleuth255 there's a config builder for it here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=371832
the rom needs to be built as UC compliant to do this but that's not hard.
The Rom has 512mb of space, this can't be used after a rom has been flashed, so unless you fill it with applications it's going to remain empty and be wasted. it shouldn't be used for apps that get updated regularily 'cos that's a pain to overwrite, or commercial apps 'cos that restricts what people can use.
IMHO It's better to have all the essential apps (and things like tf3d) built into the rom and save the 256mb of storage for apps that are updated frequently or commercial stuff.
Hi
I see what you mean, but given that the X1 has loads of storage, I cant see post install of apps being an issue. You would have to install every app on the planet to fill 256MB? Apps that have huge requirements (tom-tom etc) would just use the SD card?
Additionally, this would mean that those apps had an entry in 'remove programs' and thus could be easily upgraded when new ones came out - or removed if no longer required. Also, you would not need to flash a new rom just to get the latest TF3D installed.
Personally, I just don't have the time to re-flash more than once every 6 months - it takes too long to get the device back into a state where its usable again.
I think this convenience is a small price to pay for under utilising the 512MB of ROM.
