Hello people,
I'm new to posting on this forum so please go ease on me I've been reading the forums for quite some time now, since i have my wizard (back in June i think). That is when i unlocked and flashed my Wizard with a WM6.1 rom. And this was succesfully, i'm very happy with it and never had any problems, hooray!
So far so good, but this all changed untill recently. Some weeks ago, my Wizard started acting funny, it kept rebooting at random moments. It's not in a loop or something, it just reboots on random moments. In calls, in games, in the menu, just random.
Now i know this is not a software problem, since i never changed any software after flashing and i also have these random reboots when in bootloader....
Can anybody help me with this?
I should also note that i suspect my battery, since it looks old, slightly bulged out but most importantly, my battery life is normal when not calling, but after a call the battery can be drained from 100% to 30% with just one short phone cal..
/edit: Just had another reboot, this time i looked at the battery meter....It was full when i turned on the phone, and now it says my battery is empty...Now i really suspect the battery Just want to rule out anything else
I had similar issues - and the battery was the culprit. Get a new battery, your troubles should go away
Did you also happen to have other problems, regarding calling itself? My friends complain a lot about my not picking up my phone or reading text messages, and when i check my Wizard the calls are not there.....and a lot of people calling me get my voicemail directly when calling me, that shouldn't happen :/ All this when i have full reception :S Could this also have something to do with the battery? My guess is not but i sure hope so, that would solve two problems at once

Those are more than likely software related issues. Can be the rom itself, or the radio version you are using.
Which WM 6.1 did you flash, can you provide some details as to IPL/SPL - radio version, etc ??
For instance, my IPL / SPL is 2.26
My radio version is 2.26 also
Had a very similar experience to yours myself. A new battery fixed the problem. I dunno about that bulging battery of yours... sounds a bit ominous.

Erm let's see, i also flashed the IPL/SPL and radio software after the romflash, IPL/SPL is now 3.08 and GSM (radio?) is now 02.25.11. I think it used ti be 2.26 before flashing. As for the rom, i can't remember. I did some searching on the forum and i think it's [02 Jul] Wm.6.1 Os.19588 - Dutch - Beta! wich can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393841&highlight=dutch

I took some time and went through the threads for the Dutch Beta, but am limited by my language. I flash english versions only - so not much help I am afraid.
I would recommend you post your dropped and missed call issue directly into the rom you identified above - others may be having - or had similar issues and a quick easy fix is available.
But in the end - you need a battery for sure
Good luck
Okay, just ordered a brand new battery today wich should arrive tomorrow by mail When my Wizard proves to be stable i will flash a new ROM and see if that fixes that problem as well Many thanks for your help
P.S: I'm looking for a battery cover and a stylus, since my battery cover is missing one hook (so it won't close perfectly) and i never had a stylus since i bought my Wizard from a friend, who lost it
Hey Johrizz,
You should be able to find a stylus and battery door on google shopping and / or ebay. I just ordered a pack of stylus's for a couple bucks and a dollar for shipping. I've seen battery door's for sale for about 8-10 dollars... Just make sure to notice the shipping charges LOL.
I don't know if it's really required but here's what I tend to do with a new battery and have had good success.
1) for the first charge (and anytime I'm going to flash a new ROM) charge it fully (till the light is green and not orange) with the AC charger and not the USB / computer cable.
2) flash a stock operator rom and test it for a day or so to make sure the Wizard doesn't have some other hardware problem, weird battery drainage, etc.
3) Once you're sure that your Wizard is stable and FULLY CHARGED Flash your favorite ROM
Good luck with it!
hey frendz
pls help me
my newely bought htc diamond gets excessive
hot if used for 20-30 minutes pls help ASAP
Regards -- zenith
Have you thought for a watercooling? Iam just kidding..
I dont think you can do anything for this. All diamonds gets hot. The only thing you can do is not run a stress aplication for many hour, and do a break ..
Change the radio version. I'm sure someone will be more helpful and explain . I used to have that problem, but no longer have it.
I used to have this problem too, changing my radio version to 1.00.25.05 solved the problem. Read this tutorial, very helpful.
The truth is this, Diamonds are typically warm blooded, the manual speaks to this clearly that this is normal.
Now changing the Rom or Radio can play a role in how efficient your diamond is.
The harder it works, the warming it gets. I find that trying a variety of different radios for the sake of sound quality, signal and battery life are definitely valid paths.
As far as Roms are concern, I haven't investigating enough to comment however my thoughts are directed to the idea that roms will impact on how your diamond behaves as far as battery life and how warm your device gets.
HTC TyTN II Battery: I hope not to be OT ..... I played with several ROMs, especially by the great chef AF.
Recently I brought my assitance Kaiser so I reported it to the original Radio ROM. Returning dall'asssitenza I left the original ROM, replacing only the radio 1.71.09.01 with Emo.
To the surprise performance of the original WM6.1 increased. I have doubts about battery life, that with normal use (a few phone calls and various connections) and the battery life of approximately 30 hours. On the duration seems normal.
Ovvimente return to more 'open to some excel ROM 6.5. Have good day
30 hours so a day + on 6.5 chillax it's pretty normal
b.t.w removed your double post
I also have a battery problem, my tytn2 lasts less then a day with normal use (calls, sms, mails, pdf reader, 3g connection). I was adviced by the chef AF to change my radio to 1.65.16.25 and i'm trying it out today: few calls, sms, 20min pdf reader, updated the weather and i took from the charger at 08:00 it's now 15:40 and still have 75% of my battery. If you are saying that radio 1.71.09.01 is even better i will try it out.
Question: How does the radio influences the rom besides sound and camera???
I have been looking for an explanation but still haven't found one. I really would like to know what it is and what it does to my device.

Thanks for the reply. Although it doesn't answer my question. I need my tytn to be reliable and it must last at least a day. I can't be testing every radio that is available risking myself to be without a phone when i need to be connectable at all time. Anyone can give me a feedback about the best (performance/durability) for my tytn. I use the rom from AF (sorry it's the "competition") and i find it very complete and reliable. The only thing that is bugging me is the battery life. I've read that the 1350mah (dynapac) isn't much of a long lasting thing but even though, less then a day???????? I had a touch before this and i sold it because of the battery life.

Well then the answer is to stay on stock with the matched radio as will have had previously, since time is what is needed just like what chefs put into cooking..
Didn't post about it's down to the user just because i like people to take time it's a must as no one will have exact the same credentials as you.
I get about 2-3 days out of my ROM, another thing you could look into is extended battery's
WOW up to 3 days with your rom, normal usage i presume??? A bit like i do???
We are talking about v5 right??? If that's the problem i will flash it and try it out for a few days........ Please advice.... rom and radio???

Read faq #4.....the radio isn't really a " radio " in the sense of the word. It is firmware.
I personally think that the mater the " firmware " version significantly affected battery life is still up for debate. But the proof is in the putting. So try different ones for yourself and let us know.
Thanks for your reply, how is the rom from stylez behaving?? I see you have radio 1.65.24.xxx but you're also in the U.S. I don't have the time to "try" other radios since the tytn2 is my main device and i need to be connectable at all time. Just this week i needed to make some calls and i got a odd response from my boss: or buy a new phone or get lost!!!!!! So i need my tytn2 to "behave " at least from 08:00 untill 22:00.

Stylez' rom is great, hands down the best 6.1 out there. I use 1.65.xxxxx because that is the one that came with my stock AT$T rom so I have found no need to change it. Stylez is in UK and uses 1.70.19.09 and that works well for him.
If you don't have the time to test, find others from Portugal and see what they are using or look at people's signitures in Stylez' thread and see what other people are using

THX & sorry for duplicte
Hi,
I am soon to be the happy owner of a MDA Compact V. I have been very impressed with my MDA Compact III that I decided to go for the new version. I will be looking into tuning my phone to achieve the following main goals:
- Increased battery life
- Simplify the phone for push email, phone , text, sat nav use only. I will be aiming on streamlining the phone so that I will have optimal battery life.
If anyone wants to recommend a ROM for this, I would be very grateful, otherwise I will start with the HTC original rom (I don't like the pink T-mobile colours).
I presume that I will have to hard-spl unlock my phone before I can load the original HTC Rom? Is there anything else I have to do?
Cheers,
D
Hard SPL is the first step, then you just need tro find a ROM that suites your needs. Most are fully optimized for performance. There are many chefs to choose from, Dutty, Energy, etc.....
Bruce,
Thanks for your help.
I have gone through the beginners guides by drag-on which have cleared things up for me.
I will have to do some forum searching and find a rom that is aimed at battery life (I am willing to sacrifice performance - as it will already be soo much faster than my Compact III...).
The other question I had was, once I SIM unlock my phone, will it be the same as the Hard SPL install that it is permanent, and is not affected by installing ROM's?
Cheers guys,
D
Thanks for taking the time to read.
Yes, SIM unlocking and HSPL need only be done once and are not affected by flashing ROMs.
You have to flash SSPL back to your device for warrranty exchanges.
Excellent.
Sounds like I'll be making a painless start.
Doing homework helps!
I am impressed with this site / forum, there is some serious passion here, which I am happy to see.
Now I just have to decide whether my gamble was right and that I reckon the MDA version really does look good in black... Pitty about the T-mobile logo on the case and the plug over the mini usb port. I am also waiting for the day HTC puts a normal headphone jack on the pone.
I am also considering giving my good old MDA Compact III a fresh battery and a new ROM. It has done so well with the standard ROM (I got used to it crashing But I want to optimise it for the G/F to have a small sat nav to leave in her purse so she can get home when out and about in the car and got herself lost again... My only niggle with it was that the sat nav localisation was pretty slow at times.
Happy Cooking !
D
The USB port cover is easily removable and I suggest doing it because it interferes with plugging in a wider USB plug found on some adaptors. Can't be good on the USB pins. I always try to pamper the port because if it goes, your screwed.
Many skins and covers available for these so color customizing is easy. But black is sleek.
Check out the new Bing for a quick little nav program. It now has voice turn by turn directions.
GPS locks are quite fast if you have AGPS enabled and have the latest Quick GPS data.
Happy flashing!
just thought i'd post to explain the problems i had and what solved it.
Bought phone on ebay with
radio 1.58.25.17
and WM 6.5 can't remember which version but definaley cooked
Phone kept showing bizarre battery readings and would shut down after taking a few photos or occasionally when reciveing calls and making calls
installed new rom but still no joy, so decided to install a the shipped orange 6.1 rom and radio and now works fine. This obviously won't go down to well with you guys and after reading someone's post a changed radio might have done the job just as well. Have to say thou even thou the orange version is a bit bloated it does the job and solved the problem
hope this helps someone and thanks for all the info and time from everyone on this forum.
