Hi guys,
one question: if I include programs like Total Commander, pocket RSS reader, etc. in the ROM.
do they require less program memory than if I install them after I have installed the ROM?
Thanks

Hello everyone, I just wanted to know if there is a way to find out what programs are installed in the device's main memory and which ones are installed on the memory card. I am running out of device memory and would like to uninstall some programs but I need to know where they are first in order to see if I need to keep them where they are or not. Thanks

Browse the devise using File Browser and look under Program Files or /Storage Card/Program Files
With the latest rom upgrade to 1.37 the diamond is much snappier and is much much better than its original rom 1.35.
What is disappointing though is that the diamond comes with only 60Mb free storage for the user as compared to 115-150mb for the kaiser or tytnII(all these devices comes with 256mb rom)
Htc ought to install some of its default programs and files eg opera, music, ringtones and pictures, etc that had occupied space in the rom(storage) into its internal storage which had 4 gig instead of using the precious rom space that had only 256mb thereby freeing the rom storage space for additional programs to be install by the user.
Perhaps some rom developer can make a clean rom and the default programs can be installed into the internal storage as cab files subsequently
If the above is done the diamond will definitely shines.
I am therefore looking forward to using the touch pro as it comes with 512mb rom and therefore I assume that the free rom storage should be adequate for the user to install a lot of additional programs

Where can one get the updated ROM? I just got my diamond a week ago.. its sluggish at times.. freeze's atleast once every other day.. etc.. I am currently running 1.34.831.1 WWE.
Thank you in advance.
according to the htc helpdesk version 1.37 is not much different from 1.35
it is just a new country rom.

Huh? What's the point of that? Why not just install your user apps to the storage? Besides, installing factory-shipped apps in a user-deletable area is a crazy idea.

This will happen. Why you'd want to waste space installing the optional apps into your precious storage space instead of the spare ROM space intended for that purpose I don't know though...

so you get 256MB (probably actually a lot less, they'll install more) more ROM, and that's better how?

Do you use pie? (pocket internet explorer) for the internet? try deleting your cookies and temporary files from there.

ROM solution
I had a similar problem. The way I solved it was to back everything from the device memory up (apart from the system files) using a backup application like SPB backup and then flash a new and efficient ROM (something like Dutty's 6.1hybrid v.2).
As far as I remember there is an app called TreeSize which can show you in tree-view folders and files that are the biggest and eat your memory space. It can help you with deleting files.
If you take a lot of pictures with your phone, I've found I can only save them to the phone. I have to move them over to the sd card via Total Commander. Might check your pix folder...
i have the sprint stock daimond and i actually like the stock sprint rom except for it was lacking in memory but i was browsing through windows and there are a few cab file that put together take up about 12mb of memory and way to delete them tried with total commander and cannot delete them
Hi There,
After installing a v4.1.2 ROM on my old X8 and finding out I can't even install Whatsapp on it due to lack of space (31MB free), I'm looking for the slimmest ROM available.
I don't even care if it's a v2.3 ROM. As long as there's enough space to install whatsapp.
Thanks in advance.

You can install it but you need to free enough space. It may requires up to x2 space available, which means 62 mb.
Dear Stamatis,
I didn't install ANYTHING on the phone after installing the custom ROM.
I can't increase the free space to move than 31MB. That's the problem.

use minicm7
I found a workaround.
whatsapp grow beyond what you can download and install from google play in a X8, so In order to install or upgrade, you need to download the official apk from whatsapp com /android/ to the SD card, then, uninstall whatsapp if you have it outdated, install the apk, then move it to the SD, only 9mb will remain used from the phone memory
( I started with 31, the same as you, after cleaning I got 33mb, then after instilling whatsapp, I don't now why, I have 36mb free )
hope it helps anyone searching in Google like me.
Have you connect your phone with google account? If so, that will update google play service which is about 150 MB so far. So you need app that is called Link2SD which you can use to move google play service to your SD card and free up space on your phone (internal storage). This might be possible with native App2SD option but I never tried it.
Good luck
