Hi i have a Wizard G4 device. I have these 2 roms from xda ftp server, they state different names but file size are the same.
So my question are?
1.) Is there any difference between these 2 roms?
2.) If so what can i use best?
3.) Can they be used on my G4 wizard, I have device unlocked on site www.imei-check.co.uk
4.) Is this rom language in Dutch or English
5.) Are these the latest Dutch Qtek rom updates
6.) Is this rom older then my t-mobile rom, see my signature
I hope i gave enough information
RUU_Prodigy_2180706_21807106_20710_QTEK_DUT_Ship.exe (49.09 mb)
RUU_Prodigy_2180706_21807106_20710_QTEK_Generic_DUT_Ship_2.exe (49.09 mb)
any advice here?
I don't have the answer to your question, but my advice would be to spend some more time scouring the forum for your answer. If you haven't used the search feature yet, you should give it a try. It's helped me quite a bit

hi,
im very new with smartphones, actually its my first one (upgraded from samsung d600) i must state that before opening a new topic i did some search and wasnt able to get a clear view of how to do things...well that why im asking here for little guidance from fellow users with much more experience with this device...
well my main problem is that i have buy the device over the net and its in german language...after going thru forums i understand that can be fixed by updating it with an english rom, so i did register myself on qtek website got the latest wwe rom, thn i have notice that people have suggest to use the "Lokiwiz02b" unlocking tool before doing the update, my question is after i used the "Lokiwiz02b" tool how will i know that my device is unlocked? its already sim lock free...if its possible someone could layout a step by step guide? coz i dont want to end up with a dead qtek 9100...
my second question is that do i need to have a firewall and antivirus on the device? is it important ? if yes then which one ?
well in the end i would also like to add that its a great forum but i would have liked to see a "pinned" post for the first time users explaining step by step how to update the rom on there device...would have answered a lot of questions automatically...
thanks,
i||uSi0n^
Guide is in the lokiwiz thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33796
For other roms the CID unlock is important not the sim(un)lock!
there ist never a warranty for devices, all you do is at your own risk!
And i don't think AV and Firewall are necessary.

thanks but i had that thread in the fav. list...well it seems there is a way to do the unlock thing on newer version of qtek, get an older rom install it and then unlock n update to latest rom...what is still not clear is how to update rom...i like the way "lokiwiz" explains all in clear n simple way...can some'1 just put up step by step instrusctions on that rom update too? would be nice!
well here is what i have understand from reading a lot of threads on this forum:
ROM i plan to update to: 186504-ruu_9100_2170702_21707102_20710_qtek_wwe_ship
1) use "lokiwiz" as described in above theard
2) i plug the device in to USB and let ActiveSync to start (making sure i have more then 50% of batt. life on device)
3) then i run the executeable ROM upgrader from my pc
4) after the ROM is installed, the device will reboot
and thats its right? please correct me if im wrong.
one more thing that is unclear to me is what are the other things like "Radio, Protocol, Ext. ROM, GSM" etc ? are these all updated with the ROM update?
thanks,

i-mate and qtek ROM's
Just to add my two cents to this. I have tried both the qtek and the i-mate 2.x roms and find that the i-mate one is less problematic.
Also, after much forum reading, it seems that people are having more issues with the qtek rom then the i-mate.
Just something to keep in mind.

Seriously!
I'm real new to this PDA stuff, and you all speak latin to me.
What I can tell you is this:
- I have a QTEK 9100, with ROM version 1.6.7.1.WWE
- My QTEK is full of bugs. LOL!
- Someone installed Sprite backup for me, and I can take a backup to SD now.
- I'm in Belgium, and my GSM-provider is Proximus (dunno if that's important)
But what I don't know is
- how do I find out what the latest ROM version is?
- And how do I find out what the correct ROM version is (does that depend on the operator?)
- Where do I download the ROM?
- How do I install it without losing any data?
Really sorry 4 the dumbass questions!
Thanks,
J.
Well
Very Clear You Haven't read any of the posts in this forum.
let me tell you in short: as a beginner you can can upgrade to the latest ORIGINAL ROM without any problem. and when you read enough posts you will know how to upgrade to unofficial ROMs safely.
you can find the official rom on qtek's website.
have fun
Re: Well
Oh but I >HAVE< read on this forum. Up to page 10 I've been, reading posts. The more I read, the more confused I get.
Note that I tried to register @ myqtek.com, but I get this; Not a valid IMEI# (only Brightpoint authorized original products are supported by this site. Contact your place of purchase for ongoing support of your device)
Yes, I am sure my number is correct (it is both on the box, and returned by *#06#)!
Some support eh?
Anyway, so that's why I ended up here.
Are the original ROM's not on this site as well? I found this on the ftp server: RUU_Prodigy_2170702_21707102_20710_QTEK_WWE_Ship.exe
Is that the latest one? Can I use that one?
Thanks!

Yes, this site has copies of most OEM Roms. The one you listed is the QTEK AKU 2.0 Rom which does have much improved stability and performance over the original shipped one. I should be the correct Rom for your Phone.
If you ever might want to install a custom or Non-standard Rom this would be the time to CID unlock your phone as it becomes much more difficult once you have upgraded to one of the AKU 2.x Roms.
I cannot download this and have also the same issue as u ! HELP PLS
Reading your post is my reality now... can u enlight me a little on this...
thanx

Hello everyone! I recently purchased an O2 XDA mini S. It was originally a German O2 contract and I want to change it to an english/american non O2 branded system. Which Rom should I update with? I have visted the wizard folder in the FTP, but there are so many different ROMs. I can't tell which ones are good plus meet the english / non-branded criteria.
Thanks for any assistance
(As you surely guessed, I'm not a developer. Please excuse errors in terminology etc. )
****EDIT - Just realized that this should go in Wizard updating. Please move if possible****
At first you must CID-unlock your phone, if you want any ROM with edited OS version.
And than you can flash: Faria`s ROM, Ridsoro`s ROM or mine and Jimm98y`s superrom, and others.
Look at the forum and choose that, what is best in your opinion
Make sure you do your reading before you do anything else. You can really **** up your phone if you dont know what your doing.
the WWE stands for world wide english.. i guess this is what ur looking for
There are thousands of posts on the same.
Maybe I can make the question simpler
What is the Best and Most Stable ROM available at the moment?
Is there a thread whcih contrasts all hese different ROMS?
I think that's a great question... in fact, the answer should almost be stickied:
"What is the best and most stable ROM for a non-advanced user?"
Gotta run; somebody should set up a poll. As of right now, and my knowledge is definitely limited, I'd vote for Molski 2.26 Final.
Which Rom to use
You're going to get as many answers as posts on this one. I think xelencin's is the best for newbies:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=274205
a poll on this would be cool.
Hey guys how would it be possible to change the OS language from Chinese to English on my O2 IIs?
Thank You in advance
Just choose rom you would like (with your favourite language) and then just load it. Everything (apart from ROMs - just pinpoint, I can upload it for you) is in Wiki. Start with choosing weather you want wm2003se or wm5.
i also wanna know it!
Hello what is the difference from wm2003se or wm5
I downloaded couple of ROMs from this site but it was saying that i got the wrong version installed on my pocket pc and can't upgrade.
If it's possible can i get a link where i can download ROMs, i would like to try both wm2003se and wm5
Thanks hope to hear from you soon
To know what is the difference between wm2003se and wm5 you have to read, read and read. Also some search can be affective. This question was answered milions of times.
To change ROM tou need to READ. Wihtout reading no rom shall be changed
Two hints:
1. Try to find out, what is rom you have now. WM2003SE or WM5
2. start reading EVEYRTHING what si written here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel
3. Experiment with Search button on this forum - this is really safe and cannot explode your computer.
4. When you will have problem, that Wiki page nor search button cannot help, feel free to ask.
5. Don't be suprised, when you will get more answers like mine or no answers, if you ask for something, that is covered in Wiki or can be easily found using Search button.
would any one have a working link of newer Rom ?
this one doesn't seem to work http://t-mobile.iris-global.com/files/BA_TMUK_14200_112_11300_Ship.exe
thanks jakubd manual helps
this helped me allot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=243652
and here is the link for the ROM: http://www.tm-phonedownloads.com/files/BA_TMUK_14200_112_11300_Ship.exe
If you need any specific file that was on XDA ftp server and is not available any more, just post request - I have backup of whole XDA ftp with all roms from the time.
The newest ROMs are @ rapid and proper links are in the wiki - how to upgrade to 1.42 section.
I own a Dopod D810
ROM version: 1.17.703.3
ROM date: 11/15/06
radio version: 1.24.00.11
protocol version: 32.57.7020.06H
and I was wondering how i could upgrade it from a WM5 to a WM6...
please help...I'm new at this..
please make it as detailed as possible...
thank you!
There's a couple of ways you can do this...
If you're happy to stay with an official Dopod ROM (or HTC as it's now the case) you can just download the upgrade from the HTC site here http://www.htc.com/au/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=43&act=sd&cat=all.
Another option is to have a look in the forums for any of the ROMs currently available...there's quite a few of them on here (I've been using the FInixNOver 3.3 ROM on my d810 for the last year or so and find it pretty good) and they're all slightly different (different preinstalled apps and display graphics and settings, some of them are "lite" versions so they take up less memory, that kind of thing)...the posts will all usually have screen shots as well as pretty detailed info for the ROMs too so you can see what you're getting.
Pretty much all of the ROMs on xda will come with an installer package so they're as easy to upgrade to as the official HTC ROMs too...you basically download the files, open them on your PC that you have the ActiveSync partnership with your phone on, the installer window pops up and you just follow the onscreen instructions - it's pretty simple and I had no problems at all the first time I did it. (if you have any doubts, download the HTC one as from memory the download actually comes with a PDF of the instructions, albeit that they're only half a page long).
I originally used the HTC upgrade, was happy enough with it for a while but then decided on the FInix ROM because of the better interface etc so it's all down to personal preference really. I'd suggest have a look through the forums, see what you think you might like and even try some out (obviously back everything up as a ROM upgrade will completely erase the phone).
Hope that helps...
