did someone tried the dopod wm6 rom on an HTC 3600?
Thanks
I did.
Works very well for me. No bug at all. I'm happy with it.
what about the fix time of the GPS?
any changes in speed of the whole system?
and the battery life time?
Thanks

I've upgraded my P3600 to WM6 (Australian ROM)
GPS - First detection is slow IMHO. After that it runs great.
Changes in speed - No changes so far I have noticed, in other words it still runs fast
Battery life - Is great depending on your usage. Just disable your infrared. That alone makes a lot of difference.
Where did you get the image ROM?
What is the difference between DOPOD and HTC Australian ROM?
Thanks

Does it matter where I got it from?.. Or do you want to know where you can get it?..
http://rapidshare.com/files/42337174/D810_ANZ_WM6_Upgrade_20070709.zip
I do not know what and if there is a difference is between DOPOD and HTC Australian ROM.
I just know that the ROM I used didn't have customized DOPOD screenlogo's/programs etc installed AND that I have only one issue since running this ROM but I think it's WM6 related:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=318013
All the OFFICIAL ROMs providing wm6 for trinity, so far, are from Dopod, including the rapidshare link above.
This is why it's called: 'D810' and not HTC P3600 in the link.
You may notice very few Dopod's customization, but it's still a ROM from Dopod, you can see, for instance, some Dopod's ringtones in the alarms and ring lists.
As far as the localized operator settings are concerned, I can't tell, since I did not install their extended ROM, I don't have any either, except for the ring tones I just mentioned before.
Regarding the new ROM performances, I think it has increased a lot from the previous April wm5 release from HTC: faster, better look etc.
The GPS is a little bit faster, but not much faster, but I think it has more to do with the new radio.
For example I could not get any fix with the 1.46.00.01 one from SEA. But it works quite well with the 1.46.20.01, from ANZ.
The most impressive improvement is the wifi connexion, which is stable, and fast. (it was a disaster with previous radios, especially the 1.38.x series.
Just to make myself more clear:
1)
I know all the trinity ROMs are made by HTC. What I meant is not 'made by Dopod' but, branded, designed for Dopod.
2)
I have read here before that wifi has nothing to do with radio but just with the ROM itself. I don't know, but what I can tell is that, the previous wm5 plus 1.38/1.41 radio series had always given me poor wifi performance.
But wm6 with 1.46. series is perfect in terms of wifi perfs.
At last do you think that flashing with an official ROM (Asian or Australian doesn't matter) i will not have any king of strange problem like with the wm6 coocked roms?
I want wm6 but i want all the features work on the device too.
Thanks for your patience, but i'm going to buy my HTC p3600 nad i will do only if i can have a perfectly working WM6 device with working GPS.
Thanks

Since there are no garantees there is a choice to be made. The P3600 is still unique in his features. It's the ONLY Window Mobile based PDA with 3G enabled and GPS onboard.
And what you do want to consider is that even if HTC releases a WM6 for Europe, there are no garantees that the ROM won't have any flauds.
Exactly, there is never 100% garantee to be fully satisfied and get no default or bug. This is why the reseller is there to offer you a one year garantee, so if you fancy the specs of the device go for it.
I don't want to start any debate about which programmers have more skills and more time to do proper job.
Individual ROM cooks are amazing and none of us will ever reach their skill levels, and they do it for free, just for the pleasure of sharing with us, so we owe them the greatest respect for that.
But obviously , after having tried both, I confirm that there are less conflicts and bugs in the official ROM than in the cooked ones.
Also because they take more risks by adapting applications that where not designed for the device (ex: touchflo and kaiser interfaces in trinity)
But I do believe that new cooked ROM from now on will be far more reliable than they were in before (wm6 ones), mainly because they now have a stable basis (the official dopod release) to make their own developments on.
So the difference might be slighter and slighter in those respects.
Explicit instructions for a dummy
Does this ROM update go as easy as the GPS unlock update?
I've done ROM updates that made you go through several activities and I just screw them up.
I'm looking for the simple version.
Jerry
Tried this and no luck
I have an HTC branded and unlocked P3600
I got this error:
Error 294 - Invalid Vendor ID
This update utility cannot be used for your PDA Phone.
Ideas?
No, it is not as easy as the GPS update ROM, and cannot be compare as you just experienced it because:
- it's not a HTC release, it's a DOPOD release, aiming at Dopod D810 clients, from South-east Asia and Australia-New-zealand.
- the ROM is heavy protected by its SPL to not install onto other CID devices.
- The previous Hard-spl crack doesn't work anymore and if you try to install it: luckily u'll get an error it will refuse to install, unluckily, it will get stuck in the middle of the install and you might even brick your device.
That's why you could not manage to install it. There are plenty of topics over this issue on this forum, you can try one of those workarounds, but take all responsibility if something unlucky happens during the upgrade process.
By the way: SIM unlocked, doesn't mean CID unlock, you can install any SIM card you want from any provider, but your phone's CID still belong to a language, a geographical area, and a manufacturer, which is HTC, not DOPOD ;-)
Come on guys...

no chance without spl bla bla stuff?
i just want to excute and install :-(
that is it..
read the link I gave you. it is very simple.
copy this file to your pocketpc and execute it! works in 10seconds..
I clearly should do more reading before attempting this
Well, from you link, i can see that the boot unlocker works but i can't get back to my device because it's stuck in a boot loader rainbow screen.
How do i get it back to the OS?
I told you so...
1)
Don't think it's easy and simple, every one got different skills and experience and you don't help the noobies by saying "flashing a SPL protected ROM is 'easy and simple, just use your brain'...
Better being warned of the worst, if you want to do your best...
2)
There is a sticky thread in this forum about 'how to unbrick or unstuck you phone after having failed to flash the Dopod's ROM.
Read it CAREFULLY and try it out.
3)
Next time you try, use Olibro SPL or, more simple and safe for beginners, try to flash a ROM without SPL/IPL.

can you give more info on where you're stuck? (what is shown on bootloader screen). i'm assuming you've tried a soft reset to exit bootloader...
it's not that hard to flash a rom, the official dopod wm6 included. follow the guide here which will allow you to flash it without the new spl. it's still recommended to flash hard spl before a ROM flash to be safe.
Hey there, i am using an HTC p3600 (trinity) for about 2 months now
i have the following firmware:
ROM version: 1.23.405
Radio version: 1.38.00.11
ExtROM version: 1.23.405.103
my main problems is the occasional hanging of the phone
my media card being unusable from media player from time to time until deleting the WMDRM and MSMETADATA folders, and a slow GPS lock time.
would you recommend me to update my ROM? and if so to what ROM?
Is it recommended to upgrade to WM6 (I'm not that hyped about it)
my p3600 is American.
I would recommend upgrading to reading mode. (ABR mode is still a little buggy and produces unpredictable results).
Your question has been answered so many times here.
Anyway. WM6 faster. More functionality. - which ROM? depends on your needs.
Set aside some time. Read. Flash. try before you buy - and I'm sure you won't be disappointed with the upgrade. (Go with a cooked ROM - the WIndows Mobile 6 for Trinity page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=359)

Asking Before Reading mode. was a joke. It makes the information easier to find if people read relevant threads - (where often the answer to their question can be found) - and if necessary ask a question in a relevant thread (or one where the same question has been asked even)
By creating a new thread to ask this age old question - read what people have already contributed first.
To give you a head start - Best ROM is the one that does what you want on your device. I would say for a WWE ROM (World Wide English) any of AX3L, mUn (Indogo), LVSW, bepe (sticky thread in the Trinity mobile 6 forum), PDAVIET, dopod WM6 ROMs are faster than WM5 and all OK (well the dopod one's not so clever). Threads with info for all these ROMs is available in the Trinity mobile 6 forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=359
You cannot upgrade ROM without losing your sofware installs (and anything else on the Trinity's memory).
And if you're sticking to WM5 don't bother flashing.
Check out: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Trinity_Upgrades and http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=359

Hey jerpelea. Thanks so much for getting this out, I loaded it up as soon as I got home Friday night. Observations so far:-
Pros:-
-Very fast loading, much faster than latest WM6.0 out for Mteor
-Very fast running, including loading apps.
-Visually, complete makeover. Much happier with this Today screen than any plugin I've seen.
-All software attempted to far works fine- Route66, Google Maps, Skype (as well as it does on the mteor anyway!).
Issues:-
-msn messenger not installed, however Today screen expects that it is there. When selecting to sign in from Today screen, it comes up with a connectivity issue immediately, however no connectivity issue exists. I can install WLM seperately, but would be ideal to have the sign in from the Today screen as intended. Also when I've installed the latest WLM, there is a strange issue where I cannot do backspace- the 'back' key does not delete text and move the cursor backwards. Makes MSN virtually unuseable for me.
-Phone intermittently does not resume from standby- is frozen. It is still flashing to say that it's on and connected, however no buttons will revive it- the only way to revive is to remove battery and reboot. When phone restarts new messages and emails come in- leads me to believe phone was frozen.
-Phone intermittently wakes up for no reason- have had the phone sitting next to me for a night, and it lights up brightly at random intervals.
I am blown away with this release- it's made my Dopod 595 my favourite phone to carry again, over my Hermes and Asus Halley. A few issues to be resolved obviously, but it's exciting that we're getting such recent builds of WM6 for our Mteor's.
Keep up the great work, holding my breath for the A3 release!!!
does it work with dopod 595 variants with forward facing camera? and also, can you please point us to SuperCID unlock guide? thanks

It sure does work with the 595, albeit with the issues mentioned in my previous post. I'm honestly not sure about the front-facing camera, hadn't tried it yet. Will try tonight and advise.
In terms of getting around the CID issues, there will be 3 registry edits you will need to make (need to copy regedit to phone and run to make changes), and also a piece of software to application unlock. This will make your phone Application Unlocked.
You then put Des' SSPL on the phone, run it and immediately press the power and camera buttons. It will then start with the special SSPL, which gets you around the CID locking. You can in theory update via the update software (RUU) after this, however I have always upgraded via putting the rom onto the memory card as "BREEIMG.NBH". There is packaging software that will allow you to put your own choice of radio, rom, splash-screen's etc together.
In terms of the SSPL process, this is very well documented on the forum. Just take a look. I would not attempt the SuperCID process suggested- which involves loading the Hermes unlock tool to the phone. The hardware may be the same, however the command to enter the bootloader is not, I have bricked my Dopod 595 TWICE doing this- both times having the board replaced (under warranty luckily!). Up to you to attempt if you like- however I just don't see that it's really worth it until there is a dedicated and foolproof process.
Remember that these rom upgrades don't include the radio upgrade- so if you are upgrading your firmware for the first time, best to flash the most recent HTC WM5 upgrade first (incl. radio 1.38.x). Or an extracted Hermes radio rom. Just ensure it includes HSPDA.
If it's your first upgrade, and you don't like the idea of upgrading many times, I'd perhaps wait until a more final WM6.1 for Mteor is released (perhaps A3 or a RC).
I'm far from an expert, but have played with these, and my Hermes a lot. If I can perhaps answer anything else, please let me know...

you sound pretty much like a guru here.. it will be very helpful if you can provide the links to the documentation of the CID, SSPL, ROM, or anything relevant here. i know i can do a search, but my 595 is out of warranty and it wouldnt want to risk killing the phone with the wrong process or procedure.. unlike the startrek thread, the superCID and unlocking process are well pointed(links) and explained in the ROM update packages. i find that Breeze's threads are a bit fragmented here..
so if it's not too much of trouble, maybe you can start a new thread explaining the unlocking, CID, SSPL, and Radio upgrades in detail. im sure the admin will make this useful thread sticky for nobs (like me). cheers.
have you looked into wiki?! there are many infos...
CID Unlocking isnt researched sofar that you can use it without starting the sspl from a running device... so that means theres no HARD SSPL yet...
and i think there would never be..
i have tested to flash devs sspl but it didn't worked...
i'm also on the side that the mteor is a smartphone thats not really widly in use... so theres no big community behind they develope!
DEv has done so much with his sspl...
and with wm6 and wm6.1 yet i think thats much more i have ever imaginaryed!

100% Choose Swiftblades V6.0 Rom`
Hi there
I have the TMobile MDA Compact IV and realised the OEM Rom was very very laggy. I didnt like the pink and white so decided to install a cooked rom.
I have tried them all on this site and without the shadow of a doubt,
"SWIFTBLADE" V6.0 rom is 'THE BEST'
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408109
(thats the link to the ROM - I recommend the FULL version.
Its lightening fast and so so stable. I havent had to soft reset my device since getting rid of the stock TMobile Rom and I heavily abuse it every day!!!!
Its so close to the HTC 1.93 stock rom but has the best performance tweaks installed. What I liked the best about Swift's rom is that the things he took out of the 1.93 rom, you can install as provided cabs, so he has left the rom pretty much to the individual taste of the end user.
Dont waste your time with the rest, Install Swift's Rom and know you have the BEST of the BEST!!
Good Luck.
Geoff (UK)
I also have Panosha's ROM (my first) and i can say it is undoubtly fast, but i am definately going to try more ROMs to see if there are are 'better' ones!

In my book it has to be between Shine on (panosha) and Belite (bepe). to me these two cheifs are the heavy weights on xda...!
I got my MDA IV the day they were released and flashed it straight away. I've tried nearly all ROMS available via this forum and have settled on Dutty's. Currently at version 1.8 and can highly recommend it.
I prefer it over others down to some neat little touches, one being the icon spacing. He has them 3 to a row vice 4 on most (including stock) meaning that when on the move you hit the one you want first time.
I suppose it comes down to what you feel good with and whether or not a certain cook removes or keeps in what you feel you want on your phone.

You can do this either by using the common tweak tools or directly in the registry...
I also tried several ROMS but finally got stucked to panoshas ROM. It is fast and slim. It also contains the latest OS and apps.

Hi Guys
Ive done a search but cant find anything specific so im starting a a new thread.
I have a Touch HD which I got through Orange UK.
Rom version sis: 1.19.61.1 WWE
At the moment im told that I cant receive any updates directly from the HTC site and orange dont really seem to care about offering a good after service.
So my option is to flash my phone with a new ROM, however which version to go for is my biggest question and I really dont have any idea. I understand the flash proceure. WIll any ROM allow updates from HTC site?
Thanks
Craig
hi
i also have a uk branded orange touch hd
i flashed it with the latest official rom from htc (the one that needs a serial number to download and the orange serials dont work)
just use a serial provided in the offical rom upgrade thread to download the rom from htc and use uspl 2.5 to flash it
i used uspl 2.5 to upgrade the rom
all info can be found using the search fuction on this forum
i also made a dump of the phone before i flashed it, just need someone to rebuild the .raw files to a flashable rom
hope this helps
math
Nice one Math, that helps a lot! Will give this a go over the weekend.

Ok, where do we start? Which ROM you choose is really a bit like asking what car should I choose to buy. The choice is entirely yours based on what you want and what you like.
I think the first question to ask yourself is what do you want? What Windows Mobile OS do you want? WM6.1, WM 6.1 with Touch flow, WM 6.1 with the latest version of Touch flow or WM 6.5 Beta. I'm sure there are more but lets keep it simple.
WM 6.1 or 6.5? HTC Touch Flow or not? What is your native language as you have nothing set in your profile etc?
May I suggest you have a look through the first few posts of each of the ROM threads for this month and see what takes your fancy. If you ask ten people you will get ten possibly different answers.
Look at peoples signatures and see what most people use as most display what current ROM they are using. Maybe try a few, but I suggest use the safest route and follow the instructions to the letter.
Its always a matter of personal opinion but I like Duttys current WM6.1 with TF3D XT3. It's the latest and well tested with fewer bugs than the stock ROM from HTC (IMHO) and is based on the latest technology from the next gen HTC phones.
Do your research and enjoy!

Thanks
Craig

Yes, the choose is your, but as an Orange user myself. I was bored with the official HTC Orange Rom and decided to flash my rom. Did manage to keep the back up on original rom in cause of warranty reason. I have try quite a lot of cook rom the only problem I had was mainly with battery life wasn’t good and will not last for a day or so. Since with this rom, HD|ROM||WWE|| ** EnergyROM HD Series 21042 - Final Topaz Manila ** || Build 40909 || man!! The software and battery life is incredible. Yes I would recommend to you

where did u get this rom from? link?
couple of newbie questions. I also have orange phone ...
If I upgrade to the latest HTC rom will I loose all my programs installed in the phones memory?
Will I loose my programs/they stop working (e.g. Tomtom) that have been reigstered with the phone (in add/remove programs) on my memory card?
Can I restore everything from a backup (sprite) ?
Is there any way of goign back to the older ROM if I need to send my phone back for warranty reasons?
Thanks
James

Thanks for info. Just to clarify a couple of things..
Will my sprite backup restore all programs and settings to the new rom version?
How can I backup my existing ROM? I'm guessing the official ROM is a HSPL?
Thanks

USPL and HSPL these are different method of putting new ROM to your phone.
you will find more information in here:

with this method you can get a backup of your current ROM

Thanks again. I never thought it would be so complicated. I thougth someone would have created a GUI for this stuff, its amazing what they have GUI's for these days and this is still command line.
Still unsure as to wether I can restore my sprite back up after going to 1.56 rom though. With the amount I have installed its probably not worth the effort for now.
