Newbie - Looking For A Good ROM - Compact IV (UK) - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I have a T-Mobile Compact IV and the original ROM is 1.37.110.3 WWE. Can anyone point put any cooked ROM's that will write over my original ROM.
I have already flashed to SPL-1.40.Olinex and changed radio to 1.00.25.05 (Don't see much difference). My Protocol Version is 52.29.25.12U
Any advice is greatly appreciated as I cannot find any ROM's for my original configuration.
Cheers.

i'm pretty pleased with panosha's efforts.

yes flashed the new one today...it's VERY good

They are all good. - Perhaps a little different!
Check them all out for the one that suits you (sir)

Cheers Lads, thaks for the help.
I only asked the question as I thought only certain cooked ROM's worked with certain original ROM's. I had seen mention of other ROM's but never seen my 1.37.110.3 WWE.
Thanks again.

100% Choose Swiftblades V6.0 Rom`
Hi there
I have the TMobile MDA Compact IV and realised the OEM Rom was very very laggy. I didnt like the pink and white so decided to install a cooked rom.
I have tried them all on this site and without the shadow of a doubt,
"SWIFTBLADE" V6.0 rom is 'THE BEST'
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408109
(thats the link to the ROM - I recommend the FULL version.
Its lightening fast and so so stable. I havent had to soft reset my device since getting rid of the stock TMobile Rom and I heavily abuse it every day!!!!
Its so close to the HTC 1.93 stock rom but has the best performance tweaks installed. What I liked the best about Swift's rom is that the things he took out of the 1.93 rom, you can install as provided cabs, so he has left the rom pretty much to the individual taste of the end user.
Dont waste your time with the rest, Install Swift's Rom and know you have the BEST of the BEST!!
Good Luck.
Geoff (UK)

I also have Panosha's ROM (my first) and i can say it is undoubtly fast, but i am definately going to try more ROMs to see if there are are 'better' ones!

In my book it has to be between Shine on (panosha) and Belite (bepe). to me these two cheifs are the heavy weights on xda...!

I got my MDA IV the day they were released and flashed it straight away. I've tried nearly all ROMS available via this forum and have settled on Dutty's. Currently at version 1.8 and can highly recommend it.
I prefer it over others down to some neat little touches, one being the icon spacing. He has them 3 to a row vice 4 on most (including stock) meaning that when on the move you hit the one you want first time.
I suppose it comes down to what you feel good with and whether or not a certain cook removes or keeps in what you feel you want on your phone.

You can do this either by using the common tweak tools or directly in the registry...
I also tried several ROMS but finally got stucked to panoshas ROM. It is fast and slim. It also contains the latest OS and apps.
I am waiting for Bepes 1.0 Final...
Gonna give it a try because it will be in my language

Going back to an older ROM

Okay I am a newbie and I installed the Mr Clean rom which is fine but how would I install the previous rom I had witch was the one from the HTC website? Basically all I am tring to do is change my splash screen and I have no idea how but I want the old rom but it doesn't seem to want to let me roll it back.
OK newbie, try searching the forum for your solutions first - you will be surprised what you might find. This took me less than a minute to locate.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=52768
Basicly Faria has put together a bunch of different splash screens which will install in exactly the same fashion as a new ROM would. As it only loads a new slpash screen you will not lose any data. You will also be able to keep the Mr. Clean ROM but have a different splash screen. There are at least 2 HTC splashes listed and the one that I had a quick look at has a preview so you can see which one you prefare before you do the install.
Enjoy...
But is it possible to go back to an older/different rom once you install Mr Clean rom? I currently have a K-jam running the lattest rom, and was thinking about trying Mr Clean rom just to see how it behaves. The only think stopping me is what if I don't like it! Would it be possible to revert back to my current rom?
Can't see any reason why it shouldn't work. As far as I know none of the home cooked ROMs available on the forum have a function that does a compare between the existing and intended ROM versions and prevents any downgrading.
As to whether you will like the newer version, it is hard to see why you wouldn't. Mr Clean's version is spot on if you want the latest OS, the best Radio ROM and a very light extended ROM and with you changing your splash screen to one you like you should be sorted. All you need is to install whatever cab files you need for performance tweaks or network settings.

Well it doesn't! :S Once you use Mr Clean rom you can not go back to the official Kjam rom! My only problem with the Mr Clean rom is that there is somewhat increased consumption compared to the rom I had before! Oh well! I guess I'll just have to get used to it!

Why can't you go back? I've run every ROM sumitter has released. Over the weekend I installed the Mr. Clean ROM . Put on the PDA Mobiz version yesterday. I just went back to the original Cingular 1.08 successfully this morning to double-check this response. IPL, SPL, GSM and OS reflecting changes each time. Now I'm going "back" to sumitter's test2. If you unlocked you SID/sim initially you shouldn't have any problems regarding this. faria documented the procedure back in April.
(yes I love flashing my phone)
I can't believe that the Kjam is that different.....

Well I must have done something wrong then as my SPL is stack at 2.24! I can use the downgrade rom but then can not upgrage to anything but mr clean!

First you need to download and install Button's 1.05 at ftp://xda:[email protected]__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE.exe . Make sure to allow the extended ROM's to execute. All problems solved as Pinhead said.

Check the release info:

List's everything that's in it...
What do different ROM's do?
Tom
Different ROM's can do a million different things.
It all depends on what the creator put in them. Dutty's ROM is probably the most popular at the minute, because it contains all the software people are after.
Remember, a ROM is basically the OS with a collection of Software in it. In Dutty's case, it's also got a number of registry tweaks which improve performance.

There's now "best" ROM to install. Each ROM has their advantages based on what the person making it wants. Dutty's ROMs are pretty good - he has lite ROMs and full blown ROMs and ROMs with the touchflo/cube. There are other ROMs : Alex's, Quentin, CUSTEL, etc.
Read about each ROM to see if they include what you want and try it out. You will have to make the decision on which ROM is best for you. If you want to make your own try using Alex's ROM Kitchen (link in my sig).
Good luck.

Vodafone's version of TF3D

I've just received my (UK) Vodafone branded Touch Diamond. Disappointed that they have removed the cool black TouchFlo Today screen and replaced it with their own spindly looking red on white version. Can anyone point me to a copy of the standard HTC black TF3D today screen that I can install?
Just go an flash a new ROM onto it.
The Diamond Project Team V2 ROM is great!
Thanks, but I've only just got the phone and I rely on it for business use, so I really don't want to do something that drastic. I have flashed ROMs before but I'd prefer a simpler solution.
Sorry mate, there are no simpler solutions yet, but i'm sure a .cab file is in the pipeline somewhere from someone
Just out of interest, what version ROM comes with the VF branded device?
cheers
Paul
Hi,
ROM version is 1.37.161.2
ROM date is 06/26/08
Radio Version is 1.00.25.03
Protocol Version is 52.26a.25.09U
there is a cab available for tf3d but I am not sure if it will work 4 you. U can download it from TLR2's page.
You would definately benefit from flashing this rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=408281
It's a stock rom, so it's not modified in any way. It fixes the memory leak that you will notice over the next few days on your rom, and it gives a massive speed increase. Oh, and it will give you the black TF3d!
Cheers
Paul
Thanks, maybe I'll try it in a few days. I haven't done a ROM for a year or so (flashed my old Tornado when I got a Vox), I presume there's a way of backing up the Vodafone ROM just in case?
Install this cab and enjoy black manila !!!
Thanks! I installed it, and it was just what I wanted, but it seemed slower and less responsive than the Vodafone version, maybe because it's a skin and not built into the ROM. I've gone back to the Vodafone one for now, maybe I'll flash the ROM as vlad69uk suggested, but I've only had the phone for a few hours so maybe I should wait a while!
Are you quite sure that this firmware has addressed unfamous memory leakage?

Fairly sure. I've been using this firmware for about 30 hours now, with exchange activesync, photo contacts, web browsing, all the usual stuff this phone should be able to do, and free program memory hovers around 35-45 meg (55-65%). so for me, it appears to have helped a great deal
As hankhill mentioned before, Vodafone uses its own modified ROM. Is there a way of backing up the current ROM before flashing a new one? (so I can restore/flash the Vodafone ROM for warranty puposes if needs be).

For the benefits of all, which ROM are you using ?

Have used TLR 2 and 3, both very good ROMS but am currently using SwiftBL WWE Diamond ROM V4.0, the ROM is very quick, up to date and give you plenty of free storage and memory left after installation which is what persuaded me to change to it.
All the ROMS here are very good, some more customized than others so you either look through the different threads and compare the differences or try every ROM and see which one suits you
Stock 1.93
Mainly to destroy the ugly t-mobile pink theme. And oh yeah, touchlflo3d works significantly faster than 1.37.
Desperately needed help. Am thinking to change to Omnia, can't bear to part Dia.
Hi Bro Radeon, (had PM'ed you too)
Sorry to ask for help like this, as I had tried reading through, but I really got more and more confused.
I got only next 2 days to give my diamond a last try.
Till now I still can't truely understand what is Hard SPL, I tot all Diamond should have.
I look at your selection, it is very much what I hope to have, but can I know exactly how you get there.
SPL - OliNex 1.40 Developer Edition
ROM - SwiftBL WWE Diamond ROM v4.0 (1.93.405.1)
Radio - 1.00.25.05
After flashing, if things goes through, how I revert back to original factory default, so that warranty and resale is not a problem.
Infor about my device is as follows,
Red Screen:
DIAM100 64M
SPL-1.35.0000
MicroP-Diam (LED) v11
Green Screen:
PSOC-Diam STAGE_PVT v0.x30
Blue Screen:
White Screen:
Serial
Device Information
ROM version: 1.35.871.5 WWE
ROM date: 06/06/08
Radio Version: 0.93.25.NS26
Protocol version: 52.26.25.09W
Desperately looking for help, sorry for being so novice about flashing, kindly of phobia, perhaps is generation gap I supposed.
Ke Pin.
Take a screwdriver and dismount the screen, the Rom version is placed behind.
If you can't find it here, go to "Parameters/system/Device info" and you'll find it, it should be a better and safer way...

Yeah using the UK updated rom version 1.93.405.1 (RUU_Diamond_HTC_WWE_1.93.405.1_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.29.25.12_1.00.25.05_Ship.exe) from HTC with updated Radio (.5) which is supposed to give better coverage and battery. Coverage went up by about one bar for me to total of 2 on 3G..
Phone is MUCH better with this ROM than the Orange one. Touchflo much snappier, phone faster. I did do the tweaks from Schaps advanced configuration tool and the TouchFlo3D config Tool.
Dont seem to have any memory leaks like others have reported even when using Opera.
Rom is on Duttys site http://duttythroy.net/
The Orange voicemail indicator works 100% with this ROM too and TomTom 7 works with around 7 satellites I got (TT7 NOT in ROM) !
Hasnt locked up once since flashing unlike Orange one. Im sure it will but been better than before so far
At the risk of sound like a super-noob, if you flash over the UK orange ROM with another one do you then loose things like the data-settings and other phone-settings you have to then re-input?

A new rom will detect your network and re-set all data settings.
K
from the polls most ppl are still using the stock 1.37 eh...
i heard the cooked roms are great.. and i do love the aestheticity of minimalism that most cooked roms offer.. great job
but i guess after tinkering so long with 1.37.. kinda tedious (and also lazy) to reflash the rom and do up everything again... i dun suppose we can port over everything after i reflash by using porgrams like Sprite backup since we are on a different rom..
My signature tells enough, though I am surprised to see so many 1.37 Stock rom's.
Probably the same people who mention about hot batteries , what hard SPL to use etc .
Honestly, each 1.93. 831 build is OK and better than the 1.37 , and some have more or less bugs & tweaks inside.
I currently use Dutty 1.1lite as it has the latest builds onboard and plenty of space.

Diamond newbie

Hi there one thing I want to say is thanks to all you guys for this forum its been great reading.
I wanted to confirm that I have a Diamond through T-mobile, UK, and currently running
ROM: 1.37.110.3 WWE
ROM DATE: 6/20/08
RADIO: 1.00.25.03
PROTOCOL: 52.26a.25.09U
Looking through the forum there are plenty of ROM versions there. The HTC website won't support the DL of 31-7-08 ROM with the serial I have, which I think is down to T-mobile.
Can you guys point me in the direction of the best radio and ROM for my version of the Diamond.
Sorry to be a pain but I'm confused at all the version at present
Many thanks
Best Radio would be 1.00.25.05 0r 06 to some.
Best ROM depends upon the user. I prefer lite ROMs always as I like to customize the rest my own way. So far, Im stuck to Bepe' eLite 0.97 version! Most stable yet I believe..
Regards,
Carty..
So it seems to get one that best suits your individual needs.
Many thanks
I got my diamond through t-mobile and the best thing ive ever done with the device is getting rid of the t-mobile software that slows the handset to a stop.
Im currently using radio version .07
and have tried both swiftbl 5.0 and duttys 1.6 roms
vast vast improvement on either rom compared to t-mobiles stock rom

I have read that it can be dumped from a reading of the phone but apprently it needs to be reconstructed!!!!

The stock t-mob ROM is floating about on the diamond forums somewhere if you ever need it. Just make sure you flash Hardspl and you'll be fine.
I have got the Hard-SPL-Diamond-OliNex but cant tell you a version number as it does not seem to be on there.
Basically with the HardSPL flashed the Diamond will reset and carry on with the ROM it has until you flash a different one, and the same for the radio?
Thanks for your help
pretty much yeah
check out http://modmydiamond.info
for me bepe Rom it's very good.
about radio for me 1.00.25.07 it's better than 1.00.25.05
