How dump ROM on SD Card (9090) - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

Hallo,
I want to upgrade my 9090 from WM2003SE to WM5 but before to upgrade I want to do a dump of my ROM.
My device, XDA IIs, is brand Starmap Mobile Alliance
Rom: 1.40.04 ITA
Data ROM: 03/10/05
Radio: 1.13.00
Protocol: 1337.42
ExtRom: 1.40.199 ITA
How to backup my rom before to upgrade to WM5?

There is nothing special or unique about the ROM on your phone; if you can get a hold of the official ROM update then it will be the same.

I believe the wiki has info on this, unfortunately I don't have the precise link with me, but you can do a little bit of research there and find it. The procedure makes your SD card unusable as a normal card though. It can still be used to re-flash the ROM back to your machine, and it can be re-formatted to make use of it as a plain SD card again afterwards. you need at least a 64MB card to do it, 64-128MB should be enough. no point using a bigger card, since it will have no use except to hold your precious ROM backup.

Latest Asia xdaIIs 1.31 ROM required

Hi all,
I will be on business trip very soon and just bought a second hand xdaIIs a few days ago. However, the phone seems very unstable with the bluetooth and wifi connection sometimes. It just hanged but a softreset can help.
I heard that the new Asia ROM 1.31 appeared in Singapore and many users found it happy. Is it possible that someone can send me the new rom using the SD backup method?
Thanks very much in advance.
Cheers,
I am uploading the original O2 xdaIIs Asia ROM version 1.12.62 and the Radio 1.02.00 by using the SD card method.
The files seemed very large cause I used a 512M SD card (only available in hand at that time), so I have to change other card (128M).
Anyway, I tried the files and it worked so I posted it here hopefully if someone want to downgrade to get its warranty will find these files useful.
However, again, downgrade at your own risk.
At the end I still want to the most latest ROM in asia so hopefully if someone is doing a hardreset for something will spare sometimes on loading the latest ROM to the ftp. Cheers,
hi chris,
i unable to get to your ftp link. i am on the same/similar asian rom as u :

ROM date: 10/04/04
Radio Version: 1.02.00
Protocol version: 1337.32
ExtROM Version: 1.12.925 WWE
problem is, i did not backup the rom to my sd card before proceeding to the radio 1.08 upgrade....... now i am start at the bootloader screen, unable to turn back.
ur help will be veri much appreciated.

The files stored in CE Rom directory.
The ftp is ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/BlueAngel/
The user name and pw are the same: xda
Hope you can get your device back.
The size of the ROMs are both around 128M cause I used a 128M card and backup them separately.
Base on your case, I suspect 1.08 Radio is only work with 1.22 ROM or higher. 1.12 ROM is not suitable.
Cheers,
thanks chris for the quick response........
but i am unable to access the ftp ??
it shows "ftp folder error..... 530 permission denied"
is there anything i missed ??
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/CE_Roms/O2 Asia xdaiisradio10200.zip
ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/CE_Roms/O2 Asia xdaiiscerom11262.zip
Hope that works
and could you make the file smaller? cause i only got 128 SD card..thanks a mill!
thks MDAIIIUser
downloading now
fingers crossed .. hope i cud get my iis up and working.
The files are 128M cause that's the smallest SD card that I have.
Sorry....
Hope everything fine and I am still waiting for the Asia xdaIIs 1.31 Version.
Cheers,
sigh......... only managed to download 1 file, the ftp is down
chris_khho..have you tested this? cause i got me a 512 SD just so i can do this..it doesnt work. what i did was "ntrw write filename.nb1 I:" . am i doin something wrong or the file aint working? help dude..cause my IIs is always showing that flash manager error thing and the Storage folder[this is the diskonchip device ryt?] keeps disapearing after ive done my first soft restart, i was hoping this would fix this..HELP! damn this phone..
Sorry to here that.....
I really don't know why. I also got a Eng 1.31 HK Asia CE Rom but I cant get it install as well.
I will post it to the ftp so hopefully someone can make it possible.

Can I go back to WM2003?

I've got a Cingular SX66 that I upgraded to http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_5.1.1700_build_14343_Upgrade]WM 5 Build 14343 from the XDA Wiki.
Windows Mobile 5 has been running pretty crappy - not letting me answer calls, running slowly, it just isn't worth upgrading to (for me, anyway).
I really want to go back to WM2003, but I've read that the http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=91465#91465]ROM doesn't work - can anyone help me out?
Is there a way I can downgrade back to WM2003 and have everything working? If you know how to do this or (preferably) have done it yourself, I'd really appreciate at least somewhat detailed instructions. Thanks.
Excuse me but did you do ANY research at all on this before you upgraded? Every other post here states " READ THE WIKI".... A couple minutes worth of browsing the forums here and you would have had enough first hand user accounts of WM5 and then maybe you could have made an intellegent decision regarding possibly turning your device into a "brick" and positively voiding your warranty.
If you look around just a little more you'll find that the downgrade is very painless. Mamaich and others have painstakinly documented the complete downgrade procedure. It's on the same page that you dl'ed the upgrade from ... the quick link is http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Downgrade_WM5
Good luck!
SX66 (PH20B1) [Cingular]
ROM: 5.03.02 WWE
ROM date: 03/02/05
Ext ROM: 1.1.9.106
Radio: 1.15.00
Wow. Did I do any research? Yes, I linked to a page with a discussion about people doing the downgrade and having their Radio completely not work.
I guess you made the exact same totally intelligent decision as I did when you yourself upgraded the exact same device to WM5?
If *you* take 10 seconds to check the link that you posted, you'll see that in step #2, the only ROM available for the SX66 did not pass their tests and that, oh, what's this? The Radio doesn't work, just like the discussion I linked to.
Please don't assume I'm an idiot. Hacking handheld ROMs is not something you should get all offensive and riled up about.
Thanks for nothing. Does anyone have any other info?
hmmm... I have pda2k and I upgrade and downgrade all teh time... is the problem you are talking about specific to sx66?
FedoraPunk I never meant to call you an idiot, just curious on why you did an upgrade after discovering that many people had problems going back? Yes I have the same device. And the first time I did the downgrade, back in July, there wasn't a step 2 ... I took a big chance when Buzz, Mamaich and company started this particular forum knowing that I could very well blow up my device. I'm not riled and I apoligize if I'm offensive to you, I just didn't understand your decision to upgrade after learning the facts.
I personally have upgraded and downgraded my device at least 15 times since then, with no problems going back to WM 2003 excepting an ocassional ActiveSync issue downgrading to 3.8
What I suggest is to use Chris' SX66 (Blue Angel) Standardization Project at http://sx66-blueangel.home.comcast.net/
Replace the Standard and Extended Roms with his cooked ROM's. Any problems just ask and I'll be happy to help.

ROM: 5.03.02 WWE
ROM date: 03/02/05
Ext ROM: 1.1.9.106
Radio: 1.15.00
I have (personally) upgrade & downgrade SX66 myself using the link provided above and did not run into any issues.
What exactly are not working after downgrading? Maybe I can check (if I decided to downgrade again)
Ok, I got the right ROM from Chris's site (I chose the 1.33.51 because it's 2003 with WMP10) but I don't know which Radio ROM to flash - can I use 1.15.00? Or is there one that 2003 likes?
I'm using 1.15 with no problems. I personally use the 1.40 but that's me.
Good luck.
Steven
btw, I just went back to WM 2003 less than an hour ago ......

ROM date: 03/102/05
Ext ROM: 1.40.125 WME

Aright, I got 2003 back on there no sweat.
I wanna put radio 1.15, but the directions I'm getting are confusing me. I've got an SX66, unlocked. Could someone send me the deviceinfo or whatever it is? I've got the ROM and the Update app, I'm just fuzzy on what else to do.
Simply replace the radio rom file (radio.nbf) with the new radio rom and run MaUpgradeUt_noID. Being that you've already installed the Rom of choice simply rename / move that file from the install directory on your PC. I personally have never lsot any data or configuration settings by upgrading the radio this way.

I tried that, and got the device ID error. I need some file to tell the updater what device or something?
I have the same problem with that. I used to uninstall AS 4.1 and put 3.8 back on. However now I've gone back and forth so many times with AS that 4.1 won't entirely uninstall. I have to run AS 4.1 now. I use 2nd computer, install AS 3.8, do not configure sync. Place device in bootloader mode and the run the MaUpgradeUt_noID.

Hell yeah - I had to figure out which radio 1.15 file to use, but I got this thing working and signal strength does seem better.

Qtek 2020i italian great Problem

Hi to all! Excuse me for my poor English!!
I have a great problem on mine qtek 2020i ITA.
I have a vodafone sim Italy 128k and a SD 1 GB 45X Transcend and when i use tomtom 5,10 or 5,21 with BT GPS and arrives a telephone call many times mine qtek freeze. I must done a soft reset and my 2020i leaves again.
I have thought that it is mainly a radio problem rom. I can replace it with an other rom es. Alpine English?
My rom is:
Rom Version: 1.11.04 ITA
Rom Date: 31/01/05
Radio Version: 1.02.00
Protocoll Version: 1337.41
Extend Rom Version: 1.11.114 ITA
there is some friend who can help me?
Thank to all...
1. Try to update to the newest TomTom 5.21.
http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?Language=1&FID=3361
2. You can upgrade to the special pug rom with radio 1.4 - it works for me.
ftp://xda:[email protected] XDA_IIi_Upgrade_v1.11.162_Radio_1.04.rar
1: Backup your contacts/device to Storage, Storage Card or PC. If you are using Ext Rom 1.11.162 now you can use full device backup to restore at the end to save you re-installing all your programs later.
2: Extract the ROM using Winrar to a folder of your choice.
3: Run MaUpgradeUT_Noid.exe. The install will fail, don't worry, just run it again without touching the phone.
4: When the upgrade has finished, do a hard reset by pressing the power button and reset button at the same time.
5: Install any programs and any data you backed up during step 1.
Hope it works for you! Love your nice country in the summer!
Rom ?!?!?

Hi! Can you post your rom in the ftp site? thank's a lot

What first: update ROM or unlock SIM card? Cannot sync...

I can no longer sync so I need help with the following question - what should I do and in what order after a hard reset?
I have tried just about everything to get my 8125 to sycn. It synced the first time. I installed some programs. Then it quit during an install. I can no longer sync but the device is 'connected'. I have tried everything from upgrading to Activesync 4.2beta, soft resetting, checking USB, Firewall and network connectors, ports and so on. I have wiped every scintila of Activesync from my system and garbage can. I think a hard reset is a must.
After copying some files to my PC (i.e. photos that I took) I will do a hard reset.
Once that is one, what should I do next?
1. upgrade the ROM?
2. unlock the SIM card (I live in Canada and use Rogers so my phone must be unlocked to work; I assume hard resets relock the phone)?
3. format my 2 GB mini San Disk SD card?
on the SD card, I do not know if I need to do anything. I cannot seem to delete picture files using the tap and hold or file explorer functions. I make sure that the pictures and videos program is closed but it will not let me delete them. Is there something wrong with my card?
on the SIM card, am I correct that a hard reset will relock my phone?
My current settings are (when I soft reset):
IPL 1.08
SPL 1.08
GSM 01.09.11
OS 1.8.11.1
I am not sure what all that means
My "Device Information" says:
ROM version: 1.8.11.1 WWE
Rom date: 11/24/05
Radio Version: 01.09.11
Protocol Version: 4.0.13.20
ExtROM version: 1.8.11.103
This is, of course, the Cingular 8125 or WIZA100
Please help!
In my settings "About" the device says
OS 5.1.70 (Build 14410.1.1.3)
a hard reset will not relock the sim card, search for lokiwiz and run it to ensure wizard is unlocked before you upgrade so you dont crash it.
good luck
R
Thanks.
The phone was purchased unlocked. As I am having difficulties syncing and installing programs, I have to hard reset. But I will upgrade my ROM first. Do I still need to use lockwiz if it is unlocked?
Thanks.
if you run the newest version of Lokwiz (the 3.x version). It will give you the actual unlock code to put into your phone. Write it down. That way, if your 8125 ever gets re-SIMlocked somehow then you can re-unlock it.
To re-format the miniSD card, use a program called Storage Tools to re-format in your 8125. Use FAT16, no FAT backup to re-format.

Need help upgrading ROM

I have tried upgrading 5-8 times with different upgrades. I am running :
ROM version 2.17.7.2 WWE
ROM date: 2/10/06
Radio: 02.07.10
Ext Rom: 2.17.7.102
I have an unlocked Qtek 9100. I continue to get the error message :260, (according to the recovery process means port open.)
No matter what I have tried nothing seems to work. I have disableld McAfee(my anti-virus) I have tried re-starting both machines. I don't know what else to do.
Did you figure this out yet? I'm in the same boat.
TMO MDA, with stock 1.2 ROM. Can't read a 2GB miniSD card that I can read in a PC. TMO tells me the ROM won't support over 512MB, so i am trying to upgrade. Every thing I try ends in a 260 error.
Yikes!
