I am having a couple of problems, and I wanted to see if anyone can help me out.
First; I have a WRT54G Linksys router, and the only way to connect my MDA to it is by assigning it an IP addy, otherwise if I just try WPA it will say it's connecting but never really do it. The problem with it is that it moves very slow with the assigned IP addy. If I go to a hot spot at starbucks, or my friends wireless network, it works lighting fast and it connects without an issue. Any info?
The other question I have is that my NBF file is not working for this device to flash it to the new Cingular ROM. I currently runt he Mr. Clean ROM, but the signal strength was better with Cingular. I can load the old ROM from Cingular, but when I try to upgrade it says that I cannot use this NBF file with this device. Any info?
First, quick suggestions: Change the topic title to something more descriptive, you'll get more responses. It would also be a good idea to list each issue in a seperate topic.
For the Cingular Rom, what error are your getting? Mr Clean is based on the 2.24 T-Mo so Cingular's 2.25 should think it is newer..
results through learning...and listening...
I have finally fine tuned my device and it's doing all it's supposed to do!!!
Thanks to all the fellow techies in this forum. I could not have done it without help.
My problems were basically the ROM, and then trying different ones to see which one I liked. I learned through help how to change my splash screen, my radio, everything!! Thanks so much.
The other problem I was having was WiFi connectivity, which after reading lots of messages and postings, I got to work perfectly.
I can now connect at home, coffee shops, any network any time!!!
Thanks alot...W.
I tried posting this in the WM6 forum last week but didn't get any replies... so, sorry for the cross-post.
I'm having a problem with several applications, and I'm not sure if its problem with how they were written, or if the problem is in my WM6.
I leave my phone connected to my computer all day long. When I first started doing this, I quickly realized that it was using my computer's internet connection via ActiveSync instead of my phone's data connection. I didn't want this, and I found the option to tell ActiveSync "This computer is connected to my Work Network". After that, Pocket IE and IM+ (the two apps I use the most) started using my data connection and everything was good.
Then I started getting more apps, for example, TCPMP and Palringo. When I am connected to my computer via ActiveSync, these apps still try to use that connection instead of my data plan. The big problem here is that my work's firewall blocks things like IM and streaming media, so these apps don't work at all.
If I disconnect from ActiveSync and start up TCPMP and Palringo first, then they work just fine. It seems to stick with the phone's data connection once its established.
So, is this a problem where those programs are picking the wrong network adapter? Or is this some issue from running WM6 on my MDA? Maybe even something that's been fixed in a more recent WM6 rom?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have:

Good Evening All
I have been moving form a Tytn to a Tilt.
I am waiting for my unlock code and it will become a Rogers phone.
In the meantime, I have some question.
I am using Dutty's rom. So far it seems nice and smooth. Connection wizard picked up AT&T and its settings with no effort.
I have Exchange push, it does sync up, but does not always stay synced. Also, if I try and use Skype or Slingbox, I get an error that it cannot connect (Cannot connect for an unknown reason...)
Any thoughts?
Thank you!
I changed my settings to wap.cingular rather than ISP.
That seems to do it, although what is odd is that when activesync connects, it works fine, I connect my slingbox, activesync ends, slingbox is still running, I re-run activesync and it stays
Any thoughts?
Thank you!
I'm having some problems with my phone recieving picture messages as of late. I upgraded to Dutty's WM6.1 ROM a few weeks ago and I don't think I had the problems prior to that.
Pretty much when its trying to connect to MEdia Net (I have ATT) to get the picture message or even for the Weather Update application included in the Dutty ROM, it says that it cannot connect and the answering modem has been disconnected and to check the settings.
Then another warning pops up saying "There is a problem connecting to the GPRS service in your registered home network."
Is this merely a settings error that can be easily fixed, and if so, how? Or is it a problem with the ROM? Or is it a problem that I have to take up with ATT?
I did recently change my media package and I don't remember if it included MMS or not. Even if it doesn't I still should get the picture messages and just be charged for them, right?
Nobody else with this problem or have a solution?
I've tried going to the ATT website and redoing all my settings but it still doesnt work.
I eventually got those picture messages once I plugged up to my PC. I'm guessing the internet connection retrieved them. They are in my inbox but they don't fully load. I have the picture icon and when I click to download it, it gives me the same error as before.
Hi,
Before anyone shouts, I have searched the forums and read hundreds of posts but haven't found the answer! I have a stock TMUK MDA Compact IV which is, to say the least, slow and unstable. It's totally stock at the moment and I want to flash it to the latest official HTC Diamond 2.03 ROM as there are plenty of reports of speed and stability improvements.
Question - will the GPRS/3G connection settings (and any other network-specific setup I need) automatically detect or will I have to manually configure them after flashing? The TMUK stock ROM hides the connection details so I can't make a note of them - I therefore want to be sure I have all the details I need before I blow the old ROM away!!
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Cheers,
Tim
I didn't use the latest official ROM, but the previous one automatically detected the network setting after 1 or 2 minutes of being "on air". You get a notification that network settings have been found, and it will ask if you want to install them.
So i assume the new ROM does exactly the same
Hi,
Do a search on Modaco, they have a cab that gives you the T-Mobile settings.
Regards
the rom will automatically pic up that its needs settings so you select the correct option then you accept the settings and all will be fine.im on TMUK with a Diamond and everything is sweet.
Upgraded fine - a few more questions!
Upgraded fine thanks everyone. I had to select my network and it automatically set up the connections. One strange thing is that if I selected "T-Mobile" the next screen of the wizard had a different network name listed! Seems that the names and connection details are mixed up, I had to go through each network and find the one with T-Mobile's settings behind it. Think it was "Fresh" in the end!
Anyway, a couple of strange things I've noticed and wondered if anyone could help. Apart from these, so far the ROM is a big improvment on the old one.
1 - My GMail account will only download over the air if I set the account to connect using my GPRS connection - if I leave it on "The Internet" it fails to connect even though the connections are configured so that "The Internet" links to my GPRS connection! Opera works fine, so it's a messaging issue.
2 - The main problem - I can't get WMWiFiRouter to install! I had it working fine on my old ROM, but when I run the cab to install now it just sits with the progress bar on zero with the rotating "busy" symbol forever. Other cabs install fine! Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tim
Never mind!
Never mind, looks like the cab file was corrupted somehow. Copied back from my PC and it installed fine!
Thanks,
Tim
