I would like a piece of software that will download whatever Podcasts i want (either on my PC or PPC) and then ensure that they're on my device for when i'm travelling. It should save them to SD too...
Does anyone have any good recommendations?
I'd like to set up a sync with some of the BBC podcasts for example...
I use Doppler to pull down my podcasts from the web and Windows media player 11 to sync (using a playlist) to my phone.
The only thing I can't get to sync is video podcast's.

I was wondering if anyone has any cool solution for this problem: I use winamp with Media Library plugin. I build my playlist with Media Library. I want to be able to plug in my Tilt, and have it automatically sync all my playlists without any other user intervention. Kinda like an iPod with iTunes.
I don't like iTunes, I could use another mp3 program other than winamp as long as it has instant search and drag-and-drop to playlist. My Tilt runs Conduit Pocket Music.
My current solution involves using "Playlist Sync" (google it). It doesn't work seamlessly because it doesn't like the .m3u8 playlist format. I have to convert .m3u8 to .m3u to make it work, only 2 clicks, but I want it to be seamlessly.
And as a general question for all you music lovers with Tilts: you have a 4GB MicroSD card on your tilt, how do you manage your mp3s?
The latest winamp comes with the activesync plugin. I don't know where it puts the playlists since they don't show up when I sync them. You can use WM5torage to mount the card and use the pmp_usb plugin which is more configurable or remove the card and put it in a reader for faster transfer.
tried that

Click to collapse
the winamp activesync plugin still requires me to drag and drop the playlist that i want, then it takes a while to transfer all the songs, even the ones that it supposedly already synced .... ???
Look on the preferences. It has the option to choose which playlists to sync. You must set them when it is connected. It is slow because it's not high speed USB. Use a card reader for faster transfer. Note that you'll need an SDHC compatible one.
So I use iTunes to download podcasts (both audio and video) constantly. Can't live without it even
I want to dump my iPhone and swap to my Fuze full-time, but one of the major issues I'm having is finding a Podcast replacement. iTunes does a nice job in updating, downloading, and managing (auto-deleting) old podcasts. I actually have ~8GB in podcasts on my iPhone right now. So Podcasting is big for me for entertainment and news
I've found numerous solutions for just about everything else, but no one seems to have an easy answer for podcasting --
The closest I can think is setting WM to sync my podcast iTunes folder to my WM micro SD card (if that link is even possible) and then using windows mobile's interface to try and play them.
Does anyone have a better solution? Paid or free, it doesn't matter. I'm all for paying a one-time fee to download a nice podcast manager
Most Podcasts have a matching RSS feed and most RSS readers support the audio files contained in the feed. I personally use NewsBreak by Illium Software. OEM version is RSS hub. Which is floating around XDA and is cooked into a lot of the roms. It allows you to decide how many you want to keep of each feed as well so you don't overload your storage card.
I'm using Beyond Pod. It's free and works good.
I agree with rangie, Beyond Pod does a great job.
You can sync nearly any storage device w/ iTunes...

I use BeyondPod to catch podcasts, and Kinoma FreePlay to listen, but it took a few tries to get the settings right:
In BeyondPod, I set it to automatically turn on wifi and download new podcasts in the middle of the night, then turn off wifi an hour later. I think I have it set to keep podcasts for 9 days -- haven't found an equivalent to iTunes' ability to delete from a playlist once it's been listened to, but this works well enough.
I have every feed save the podcasts to the same folder. In Kinoma FreePlay, I have that folder saved as a favorite. That way, I can listen to podcasts in the car and go from one to the next, even in different feeds, without touching the phone.
With iTunes and an iPod, I could do all this much easier with a smart playlist. No such luck on WM, at least not with freeware.
Ok, not sure if this is the right place for this since this is not really an android App, but I'm sure we're all going to enjoy it. If you're not familiar with DoubleTwist, it allows you to sync and mobile device with a PC or Mac, just like iTunes does with the iPod. Music, pictures, videos (you can drag and drop video files form you computer and it converts them for you).
Short review with more details: http://htcsource.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=615&Itemid=1
DoubleTwist Website: http://doubletwist.com
For DoubleTwist to work properly on Android phones ensure USB debugging is turned off under Apps/Development (you can turn it back on after using DoubleTwist)... if you don't do this it doesn't know its an Android phone and won't know what to transcode video content for.
My apologies if this has been covered before but i want to know how to get a podcast that is only avalable in itunes to my phone ??
do i have to download and drag across manually or is there another way of syncing, the podcast i want shows on none of the apps.
Any help would be great
cheers
Hello, as far as I know iTunes is only able to sync to iDevices. But you could set up WMP (or your preffered sync software) to use the location where iTunes saves the podcast and sync them from there.
My current phone's headphone jack is broken, because of that I want to use my friends htc one. I used to own myself, but sold it a long time ago.
Anyway, I don't want to save my music on my friends phone. What I want to do is to open a playlist on my computer with a player like vlc or winamp, and then have the music play on my phone with the ability to control the current playlist. Is there a way to do this?
