Hi all,
I'm in the state of buying a Dopod 838.
But before I do I need to know if it can be flashed with an English (WWE) rom!?
I'm not an asian and I dont know the Chines language at all.
But the device looks so much cooler
Can I buy it and work with it here in Holland with an English Rom without problems?

And besides (I think) it looks better what are the advantages or disadvantages of the dopod against the other models (vario, qtek 9100, k-jam)?
I heard the dopod is a wiza100 and the other models wiza200 .
Does that make any differences?

But isn't that a software related issue?
I think when you flash it with another rom you can get G and B...

Just use the wizard unlock tool to unlock the CID, then to go clubimate ftp site to download the latest ROM update program and run it. That's all. Of coz you can backup you rom using some tools.
I don't have a 802.11g router so i can't confirm about the b and g thing. But i believe on the hardware side 838 and k-jam are the same.

How do you know this, did Dopod announce it?
Is it possible to flahs a Qtek9100 to Dopod838? If yes, where can get the Dopod838 upgrade files? I can't find those on FTP.

I knew from SIS Thailand Dopod distirbutor and it was annouced in Thai PDA web site www.pdamobiz.com.
Now you can download wwe ROM from O2 here. www.my-xda.com/downloads/Xda_MiniS_LaunchROM_v154102.exe

The Qtek RUU (2.17) is what I use on my Cingular 8125 (same as Dopod 838) so I imagine you should be good to go.

Why change keyboard code? It's not for same keyboard layout support? Is KJam better support 838 than Qtek? thanks
I was in Shanghai last week and picked up a Qtek 9100 that had a CHS rom on it. I didn't need a CHS device anymore so I flashed the QTEK with the latest Wizard/Cingular WWE ROM and it works fine. You should be able to go to the ftp site and download the latest QTEK 9100 WWE ROM that is posted and you should be good to go.

And also is it safe to flash ot to a tmobile wing?

after that... upgrade with this and then if you want to change to english you can use Aserg method.

i have a tmobile wing, cid locked, so i could not flash an htc rom on to it.
I have purchased my HTC P3600 from London but there's no upgrade to WM6 here at it's european site whereas the HTC HongKong is giving an official upgrade to Dopod D810 (http://www.asia.htc.com/asia/event/WM6/hk/download_1.html). It's available for download after sign-up.
WM6 ROM Details:-

D810 WM6 English Version Upgrade code (2007/07/10)

ROM date: 06/29/07

unfortunately the simlock has nothing to do with spl nor cid lock... if you wish to upgrade your phone with software that is not provided by the htc company or your operator you have to unlock your phone in order not to brick it

My phone is free from sim-lock as I got it from shop(London). HTC (Asia) is giving an upgrade to Dopod D810....so I think I don't need to SuperCID unlock it....What do you say ?

you've bought your trinity in london, therefore you're a part of interest of htc europe wich does NOT offer us the possibility to upgrade our phones to WM6... notice that you have a HTC Trinity, not a Dopod D810 (nevertheless it's exatcly the same hardware )
so yes, you need to unlock your phone before you proceed with any upgrading...

CID unlock is un-necessary....but Hard SPL is a must....avoid brikcing your phone
