I've been using the 2.26 ROM by Molski. It's been working fine.
But I wanted to try some of these awesome new ROMS out. After install, I noticed that Modem Link is gone. I needed to use this program to use the phone as a bluetooth modem to my PC. I "activated" it so the PC could connect to GPRS.
My question is, with the 3.0 and above ROMS, where has Modem Link gone? Or is there now a new way to use my phone as a bluetooth modem for my PC?
TIA
You don't even bother to read up on the rom you are about to install before installing it? Your answer has been mentioned in every single AKU 3.3 thread.
There is no modem link. There is internet sharing. It works differently. Do a search to find out how.

Now I test Helmi_WM2k5_AKU3.2_32mb_v1.3.2_16mb_bitpool_32mbRamdisk. But I have Proplem is I Can't Connect Wireless Modem And Show The Screen is
"COM OPEN ERROR (8)"
Just very basic question: what do you need this for? Cannot you just use Internet Sharing? You will find it in all never roms (like Baniaczek and Xplode)

Hi
I've been trying to use my BA's GPRS connection to connect my pc to the internet. After looking up in the wiki I figured that I need the Internet Sharing program which is not present in my installed ROM :Helmi WM5 AKU3.2
I wanted to know if there's any location I can download it from ?
I tried downloading the latest WM5 ROM from the wiki but to my bad luck, the thing I wanted wasn't provided in the EXTROM.
well...I really don't have the wits to install another ROM.
anybody ?...
pleaaaaaase
I have a Kaiser with Alex's ultra clean rom installed. It works great with only one problem I have found so far, no bluetooth profiles. I have searched the foums a couple of timees with no luck. What .cab file needs to be installed to get this functionality. I cannot use it as a bluetooth modem or do bluetooth file transfers but bluetooth headsets do work.
josh
I have this same problem, hoping someone can help. I also use alex's rom.
Is this a known problem with the Ultraclean ROM, or have others not noticed this?
Was planning on flashing to the Ultraclean but might wait to clarify this first.
I have a tilt and flashed the factory HTC ROM and it worked OK there but when I went to the UC ROM I lost all of the profiles. I would think there must be a cab of with them in it as Alex's UC ROM is nothing but a stripped down version of the HTC ROM but I have not tried installing all of the ROMS one at a time to determine which CAB it is.
Not sure if this will help, but the following thread talks about adding Bluetooth DUN to WM5/6:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314371&page=3
Post #21 has a file to download. Give this a try and let us know if it works - then we just have to figure out the file transfer.
Actually, I think I need to clarify what you meant by missing Bluetooth profiles.
I have just flashed Alex's Ultraclean HTC ROM and confirmed that I am able to transfer files via Bluetooth to and from my TyTN2, using either my laptop or my N73. So I do not seem to be having problems with file transfer. Bluetooth headset also connects fine.
Don't use Bluetooth DUN so can't comment on that. Not sure what to suggest. I did flash to the new HTC ROM that was released a couple of weeks ago prior to Alex's, and flashed from Orange to the stock HTC a few days before that, so I don't know if that made a difference?
I will restore my device to the base ROM and see if I still have the problem. I install a few cabs and it may be one of them causing the problem. I'll report back...
I restored my device to the base Ultra Clean ROM and still no luck with file transfers. Below is the message windows gives me.
>
The file transfer failed because the receiving Bluetooth computer or device did not respond.
If you sent the file to another Windows XP computer, that computer must be running the Bluetooth File Transfer Wizard. If you sent the file to a Bluetooth device, make sure the OBEX File Push Profile is installed.

After flashing the base ROM, did you perform a hard reset before installing stuff?
I read somewhere that this helps to avoid further problems. I have done this after every flash, and have not had any major problems yet.
I have been running on the ROM for several weeks now and this is the only problem I have run into. I did a hard reset of my device last night and got the results listed in my reply above. So to answer your question, yes I did do a hard reset.
Hi,
I've searched and searched and searched and I cannot find a way to enable the modem on my Orange Diamond. I want to be able to use the modem with my laptop when I'm out and about. Only now and again for the odd occation.
People say when you connect you can select modem mode, or that you can use ICS, but no matter what i try I cannot find a way to enable this for an Orange version of the diamond.
I'm sure there must be a way. A registry tweak or something!?!?
Help please!
In programs, you should have 'Internet Sharing', which will let you choose the connection and type.
It was on the original orange 1.37 rom, and it's on the latest orange 1.93 rom as well.
When you plug the phone in, you won't get the popup with the extra options to use the phone as a modem, as I think this is only on the touch pro, custom roms, and an installable cab on these forums.
Hope that helps
Thanks a lot StarMonkee!!
I'll give that a go.
Don't suppose anyone has a link to the cab?
help!
need a direct link of RUU(rom update utility) for my htc wizard(cingular8125).
i have everything in place.
need to downgrade my rom
from haseeb's wm6.5
(which i've encountered some wi-fi issues[in the comm manager switch for wlan doesn't turn on])
to ham3r's wm6.1..
i have both .nbf files for radio and rom..
thanks!!
I'm running haseeb's wm 6.5 on my Wizard with no wi-fi problems. Do you by any chance have your Wizard connected to your computer via usb? I noticed that you cannot turn on wi-fi whilst connected. If you go to Comm. Manager the wi-fi icon is 'greyed out' and can't be selected. As soon as I unplugged the USB, I was able to search for wi-fi networks and set up my Home Network properly.
still doesn't work..
i tried both ways connected or not.
i've read some threads having the same problem.
and i think it has something to do with its radio version..
what radio version do you use?
would you mind giving me a direct link?
boot time was slow..
too many bugs,,
maybe flashing the recommended radio version for hasseb's rom can work this out..
thanks!
Please
Can you tell me how you got all of the stuff ready because im stuckish.
its done!
flashed its original rom first which is
RUU_Wizard_225111_22511102_022511_CWS_WWE_Ship_1
extracted the ruu folder
paste the first nk.nbf(os) ham3r's wm6.1
flashed it
and the other nk.nbf (radio) recommended radio version for ham3r's wm6.1
flashed it too
cross fingers...
boot time fast..
done! i got it all working..
