Does anyone know how to install the ArcSoft MMS Composer 3.5.1.5?? I've downloaded it from here: ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Software/Arcsoft_MMS_Composer_3.5.1.5.cab (thx, xplode). After moving to my BA it says "The installation of (blablabla) was unsuccessfull."
I've tried everything - extracting the files using CAB manager and copying them to their destination locations + XML-based registry setup via RapiConfig + 'empty' CAB file with original ArcSoft's setup.dll file.... The MMS account does not appear
i have it built into rom so i can not test the cab, i will not know did it installed correct
there was some registry for MMS to show in pocket outloook, but i dont remember them
Additionally, the device got soooooooooo slooooooooooooooooooooow....

I've found, that WM5 supports compressed CABs.
Use CabWiz to make compressed CAB.
Edit file cabwiz.ddf (in the same directory, where cabwiz.exe exists)
modify line ".Set Compress=OFF" to ".Set Compress=ON"
Warning1:
Don't delete original [uncompressed] CABs. Maybe - you will need them in the future.
Warning2:
Compressed CABs are not compatible with WM2003
Warning3:
Don't edit nor don't save them with WinCE CAB Manager from ocpSoftware [up to version 1.1.0.4]. Everything looks OK, but [after save] all files within the CAB are corrupted.
Probably the reason is, that compression aplies only to files, not CAB as a whole. File structure is the same and CAB Manager properly reads all info, but is not able to decompress files.
-----------
If you have only cab and need to compress it:
Open CAB with WinCE CAB Manager
Select from menu: File / Export / ExportToINF
start command line
switch to the directory with INF file
execute "[path]cabwiz xxx.INF /err cabwiz.err /cpu arm" (replace [path]cabwiz with full path do cabwiz.exe, replace xxx.INF with INF file name)
-----------
I you have EXE installer only:
start PC installation
cancel Pocket PC installation
look at subdirectories of C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync - probably you will find (uncompressed) CABs here.
FWIW, the next version of WinCE CAB Manager will include support for compressed CAB files as well. In fact, this is already available in the WinCE CAB Manager 1.2 BETA. See also:

After my first hard reset my qtek g100 lost the midlet manager link the jmm.exe also. Is there any way to install midlet manager again ?
thank you
Have you lost only the shortcut to jmm.exe or the complete application. If it's only the shortcut then you can easily create one with the built-in file explorer. If the whole application is gone, then check the ftp site for the cab file under the Extended ROM folder.
Downloaded the 'WM5 BA - TuMa v1.3 - Release' zip file and extracted the MidletManager-TuMa CAB. Passed it to the QTEK g100 storage card and instaled it. No errors so far. After installation made a soft reset. Midlet Manager link was there in Programs. The jmm.exe, etc also installed ok. However clicking the link or the jmm.exe file directlly nothing happens. What am I doing wrong ?
Can anybody help me with a problem
I want to autoinstall some cab files on a wm5 wizard. (Like tomtom does under wm2003)
Problem WM5 don't want to install!!!
I have used the 2577 folder and the autorun from tomtom, renamed my cabs to the tomtom names (ttn.cab, gps.cab etc) this works fine under wm2003 but will not install on wm5
Does Anybody have a hacked autorun.exe that installs cabs on wm5 or
a Hacked extended rom autorun.exe that reads the config from the storage card instead of the extended rom.
The second option would be better as then all i have to do is re-write the config for different sd-cards
Please Please Please help me all you programmers/hackers/reverse-engineers or whatever you would lke to be known as.
Many thanks in advance
Autorun reads the ini from the /ExtendedRom/ location and that is hardcoded..
I can't be changed because it will render the certificate invallid.
However you can use:
PocketPC Installer ( http://www.pocketpctoolkit.com/index.htm )
It will make an autorun.exe for you (to install cabs registry keys etc etc..)

Doesn't Autoconfig.exe just reads the Config.txt file from the same directory?
Just change the Config.txt so it fits your needs and I think you will be done.
Only problem is that every app will be installed to Main Storage.
I actually have to know this, but cannot try it right now, my device is flashing one of my test Roms

The one from orange (NLD) doesn't. It reads the one in the extended rom.
Have disassebled it with IDA-pro, there I saw the strings pointing to the extended rom.
After patching it I got a certificate error when I tried to run it..
with help from this site ive found the necessary files and fixes provided by others and managed to get network wizard running on wm5 including auto detection.
install Flys cab first then extract networkwizard-2nd to windows directory on ppc and then use reg file to add necessary reg.
Hey guyz..the long awaited..please try this STk version..i hope it works or i will try some more stuff
Just download and install the CAB file..for advanced users i have posted only the files..but now i have attached a CAB file also
How do you make this work?
@ather90
Not working for me.
Installing .cab always results in "...the installation was unsuccessful".
Trying to reconstruct .cab .xml actions results in no action on running stk.lnk from Programs.
Maybe you can share some more info on how to organize file on Hima (what services should run, maybe files to startup, etc.)
Thanks in advance.
copying the file on the first zip file, still STK doesn't work.
and
cab won't succesfully install.
thanks.
