damn guys!

Finalmente ci sono riuscito.
Grazie e scusami per il fastidio.

New ROM is working fine. Just loaded it this morning. Hopfully the battery will last a bit longer now. I still went ahead and tweaked the display timeout as I've done in the past. This seems to help. I notice that it displays "Test ROM" during boot. Not that it's a biggie but thought I mention it. The EDGE icon still doesn't display as "E". Bummer. I really had hoped this was fixed but sadly no. Overall the ROM seems stable. It did go through the Cold Boot twice. For some reason after it booted the first time it must have had a problem cause on the second boot it did it again. No problems since and all of my apps are running as they should.

Under which bootloader is it running and if I have still the 1.04, can I upgrade directly?
Newbee you know, sorry

Well, the ROM works fine, but it didn't solve my problem of disconnecting from the GSM network.
I still get the "No Service" and "Searching..." messages, and I am still occasionally being disconnected while in call.
Oh well... I guess I'll just have to start the repair cycle, as it has to be a hardware fault in the phone. I don't care that HTC customer support insists that it must be a corrupt ROM, it's the fourth ROM version dammit...

Can someone who has loaded the ROM post the bootloader version?

receiving only some SMS

I have a problem receiving SMS
(network and user independent)
- but can not put it down to any application installed or even restoring from backup - happens on a virgin XDA 2i after hard reset -
i even upgraded to latest (o2) rom 1.11.162 WWE (no change in symptom)
Rom 1.11.00 WWE
Radio 1.00.00
Problem is getting worse - (I receive about half of my SMS) - testing showed that on trying to receive an SMS the XDA switches on and then looses the network and starts looking - when the network is aquired again there is no notification of a new SMS and it is also not received.
Any help????
further troubleshooting
on looking into this further -
seems (not really confirmed yet) that this happens when signal strenght is less then 3 bars.
happens regardless of XDA having to "wake up" or being on already.
happens intermittently and randomly - without changing location of XDA (receiving) and other phones messages are received or not - no pattern
so here a few questions to help me troubleshoot this further:
a) if this is a signal strength problem - would a radio upgrade fix this?
b) - seems that there is more to it as I can not understand why the sending party is getting a delivery message. If the XDA lost the signal the message should not register as delivered.
c) could it be my SIM card? - before I go out and buy a ready to go sim only from O2 to test this I would like to know if it is worth my time and money.
further troubleshooting II
OK - I got another SIM card and tested it - same problem
I also tested my SIM card in another phone and I get everything. -
so it is not the SIM card -
Unfortunately also the signal strength therory got shot to bits - had all bars showing when the SMS receive failed. (I can always send and receive calls - this problem only afffects receiving SMS)
However - I notice that the signal strength bar goes up and down like a YoYo and is very irratic. I would have full bars on a Nokia and barely 2 on the XDA and then it would jump up and down again.
at this stage I really thinkk this is HW related (just a crap phone I suppose).
really don't know what to do next (other than handing it in for repair)
troubleshoot (III)
well - I had to hand it in to the nice men at O2.
They took it and yesterday, after 5 working days (not bad!) I got it back -
was told that they found the power on button to have been faulty and replaced it.
I tested immediately after getting it back --- and you guessed right - same problem as before. So back to the shop it was for repair attempt number two.
SMS don't reach my phone / me!
I got the same problem.
At a certain time I noticed, i'm not getting any SMS messages. It became obvious, when my provider sent me a push message (doesn't get stored in SMS box) notifying me I will receive an SMS with lost calls (a regular option).
I dont get any sms messages, they are delivered though, but don't show... SIM card works in another phone, my XDA doesn't work with other SIMs.
When i do a hard reset, it works, but after a sprite backup: no go.
this is the only change i did in last days: use the sprite backup. is it the culprit?
thx for ideas.
b
still no SMS received
the saga continues - got the XDA back yesterday - repair slip stated that
a) I had downlevel SW and
b) wrong settings
- on checking the XDA - ROM level was the same as I handed it in, as was radio and others (I had flashed the ROM with the newer O2 version ealier myself)
- re settings - I did not change them from when I got the XDA back the first time.
On testing - you guessed again - same problem persists.
What to do now? Is this a problem with the XDA?
I can recreate the problem at will. Put the XDA in a spot where it shows one or two bars on the phone. Switch it off. Send two SMS. When receiving first one, XDA wakes up, looses network and re-aquires, but does not receive message. Second SMS (XDA is already awake) will be received. Delivery messages for both SMS will be received by sender.
Has anybody experienced the same behaviour?
@ perchhog
Hi -
see also post from Maresch - "SMS blocked or lost"
I can recreate this problem on a virgin XDA after hard reset without any SW loaded before a first Active sync. I am not using sprite or any backup SW and it happens. (I have seen posts stating this might be the problem but not in this case)
old sprite backup program
I guess we do have different problems; read also post from americans labeling sms messages as text messages..
well i sorted it out: got a new sprite backup program (3.0), tried restore from former backup files, it showed corrupt message files (\windows\messaging). I erased the whole directory, now it works.
good luck with your problem, if it is hardware, go get a new one.
lpb
"unreceived" text messages
I also have an intermittent problem with "unreceived" text messages. At first it was one mate and I thought he was either stupid or lying. Then another mate said that he sent an SMS that I didn't get either and he could show me the message in his "sent items" folder.
I found that if I reboot my phone every day it rarely happens. But if I leave it on for a few days without reboot, I'm bound to miss texts.
Tried re-installing etc etc, doesn't seem to help. Bottom line is that I've told my mates NEVER to send me important news over SMS, as I might not get it.
I love my 2i... I wish it was a bit more dependable though.
tell O2 about it
Have you been on to O2 about this?
you seem to describe the same problem - (by the way - a reboot does not fix my issue) - When I talk to Novo - the O2 repair team - they have never heard about this - neither has the irish O2 XDA helpline. Go and tell them!
still not working
I just got my replacement XDA 2i
I inserted the SIM, switch the XDA off and send myself a text message. You guessed right - the XDA comes alive, screen lights up, suddenly the network is lost, it re-aquires and - no sign of a new message received, nothing in inbox BUT a delivery report received on the sending phone.
Back to O2 ......
The Saga continues
Was on to a very nice girl in O2 support - and they are investigating.
Somehow I got the feeling it was not the first call she had re this issue.....
update after a while now
worked with O2 for a week on my account settings - they can not find anything wrong and show messages delivered - I do not get them. - O2 Data support advised to get the phone replaced - which I did - twice again and still the same problem. This is definitely a problem with the phone and I really do not know what to do any more. I have now the 4th !! replacement phone and still the same problem.....
Have you tried upgrading the radio stack? This has helped some people with connection issues.
Hi Pug
no have not tried that yet - worth a try -
have no luck however accessing any of the links you posted for the ROM(s) with the 1.04 radio stack.
(no permision or site can not be found)
could you kindly include a link to the (non stripped) O2 version with camera fix and radio 1.4? - will give it a shot then
to Pug et all
Ok - found a working link to Pugs Rom (Thanks a million) - did a radio upgrade only (by deleting MS.nbf and nk.nbf) - had a glitch on upgrading but eventually got it all working. Now what you are all waiting for - the result:
tested the usual first and it definitely receives the first text message on wake up where it previously had failed. On putting it into a location where the signal strength is even weaker (less than two bars) it now does not try to receive - BUT will also not try to receive when back to full signal strenth - until a new text message is sent and then both are delivered.
Conclusion: HUGE improvement and no messages lost - (although potentially delivered with some delay - need to investigate this further). Hope everything else works as before have not tested yet.
3 CHEERS for Pug!
final comment and resolution of SMS receive problem
First - the radio upgrade DID resolve this issue. (why I discarded this a few months ago? Seatone had the same problem on a Radio 1.04 :-( )
I sent myself over a 100 text messages since and did not get it to fail or loose one single message. I do like my XDA again!
The ONLY gripe I have is that the red LED does not come on to inform you a message is waiting for you should you have missed the acustic signal.
But I can live with that (nobody a solution for this I suppose?)
So final conclusion - the problem of receiving SMS on an XDA when in standby and weak reception which resulted in loss of network and lost text message before can be solved by a radio upgrade -
THANKS and 3 Cheers for PUG
Please help....
I had the same problem as you! Unfortunatelly, upgrading to the latest radio version was of no help to me.
Now I don't receive ANY sms... It seems that if I send a couple of sms messages, sometimes I receive them the second or third day!!!
I tryed different ROM's, with different Radio versions....
Now I've installed TUMA v1.4 WM5 Rom, hoping that this will do it. But still nothing.... If I send a sms from another mobile to my number, I don't receive it on the Blue Angel...
I've tried my SIM card in another phone, and it works well.
Also I know that I am able to SEND sms, I've tested this.
Please help, as this is reaaaalllllyyy enoying (
Thank You.
why dont u guys post your specs here, maybe something related to it, buggy ROM, dunno.
if it helps i have a SIM card locked to a portuguese operator, with the following specs:
Specs:

ROM date: 01/27/05
Radio ver: 1.04.00
Prot Ver: 1337.42
Ext Rom ver: PUGS 1.11.162 (ty )
and never had any probs regarding sms.
have u tried a test in the O2 shop, so they can see it with their own eyes? gl guys, i really do thing you will need it
sms receiving
I know all your problem on 02 sms.
1. after upgrade your 02 rom. you use the backup fle from old ROM.
2. the sprite backup soft is running fastly and it have many functions but it can make this mistake.
the solusion is that you must insert one by one soft after upgrade ROM.

I've been having a 8125 for a while now. and I love it. But lately I've been having a problem of phonecalls not getting to me. I know I'm not out of range or anything but I'm just not reciving calls. Even when someone leaves a msg I sometimes get no notification. Even after a reset. But when I actually recieve a call and then they leave a msg I see about 5 voicemails waiting for me when the phone actually only ran once. I with Cingular (before anyone ask).

Rom Date 2/10/06

Unexplainably missing calls
Respectfully, I do not think the answer to Part 1 is in the indicated thread. That thread mainly deals with dropped calls in combination with GPRS apps.
I have the exact same problem as Zaiaku experiences: missed calls, while the phone doesn't actually have a 'missed call', and the voice-mail notification arriving hours later. At the moment the other person tries to call me, he/she immediately gets voice-mail, even though I'm certain I have good reception at the location I'm at.
I'm not running any GPRS apps (not even mail), and I do not have the dropped calls problem.
Operator: T-Mobile NL
Qtek 9100 G4
ROM: 2.24.10.1 WWE
Radio: 2.25.11
ExtROM: 2.24a Mr.Clean
I hope anyone has a bright idea. This is becoming quite embarrasing...
GPRS may still be the cause of missed calls...
Unless you have completely disabled GPRS it can be the cause of missed calls. I experienced mystry missed calls before I disabled GPRS completely (by calling my provider and telling them to block Data Services except Text Messaging). When I returned to using GPRS I have eliminated the missed calls problem with careful management of GPRS applications and the recent registry tweak found in the referenced thread.
Also, Zaiaku gave no info about what he is or is not running on his phone.
I have the same problem, also time to time my phone answers for me or even worse, dials for me.
The problem is that I use GPRS often and need it to run (can not disable).

For the GPRS Problem look to the thread in my first post here. There is a 'fix' of sorts.
If you have an active GPRS Session then incoming call will always go to voicemail, that can't be changed.
As for the answering or dialing be itself, I've not heard of that before but I wonder if you have the buttons locked when your device is sleeping?
I've have a few times when while removing the phone from its case I hit the red or green buttons enough for a press to register.

Call Ended 00:00

So I fanally got my Kaiser yesterday And It kicks @$$ XD
I live in Mexico, So it is an unlocked unit, and it recognized my local cel network as soon as I turned it on with the local carrier's sim (telcel).
One problem though: I can receive calls, but not make them... after dialing, I get the call dropped about 5 seconds later without tone that says "Call Ended" with time 00:00.
Anyway to fix this =(
I've tried the search and nothing popped out. Thanks! =)

Sure
Welcome to AT&T.
I left verizon (due to their crippled hardware). I get virtually no signal in various parts of L.A. including my home. You place a call, their signal goes to zero, your call ends.
At least that's my 0:00 story.
I would like to reply to this...because I've been having this problem with AT&T consistently since I've come back to school (I go to school at Texas A&M in College Station)
I guess I could copy and paste a lot of stuff about it, because I've done a lot of posting about it on AT&T's forums...but I'm too lazy so I'll just put the link.
http://forums.wireless.att.com/cng/board/message?board.id=cingular&thread.id=76225&jump=true
My problem, however, is that when I have this condition, I cannot make OR receive calls (received calls go to voicemail, and although I see that I have a missed call or a voicemail message...I can't call the voicemail or I get Call Ended 00:00)
What I found was that whenever I'd call, the icon in the upper right hand corner (the one with the signal bars) would change from having bars and the phone icon to having bars and the 3g icon...it looks as if the phone TRIED to start dialing as a phone call, but changed to data, which knocked out the call.
If I connected to the internet, then I would get the H sign (so I know that 3g works). If I try to call with the H symbol, then the call connects every time.
If I use bandswitch, then I can eliminate the problem by FORCING the phone to go into 3g (UMTS) mode OR by FORCING the phone to go into Edge (GPRS) mode...the problem only exists when the phone is in auto mode (on bandswitch) or if bandswitch isn't installed. My problem is that bandswitch isn't a free program...so I only have a few more days of the trial before it expires.
I hope my topic on AT&T's forums has some helpful information

It sounds like the information on your SIM card could use an update.
Call AT&T and ask them to send an OTA to your SIM. If you don't have a current IRDB, your phone may not be picking up the correct tower or signal in your area.
I am not actually using it with AT&T... I use it with Telcel, a Mexican Cell Phone Network Service Provider, because it is where I live =).
Anyway, got it to work after a while. I went to Settings (Personal tab) > Phone > Services
I updated the data there; I also "re-found" my network in the network tab, but I'm pretty sure the first procedure got it going.
Tanks for your time.
When my phone was working, I tried to call AT&T locally, but they didn't know what was going on and didn't find anything wrong with the "network"

Under phone settings, there is a tab titled "band" (assuming you have it set to be shown, i think kaiser tweak/ reg editing can expose it) that you can switch between gsm and wcdma (G/E or 3g/H). I had that same problem when i first got my phone. i changed out sim cards a time or 2 and finally got everything working when i manually set the radio to one or the other. I've updated the radio a few times since then, but i still keep the switching manual, in an attempt to conserve battery power (I only need 3g/H when i'm online).
The problem with that is that AT&T branded Tilts never have this tab "band" and kaiser tweak doesn't expose it (I don't know what specific registry edit would expose it)...so I can't just switch between gsm, umts, etc.,
** Of course, I didn't check for an updated version of kaisertweak. One of the topics says it hasn't been updated in a while even though it has?
Yes, even WITH the latest version of kaisertweak and the latest version of the XML, turning on band (and then softreseted to make the options stick) does not make a "band" tab

curious, did you run the decert cab to allow unsigned code to run on your phone? could that be stopping changes from occuring?
heh, time to jump into the 'VOID' then? hardspl it and join the ranks of those who haven't bricked their phones yet! I guess i was lucky to have the band tab on the htc version.
I'm not sure how I would even know if I've run the decert cab or not?
Even though I guess this is the namesake of the site, I wouldn't want to change my ROM even though the AT&T ROM is doubtlessly inefficient as (insert inefficient thing here). To me, unless I know why the problem is happening, then attempting any solution seems counterintuitive (like giving the man the fish instead of teaching him).
So AT&T suggested just randomly sending a new SIM card (yet I know from other people's experiences that that doesn't necessarily end the problem) and AT&T has suggested to others that they get a new device (which has also not necessarily ended the problem.) These are just as shallow solutions until I know why the problem exists in the first place.

Thanks! =)

Hey Jim,
I wonder how no one has pointed it out till now, but MAYBE it could be a problem with the Radio rom in ur phone.
Have u tried upgrading to a different RADIO? do u know which version it is?
The following radios have been doing great with ppl around here...
1.27.12.17
1.27.12.32
You can download them from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349375
Try flashing one of the above mentioned and see if that solves ur problem!
hope this helps!
I guess you were addressing Jim, but I think I simply need to know if 1.27.12.11 for Radio is a known faulty radio (because that's the radio *I* have...so if other people know it to be faulty, then that's great for research)...and why? If so, then that would be the reason why it doesn't work (which is what I'm looking for) and then I'd be willing to switch easily.
But not before then.
Checking the radios topic, it seems as if no one reports a problem with 1.27.12.11
so...I don't know if switching is going to fix anything
I'm putting my problem on hold...it seems like it can transition better now and call out or receive calls better.
I've had the same problem with Telcel until I upgraded my SIM card to a 4.0.
The replacement costs $110 pesos (about $10 USD) and it's a quick and painless procedure!
Note: I still get the occasional call drop, but it improved things dramatically.
Try it out!
Cheers from Tijuana!

my friend, I have the same radio 1.27.12.11
and the same problem.
I just found this topic searching why my phone do not work at 80% of the time, the mobile provider here in argentina recently told me "your phone have a problem" so I'm in crisis.
Let'see what happen updating the rom / radio / etc !!!

Possible fix for missed calls.

CDMA can't do data and voice at the same time so if the phone is transferring data and you get an incoming call, it will go to straight to voicemail. For WM most people don't notice this because data isn't always on, but for us it's more of a problem especially if you're using things like navigation.
There is a solution, it's to turn off "Dedicated Data Transmission Mode". For some reason this is enabled by default (at least on my device).
To do this, start a console and type:
Code:
echo -e "AT+HTC_DDTM=0\r" > /dev/smd0
if you want to see if it's enabled first type:
Code:
echo -e "AT+HTC_DDTM?\r" > /dev/smd0
and then do:
Code:
su
logcat -b radio
There should be an entry at the end saying:
Code:
AT< +HTC_PKTST: 0
if it's disabled, or
Code:
AT< +HTC_PKTST: 1
if it's enabled.
Anyone know why this is enabled by default, surely calls are more important than data?
If this works well we can put it in the RIL.
Will this stay disabled even after a reboot? Or is it something that would need to be done every boot?
This sounds great. I actually haven't missed many calls, I think I lost more in Windows Mobile.
This is a small related question / observation: in winmo, if a text message came in, it would interrupt the data. On Android, it appears that the text does not interupt data at all. I could tell this because I stream music, and in Winmo it would always stop and rebuffer, but Android, the text comes in and nothing is lost. It appears to me that Android handles our data service more efficiently. Also, it seems like 3g coverage sticks better in areas of poor service (my office on the 43rd floor for example)

It stays disabled after a reboot.
interesting, would this interfere with sms too? I would assume the sms just keeps trying again until the phone accepts it, and this would not affect it?

Yes, SMS doesn't doesn't have this problem.
Can someone make an androidupdate.tar with these changes for noobs
PLz & Thanks
I was actually going to make a post about this...
I've been missing a ton of calls. I had no idea until several people (all non-related) gave me crap about it over the last 2 week. I even watched people try to call me 4-5 times in a row and nothing came through. Then they sent me texts and I got those instantly.
I've missed pizza delivery phone calls, calls to let me know to let people into a building, etc. I thought that maybe it was reception, but watching people call me proved that it wasn't. Didn't think it was data either, since I never really actively use it, and didn't think that so many calls would "happen" to fall on times where the data was being used in the background.
Quite unpleasant...
Needless to say, hopefully this remedies the issue!
Another possibility is the CMOD command. Usually it is only supported on GSM devices, but for some reason ours responds with OK which tells me maybe it is supported?
Right now it is set for CMOD=0 (I couldn't tell you why, nor can I tell you what will happen in the other modes... I still haven't found a good description of the spec)
Here's the description from a gsm spec:
AT+CMOD Select Call Mode
If single mode is selected, the call origination
and hang-up procedures are similar to those
specified in proposed ITU-T
Recommendations V.25ter, T.class1 and
T.class2. Semicolon dial modifier shall be
used to start a voice call when +FCLASS=0.
In GSM there can be alternating voice/ data
and voice/ fax calls (see GSM 02.03).
Syntax: AT+CMOD=<mode> <cr>
Parameters: <mode> = 0, 1, 2 or 3
0 = single mode. (DEFAULT)
1 = alternating voice/fax (teleservice 61).
2 = alternating voice/data (bearer service 61).
3 = voice followed by data (bearer service 81).
Interesting.
I stream a shoutcast stream and Podcasts everyday to/from work. In cases where people do call me, the stream stops and the phone rings.
I am using a CDMA phone (Sprint) too.
I just tried streaming audio via OrbLive while receiving a call and it stopped the streaming and displayed the incoming call. Sprint Touch as well.
If it makes a difference, I had to close OrbLive and restart it in order to continue using it. It kept showing that it was trying to connect, but never did, so I closed it.
this was disabled by default on my phone... or maybe I disabled it last year? I don't know...
I think we should absolutely add this to the RIL.
mine is disabled, using plemen's donut from nand. for a while (a couple months) now I have had no problem with missing calls, even when using internet or navigation.
Anyway to script this one up?

Long sob story version:
Been waiting and looking for an update to my Xperia Pro, wanted a good QWERTY slider Android. Unfortunately, manufacturers think there's no market for it just because they kept releasing **** spec versions, so obviously people won't buy em. =\.. all in all, had no choice but to pick up the best out there spec wise, the Droid 4 from the USA through eBay as it has the specs to work globally.
First issue unfortunately was not being able to get data connection. That is fine, as I can use WiFi for now until I figure it out.
But the main issue is with calls/sms!
When the phone first boots, obviously there's the warning about "This SIM card is from an unknown source".
Once booted, I am unable to receive any calls. Any calls made to that phone will immediately be sent to Voice mail. Doesn't matter if the phone is awake or in sleep.
Now here is the funny thing, ONCE I send out a SMS or make a call, I can start receiving calls. Unfortunately, this is also short lived as after an undetermined period of time, the issue will pop up again and I won't be able to receive any calls or even SMS.
As it sometime works and sometimes does not, this gets really frustrating as I can't pin point what exactly is the problem here.
I could use the help and advises of the gurus here and this is really infuriating to me.
Thank you very much everyone for taking the time to read and assist me on this issue.
Kind Regards
Further Update:
I have left the phone on standby for a while.
What I can tell you is, SMS will take around 5-10 minutes to be delivered to the phone and the alert to be played.
Calling still gets set to voice mail. It is as if it has a small open window of opportunity for SMSes to get in. This is unbelievable frustrating...
You need to install Mentor's GSM patch It can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2394689
For it you'll need at least SafeStrap. Plus I'd recommend installing some better ROM, my personal favorite is CM11 unofficial by Stargo - found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2535705
(you need to apply the GSM patch AFTER you installed the ROM)
GL and enjoy the sweet slider, I'm loving it since Sep 2012
