so I'm sitting here in the dark playing with my cingular 8125 and realized that wheb I slide open my phone the keypad light doesn't come on until I push a button. any ideas as how to make it turn on when I open it and stay on till I close it?
Its a hardware thing.. so i dont think you can change the timing on the keyboard. i guess all you can do is press a button whn u want the light on

Sorry if this has been discussed already, but is there a way to disable the Start Menu, and for that matter EVERYTHING but the dialpad while on the phone? I used KaiserTweak to keep my phone awake, but now everytime i go to use the dialpad while im on the phone, my ear has managed to open the start menu or some program and its very annoying .
TIA
I just knock the power button to disable the screen - then flick it on again if I need to tap keys.
I tried this but it doesnt really work. The phone seems to turn itself back on at some point during the call, and then when i go to hang up or use the keypad, i have google maps or some other app opened up. Major pain in the butt. If someone has a way to make the dialer app "always on top" or disable the start menu and/or taskbar when the dialer is open, that would be awesome for me.
by default, the screen is suppose to shut off after a few seconds while you are on a call. Have you made a reg hack to change this? or are you suing a cooked ROM? Most cooks will turn off this feature. Also, it's the first option in Kasier Tweak.
i've tried with it on and off. The problem seems to be that if you hit the wheel on the side (to adjust the volume) the screen turns back on...so if you want to adjust the volume, you have to pull the phone away from your face first, and then hit the power button again when you're done.
Hey only had the kaiser about a week now on o2. Iv found a very annoying problem but im now sure if this is just a fault with my pda or a common problem.
If I unlock the device and just press a random button with keyboard closed the button back lights come on, and if I wait for them to go out again and press any key they come on again, Which is good! When I slide out the keyboard the keyboard lights come on, but if I wait for them to go out and press a keyboard button again the lights dont come on. Infact if I press any button at this stage the lights come on. So I then have to be continuously opening and closing the keyboard!
This is really annoying when im trying to use my pda in the dark!
Any help will be much appriciated.

Go to Settings>Personal>Buttons>Backlight, and uncheck "Enable keyboard backlight auto sensor", then the keyboard lights will come on whenever you press any keyboard button.
I know, doesn't make much sense - counter-intuitive - that's the Kaiser for ya!
Fixed it! Thankyou very much. I would have never found that option.
I find this rather annoying, but don't know how to adjust it.
When making a call, sometimes you have to press through prompts like, 1, 2 , 3 etc. But after listening to the prompts, I find the phone screen to be OFF. I know that it's a power saving feature. However, it's quite annoying when to have press other keys to continue. I have to press the power button to get the screen to come back on.
Secondly, when connected to a call, the dialpad goes to the status screen by default. I have to change to keypad as well.
So here are my questions:
1) Anyway to change the amount of time before the screen blanks out while in a call?
2) Any other way to turn on the screen quickly without have to push the power button (which is difficult to push BTW)?
3) Any way to make the dialpad go to the numbers by default after a call is connected?
Thanks for any inputs!

KaiserTweak should solve some of your problems, if you have installed it.

Speaking of dialpads,
Do any of you guys having problems with inaccurate digit presses? I mean, I try to press 2, and 0 gets pressed instead, or other adjacent and non-adjacent numbers. Quite annoying really. Anyone experienced the same?
I just got the Compact IV (you seen my other post about memory...)
I just realised Im struggling with making calls to likes of T-Mobile. When the call starts the backlight goes off instantly! I need to press the round button to get the light back on to see the keypad to choose any key numbers... frustrating. As soon as I choose a number, the screen goes black again. I need to choose T-mobile like 4 diff numbers to get to someone to speak to... any help guys?
here ya go! enjoy
all,I am using CM 4.1.11.1 with Community Hero Theme.
I know the reason for draining my battery but I don't know how to solve it, can any one help?
issue:
When you press phone END button to keep th ephone in SLEEP mode,
- Phone goes to SLEEP mode and the Screen light is OFF.
- But, the Light on Physical keyboard is not switched off some times.
To see this, Get into a dark room and press END button to keep the phone in SLEEP mode.
Once the Phone is in SLEEP Mode,Do not Slide your Keyboard, Keep as it is and observe the Light from space between Slider and keyboard.
(I observed while I was sleeping..my phone was off but there was some light coming out)
I think this is not happening all the times but I have seen it many times and it is draining my battery.
To solve this, I use to open the Slider Press END button and make sure the lights or OFF and close the Slider.
Has any one observed this? can any one tell me how to solve this?
Is there a way to disable and enable the back light of Keyboard?
