Hi,
using the sticky guides, i've successfully [i think] SIM and CID unlocked my wizard g3 which is a TM MDA Vario.
I now cannot get it to connect to my mobile network (o2).
I've installed various ROMs including O2, TM, Cingular, wm6 and the CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard; all install OK but after the reset, still says "searching...".
I've also installed the various radio only upgrades from the sticky; again after the resets it still just says "searching...".
Have i got a brick?
It was working fine on a TM sim before the upgrade but that sim is now expired so i cant test a TM sim.
PS my wifi works fine, Async etc. and all the PDA functions fine, it's just the phone network that's the problem.

What is your IPL, SPL, GSM, and OS? Soft reset and copy these off the screen as it boots up. If you are in the state I think you are in it is because you flashed a 2.x rom into 1.x bootloaders and skipped the step of flashing your carriers latest rom before flashing a custom rom. This is just a guess because you haven't given much information, I apologize if I have it wrong. Give us more info and we can probably get you fixed up.
Also do you have a valid SIM card to test with? if your sim is expired as you mention it probably won't connect to the network which may be why it is searching. Unlocking just allows you to use sims from other carriers on your phone not allow you to use an invalid sim on any network.

hrm, it looks like it should work. I would flash the T-Mobile 2.26 rom and update to AKU2.x. Then flash an AKU2.x custom rom of your choice (If you desire to do so.) The lowest I have ever flashed my device is the 1.05 button rom, but then always flashed back up to the Cingular 2.25 rom before installing a custom rom. I don't see why your setup would be an issue unless the radio you are using isn't compatible with that OS. Maybe others that are more versed in this stuff than I am can help.

I flashed my T-Mo MDA to 2.24 and it went horribly wrong. So I tried to restore my backed up SD image using Wizbackup which isn't "allowed". The net result is that I have IPL/SPL at version 1.01 and OS at 2.24.
But the phone will only go into bootloader and Activesync doesn't work.
I can connect through MTTY - but the "L" command gets refused.
Is this my bootloader preventing me from doing anything? How can I change it through MTTY (which seems to be my only method of communication)
Please help! The phone is a brick now.

If you can get to the bootloader you're going to be just fine.
Get to the bootloader screen, connect your device, then run a 1.X version RUU installer. If you connect your device while in the 3 color bootloader screen there's no need to establish an activesync connection (which just gets killed anyway when flashing)
That will get you back to a working condition with a ROM that can be CID unlocked. (if you haven't already unlocked)
Then you should be able to flash to whichever 2.x ROM your little heart desires.

This is getting better...
I managed to recover the MDA by loading the Cingular ROM.
But I get Simlock and "Data crashes. Please contact your service center"
I've tried loading other T-Mobile USA versions to match my SIM card, but I can't get past this.
I also tried the SIM unlock applications, but none seem to clear this error.
What should I do now?

If you've gotten the "data crashes" error you're likely going to need to pay $40 to the boys at http://www.imei-check.co.uk/ to get the phone properly SIM and CID unlocked.
Once that's done, you can flash any ROM you'd like to it.

You were right - it worked.
I paid the $40 for the IMEI unlock and everything is now working again.
I'm not sure why this couldn't be corrected another way - but phew!

There are almost a week that my Qtek 9100 is unable to connect to my Phone network. It keeps searching and searching. When I click on Manual Network Selection, I receive an error msg: "Unable to read setting from the network. Try viewing settings later ou disconnect data connetion and try again". What should I do?

Did you already tried a (òh , ooh) hard reset or reflash? Otherwise it seems you're phone-receiver circuit is defect; you've got to go for repairs...
I´ve tried both: hard reset and reflashing with new ROM....

No, I upgraded to the new ROM after the problem....
I did a mistake about the versions: My radio version is 02.25.11 and the protocol version is 4.1.13.12....
I really don´t know the number of the older version of the radio, but it was working fine.

I'm trying to SIM unlocking again, using Lockwiz02b, as I downgraded to ROM 1.5.4.2 WWE, but I'm receiving an error msg: "Could not update itsutils.dll to the currente version, is it inuse?"
BTW, as I upgraded to ROM 2.24 in english (the original ROM was spanish) should I understand that my mobile is CID unlocked?

...with lokiwiz you unlock CID because of brand crossing ROM use, in order to prevent trouble (once CID unlocked it stayes unlocked) For language change it shouldn't be necessary.
For SIM unlocking you also can use i.e. attached file.
Can someone please help me out my friend told me he got WM6 working on his T-Mobile MDA, and i'm using a 2.26 ROM I got from here a while back

I ran this and apparently that's how I got the version i'm running now, I forgot which I had pervious, but I ran that, everything went smooth, it ran autoconfig etc, CID unlocked beforehand, and then i got CB-AIRAF.exe from here and then I ran it, it updated and completed, but when the phone boots up it is WM5.. it then says please wait 3 seconds to customize, then it puts up an error message reading "\Windows\AutoConfig.exe Not found" or something similar, and then that app closes, and the phone is bare bones WM5.. why the heck isn't Wm6 installing? it's very frustrating.. someone bare with me and help me figure this out i'd be greatly appreciated.

You apparently aren't CID Unlocked. Do the CID Unlock procedure at the top of this forum. Then make sure you flash the official TMobile ROM again to get back to IPL/SPL 2.26. Then upgrade to teh Faria rom.
The official tmobile rom.. i'm not sure which that is or where i get it from.. is that the cooked tmobile rom file i have ?

That is the official TMobile US ROM, the one that is recommended as a baseline ROM.

No. As I said, I think you are CID locked and thats why the update failed before. You now have to go through the steps of CID Unlocking. Please go to the top of this forum and find the Sticky by Dr. Putingham that is on how to CID Unlock your phone (title starts like [Read First]). Follow that step by step (line by line). Don't skip anything. You will downgrade, run a tool, downgrade again, and then upgrade back to this TMobile ROM. After all that, then you should be good to go for doing Faria's (or any other custom ROM). Once you CID Unlock you shouldn't have to do it again (unless you ever go back to a 1.x ROM at some point).
ok guys i followed the forum on how to unlock.. i installed the buttons rom, then CID unlocked, then put the official TMO rom on, then installe the Faria Crossbow, it worked !
BUT... the screen where it says tap the screen to set it up.. i tap it and it does NOTHING, as if its froze, i restarted it, same thing :-( any ideas?
EDIT: SRRY! i pulled the battery out and put it back in and it works! thanks for all the help guys!
Might anyone know why if i had a contact with a picture stored for them, i backed up/synced to Outlook 2007 before the upgrade to wm5, and outlook has the pics stored just fine, but when i sync with wm6, all my contacts sync except for ones with pictures...any ideas ?
Glad you made it to WM6, and able to figure out your issue with the screen.
As for pic contacts not sync'ing I'm not sure. I don't sync with outlook (I use SyncML with my company calendar) and my pic contacts all did fine that way from WM5 to WM6.
Hows it going guys this is my first post....ive had so many problems since switching to cingular with my tmobile MDA its hillarious!...i unlocked the MDA...got it too work with Cingular! I thought everything was perfect untill i realized i couldnt receive any text messages from any other carriers. Meaning if i used my cousins cingular phone to text my phone it would work....if i used my sprint phone...nothing would reach my phone...so i serched n applied all kind of cingular MMS GPRS settings .CAB files still nothing. If i put my SIM into an offical cingular phone the same thing happens...so now im hoping if i put the cingular rom on my phone it will make things better.. I need to downgrade first because every CID tool i use wont work but i found out its because i have 2.25 so basically does anyone have an old 1.XX offical T-Mobile ROM backed up anywhere or know how i can receive all text messages from all carriers?? Did you follow that tutorial step by step??? I had no problems with the button rom so I am not sure. I myself followed that tutorial when I recently unlocked my MDA and it went without a hitch...make sure you run lokiwiz twice and button twice. Not sure what else to tell you...sorry.

No, the Button rom is for the purpose of unlocking and is a really low IPL/SPL which was before the CID locking stuff was around.
I've read on another post that someone was having problems flashing the button rom like you are, and they were finally able to flash it by changing their radio rom first (I don't know if they had one of the newer radio's or what). Doesn't make sense to me as I've never seen that before, but what they heck, you could try downgrading to like the 2.19 T-Mo UK radio to see if that helps.
Also, have you tried flashing the T-Mobile 2.26 rom to your phone? Since this is an MDA and you are running Cingular 2.25 it sounds to me like you were already CID Unlocked (and you don't have to downgrade again to switch carrier roms, just switch).
It also is best to remove your sd card when doing the downgrading procedure.
Well after finally trying to upgrade my rom i am now stuck at the screen with red green and blue that shows my IPL and SPL.

I had a molski rom working on it before i just wanted to update cause alot of things stopped working. I use cingular service so i cant use the tmobile rom. I have installed the tmobile rom so i know it will take a rom. Im just having a hard time getting anything new to work. the CID was unlocked at one time will that change when i tried to upgrade or reinstalled the tmobile rom?

No, you should not have to unlock it again, unless you burned the button 1.05 rom again. Then you have to unlock it again.
so which rom which i try? Its a T-mobile MDA G3 and im using it for cingular service?
