I am running Faria's AKU3.3 ROM. Its been running great until I decided for some reason it would be a good idea to download Microsofts Day light Savings Time update for windows mobile. It seemed to install ok, then restarted the device.. now it just hangs on the Green Windows Mobile Screen. I've rebooted in safe mode and uninstalled the update, but it didn't change a thing.
Any ideas....

i downloaded the microsoft daylight saving time on faria's rom and nothing happened. my phone works fine. i think some people play with there phones too much and just striaght chop up the joint.
Cingular's worked fine.
After you installed it... how long did it take for your device to reboot?

Does this need to be installed on a WM6 device? (ie: Does WM6 already have this in it)? Or does it hurt to install this on a device that already has it?

So, I've unlocked my T-Mobile MDA G3 phone both CID and otherwise using loki. I've tried the T-Mobile update off their own site, and here is what happens. I suspect I need a different data cable, but I might be wrong there, so I figured I'd bring the issue to you all because you are the gurus of all gurus...type peoples.
So, here's what goes on. I download the software. I sync my MDA and my notebook. I ensure both machines are on and set to stay on. I check the connection and all is good. Heck, I've even backed up my MDA system using one of those backup utilities for Smartphones available online for trial download(which worked great, btw). So I run the software and click next and check everything it says the check and then it begins. This is where my problem begins and the goodness ends...
The MDA shuts off and just sits there. I don't touch it for fear of what might happen by being impatient, but every time, no matter which ROM I've tried to use for update purposes, the notebook pops up saying that it encountered a "communications error". It doesn't brick the phone, thank God. It simply just requires removal of the battery for 5-10 seconds after disconnecting the USB, then turning it on. It boots fine and all is good, except, no new ROM, same old 1.0.8.something version and bah!
I want to update my ROM and am stuck. I've tried at least 5 DIFFERENT ROMs and loaders and still the same thing.
I'm running the original T-Mobile ROM 1.0.8.something, IPL 1.X, and SPL 1.X. The phone says it's unlocked using the CheckLock program you can download from the forums, or elsewhere, I forget which. I've run the cidunlock with the loki tool multiple times and it finishes no issues.
If anyone has ANY ideas or thoughts, or even if they've run into this I'd like to know.
I'm pretty sure my phone right now won't do the whole A2DP via bluetooth bit, and that's what I'm REALLY wanting. I just got those Motorola HT820's and am anxious to play around with them more.
Anywho. You all rock and I've only been here like a day, but your information, walkthroughs, and just general geekiness(oh yeah, I work for the Geek Squad and we ALL use either the Verizon or Sprint version of the MDA, heh heh) have been most appreciated!

Hi all, ive been looking on here for a while now (and several other places too) for a fix for this. i have a cingular 8125 that works fine with all versions of activesync on windows XP, but on my home computer i have Vista RC1. i have downloaded WMDC and instaled that and i get all the way through the installation fine, then when i go to sync, it loads all the USB driver untill it gets to on that says "Unspecified Device" and fails. I havve tried the "WHOS" reg patch and several other things inculding checking for udates with the device attached, installing with the device attached....you get the pic..its bewen driving me nuts. Anyone either kow of a fix for this or have the driver(s) for me to install on the computer? Thanks in advance
Corey
Also...this has always been an issues since the stock 1.8 rom. i then tried the stock cingular 2.25 rom, the first release of the molski/faria/kyphur/etc. 3.3 rom, and the PDAVeit ver.2 WM6 rom and all have given me the same result. any ideas? i cant seem to find any driver anywhere, and im starting to think that maybe i have something wrong with my device.
bump for some help?
Vista Buisness N
Vista Buisness N confirmed not to work with active sync. Wait until Microsoft releases a patch. Probably tommorow
cool, thanks for the info...i hope it works on RC1 too.... do you know if it will be available from windows update or will i need to search microsofts webpage to get it? thanks for the help
I have vista ultimate got it a few weeks back and i ran into a problem with my mda because there is no active sync. I had to get the sync center version from RC1 to get it to sync right. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/devicecenter.mspx thats where i got it from you can give it a try.

i already have that and tried it :-( thanks for the thought though
::edit:; that part installs correctly, its when i plug my 8125 it says its looking for driver for an unidentified device
RUU under Vista
WMDC works fine for me (RTM build). The problem I have is eing unable to run RUU under Vista - it crashes after my Wizard goes into bootloader.
Someone seen this too or am I the only one unlucky?
bootloader
This is a very common problem. Ithink it has something to do with the rapi connections
Not sure this works, but have you made sure that the remote-NDIS network card is set to have the IP address assigned by the DHCP instead of using a static ip address (default)?
I am weary of upgrading to WM6 or Vista due to compatability issues. Even though the tech whore side of me is foaming at the mouth to them up and running I have read and think there are still too few drivers and support for Vista. Plus I need $134 to upgrade from business to ultimate

vista kind of sucks but wm6 is great.
Vista is just really annoying to use. I have Vista/sever 2003/xp on my laptop and I almost always use server. I think mostly because I develop web apps. Server just works, no crap.
WM6 is a very very welcome upgrade over wm5 and overall it seems less buggy than even the latest AKU's for WM5.
Has anyone used the final Active Sync 4.5? Any experiences to share? Is it better than the 4.2? Would love to hear about it....
I am using the AS 4.5 beta 2. It is working fine on my wizard.
After having it I installed Wizard love as well as WM6 now. Did have any problems.
I installed the 4.5 Final yesterday, and immediately started having problems. Reverted back to the 4.5 Beta, which has been excellent.

When you say problems, what exactly happened?
Every time I tried to sync on USB, ActiveSync kept crashing on my PC, and not releasing memory on my MDA.
It may have been a Note that got corrupted, which I have since deleted... but I haven;t tried re-installing the final ActiveSync yet.

What happens to the pairing up? Do you require a repairing of device? Thanks.
Wizard Flashed and boot crash
He Doctor T I have a Qtek 9100 and I flashed it to Consam_Prophet_WM6_Crossbow_msyh_chs_beta2 Gives
IPL 2.26
SPL 2.26
GSM 02.47.11
OS 10.1.0.811
But now the thing doesn' want to boot any more please help
Installed last week and not had any issues, pretty much the same as 4.5 B2. Still can't get 'Get Device Certificates' working though
Andy
No problems with AS4.5 here
I've been using 4.5 over the BETA for about a week also. Haven't had any problems with it whatsoever. Actual syncing process seems to be a little faster that with previous versions (aside from 3.8 that I used with my Axim).
Time changes automatically
I have used both the final and the beta versions of 4.5 and both of them would push the time on my phone to about 15 hours foward. I though it might just be the rom but i recently updated my rom and it still does it. Dont know if anyone else is having this problem or if my laptop is just possessed.
I have tried unsuccessfully to run Active Sync 4.5 Beta 2. I cannot even connect my Wizard to my Laptop or Desktop. I have deactivated my Firewall and Anti-Virus apps. I constantly get the message that Outlook is not my Default Email. I have ensured that Outlook is my Default Email and have Outlook open when I try to connect Wizard to those PCs.
I have uninstalled Active Syncs reinstalled all versions one by one and tried to connect with NO success.
Any suggestions? I have been playing with this for months and even wrote to MS. I cannot believe that this should be so frustrating and I cannot figure it out. Thank you in advance for your time and help.
Get it here http://www.palm.com/au/support/treo750/downloads/wm6update.html
ei, were you able to download and install it? I am getting an error message:
Error message:
"update is intended to update the 750 smartphone, it is not intended to update the language"
Error message appears in the computer when running the executable file.
I'm running Windows XP SP2
Option is TRY AGAIN. Same thing happens when you click on TRY AGAIN.
My language setting is set to english. My phone is also set to english....any idea on how to resolve this issue?
I have Version TREO750-2.23-RWE, I was able to download the Telstra release using my serial number, but could only open the zip file with winrar.
When I tried updating, I get error, "This updater only works with Palm Treo 750 Smartphone"
My unit was a replacement from Palm not the original Telstra unit, so I was able to upgrade with the 2.23.
Should I try the Telstra release?
Any ideas

open with wirar and extrac cheeimg and do a mini sd upgrde
I got it to work by editing the payload.xml file, changing the high to 2.23 and the RWE to ROW as these was my version (search the forum for this method)
Now have TREO750-2.26RWE
1.54.31.00
TEL-WM6-026
CARRIER DB 392
I now have all GSM/UMTS selections
Only Telstra stuff I have found is My Place and Telstra Business.
Mine installed without any issues but I had trouble with the download initially from Palm and with unzipping it. (I also used winrar.) I have to say I'm not particularly enamoured with Palm's method of restricting users to one download per serial since I just added one digit to my original serial and it then downloaded fine. STUPID!

...and the worst looking wallpaper I've ever seen! This is what it took them so long to do???
I just updated this over the Palm Generic Three 2.23 ROM and it definitely seems slower, and still unstable unfortunately. I am getting dropped calls randomly, it looks like when a data connection starts in the middle of a call, it will drop the call mabye 50% of the time?
Currently have installed
1. Opera 8.65
2. HTC X-Button 2.0
3. Fring (Latest on webby)
4. Esmertec Java + Skype (iSkoot Java Version)
Configured Services
1. Windows Live Hotmail Push (As items arrive)
2. Exchange Activesync (As items arrive)
Phone is using a 3 simcard, on X-Series Silver. What i might do is run virgin OS with no additional third party software, and just activate push hotmail + exchange and see what happens.
Previously using the generic Palm 2.23 ROM, seemed quite alot snappier, after trying this Telstra upgrade, even though its 2.26, i cannot seem to see any differences in usage, just a noticible slowdown in speed + a few additional icons. HSDPA Connection via BT on Internet Sharing on my laptop seems slower too, may have to try that again at different locations.
Any ideas/suggestions? Maybe i need to somehow edit the NBH so less software get installed? Or somehow have a "msconfig" equivalent to disable some auto startup programs? (Please advise on this for those that know how)
Thanks guys

From my experience, 2.23 ROM and 3AU's Radio is the best combination for me so far.
all works just fine for me... im dissapointed that the rom is a down grade from the att rom as far as the wm6 build is concerned...no surprises for telstra though...

Hey mate
Would you happen to know where i can get them seperately?? Would i just flash 3AU's ROM + Radio then extract the Generic Palm's 2.23ROM NBH and flash using the SD method?
Ive been flashing by modifying the payload.xml file method.
Thanks
now, I am encountering another problem...
was able to see the first page. But when i click on Start update, it would just show me a blank screen....any help?

Flash the 2.23 ROM first then Flash the 3AU Radio only ROM. The 2.23 ROM is here and you can get the Radio ROM(152.30) and instruction here
Well, i put up with using WM5 for the couple of months, and have been eagerly looking forward to the new skinned interface.
Just as i was about to use an un-official flash, Telstra finally released their ROM. Awesomeness.
Tried flashing in Vista, no go. XP 64bit, *almost* happened twice, then it wouldnt recognise my phone. Gave up with some programs, etc, and loaded up XP 32bit.
Flashed with no issues the first time, loaded updates with no hassles, and im now burdening down the phone with all the tweaks and programs i like to put on my devices.
Does anyone know what clock speed this ROM sets your phone to ? These are supposed to be a 300MHz processor in them, but when i ran 0mapclock before, and set it to 150MHz, i saw a major increase of speed. Not sure how accurate the program was, as it never seemed to remember my clocks, but it made me wonder what it runs at stock ... going to try under this OS and see if it works any better.
Edit: BTW, i have a Treo 750
Well, I upgraded my poor quality AT&T phone yesterday for a tilt. Took about 5 minutes of ownership when someone sent me to this site. I upgraded my software to mobile 6.1 after seeing the differences.
At first I had problems, the software I downloaded from the HTC webiste kept failing in windows xp. I don't know why. When I tried to install the hard SPL, I got the "white screen of death". The JumpSPL program worked, but I wasn't quite sure what that did... Eventually I restarted my computer and booted into my Vista (ick) install, and amazingly the HTC software finally stopped failing and upgraded the phone.
Very nice features, I like it a lot. This site was incredibly helpful. Thanks to all you programming gurus.
Oh also, what is the "radio version" stuff?
Check here.
