Changing UA - HTC Breeze

Hi,
I have been trying to change the User Agent on my MTeor.
I have tried to change the values in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent\ (Version, Platform, etc) but it still keeps on using the same UA.
Any other things that have to be done to make these settings apply?

Active Sync with new TMOBILE UK rom.

Hi,
I've just reflashed with the new UK TMobile ROM, and since then I'm having trouble using active-sync at work, I know the problem is caused by the sygate personal firewall config, but I can't change that because of company rules.
When I had the Mr Clean 2.2.4 rom installed it had a panel in the settings screen to change the USB configuration to use a different type of connection.
This worked fine.
At some point in the past I also had some registry tweaks which changed some networking parameters and that made it work fine too, I can't remember if they were on the device or on my PC.
Anyone out there remember the settings or know where I can get a .cab of that usb configuration tool?

If your device uses Windows Mobile 5 you must open some ports in the sygate firewall settings: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/help/activesync/sygate.mspx.
Also it's necessary to change the RNDIS driver settings in the mobile phones registry as well!
Use a regedit tool like PHM Registry Editor.
Here are the settings to be added (or to be changed respectively):
Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\USB\FunctionDrivers\RNDIS
Name of the Value to add: MTU
Type : DWORD
Data: 1514 (Value is Decimal)
Name of Value to add: MaxOutTransfer
Type: DWORD
Data: 1642 (Value is Decimal)
After a reset my Prophet (XDA Neo) synchronized well with active sygate firewall!

IE still goes to mobile sites after tweak?

I already changed the necessary registries, but IE still display the mobile version.
I have PIEplus installed, but it doesn't matter if I use PIEplus' settings, or change it manually...
I used the following taken from another post:
Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent \
Change the default value from "Mozilla/2.0" to "Mozilla/4.0".
Change the "Version" value from "MSIE 3.02" to "MSIE 6.0".
Change the "Platform" value from "Windows CE" to "Windows NT 5.1".
Might you be going through a proxy?
Is it possible that you are going through a carrier's http proxy?
alc630, this has been discussed several times in this forum. You may want to search. The problem is the browser.dll file on the Kaiser gives the agent settings to the website (as a mobile device) regardless of where you tweak it otherwise. The solution is either a hacked browser.dll file (found in here, look around) or use Opera Mobile.

Pocket Internet Explorer standalone needed/how to change user agent on Tilt

Okay, first post.
Summary: Requesting WM5 PIE standalone, Tutorial of how to change user agent for WM6 on (Hopefully) most AT&T Tilts/HTC TyTN IIs.
Full post: On the upside, I figured out how to change the user agent to anything on my AT&T Tilt (Custel series v2.1 ROM). Not sure if it will work for everyone, but I'll put what I did here anyways. On the downside, it didn't help the problem I stayed up all night to figure out how to do it for. @[email protected] In conclusion, I have decided it might be a good idea to use the older version of Pocket Internet Explorer. If anyone has the PIE WM5 (Or earlier?) version standalone, please upload for me. I tried extracting it from my older PPC, but as I am very new to this I have no idea how to get a locked system file out of the windows directory (Keeps telling me the file cannot be copied.) As a sidenote, I'm not sure the WM5 PIE will run on WM6 but I'd like to try it anyways because I'm running out of ideas. x.x
Anyways, now that my request is done, on to the tutorial. There have been quite a few of these user agent changing tutorials all around the net, but none of them really worked straightout for me, so I made my own.
1. Open up HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies in a registry editor
2. Change 00001001 to the value 1, and 00001005 to the value 40
3. Reboot
4. Now, your standard WM6 user agent string should be unlocked and ready to edit. (HKLM\Security\Internet Explorer\User Agent\CustomBase) Just add whatever user agent you want in there and it will show up. I tested it with www.useragentstring.com, so it did indeed work. To revert back to standard user string, just blank the value.
Simple stuff, but it took me all night to get it right.
Cheers,
Vena.
Should this have been in the networking forum instead of the kaiser forum? I think I miscatagorized it. If a mod thinks I'm right about this, and wrong about where I originally put it just go ahead and move it. Sorry for the confusion.
This didn't work for me. I tried your registry settings (the first one was already set to 1), and when going to useragentstring.com, it still shows "Windows CE" and "IEMobile 7.6".
Are the registry values you quote above Binary or Hexadecimal?
Ack. You're right. I tried changing the user string again as a test, and (at least for me) all it did was add the custom string to the beginning. In short, it's sending both the default and custom user agent strings. Back to work, I guess. Must figure out what was different now from the first time I did it. x.x
Note: All those policy keys do are unlock the user agent key. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to change it no matter how hard you try. Those registry entries should be pretty easy to change. If the HKLM/Security/Internet Exporer/User Agent key shows up (If it's already visible, you don't really need to change the keys.), then you did it right. If it doesn't show up, I'll try and look over those keys again as I obviously did something wrong.

How to Make IE Default browser

Hi there
I need to make IE as a default browser in my HTC diamond. I have installed a medical software, that uses IE to display the data. At a moment, it runs Opera and unable to display the data correctly.
Please help. thanks
Yeah I have the same issue here. Need to get the IE as default browser. We developed a webbased tool at my work that just works with the Pocketpc IE browser. The Opera browser does not allow the files to be saved offline as we want.
Found several Registry changes online but non of them worked for me.
Maybe it works for you but if there is any other solution it would be more than welcome for me
Registry Path: HKCR\XXXX\DefaultIcon
Value: (Default)=browsres.dll,-6703
Registry Path: HKCR\XXXX\Shell\Open\Command
Value: (Default)=iexplore.exe %1
Remarks: "XXXX" can be "file" or "htmlfile".
Anyway, the first tweak is optional because it is only responsible for the file icon. The second tweak is the one that decides which application should open such file type.
Please check...
Registry Path: HKCR\YYYY
Value: (Default)=_htmlfile_Opera
Remarks: Where "YYYY" is any file extension, e.g. ".html", ".htm", etc. Change data value from "_htmlfile_Opera" to "htmlfile" in order to associate with the tweaks done earlier.

Try this:
HKLM
Software
Microsoft
Shell
Rai
DEFBROWSER
Change 0 value to Internet Explorer
Change 1 value to "\windows\iexplore.exe"
I tried this on an older device and it worked. Not tried it on the Diamond though so please let me know if it does the trick!
All above methods are failed.
I have tried through a different way.
The default file association of html / htm files is towards operaL.exe file. What I did, I changed it to \Windows\Iexplore.exe file:%1 using Advanced Configuration or Registry. This resulted in a strange behavior of Windows Mobile 6.1 which I termed as a "BUG". Although I havent touched the icon part yet, when I click on any htm / html file, it opens pocket IE instead of Opera by default. But to my surprise, IE fails to recognize that the file is html. It doesnt display anything. And, when I changed the associations back to OperaL.exe, all files are displayed as normal.
I wanted to know is this strange behavior of windows mobile Pocket IE a bug or something else? Please guide....
I have tested the same on Windows mobile 2003 (old version). Clicking on any html / htm results in opening of IE normally and perfectly.
Please comment?
IE will become the default browser if you will remove flag at "Set Opera as default browser" (find it in Opera's menu-tools-settings-Misc.) and, then, SOFT RESET. (Tested in Opera 8.6.5)
This will set IE as the default browser: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=419066

that option is not in the htc version of opera 9.5, you can only choose it to be default on a public bata version, instead of the htc one.

Can't set APN Type.

Hello to all.
With windows phone 8.1 you can't change the setting "APN type"( like default, supl ...).
I really need to change this setting. You know if you can somehow? (also by modifying the system registry).
I need to add the word "dun" at type APN. (default, supl, dun)
With windows phone 8.1 no longer works the application "access point". while with windows phone 8 was possible to change all the settings you want for the apn.
thanks for help.
