I think this does not work because TT is not a "certified" application.
I read somethink about it in the forums here...perhaps try the search...

How do i get gps working

Just wondering how i enable gps on a newley liberated rom - w/o installing a one of the custom roms with it embeded?
Thanks in adv
Kris
Please,
extract the GPS enabled ROM then copy the needed DLL's extract your rom put HTCGPS tool on it and recook your rom and flash it, i would expect there is no cab done with a one click install for liberated shift, also it would be ver less space to add iGO or such to the shift in a liberated rom.
cmonex did this stuff for the GPS enabld rom, if you have further questions try to ask her and PLEASE read & search the forum FIRST before you write noob questions to her.
Greets
how can i do this - i have extracted the rom but dont know what dlls to replace etc
thanks kris
Very interesting topic, but some inacurate in its name...
Neutron83, I do not undestand this steps too - very dreary, some cookings... Intricately!
I want to enable GPS on native liberated ROM - without reflashing it. Is it possible?
And what is the way to invite attantion ofcmonex to this topic?
cmonex did not provide gps to shift, I did.
I provided a cab for that. Only problem with the cab method is that you lose sound and you must run drivers manually after soft rest.
You cannot have gps and sound with this method, as an important file needs to be replaced for that, and only rom flashing can do this. Uninstalling the cab and soft reseting solves that.
BTW, flashing my rom is the same than liberating the snapvue, and adding gps drivers. Nothing is added or deleted (mostly)

Thanks. Navigation without sound is nonsense.

Where is this ROM? Is it English only?
english and french. Please do a search in this subforum for posts started by me.
You wrote (about NewYear) about LITE-rom, but I find French only. Is English avaiable?
Nope, but I might do one soon, when we have mic working as well as phone.
Is there a special version of the shift to use ?
Mine is french and i remember that not all shift have gps.
How can i verify my version ? and what version have gps functional ?
to verify your version, you can remove the battery and look near the sim card "clio***"
I think that all the shift are GPS'able.. but correct me if I'm wrong !
Mine is a clio110.
I will search in the forum for confirmation for the gps and post here if i find it.
Please tell me if you find before me.
Here is the post :

But it's not really clear about it...

That is also my understanding.
You just have to flash a rom that enables the gps receiver.

i have the same shift as yours and mine works... then yes.. you should have missed something or you don't know how to check if gps is working.
I'm using the rom of cmonex (1.29) and it's working perfect.... try to use the HTC GPS Tools to see if you get NMEA.

If i install a 6.5 rom can i revert back to 6.1 htc rom?

Just in case i dont like it or am i stuck with cooked roms thereafter?
Yes, Once installed HardSPL, you can put on any rom you wish,
This means, that you can flash Official Roms (Perhaps to change language) or Cooked Roms, As long HardSPL is on your device, you can reflash any Rom that is built for your device
Since HardSPL cannot be removed by flashing a rom (you can remove it with the removal utility) you don't have to worry about Official or Cooked roms ;-)
Hey!
Thanks for such an informative and quick reply!
I'm just thinking about my warranty etc and also whats the best 6.5 to try whilst i have your help?
Does Dutty not do Tpaz roms?
Cheers

W.r.t warranty, if you ever have to send your phone in for repair under warranty, be sure to remove hard SPL with the removal tool first
Thanks mate, whats the 6.5 rom you are running like? is it fast? any benefits?

Dutty does not work on the Topaz (yet? xD)
I still use a highly (self) customized stock rom,
If you want to use a 6.5 rom I'd recommend Tom's or udK's roms.
And indeed, if you ever need to return your phone, Try to flash a stock rom & remove HardSPL from your device, and you should be ok ;-)

I am running Tom Codons' latest 6.5 ROM - Biggest benefit to me is that windows media player appears to have more video codecs than before - I can now play vids that would not play on 6.1.
Toms ROM is genreally fast and bug free and he includes a registry editor for your convenience!
Ok great thanks guys!
As HTC dont supply a stock rom are the original rooms on the wiki mirror the same?

The ROM's which names start with RUU... are official ROM's from HTC. The question is if you find the original ROM that is on your TOPAZ right now.
If it is not listed yet, you might not be able to get back to your original status once u flashed a cooked ROM.
A possibility is to dump your original ROM and try to create the files for reflashing it. I never tried by myself, but I see in the threads of "TOPAZ ROM development" that it is not that easy.
At the end it's your decision to accept the risk.
Great thanks!
Well im flashing with Toms 6.5 rom and yeah i have hardspled
Cheers guys!
oh and i have a tomtom 7 version, what sat nav you all preferring? need to get an 'extended' version ideally to play with
I had some voice problems with tomtom, So I use iGo8
what did that cost ya?
Not that much *rolling eye's*
Although tomtom is fine with the fix...
Go with Garmin GMXT just google for the K*y Gen and procedures.
Looks like garmin dont like built in gps? at least not what i tried!

I use Garmin XT - it works flawlessly and I'm very happy with it.
I was previously using Tomtom but had the voice command cut-off problem and the fix available here didn't fix it.
@ Garmin XT users,
I don't know that particular GPS software,
And have 2 questions about it,
1) Does it have Dutch voices?
2) Does it have a Belgium only map?
If you could answer these questions I would be very happy,
Cause iGo8 isn't the best there is either

Yes, the Netherlands is listed in the voice options. I don't think a Belgium only map is available. I have the Europe map with mine.
aww, thats sad, I only use a Belgian map, So I don't need all the others...
Well I'll look into it ;-)
Thanks for your reply!
*edit* It seems like they have Benelux maps... Which is Belgium Netherlands Luxembourg
Lets fire up that search engine x)

Hi, there no problem to change. Remove default navigation program (it's very bad that it's imposible remove via program removal... you need to delete it via delete menu) and install your TomTom or other. I'm using iGO 8, very good user interface and new maps.
All Europe here.
