I have been using Mail2web push mail service for the last few months it worked smoothly. But since the last few days its really a mess, doesn't sync if it does then only partially, then the server is down. Really a big mess. Does anyone know of any better alternative service/option for free Push mail? Thanks in advance.
I have the same problem here. It doesn't sync for a while and then all of a sudden it syncs and receives like 30 emails at once (which I already have read offcourse...)
Anyone a better alternative?

itsolutionsnow.com is what i use
exchange 2007, good service and ulimited storage for $10 a month
because it is exchange 2007 it does all the cool stuff with wm6: flagging, server search, html email
Sounds nice, but I'm not paying $10/mo for it. I have tried contacting M2W support about the performance issues the last several days. Hopefully they've got a darned good explanation for it. Their performance has been unacceptable for even a free service, much less one I'm actually paying good money for.
Honestly, If I could scrounge up a few hundred $$$, I would just build another computer system and slap Windows Server 2003 and Exchange 2007 on there and just run my own server and be done with it. I might even offer a few free accounts for you guys. I've been wanting to set up one anyways to centralize my media storage on my network. Unfortunately, I have other priorities that have to come first right now (darned, pesky mortgage and truck payments!).
I have in the meantime switched to port88.org provided services. Very satisfied, as of now. Phew m2w was frustrating, eventually they even stopped replying to my mails.

I've upgraded to the latest ROM version and tried to get set up with blackberry, but I can't as I'm on a o2 online tariff unless I change to a normal o2 tariff. I'm in discussions about this at the moment, but that is not the problem as such.
The problem is that because I've installed the BB ROM version but not activated it, when I sync to my PC I get all the options (email, contacts, etc, etc) but NOT the CALENDAR! The option is now greyed out as it expects you to use BB to sync the calendar! I only noticed the problem of not syncing the calendar last night when I created a new appointment on my PC but it didn't copy to my PDA. Everything else works fine.
I've tried both 3.8 and 3.7.1 activesync and soft reset the PDA loads of times to no avail. If you also have the problem there isn't much more you can do without reverting the ROM.
I've spoken to o2 the support and they were only made aware of the bug this morning and expect to have a new ROM in the next few weeks and are advising people in the same boat to wait rather than trying to downgrade to the previous ROM version
The old Online Thing
Well I took the online thing to the top and they are now moving me to a normal Tarriff adn giving me 3 months free blackberry, and they are now looking into why the Online Billing system wasn't updated to allow blackberry as an add on.
My trick was to look at mmO2.com take a list of the top names, then [email protected] and CC them / web care / data team / [email protected] Within in 3 hours I had a call from the Customer Care Exec and things where rolling.
Should be sorted by tomorrrow morning I hope, I wonder if they will be putting blackberry on the XDA EXEC? If they do I had a look in the O2 shop today and it does look shhwwwweeeettttt.

Cool - can you email me the details and I'll have a go at them as well. I'm a bit annoyed to say the least as I bought this instead of a blackberry as they said it would be enabled for blackberry shortly, they forgot to mention there would be a restriction on they tariff!
Once the upgrade is complete I will give you the Customer Exec Number and they will be able to help you.
Its taken best part of a day for the transfer waiting for the GPRS TO come online now so I'd rather wait till I ahve BB working fully
Also I noticed they took off the Inernet Mail PDF from the MY-XDA Website as well because of all of this.

Glad you managed to get it working - I'll give o2 a call again and get my tariff moved. Did they put any restrictions on minimum tariff?
cheers....
going back to my original problem - are you managing to sync your calendar?
The Calendar Sync over BB works as well very nice

Blackberry costs
Hi
Does anyone who was on a normal voice plan and has added blackberry know how much it costs to do so?
thanks
Dan
ps. the calendar synchronizes fine with exhange server (without blackberry)... so must be an issue with the local pc...
Ok I think I may have made a mistake by registering for www.o2email.co.uk and now I can't get my BES to work with the handset?
Any Ideas?
Cheers

Now had BB authorised after having to switch to a 'High St' tariff from an 'online tariff'.
The cost is a standing charge of £15 per month on top of my normal monthly tariff for a limited amount of data per month. If you go over you data amount, additional charges are made per Mb. Have to see what my monthly charges are going to be like when the bill arrives.
When you get BB authorised, you set up your email details via a web page - you can also put in filters to stop spam from being forwarded to your XDA although they will still go to your normal email client on your PC.
Now have the calendar sync'ing to my PC with BB enabled. There is a bug with the o2 ROM version which disables the calendar when you install the BB software (not when you flash this ROM version).
I was sent a work around while a new ROM is being written. The only problem is if you soft reset the XDA, you have to follow the work around to re-enable the calendar sync again.
Here is my situation: I have a Tilt & a Work Blackberry.
My company won't allow me to push my work email the Tilt so I'm forced to carry both... I want to get rid of the Blackberry.
What, in the community's opinion is the best way to do that? I'd be making an end run around security, so this is academic in nature. XPressMail? Just auto-forward my mail? Something else?
Just looking for inputs, thank you!
Do you have Exchange at work?
Is webmail enabled?
If so, just try to point the tilt to the same URL, and it will probably work.

The tilt is capable running BlackBerry Connect so that you can connect to BES servers and get your push email on. You should check into that and chuck that BB to the side.
BlackBerry Connect
Use BlackBerry Connect on the Tilt and change your BlackBerry PIN to the the Tilt BlackBerry PIN. I think there are threads on xda addressing this.
yes, there are threads showing you that BBC will work on the Tilt.
I am in the exact same situation. I tried BBC, but it burns thru battery on my Kaiser, way too quickly, even if throttled only to Edge. It also made my Kaiser much slower
So, I use Seven push email software's beta version. I have a long post on one of the BBC threads explaining Seven's benefits. I love it. It does require me to have my work PC connected to the network at all times though. But it works quite well. Its much more stable than Cingular's XpressMail is (Xpress Mail is using the old Seven software). And it doesn't use SMS triggers. It's true push.
Search for "Blackberry Connect" and "Seven" on this forum for the threads in question.
Can you forward your email from your outlook on your desk to a pop mail account your tilt checks every 15 minutes?

That's a guaranteed smackdown from IT if discovered at most companies. Many of us are stuck with Blackberry for this reason.
(Or in my case, None since my company will not permit personally owned Blackberry devices.)
Hi all,
first of all big thanks to all the guys on here, my MDA is nearly how i would like it to be using some of the information from here, great work and keep it up, donations sent to those deserving!
I am using the latest version of windows live mail (10.6.33.0600 thanks duttythroy!) but not matter how i put the settings (currently as items arrive and alway) email tends to have a mind of its own as to wether it is forward automatically or not. seams to work for a while they just stop forwarding, anyone else had/having/resolved these probelsm?? Access is via tmobile web'n'walk unlimited access.
cheers

yup works every now n then for me too
Yep... Me too
Also having Hotmail and Windows Live problems. So much so that I am seriously considering downgrading to the new BlackBerry, just to be able to stay online and keep my emails and MSN chats available.
Anyone know how to rectify this problem before I go the route of BlackBerry???
PS. I received a email from my mate saying that Yahoo has some or other version of push mail available, if that helps. Got the link somewhere, aint tried it yet as it dont help me with my current email accounts.
I'm probably headed down the same route. One of the primary reasons I decided on the Vario III was for email capabilities and viewing Excel files at work but so far it's been nothing but a disappointment.
Syncing constantly fails. Sometimes my inbox comes back with nothing in it. I haven't managed to download a single attachment successfully, pdf, xls or doc. This is ridiculous.
Microsoft Push Email
I phoned my service provider as my Vario ii came with BlackBerry connect software, but I never bothered with it until I got the Vario iii and started having all these problems. Long story short, they say you cant use the BB software or service unless its with a BB. BUT... they said something about Microsoft Push Email... Which I am on the phone to them now to find out about, but the TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT WONT PICK UP THE PHONE!!!!!!!!!!
Update: There is nothing that these ppl can do to get me what I want, so... What I ended up doing, and its costing me a few quid a month, which is worth it, is set up a NEW PUSH ACCOUNT with my website. So far, it seems to be working.
But, I am also told, for you Hotmail users, that if you upgrade to Hotmail PLUS, that it might also support the push option. Not sure yet, going to try find out now. If you are like me that lives for email on the go, (well, only recently that is) then it might be worth spending the extra cash. Will be in touch to let you know what else I find out...
No good news to report
Ok guys... I tried almost everything. I dunno if its the Windows Live Software or the T-Mobile Internet Connection, but even after I signed up for a PUSH EMAIL from my website hosting provider, I still get SYNC ERRORS or SENDING MESSAGE ERRORS, so Im putting it down to one of 2 things... A consistant connectivity problem with either the Vario 3 or with the Service Provider, in my case T-mobile.
Which makes my next statement rather contradictory. I am getting rid of the Vario 3 and replacing it with the new BlackBerry Curve 8300, but sticking with my T-Mobile contract (kinda because I still have a year left on it) I will also be upgrading my current contract to provide me with the BlackBerry Service, which pushes up my monthly tariff but, saves me from Burst Blood vessels and anurisms in the brain, when the emails wont send or retrieve.
I weighed up the pro's and con's of the BB and the Vario3. Sure the Vario3 has more features and the touch screen and so on, but the BB doesn't have a sliding keyboard which could potentially wear out (Like on my Vario 2 from constant use) Its thinner than the Vario3 and way lighter.
This is not a product review, I guess, so if anyone out there knows why I shouldn't make the swap, please let me know asap before I go ahead and do it.
Take in to consideration that reliable email service and connection is mostly what I am after.
Good News... sort of
My email has been holding sold for a few days, since my last post. That is with the PUSH EMAIL I set up from my website.
The other thing that I thought was rather interesting, was that I removed Windows Live and Messenger from the SETTINGS, SYSTEM, REMOVE PROGRAMS. But... Its still on my Vario iii even though it shows that it was removed and... I have yet to have a SYNC FAILURE message. It seems to be working brilliantly.
So, in conclusion, decided to keep the Vario iii especially since doing some surfing and finding some awesome accessories aswell as Games like Quake and Duke Nukem to play on it.
Have fun and good luck.
hotmail - vario 3 - pop3 imap help!!!
I am also tearing my hair apart with my vario 3 trying to get my email. I have hotmail plus surely that should do the trick....
has anyone bottomed out what the problem is? Could be of interest but my work TMob account (uk) synced fine to hotmail/push email up until the other day.
my boss emailed me the other day saying that he'd just opened his bill and found that my months access charges was £800 as web and walk wasnt enabled on the account. which it is now.
so, in summery my hotmail syncing was fine when i wasnt on web and walk. but it 90% fails to connect now its on web and walk. (not tried pop/imap yet though, just push/normail windows live setup.
I'm considering switching from my Blackberry 8700 to a Kaiser. (T-Mobile MDA vario III).
I'd welcome any information on the stability of the unit? My last windows mobile about 3 years ago, XDA ii, was awful, crashing and locking up.
How far have things come? How often can I expect crashes if I just use the inbuilt apps?
Many thanks
D
I also moved from Blackberry Pearl. Kaiser and WM6 is very stable. No lockups, programs work as expected. For ATT, I just transferred the sim from the Pearl and made some changes to the contract.

Thanks,
I've been reading the battery life is not too good?
Also do you use Exchange push email? How much drain does that put on the battery? It seems negligible with the Blackberry.
I'm frustrated by the lack of features on the BB, ie no 3g, camera or wifi.
D
The battery life is indeed not as good as the BB. I do use Exchange Push html email, works perfectly, you can see all attachments much better than the BB. I installed an extened battery (2700 mAh, you can get it from many sources) and I run Bluetooth, Exchange mail (push) and several phones and web searches all day. I recharge at night. The battery is the weakest part of all WM6 devices in my opinion. It is compensated however by the richness of features, the email attachment issues, etc. I also love the GPS on this phnoe. I installed TomTom and I use it in any car I rent and it works flawlessly.

Hi,
I am using exchange email via Visto PushEmail solution on my kaiser and battery life hasn't been of any issues. Emails viewing, office attachment viewing has never been so much easier on Kaiser, not to mention, typing of email as well.
My push email application integrates itself onto the system, so my contacts, task and calendar are sync directly to my kaiser, doesn't require me to do any wired syncing to outlook. it is on 24hrs a day, battery consumption is negligible to me. I have not use an BB device before, but if compare with Nokia E61i, the battery life is definitely alot better and also lots of application available to enhance your experience.
anyway, if you guys are interested in this Visto Solution, try www.visto.com
if interested in a test account, let me know, i know someone from the company who can help us. just want to say that i am a frequent handset changer, so this is one application which I must say, I have never regretted installing ... definitely better than BB Connect.

What is this Visto service ? It's not clear on their website.
Do they purpose a pushmail application or a pushmail account on their server ?
I would be very interested to sync my Calendar/notes/ etc with my company account through 3G connection, I tried many VPN softwares but none worked.
I could access my emails/calendar infos via a microsoft exchange server using a web browser but I could not sync it.
Any working solution would be appreciated ...
Hey all,
As I was browsing the forums, I happened to come across THIS thread and immediately felt like . I have been using M2W for quite a while now and was quite pleased with it's Push E-mail capabilities; alas, this is no longer an option. As such, I am looking into other options that would allow me similiar (if not same) capabilities as M2W.
Therefore, I have a few questions that I hope members with experience in the field can assist me with:
SEVEN:
1) Is SEVEN beta a free service?
2) Does SEVEN push as well as (or better than) M2W?
3) Does it create a new e-mail address (i.e. [email protected] or something) or does it push an existing address (i.e. comcast, hotmail, gmail...)?
4) How is the battery drain on the TP when using SEVEN vs. using M2W?
5) What server address, if any, do I need to put into my TP to get SEVEN to push e-mail (i.e. mobile.exchange.mail2web.com for M2W)?
HOTMAIL:
1) Does Hotmail push e-mail by itself, or does it need to be paired up with something else?
2) If it does push, what is the server address I need to put into my TP (i.e. mobile.exchange.mail2web.com for M2W)?
OTHER:
1) Are either of these services "Outlook" services that sync with ActiveSync (once again, like M2W)? I ask this only because I know it works with my TP "flawlessly".
2) If not, then what else do you folks recommend?
Lastly, I wasn't sure if this belonged in the TP forum. If it does not, I apologize in advance and hope a moderator will move it where it belongs.
Thank you all for your time.
WildAce786,
I'll take the "Other" section, Number 2.
I've used Mail2Web before. It was what I first used when I wanted to test true exchange. I loved it. I liked having email pushed straight down to me. I use two devices (two lines with data) and wanted my contacts, email, etc., all pushes quickly and quietly without the need of the cables I have at home. Mail2Web showed me that it was possible. Unfortunately, M2W didn't have HTML. It didn't allow me to use my own e-mail name (As I do now). And, most importantly, I hated not being able to use my local Outlook Client to connect.
Of course, things may have changed since I used them. However, it made me start looking for my own source. I looked at various places, read some reviews, etc., but came to the decision that some of those companies weren't worth the trouble.
Based on my research, 1And1 (a well known internet host, providing services in the US as well as in Germany) has some serious issues with the QoS (Quality of Service). At that time, they were having major outages, losing data, etc. While their rate plan was $6.95, the reliability that comes with that wasn't worth the trouble.
There were two other companies that came into my google searches. Both were very similar, with 1GB of data and $1.00 difference per month. While I was thinking over various things, I decided to go with SherWeb. I figured that SherWeb had the ability for me to use a 100mb SharePoint site (which I've played with twice..no more), 3GB (I think?) of storage for my Exchange Account, and some of the best customer service I've ever had. Over the past.. wow.. year or so, I think? Maybe closer to 8 months.. who knows.. I've had very little in the way of issues. Any maintenance is scheduled and we're made aware of it at least a week in advance.
Overall, I've been very happy with my choice. I currently have two PDA Phones (The Touch Pro / Fuze and the Kaiser / Tytn II / Tilt) actively syncing using my SherWeb Exchange Account. Additionally, I sync with my laptop as well as my desktop. And, if the day ever comes for me to be so bored as to try to set up another client, which I'm sure I will, it'll no doubt work just as smoothly.
Now, back to "SEVEN". From what I've seen, and I haven't done much in the way of reading, SEVEN looks like another Emoze. I did use Emoze at one time, it worked decent, but it couldn't sync two devices simultaniously. That was one of my contributing factors. Battery life on my Tilt with Emoze was extremely good, until the client errored and had some sync issues. A quick message to the developers told me that I had a corrupted db on Emoze and a small file and re-sync would resolve it. Course, after three days with my battery dying for no reason, I was kinda freaking out.. Glad I noticed that, too...
Bah, I'm getting on a rant now.. If theres anything else I can try to help you with, just let me know.
