วิธีการอัพรอม PDAMobiz Customized ROM
1. download file ด้านบน แล้วใช้ winrar (www.rarlab.com) แตกไฟล์ลง directory ใดๆ ที่ PC เพราะโปรแกรมอัพรอมตัวนี้นี้รันที่ PC เท่านั้นครับ
2. backup ข้อมูลเดิมๆ ของท่านลง sd card โดยใช้ spb backup ก็ได้ครับ ตัวทดลอง สามารถ backup ได้อย่างดี เอาไว้สำหรับต้องการกลับเป็นรอมเดิมสภาพเดิมครับ (แต่ห้ามเอามา restore กลับที่รอมใหม่นะครับ ให้ใช้ active sync ทำการ sync คืนเท่านั้นครับ)
3. ถ้าเครื่องอัพรอมเป็นรุ่น AKU1.0 หรือตั้งแต่ AKU2.3 ขึ้นไป ให้ทำการอัพรอมเป็นตัว Official ของ T-Mobile ก่อน เพื่อที่จะได้เขียน ext.rom ได้ ไปเอารอม official ได้จากข้อ 2. ของไฟล์ Download
ตัวอย่างการดู AKU
การดู AKU ให้ดูที่ Settings > System > About ดูหลังตัวที่ Build 15671.3.3.0 จะเห็นว่าตัวที่ทำหนาไว้ก็คือตัว AKU ครับ ถ้าไม่มั่นใจก็อัพเป็น T-Mobile Official ก็ได้ครับ
4. clear storage หรือกดสองปุ่มด้านซ้ายพร้อมกันค้างไว้ แล้วจิ้ม reset จากนั้นก็กดปุ่มโทรออกเมื่อมีข้อความสีขาวขึ้นมา
5. ค้างที่หน้าจอแรก จัดการเสียบ usb ที่ PC และ PPC เพื่อทำการ active sync เมื่อมี หน้าต่าง Popup ของ ActiveSync ขึ้นมา ที่ PC ให้กด cancel เพื่อ sync แบบ guest เท่านั้น
6. จากนั้นไปรันไฟล์ UPGRADE_ROM.bat (อ่านขั้นตอนการอัพจากที่นี่เพิ่มเติมได้ มีรูปภาพประกอบ http://www.pdamobiz.com/show_news.asp?NewsID=68863 ไม่ต้อง download รอมนะ)
7. แล้วก็นั่งรอประมาณไม่เกิน 15 นาที เมื่อมีข้อความที่เสร็จแล้ว ให้ไปกด hard reset อีกหนึ่งครั้ง เป็นอันว่าเสร็จสิ้นกระบวนการอัพรอม
(สำหรับท่านที่เคยทราบว่าวิธีการ Backup Contact / Task / Calendar โดยการ copy \pim.vol ตัวเดิมเก็บไว้ แล้ว copy กลับมาหลังการอัพรอม กรณีอัพรอมข้าม Version นั้น ห้าม copy pim.vol ของ version เดิมมาลงทับเด็ดขาดนะครับ เพราะใช้ไม่ได้เครื่องจะ Hang จะต้อง hard reset อีกครั้ง)
หลังจากอัพเสร็จแล้วหน้าจอแรกจะ้เป็นสีน้ำเงินเข้มซึ่งเป็นเหมือนกับ Dopod818Pro ที่คุณรุทำมาเวอร์ขั่นล่าสุด
หน้าจอ Today ที่ Tray จะมี Battery และ ปรับจอ
เข้าไปดูที่ Message จะเห็นว่า AKU 3.3 ตัวนี้สามารถอ่าน และเก็บ Message ลงซิมได้แล้ว สะดวกเวลาต้องการเปลี่ยนเครื่องแล้ว Message จะได้ตามซิมไปด้วย
AKU3.3 ตัวนี้มี MMS มาให้ด้วย ทดลองส่งดู ถ้าไม่ได้ก็เข้าไปแก้ค่าอีกนิดหน่อย มีกระทู้แนะนำเรื่องนี้ไว้แล้ว ว่าของแต่ละค่ายมีค่าอย่างไรกัน
หน้าจอโปรแกรมจะเห็นว่า Icons แปลกตาไปบางนั้นก็เอามาจาก Crossbow
รอมนี้ผมเอา BTAudioToggle ออกมาวางไว้เลยเพราะมีเสียงเรียกร้องว่าเอามาวางไว้เถอะครับพี่ชาญ

ผมแนะนำให้ Uncheck Set on wakeup ออกก่อน แล้วทดลองเพิ่มความเร็ว ไม่งั้นเขาว่าอาจต้อง Hard reset อีกรอบครับ
เครื่อง Charmer ที่ผมจับมาทั้งหมดสามารถอัพได้ถึง 299 MHz ได้ทุกตัว แต่ผมไม่แนะนำให้ใช้งานในความเร็วนี้ เพราะอาจทำให้มีปัญหาที่ไม่คาดคิดได้ ลดลงมาอีกสัก 2 Steps ก็น่าจะสบายใจและปลอดภัยกว่า
สรุปแล้วการอัพรอมครั้้งนี้ทำให้ T-Mobile MDA Compact II มีความน่าใช้ขึ้นมาทันที แต่ว่าก็ัยังมีปัญหาเรื่อง Irda เพราะจะไม่สามารถใช้งานได้ และอีกอย่างไฟชาร์ทขึ้นช้าและการชาร์ทแนะนำให้เปิดเครื่องก่อนแล้วค่อยเสียบชาร์ท และการชาร์ทด้วย Sync-Charge สามารถทำได้ แต่ถ้าชาร์ทไม่เข้าให้กด Soft Reset หนึ่งครั้งครับ
ถ้าใช้แล้วมีปัญหาใดๆ เพิ่มเติม รบกวนช่วยโพสลงในกระทู้นี้เพื่อรวบรวมปัญหาการใช้งานด้วยครับ

of course you have to follow common procedures for upgrading like charge battery, rapi unlock ect...use eg. awizard if you donť want to do it manualy

well, i have my phone allways cid unlocked.
i was trying this rom few weeks ago - except of missing some essential settings like regional settings for czech republic, this rom has no functional problems.
unfortunately it is filled by aditional software integrated directly into OS image, but you may find it usefull. I hate roms filled with junk, so I decided not to use it. Otherwise, speed and stability seemed to be really excellent
So how can I cid unlock my charmer? I have a v2 bootloader and therefore no cid unlock tool will work... How can I downgrade to v1?
I have IPL 1.xx and SPL 3.xxx now.
in fact, i have never seen cid locked charmer. i have 2.06 versions of ipl & spl (flashed from latest czech tmobile firmware) and have no problems regarding carrier ID lock

you can google that question. AKU 3.3 is still WM5, but with some improvements. WM6 is WM6, period.

Seems to have appeared as the FINAL offical release from t-mobile for uk users.

Hi All,
Wanted to feedback my impressions of the new 1.42 T-Mobile UK Spec Rom..
Well, it's been interesting.. I now have (or have had) most of the faults that everyone else is experiencing.. I never used to get them at all with the i-mate 1.40 Rom or the NL 1.42 T-Mobile Rom.. I have listed the bugs below..
1 - One Hard-reset when inserted into GPS Car holder
2 - Several occasions where I've "lost" the Storage Card (when serching for it on the device AND through Active Sync)
3 - Interesting situation where I've started TomTom5 and I've suddenly had to go through the set-up process again only to be told that there's no maps (Can only attribute this to an occasion where the Storage Card is not seen by the PPC - See above).. Solved by remove Programs, soft-reset then re-install off SD Card.. (quite annoying as I was lost at the time!)
4 - Occasional failure for BT Headset being recognised on an in-coming call (I use the Logi-Tech Pro).. Solved by Soft-reset..
5 - Sometimes, after soft-reset, get a low performance from the Device.. ie, after soft-reset and switching to phone where it takes a few seconds to "build" the phone screen..
Strange but as I mentioned above, I don't recall getting these bugs on the 1.42 NL Rom or the i-mate 1.40 Rom.. I might try a hard re-set on Monday then re-install my tomTom, etc to see if it carries on.. If it does, I MIGHT switch back to the either :shock:
That's it really.. I have had the early T-Mobile 1.06, the i-mate 1.40, T-Mobile NL 1.42 and T-Mobile GB 1.42 and finally the WM5 Roms and from what I've seen, I place them in this order of preference..
1 - i-Mate 1.40
2 - T-Mobile NL 1.42
3 - T-Mobile GB 1.42
4 - WM5
5 - T-Mobile GB 1.06

The Rom is exactly the same and the only difference is the changes in the extROM that makes it either UK or NL Spec (ie, MMS settings, etc)

How can I upgrade to a stable rom

Upgraded to this from the last O2 update (my BA is an O2 Xda IIs), and while for the most part it works fine, now if the device turns the screen off for power-save while out and about, the GPRS connection drops. I know the hardware is capable of keeping the GPRS connection alive in such a situation because, well, it didn't drop it under the previous two O2 ROMs I ran.
Anyone else had this problem, or know a fix? Hopefully it's something simple that I've overlooked...
I'm getting better Bluetooth support with this (whether through actual improvements in the stack or through sheer dumb luck), so I'd prefer not to downgrade if I can avoid it.
Upgrade for NON OEM/Carrier Blue Angel
I have an unlocked OEM i-mate PDA2K. Because of this I am unable to install the T-Mobile upgrade to 1.42.
Is there a way to get around this?
I tried using the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe, but I was unsuccessful.
Any ideas on how to upgrade a non-T-mobile branded blue angel?

Did you make sure you had the MAUpdate file in the same directory as the actual upgrade had been uncompressed into? Since it's missing the RUU.DLL file that is part of that package.
Basically, get the files out of the real upgrade, then copy the MAUpdate into that directory, then run it instead.

When I double click on the file, it runs the file, when you right-click and select extract, it gives you an error.

got to say it runs really well on the device... but the question is... is this the most up to date and/or best rom for the device...

i think so yes. i'm using it on a k-jam and is very happy with it, for mainly 3 reasons:
- All activesync problems vanished
- Battery life is noticeably longer
- It seems a lot faster
. It seems more stable (fewer soft resets and no hard resets since it came out)

Here is what I did today.....
You need to download lokiwiz and the ROM from these forums...... do a search and you will find the quick quickly.....
#unlock phone
with no SIM card in phone
copy EnableRapi.cab to phone
run EnableRapi.cab from phone
run lokiwiz.bat from PC
select option 'U' Unlock SIM
phone reboots
add SIM to backout bin file names on PC
run lokiwiz.bat from PC
select option 'C' unlock CID
phone reboots
add CID to backout bin file names on PC
#install new ROM
uncomress ROM file from zip
click ROM install file
follow instruction
takes 10 minutes
phone reboots
i think there is a simple way to do it ....
just download awizard from this site
enable rapi and cid and that;s all
start upgradte your rom

no change between the 2.17 and 2.21
i upgraded my 8125 cinguler to the new 2..21 dopod i didnt install the extened rom because i running tmobile on mine its faster clean no headeach or reset so far slow on boot up maybe 60 to 65 second on boot up other than that i really didnt find any defference betwen the 2 rom if u happy with 2.17 theres no reson to upgrade

Nope.. it's the same as 2.17 as far as core OS and radio goes. Only difference I see is the customizations.
I don't expect we'll see a different core OS in a ROM until/unless MS releases an AKU 3 or some other packaged-up set of bugfixes.
Most carriers are super reluctant to release ROM upgrades because of the risks of increased support costs for Upgrades Gone Wild(tm). (meaning bad flashes, bricked devices etc)
Just flash it today from 217 to 221. I can feel my 8125 can get better camera quality, and connect to the WIFI faster than b4 after upgrade it. Everything else are the same.
Well radio rom version seems to be different 2.19?

i don't know why, but i seem to be having problems connecting to the internet through either wifi or ActiveSync. Pocket IE returns blank pages for any page i access. Is anyone having the same problem with this ROM?

If I upgrade my rom, will the slide-keyborad changes from QWERTZ to QWERTY? (Letter Z changes to Y?)

Thanks for the help. I've upgarded my Wizard with Summiter's rom, but my WiFi couldn't get work. so I'll try the iMate ROM ASAP.
Other questions about phone:
When I get it out of the box, it has a T-mobile ROM on it, and it has the ability to dispaly cell information.( about which town you are in), now my new ROM hasn't got this feature. Was it a Cab customization, or just an option in the WM5.0?

Also you can get cell info from gsmtestmode.exe in \windows on the device and make a link to it.
I want to upgrade to latest ROM and whatnot.... Im confused what file to download. Important everything works faster and better and bluetooth headset. Its running stock Cingular from day that I bought it... right when it became for sale.... please let me know what to download and install... latest most stable ROM and everything else thats required.....

Great GSM reception and recovery, it loads super fast, the functions are also smooth and fast, WiFi is perfect...lightning fast!!!!

How different from the cingular same version one?

here are the differences
It doesn't have any of the Cingular logos, settings or anything that is pre-programmed. You have to put in your own settins, and there aren't any annoying settins such as MediaNet which launches when you try to connect via WiFi to the internet, and you know they charge you money for any kb transferred.
It's easy to create your own GPRS connections without any settings already there, and you have a cleaner running OS in the device.
I simply love it and recommend it. 8)

I'm in the same boat as HDD, I have the following specs
8125
ipl : 1.08
spl : 1.08
gsm : 01.16.11
os : 1.8.11.1
currently sim unlocked by lokiwiz0.3 and I about to CID-unlock with lokiwiz 0.2b. The question i have now is if I put in Mr. Clean 2.24a will I be able to go back to a Cingular ROM? or If i put in say Cingular's latest rom, or Tmobile's 2.26 will I be able to go back factory state.
From my searches, anything >= 2.21 roms will not be able to CID unlocked, so still wondering if I should upgrade....
