Hello i have a big Problem with the bootloader of my Charmer. After flashin a new rom the Charmer can`t start. I tried to reflash my old rom but i can`t even enter bootloader. It is interessting that i only can start the bootloader when my Charmer ist connected with the charger. So what can i do ?

I've just bought a HTC Charmer (T-mobile MDA Compact2). As I was looking for a french rom, I've read that the charmer was nearly the same (or exactly ?) pda as the Wizard. So As I've found a french rom for wizard, I tried to flash the charmer with it, thinking that if it was not good, it would reject the rom... Or, the flashing process has gone well till the 100% but now, the phone does not even want to light on.... :shock:
Do you think there's something possible to do ?? :?:

What symptoms do you have exactly? No led, no backlight, no text on the screen, no charging? What happens if you try to enter the bootloader?

In fact, after the flashing process, the phone switch off, and now, I cannot switch it on, if I put the usb cable, the pc does not detect anything, but the led ...
I let the beginnning but finally it starts !!!!
Yesterday, I disconnected the battery so as the secure one discharge also, and a few minutes ago, I put it on the 220V without hope and the led lighted ! and no it starts, but in German .. (I do not really understand this..)
So do you think that I should retry the french wizard rom ? Or this try cannot work ?
If this is the case, does someone know where I could find the English Charmer Rom (I do not find the T-mobile download page anymore) or better a french one

Well, i think that for you it's better to flash your device with a charmer ROM. On the ftp there is only a english ROM, not french.
No in fact it works again, but it's still in german ...
Could you please give me the link of the french rom ? I cannot find it...

So the phone works, in german, but there's someting really strange.. if I try to put it in bootlaoder mode, it's impossible, it switch off but do not swith on after, and not at all in fact, I have to get off the battery or put it on the charger so that it starts again...
And with the charger, after the boot, I can restart in bootloader mode, but at the second I unplug the charger, the phone switch off and it's not possible to restart witout the charger.....
Do you have an idea of what's happening ?? And how I could flash with an english rom ?? (doesn't work with the cradle USB cable..)

I think that the best thing to do is to flash the ROM with the WWE or German, as you like, you will find the ROMs on the Charmer section of the FTP.
Put your device in bootloader mode with the usb connected, then upgrade the ROM.
Indeed that would be the best solution but with the usb cable, it doesn't stay in bootloader mode, it switch off immediately ...

I have a Imate K-jam with K-JAM_WWE_216901_2169101_020710_ship rom and I have try to downgrade with the rom K-JAM_Italian_1030902_102_ship and the file newromupdateutility_wizard_noid.exe but now the device is dead.
After upgrading the device was resetted and now the screen is black. I have try reset, hard reset and to enter in the bootloader but nothing appened.
Someone can help me, please?

I dont know much, but i think its that you tried to downgrade withe a wizard that dosent support downgradeing. i.e spl/ipl ending with .001 i will just say try and get a replacement.
This is exactly why there are so many replies to newbies saying "Read, Read, Read and then read some more".
I'd agree with the theory that your device was a G4 chip (which should never be flashed with a 1.x Rom).
If he can get the boot loader then he can flash the previous rom back :wink:

The problem is that I can't enter in BootLoader mode. I try with camera+reset and camera+voice+reset but the screen is always black.
Can't you return it to Imate with a story that the battery was empty, you wanted to charge it, but it stay dead?

I got the same problem after upgrade my MDA Vario(T-mobile NL) by using RUU_Prodigy_2170702_217_20710_TMO_US.exe from the ftp.
It looks like no power at all. Anyone knows how to solve this?

I tried to flash my Charmer with the new german Aku 3.3. At first everything seems to be ok, but at 95% it stops and i got the Message: update error- there is an comunication problem! So what can i do? I tried to flash the old rom back but there comes also at 95% a message: invalid command - nfb file cannot be used for your pda!
Please help me !

Go to bootloader mode, then try to flash RUU rom (1.x). You can find it on Charmer wiki.
It doesn`t work too, it always stops at 95% has anyone another idea?

I have also the same problem. Tried to upgrade to version 3.3. Everytime it stops at 80%. I don't know why?! I can repair it with the software and re-run it. But it has the same effect.
Now i will try to downgrade to 2.6 again. I really don't understand what causes the problem. I hope i will get this thing running again....
EDIT: I reflashed the device with the older 2.6 ROM and it is working right now. However I didn't really get why it gets stuck at 80% with 3.3 ?!?!

The aku3.3 is up to date the bootloader version!!!
IPL and ISP version now is 3.00.

I can´t downgrade to AKU 2: Please order a newer Version.
Every try to upgrade to AKU 3.3 failed at 95% with Error 326.
Is there any help for my charmer???

I got the same problem with them and my first pda uk rom already empty screen and then i try with my scrond pda German rom it the same problem and now just only show in bootloader screen.Have i ask someone who knowage about this he told me that if SLP in you PDA have chang it be hard to repair.So,I think I lose 2 PDA did I try to flash in T-Mobile Official Rom de that i hope to develop it but i hve to kill 2 Charmer.Who take responsibilities,T-Mobile right ???
Ok no problem you can repair it! At first you have to brand your device with the rom you want to! After 95% the Problem will come again! When it stops you have to go with a reset to bootloader again.When your device is in bootloader you have to install the Radio Rom from this thread:

After that your device will be able to boot again and it should work!- But the Problem during the installation will stay,so you have always to use this way to flash your Mda compact II!
In the new rom there must be a problem with the radio rom and this causes the broken device.

You can find the radio rom also on the ftp server. Prophet> Radio Roms>Prophet_G4_RadioRom_v2.47.11.exe
You can try different Radio Rom versions, i have flashed the v.247.11 and it worked.

Now, I can´t start the phone and I can´t connect it to ActiveSync.
So I can´t flash it again.
When I want to flash an older ROM, there came a fail.

Always post the vital data of the phone,which is your device,G3 or G4,post the present IPL/SPL...? of the phone.Which rom you were trying to flash ?Does your phone get into bootloaders (tricolor screen) ?
It won't activesync in bootloaders or in the absence of a working rom (OS),but its possible to flash a rom in bootloaders.Download the official rom from the carrier's site and flash in the bootloaders to recover back to its default status.

**** happens, yesterday i tried to upgrade my rom on charmer (mda compact 2).
During installation system hangs on and didn´t finish.
So now i have only the startscreen and can reach the bootloader.
Tried now to flash an original rom, the ruu says error 294 invalid vendor id.
Otherwise the ruu (for no id) ended with error 238 file read.
My bootloder shows IPL 1.12, SPL 1.12 and USB connected.
I have read a lot of threads but cant find a answer for that.
Has anyone a good idea?

Are you trying to flash WM6 ROM to your charmer? Because WM6 required IPL and SPL level at least 2.xx.
Did you tried this method to bring charmer back to life?

Today i tried to update my rom... while the update i had an error.

after the hardreset the phone hang by the first screen. I can press everething but nothing happens.
now I tried to flash a nother rom but it is unpossible because it can´t connect with windows mobile center on the pc.
Has anyone a good idea?
