Hello all,
has anyone dumped the ROM from the Orange M700 yet?
If I flash my handset and then something goes wrong I'd like to be able to go back the Orange ROM if I need to send it back to them or use the insurance.
Also does anyone have a decent alternative to Phonepad for texting? I've got it installed but its being really hit and miss so I thought I'd try something else (ideally free)
cheers
I would also like to see a M700 original orange ROM
I think you''ll find the cover insures against Theft and loss. as you've said , you've already broken the terms by using a 3rd party ROM so if you do mess up your phone with a rom then why not say you lost it?
Just send it back to Orange anyway, ive sent loads back, a few with non original roms, nobody is bothered they get hundreds returned every day, they all go into a big pile and get reconditioned.
Only downside is on domestic contract you have to pay for replacement "admin fee".
My partner just bought a M700 too... Is there anyway I can get the Orange ROM off her phone??? Thanks in advance...
K
@Kyri: yes, read the wiki... how to dump & how to reconstruct.

Upgrade the ROM then.
mUn_1.25.TE_AKU3.5.2_WWE/FRE [updated release]
or
[new OS kernel] 2007-04-14 AKU 3.5.2 LVSW Edition
both will update the main ROM. you may need to update the radio to at least 1.38.00.11 seperately
@pof
is there an easier way to dump roms yet? an all in one app would be brilliant
Carefull asking for this one!!
I got the head chewed off me in another thread - told check others first before asking for something again!!!!
I think I'm asking for something new ... looking at the dumping instructions its not exactly the easiest thing in the world. I was looking for something along the lines of the ROM updating process .... have to wait and see

Hi everyone. I wanted to upgrade my m700 to the dopod rom to get the phonepad. How can i save the existing orange rom so that i can put it back if i need to. Or is the orange rom available for download anywhere.
Thanks guys
Rob
update
i have done a bit more searching around and i cant seemed to find a dumped orange rom.
In that case should i try to dump my rom before i upgrade so at least we all have one. Have no idea how to do it though.
I would be very keen to learn how to do this too before I start modifying my phone. I have a feeling its not possible YET for the P3600 though since there is no page for it on the XDADeveloperWiki for the Trinity. Can someone confirm this?
Thanks,
James
wiki
There is a wiki. There is a post about it in the stickies at the top of the forum page.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Trinity
However, it doesnt tell us how to do it anyway so not much use in this case.
bump
just bumping this one.
Thanks guys.
Hi all,
I have recently got my Orange SPV M700, new to this forum so apologies if these questions have been covered before. My details are as follows;
Operator version: 19.123.1.615
ROM version: 1.23.61.5
ROM date: 01/25/07
Radio Version: 1.30.00.01
Protocol Version: 32.63.7020.08H
I am wondering about several things;
1. Can I upgrade WM5 to WM6, if so, where is the ROM and how do I do it?
2. Can I make a backup of my factory ROM/settings prior to the upgrade incase something goes wrong I can reset to original state. If so, how?
3. Has anybody successfully update ROMs to WM6 on Orange SPV M700s?
4. Can anybody recommend any cool apps/games for the M700 and where I can download them from.
Thanks in advance!
Scott
Scott, can't answer the question about WM6 myself, as I am also looking for this.
As to regards to backup ROM, there is this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=309959
just tried it myself and works a treat.
As to apps, you definitely want to get hold of the M700 Bass fix cabs, without them, the sounds if hideous. PM me and I'll email them over.
Thanks. I have updated with the bassfix cabs and it might a slight difference, although not what I would call bass. I am using the supplied earphones though. Can anyone get any decent bass sounds out of those?
Regarding your 1st post- look in the Trinity/WM6 part of this forum. There are a few versions of WM6 you can load, but unless you are willing to risk your device, stay clear until you are fully familiar with it.
Installing an unoffical ROM WILL invalidate your warranty. There are ways to backup your ROM, but if there is a major system failure, you may not be able to revert it, so beware.
There is unlikely ever to be an official WM6 ROM from Orange. though HTC are still considering it. Dopod (Asia) are testing one. These would still infringe your Orange license however.
Having said all that, it is unlikely that Orange would detect an unoffical ROM, if there were a hardware fault, because fixing it would entail flashing the official ROM anyway!
i have updated mine to wm6 and it works a treat.
you will need to install the new voice mail notifications cab though otherwise a missed call results in a text message with [email protected]
Where is the link for the WM6 ROM update?
You would need to CID unlock it 1st otherwise you wont be able to anything other than an Orange ROM.
Heres the link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293957
I Have the Orange M700, Unlocked the SIM and the CID with help from the above link.
Flashed the WM6 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=305133
and flashed back the original orange ROM from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=309959
Nerve racking at times but nice when its all done
Nogs
i had the exact same trinity as yours same radio & rom version & i upgraded to mUn 2.00 S.E. without CIDunlock, mUns roms come with softspl just double click the .exe & flash!

Hi Guys
Ive done a search but cant find anything specific so im starting a a new thread.
I have a Touch HD which I got through Orange UK.
Rom version sis: 1.19.61.1 WWE
At the moment im told that I cant receive any updates directly from the HTC site and orange dont really seem to care about offering a good after service.
So my option is to flash my phone with a new ROM, however which version to go for is my biggest question and I really dont have any idea. I understand the flash proceure. WIll any ROM allow updates from HTC site?
Thanks
Craig
hi
i also have a uk branded orange touch hd
i flashed it with the latest official rom from htc (the one that needs a serial number to download and the orange serials dont work)
just use a serial provided in the offical rom upgrade thread to download the rom from htc and use uspl 2.5 to flash it
i used uspl 2.5 to upgrade the rom
all info can be found using the search fuction on this forum
i also made a dump of the phone before i flashed it, just need someone to rebuild the .raw files to a flashable rom
hope this helps
math
Nice one Math, that helps a lot! Will give this a go over the weekend.
Craig
Ok, where do we start? Which ROM you choose is really a bit like asking what car should I choose to buy. The choice is entirely yours based on what you want and what you like.
I think the first question to ask yourself is what do you want? What Windows Mobile OS do you want? WM6.1, WM 6.1 with Touch flow, WM 6.1 with the latest version of Touch flow or WM 6.5 Beta. I'm sure there are more but lets keep it simple.
WM 6.1 or 6.5? HTC Touch Flow or not? What is your native language as you have nothing set in your profile etc?
May I suggest you have a look through the first few posts of each of the ROM threads for this month and see what takes your fancy. If you ask ten people you will get ten possibly different answers.
Look at peoples signatures and see what most people use as most display what current ROM they are using. Maybe try a few, but I suggest use the safest route and follow the instructions to the letter.
Its always a matter of personal opinion but I like Duttys current WM6.1 with TF3D XT3. It's the latest and well tested with fewer bugs than the stock ROM from HTC (IMHO) and is based on the latest technology from the next gen HTC phones.
Do your research and enjoy!

Yes, the choose is your, but as an Orange user myself. I was bored with the official HTC Orange Rom and decided to flash my rom. Did manage to keep the back up on original rom in cause of warranty reason. I have try quite a lot of cook rom the only problem I had was mainly with battery life wasn’t good and will not last for a day or so. Since with this rom, HD|ROM||WWE|| ** EnergyROM HD Series 21042 - Final Topaz Manila ** || Build 40909 || man!! The software and battery life is incredible. Yes I would recommend to you

where did u get this rom from? link?
couple of newbie questions. I also have orange phone ...
If I upgrade to the latest HTC rom will I loose all my programs installed in the phones memory?
Will I loose my programs/they stop working (e.g. Tomtom) that have been reigstered with the phone (in add/remove programs) on my memory card?
Can I restore everything from a backup (sprite) ?
Is there any way of goign back to the older ROM if I need to send my phone back for warranty reasons?
Thanks

Thanks for info. Just to clarify a couple of things..
Will my sprite backup restore all programs and settings to the new rom version?
How can I backup my existing ROM? I'm guessing the official ROM is a HSPL?
Thanks

USPL and HSPL these are different method of putting new ROM to your phone.
you will find more information in here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blackstone_Flash1
with this method you can get a backup of your current ROM

Thanks again. I never thought it would be so complicated. I thougth someone would have created a GUI for this stuff, its amazing what they have GUI's for these days and this is still command line.
Still unsure as to wether I can restore my sprite back up after going to 1.56 rom though. With the amount I have installed its probably not worth the effort for now.
Getting a Jade on Wednesday (Orange UK)
The Orange UK ROM sounds rubbish so the first step will be to try the generic HTC ROM.
Can I flash the WWE stock HTC ROM from the ROM Dump thread without Hard SPL?
I presume someone with the correct s/n has downloaded from HTC and just mirrored?

If it is the "Ship EXE" instead of a ROM Dump then it can be flashed with the help of a "Goldcard". You'll have to search around for tips on how to do this, I don't know the whole process.
Why not use Hard SPL? It's way safer.
Dave
Thanks Dave, tried the generic HTC ROM....no go.
Thought to myself "why kid yourself, you know you'll be on custom ROMs in no time at all" and flashed Hard SPL.
Have to say, from the start point of the Orange UK ROM to just going to the manufacturers ROM is night and day. The standard Orange crap was bordering on unuseable.
What is this "goldcard" thing...?
Did you find any tuto on how to Hard SPL a Jade ?? or I am dump to not find it around ?? (could be the case as well....) I have to do the same for my Tattoo wife one... this Orange Rom is really crap !
Thanks ! ;-)
Dave'
The instructions are all out there.
As I said I just went ahead and did it. Tried many different ROMs, each one far better than the Orange one.
God only knows why they deliberately cripple the devices they issue with these junk ROMs. With a new ROM the Jade is like a new phone and a fairly decent one at that.
I can say the same, Orange ROM was awful, dont know why they make changes and lock it. I did HSPL and put the original ROM from HTC site, now the phone looks great

i agree it is crap lol. you would have had to HSPL your phone anyway because it was orange and would not take any rom other than orange roms, and its a small price to pay to have a useable phone
Hi Guys,
i am completely new to this, so i could use a little help here...
I already looked up my chip (its a samsung) to help out for the HSPL, and i informed myself about the possibilities...
But i still got one big question...
Is there a way to flash a normal HTC ROM on my T-Mobile branded TP2 without using HSPL? Should i use Goldcard, and if yes, can anyone link me a good tutorial or how - to for it?
Because its anoying that you can't install skype oder any messengers and so on...
I would also upload my German T-Mobile ROM, if anyone would tell me how to backup it...
Thanks in advance
A ROM-Dump isn't really practicable because of missing HardSPL!
To get a GoldCard send cmonex a PM with the question for helping you! Got mine yesterday and the Stock HTC ROM isn't as good as my o2 Stock ROM!
BTW:
It's necessary to spend some money to cmonex for getting this little mod! But with her way of GoldCard, you can flash any Stock ROM straight from your PC to your TP2! And you will help developing HardSPL!
I hope its at least better than my stock T-Mobile, cause it really sucks and i don't get updates at all, so i still got buggy GPS and the + bug, which is really annoying...
But so far thx a lot for your help
I think it will be good for you to flash the o2 ROM as it has a huger amount of free memory and seems to be more stable than the HTC ROM, then flash Radio 3.46, which can be found here on XDA! For sure, after getting the GoldCard from cmonex/Olipro (),
Please read and search before starting a new thread.
