Hi!
I have installed IGO My Way 2006 Plus (it is a navigation program for PDA). I was wondering if its possible to automatically turn on the bluetooth when starting the program (just like in TomTom).
Now i have to go to commanager, press the bluetooth button and then start IGO 2006.
I was wondering if theres anything you could modify in the registry to have IGO 2006 auto-turn-on the bluetooth?

i think there are third party apps which can do this. or you could add a bt applet to your today screen to toggle it on/off before you start your program
BT applet on today screen

Thanks! Ive found 2 third party apps that could to this. One is ozBT ( http://oz.sciox.org/ozbt.html )
And the other is BiGo ( http://forum.pocketnavigation.de/thread.php?threadid=1031037&sid= )
bbobeckyj, the BT applet your referring to...is it this: "Start/Settings/Today/Items". There I can ad the "Wireless" icon to the today screen. But still, when I click on the "Wireless" icon (on today screen) and try to toggle to BT on...it opens the Commanager. What BT applet was you referring to (to toggle BT via today screen)?
I rather use this BT applet than using those third party apps. Cuz they only take up memory.
Thanks!

personally, i use pocketmax phonealarm which i tried ages ago and thought too complicated for my needs, but as i became more knowlegable and my needs changed, i went back to it and know use 3 of the developer's software.
some roms have a bt appl in the system tray just above the contacts softkey such as in this screenshot from faria's rom, however i don't know how to set that up myself, but it will be something you need to add to the startup folder in windows.
two popular apps by sbsh and spb would help and phm tray launch may do so also
BT tray icon
Thanks bbobeckyj!
I found that PhoneAlarm and SPB Phone Suite is what i need. Both programs have almost the same functions, but i PhoneAlarm is more complicated. So I will try out the SPB Phone Suite ( http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/phonesuite/screenshots.html?en ).
I also serached on the forum to get som answers about the BT tray icon, and found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=303103&highlight=bluetooth+tray
Once again, thanks for the anwsers.

Note that you could actually set up a profile in PhoneAlarm that would turn on BT, set the volume, power options (e.g., disable dimming the screen), AND launch your GPS program! Works well!

Thanks!!! Now this is something even better compared to Phone Suite. This solves all my questions. This solution is even better than what i was searching for in first place.

I was researching SPB mobile shell because i heard alot of good news about it. Now most of the stuff that it offers is already given from the get go on the Kaiser.
Is there anything else on Mobile shell that is not offered already by the Kaiser that is a must have or very helpful?
While i'm at it, is there any other good programs that you would think are 'must have'?
Thank you in advance!
i like mobile shell and also diary and weather from spb but i am having a few issues. The weather tab is black text and doesnt stand out from the black background. Also, when i have spb weather installed i cannot figure out how to resize the weather tab so diary goes up further. I would just use the htc home screen but the dang clock is too big
Subscribe to Club Spb and you'll find the solution to your black text problem. There's been a release that addresses the problem.
I use the following:
P+ for the battery indicator, safe mode, and PIE extensions. Everything else is off.
Shell for the Today plug-in. The menu thing and wake-up screen are off.
Phone suite as a tab (first) in Shell.
Diary as a tab (second) in Shell showing only calendar, tasks, special events.
Weather as a tab (third) in Shell.
Shell's 'main' tab as number four.
On my Today screen, I have the date, then Shell. Auto-hide is off for Shell, and Diary is set to like 172 for height.
It's the perfect setup.
Nice indeed, i'll use the same setup as yours for a bit and see how convenient it is. (however i don't see the use of installing P+ in order to have the battery bar since mobile shell show the battery icon with the percentage).
Thanks for the idea
Oh, will have to look for that black text fix, that must be pretty new. I prefer keeping Diary below the mobile shell stuff as it's my primary Today screen tool. I'm trying different apps for profiles, the SPB one is a bit too simplistic for me, and mobile shell already has things like photo quick dial.
There is definitely some overlap in features!
Phone suite works for me. I like the auto profiles (meeting marked as busy puts phone in silent mode, etc.) and other notifiers. edit: also forgot about radio on/off's on the plug-in.
I forgot to mention the close button for P+ - I use that all the time.
Used to be a die-hard Diary guy. Now I find myself just using the PocketInformant list view instead. It's easier / more detailed. I could probably remove Diary and miss nothing.
I used the SBSH stuff for a long time, too. Paired with WisBar Advanced. Didn't want to suck up that much memory / CPU on my new device.
The HTC Home plug in is great, but Mobile Shell is much, much more powerful, particularly if you pair it with other SPB products that it can use as plugins. I've got PocketPlus for a range of reasons, and having 4 Mobile Shell tabs + PocketPlus tabs means two to three tap access to everything I want.
I did like the HTC Home as a freebie, but the SPB stuff just goes much, much further.
I've tried SPB Phone Suite and it does not handle the radio/bt/wifi switching well. For now I am trying PhoneAlarm and it seems to be good. radio/bt/wifi switching works correctly. I also like that it is possible to have bt automatically switched on during a call (for using a headset) and then off after the call ends. This is a good power saver.
One question: If I disable the HTC Home plugin from the today screen in order to try SPB Mobile Shell, will the HTC plugin still be running (in the background) in program memory?
I have had ZERO issues with radio control using Phone Suite. Everything goes on and off as it should. Is it possible you're using an older version?

No, I downloaded the latest available from the SPB site. I also soft-resetted to be sure. Perhaps mine is a one-off case?
To be more precise, my problem with Phone Suite is that for example I am in Normal profile with Wifi off. I have a scheduled appointment that will trigger the Meeting profile, and Wifi is turned on with the Meeting profile. However Wifi is not being turned on with the Meeting profile or any other automatic profile. It works normally with an explicit manual profile change. Anyone experiencing the same issues with SPB Phone Suite?

So under the Automatic:Meeting profile, the selector for WiFi is "On" rather than "Unchanged?" And that's not causing WiFi to go on? I'd e-mail support and let them know. Since it's a new device on a relatively new OS, they may have some fixing to do.
Out of curiosity, I do have to ask why you're having that go on automatically, though. That's going to drain battery relatively quickly compared to standard operation. And when you're in a meeting do you always have a WiFi connection available? I typically don't, but I'm on client sites that either don't have it or have it but don't permit access. And if you're in a meeting, why are you surfing anyway?
I haven't noticed the issue myself. Do you have PA and PhoneSuite installed simultaneously?

I don't actually have the need for WiFi to automatically switch on with the Meeting profile. It's just that as a developer myself I tend to go over an application to see if all functionality is as it is supposed to be. It just sort of 'irritates' me when some things don't work as supposed.
At the moment I have Phone Alarm and Phone Suite installed simultaneously. However I actually tried out PhoneAlarm because of the issues with Phone Suite so PA is not the cause. I presently am trying PS just for the 'Reject and reply with SMS' functionality, and PA for all other profile functionality.

I'm not a developer, but do much the same to make sure that when I do want to use something, I can. I've a meeting coming up, so I'll change my profile as well and see if I get the same issue.
SPB is normally quite responsive to support issues, so I'd let 'em know and see what's what. They'll probably have a good answer for you.
Hi Leon100,
What version of PhoneAlarm are you using. Is it 1.62.
I am asking this because I tried using PA with my HTC Touch but I notice that with this installed very often the Touch fails to Switch On when I press the Power button. Most of the time needs a Soft Reset. I used the PAy Touch v2 skin and I suspect that the PA Task-Switcher is conflicting with the SPB Plus Task Switcher and causing this "Sleep-of-Death" problem. Do you know of a way to De-Activate the PhoneAlarm Task-Switcher.
will appreciate any help & suggestions

I just checked and noticed two things:
1. Automatic profiles don't "work" unless you've set the profile to "Automatic" on the PhoneSuite Today screen.
2. Once I did that, WiFi fired up for the profile as expected.
So I guess it's worth asking - did you select the "Automatic" profile?

Great, that was it. I thought that since the Meeting profile was an automatic one it would activate by itself. Thanks.
Another question now: Is it possible for bluetooth to be activated only during a call? PhoneAlarm has this facility but I did not manage to find it in PhoneSuite. It would be a power saving facility.

I have version 1.62. What do you mean by Task-Switcher? If it is the profiles that you mean then most of these can be deactivated, but there has to be at least the Normal profile available. The option to deactivate the normal profile is disabled. You can try to deactivate all profiles except the normal profile, soft-reset and see if this helps.

Not that I'm aware of, no. But I've always got my headset on and haven't run into battery issues, so I wasn't looking for it.
With BT 2.0, I haven't noticed a drain issue, but then I also always have second battery with me just in case.
I previously used SPB Mobile Shell on my rw6828 and had major battery drain problems (which stopped when it was uninstalled).
Is anyone seeing higher battery drain with SPB Mobile Shell on the Kaiser? thanks

I'm only using the Today plug-in part of Shell, and in general, I have to charge nightly.
Maybe this weekend I'll disable Shell and see how the battery life goes.
Hi,
I am interested in binding a button to quickly turn the wireless off and on.. It is a pain to keep going through the comm manager..
I need a little program that when executed just either enables it or disables it depending on the current state..
Anybody know of such a program?
Thanks,

I think theis might be the site:
http://ae.inc.ru/aewft.php
This function is also built into Spb Phone Suite. Very handy I might add.
Not free is downside..
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/phonesuite/?en
There is also a new beta for this app which you can find here;
http://www.spbclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15808
Use Kaiser tweeks etc to turn on wireless today, which will give you a home screen plugin
Here is another free today plug in - gives you all the three buttons to toggle : bluetooth, wifi and the phone all in one place. Takes away the pain of using comm manager. I dont remember where I found it so I am just posting the CAB here.
If were going with Today Screen plug-ins I'll have to place my vote for SBSH PhoneWeaver (not free but well worth it):

Hi all,
Just bought a Diamond in replacement of my Cruise.
This Diamond is beautiful and easy to use but I have not fount a profile application to use with.
I need a profile application that can control Bluetooth, rings and notification volume in profiles like cars, home, work .....
I usually used PhoneAlarm but with the Diamond and the touchflo screen, it is not possible to add the today plugin ...
So I have tried an application called PZP and the PZP Menu software that I launch using a long press on button. this application is great but eavy and slow to load...
So I am now searching an application to manage my profiles through the TF3D (why not ..) or with a button on the task bar for example.
someone has an idea ?
regards
i have this same question and couldnt find the answer. has anyone solved this yet?

You could always remap a TF3D soft key to whichever profile switcher application you decide on?
I've tried PhoneAlarm in the past (http://www.pocketmax.net/phoneAlarm.html) but now use Wireless Time (http://freewareppc.com/communication/wirelesstime.shtml) which alters my profiles based on the time of day.
Don't think there is anything integrating tightly within TF3D just yet
I'm the developer of PhoneWeaver (I'll don't put the link to avoid it to be considered SPAM, but it is public that beemer=miguel). I think it is the best profiler program in the market and I can tell you as a secret that as long as I have a Diamond as my personal phone, current version works well on it and next version will be fully optimized

I haven't yet managed to find working documentation for WirelessTime. Presumably you need to keep it running and there's no minimise option. I can't work out the configurable time option under the settings that seem to defaulted to 00:10, but it looks like hourly configurable slots on the main screen. I have searched, but can't find a manual, either on PDAInfo, Google, or here. Any pointers in the right direction?
If you are still looking for a tool to manage profiles, here you have
- Profiles for Windows Mobile
I bought it a year before, and they told me I could get 2 more licenses. I have been trying to contact with them this month (in order to get my second license for the diamond), and no way.
So, in the trial version you would be able to configure and programme 2 profiles. Anyway, if you look around the web...

I have created a link to it that I put in the startup folder so it runs on every soft reset. I never have to open the program and it doesn't appear as a running program.
I've not found any docs either, but I've left the time option set at 00:10 because I wasn't sure what it did! On the main screen I've just highlighted what I want to be 'on' each hour, and repeated that for all the days in the week. Been working fine for me on this basis

Hi
At the Diamond, how you change profiles? where you connect it to?
I am using Phoneweaver I have added a button to the Phoneweaver Menu on my Programs tab and when i press that i get my profile list ... works a treat
SPB Phone Suite is nice - and if you couple it with Second Today then you can access all of the home screen plugin options for switching profiles.
Hello. Here is what I am looking for and maybe my Fuze can already do this, but I can not figure it out.
I would like to have more control of the phone profile options like I used to have on my Blackberry phones. Basically I want to be able to make custom profiles.
For example. With my old phones I was able to use an "advanced" feature in the phone profile section to create what I called a "night" setting. When this setting was activated the entire phone was on silent (texts, emails, etc, everything was silent) EXCEPT the phone, which would ring if I received a call. So it was basically a "phone only" setting. This was perfect at night because I would only receive a call if it was a real emergency.
Or let's say I want EVERYTHING to vibrate EXCEPT the phone that I want to ring. On my Fuze I see how to put the entire phone on "vibrate" or "silent", or "normal", but how do I adjust those profile settings if I want to or create new profiles
Is there a program/script/plugin that will accomplish this? Or can I already do it on the phone?
Thanks for any help with this.
i am looking for something like this too so if anyone knows of a program that does this or can make one that would be really awesome.
phoneAlarm from pocketmax.net is the program you want.
You can create several different profiles controlling everything from ring and alarm tones to backlight level to WiFi status and automate switching between each of them based on time, appointment, location...
Though written as a Today screen plug-in, there is a TouchFlo support mode that lets you run TF as well.

dgduris, thank you for the info. I am going to go check it out now to learn more. I am currently using spb Mobile shell. Does it work with this program?
thanks again for the info. I will report back what I find and how it works!
How does phonealarm support TouchFlo? I used to use phonealarm with my 8525. But with my new Fuze, I've been trying out SBSH Phoneweaver. Which seems to be working well enough. It has a pop-up profile screen menu overlay that I set to one of my buttons.
spb phone suite was the answer for me. really a nice program.
does spb phone suite mess with the Touch Flo? and my manila? i dont want to have the entire SPB thing show up in my home screen. I want to it to be like an app where i can just open it and chang I just want to be able to change profie profiles and then close it again.
I believe it will be in your profiles or setting list and it does not mess with TF3D. It works great with my Mobile Shell touch screen settings also.
Hi all, searched the forum but couldn't find an answer to my problem.
Is there a way to keep programs maximised after you wake up the phone from standby/screenlock?
For example: I use TomTom a lot for short rides, so I get in and out of the car many times. So when I come back in the car, the phone is on screenlock/standby and when I wake up the phone TomTom is minimalised.
Can this be changed so it's always full screen, so I don't have to open it again in the task-manager?
To add on to this thread, is there a way to make a program "Always on Top"? I have bluetooth in my car, so I'd like my navigation program to stay on top while I answer my phone through my head unit.

That's indeed a similar question I would like to have an answer to
It's something I could look at including in my StartTomTom app (see www.BlownFuze.org), but obviously that would only work for TomTom. Is that worth pursuing, do you think?
Cheers,
Steve.
I'd like it
TomTom is for me the most important program to keep always on top.
You might try using WkTask. It keeps all of your running programs visible in a tray, just like with the Windows taskbar on your Desktop. If an app gets minimized, you can just tap on its icon to bring it back up. You can also customize the behavior of the X button per application (X to minimize certain apps, X to close others), as well as a host of other options.

That might be an option when something else won't work, I'll give it a try if other solutions are not possible, thanks
I've done some initial research on how TomTom interacts with the dialer when making/receiving calls.
It appears that if using bluetooth, it all operates just as you would hope - the screen stays on, and it drops back to TomTom. However, if you aren't using bluetooth, then the normal behaviour of the screen switching off after a few seconds kicks in, and once the call is finished, it leaves TomTom minimised in the background.
Is it this latter behaviour that people have an issue with?
Cheers,
Steve.
The ideal way should be when accepting a call, the screen immediately switches to TomTom so you don't miss any navigation. On the other hand, you can't really use the in-call options .
My phone is connected through bluetooth and in my memory it switches back to TomTom after a call is ended, so that's correct.
