I don't have a Dopod but an x7500/Advantage and I don't have this problem with the battery. Are you using the supplied wall charger or trying to charge via USB through a computer or other low power source?

external battery links for Athena...
Here are a couple links (keep in mind I haven't tried any of these):
http://www.smartdevicesdirect.com/u....html?osCsid=07345864b9a37c51317edce76f1ca7ef
http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=118661
Hope this is what you're looking for. The first one is a 5400mAh external battery. Sounds like it'll last a long time on the Athena since the factory battery is only 2200mAh.

Sorry but I've never seen one for the Athena. Maybe I just haven't run into one or the device is too new for these to be out already. If you find one please post it here for the rest of us. Also, please no more double posting.

Here is the charger:

That's just for the battery. I think the original post is looking for a docking cradle for the Athena itself, and IIRC HTC were planning on launching such a device, with a fairly high cost.

Hi guys: Somethings wanted to share with you guys. never never put your phone to the car charger before you start the car. It happened to my HTC HD2 T9193 now it can not be charged or data xfer. the orange led not light up also there is no ac icon instead of battery icon on the display. now I have to use swapping battery instead of charge it. if you see this post your are a lucky guy to know this experience . by the way, anybody knows how much will cost to repair and where?
To play devil's advocate. How do you know what exactly caused your damage to your HD2? Did it happen the first time you connected it up that way?
that's the same problem some people had with the HTC tytn 2 when using cheap chargers from ebay...
Apperantly theres something missing to stop the car from pulling power from your HD2 while it's connected to the charger.

...but: was it an original one, from HTC itself?
Yeah unless I have been lucky for so many years (knock on wood), it has to be a cheap or faulty charger because I hve llway had my phone changing when I am in the car. I have always used carrier sold charger's or a USB adapter and USB Cable. I do however remember reading about this a few devices ago.

The usb cable is HTC and the charger is from ebay.
Yesterday I wanted to load my HD2 so I plugged the charger into the socket and connected the HD2 to the charger. Just like always the HD2 began to load.
About one hour later there was a very burned smell in my room. I unplugged the charger. And this is the result:
Is there only me having this problem ?
I think this is a very serious problem that needs to be addressed to HTC if not done yet by someone, a friend´s apartment got caught on fire because a htc charger, same problem I assume , I guess we need to keep the charger on sight when in use to avoid a disgrace.

I hope my old charger from my touch diamond will not have the same problem sometime
Same problem with the charger of my Xperia X1 (also HTC), smoke came out the charger.
Ouch. I keep mine on a hardwood floor, but this time of year it's always a good idea to keep a eye on power packs and chargers. I've always thought my charger ran remarkably cool, I run a cradle off of my charger and frequently charge the phone and battery at the same time, I think I'll give it a heat-check next time I have them both on charge.

That sucks... Since HD2 has standard mini USB connector. I use either the charger from "late" Xperia X1 or my Samsung Omnia HD. No problem there
Yep my charger is hot
I did not notice before this thread, but yesterday I charged my HD2, and I touch the charger, and it was peaty hot. I do not like this...

I don't understand why they changed the charger cause my old charger from the touch diamond is not even a little bit hot. Maybe it's cheaper for HTC

Hi, this is my first post so don't be evil.
I have a galaxy mini s5570b with a burnt charger connection. what's weird is that i know that the phone is responding to the charger, but it won't charge at all. when I turn it off, it turns off and when I plug the charger it turns on, but it won't charge.
I wanted to know if I can buy a s5570 charger connection and install it on s5570b?

Hi there, im posting this thread because i had/im having issues while charging through wall plug my Galaxy S. It says its charging but it wont charge really as the percentage will never go up. If I charge the cell through usb from computer things go fine and it charges normally.
I've purchased a brand new charger to see if the old one was the guilty for that issue but the brand new is not working either.
Any of the battery supplies doesn't work either so i figured out that the issue came from software so I upgraded my Cyanogen to the most recent stable version and well, at the first charge through the wall plug was fine but after that isnt working again.
So I'm asking you guys if there's a solution for my issue, i'm really desperated with this problem. I can't travell if my cell doesnt charge through wall plugs.
Thank you.
Hi,
i`ve posted your thread in the development thread of CM 10.1.3 ...maybe more people have a idea what it could be !

I've checked it and its not a hardware issue. This issue started to happen when i installed a stable version of Cyanogen and data connection through USB works fine when im transfering movies and pics through the usb connection. Problem is while charging with every wall charger i have for Galaxy.
Maybe make a backup of your device...with CWM-Recovery and t est with another ROM or newer ROM, like CM 10.2 ...only as a test

I bought recently a samsung charger recently.
Before having 10.2 i was with experimental versions of Cyanogen but mobile didnt work properly so i did full wipe of data/cache/dalvik and installed the custom firmware (Gingerbread) and then i upgraded it to Cyanogen doing the right steps as detailed in this forum.
It is really strange, that it worked over usb ,but not with a wall plugged-in charger ...
But i don`t think that it is a software-problem ...
Do you have any news actually?

It may be problem with current output of charger. Check whether your charger is giving 700mA (0.7A) output.
Find the output marked on the sticker (or on body) on the charger whether it is written 700mA or less.
If it is 700mA, then output is equivalent to the original charger. If it is 550mA, then it's just OK. And if it is less than 550mA, it is of no use for Galaxy S.

Hi, I've just checked the charger outputs and they are between that range. One is 0.7A and the other one is 550mA. Thing is that with the 550mA one it only charges when i plug the connector to the phone in the same particular position, if not it's not charging. The 0.7A one is not charging at all but is the one which charged the phone without problem some days ago.
I'm ordering an additional one to confirm my suspects, ill keep u noticed, thanks for all the help!

Instead of buying the new charger, You may buy the charging pin as shown in the pic given in the link. It will cost you just around 2% of the cost of the original charger.
www.telecomb2b.com/uploadedimages/3023Connector-pin.jpg
Separate both the parts (mobile end) on the charging pin and also on the old charger. Now exchange the end parts of both (charger and charging pin)
and enjoy refreshed charger

Fast charge mode has nothing to do with Ac charging. When connected to USB, our phone allow limited power to go for charging. (As you can see, it takes around 6 hours to charge via USB.)
This mode removes this limit and speed up charging.
