Restoring CID Lock without Lokiwiz backup? - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario Software Upgrading

Well, my G3 Cingular 8125 is going in for warranty replacement (the keyboard is showing signs of physical wear), so I'm getting it as close to its original state as possible.
Per this thread, I went ahead and changed this line in Lokiwiz.bat
Code:
Utils\wizardunlock.exe lock_backup.bin -c 11111111 -w cidunlocked.bin
to this
Code:
Utils\wizardunlock.exe lock_backup.bin -c WIZCNG01 -w cidunlocked.bin
where WIZCNG01 is the Operator value grabbed with Typhoon NBF Tools from the official 2.25 Cingular ROM.
Well, that didn't turn out so well, and now Lokiwiz has overwritten my months-old CID-locked .bin backups (which I need) with what I'm assuming are CID-unlocked files.
Anyone have any experience relocking without the original Lokiwiz backups?
I am running the official Cingular 2.25 ROM for the time being. I will likely ship the phone back to Cingular using this ROM.

Downgrade SPL and ROM to TMobile stock

A friend om mine owns an MDA Vario, upgraded to Molski's 2.26.. The Wizard lags horribly at games, music and any other cpu intensive task (even before Molski's ROM!), their are also strange logfiles on the root of the wizzard (dbgtostorage..) about 4MB each, they pile up and one of them (active one..) can't be deleted so its in use by something.. what could it be?
Anyway, I think it's an hardware issue and want to send it for RMA, before doing that I want to flash it back to stock Dutch TMobile IPL/SPL/ROM..
For some reason the SPL can't be downgraded? ROM and IPL change after an update but the SPL sticks at 2.26 (Molski's)
The latest TMobile (2.21) can't be used asks me to find a newer updatetool, can't downgrade..
I've already tried Boot's 1.05 but it won't downgrade the SPL and also tried the Cingular 1.8, same problem.. SPL stil 2.26..
What would happen if I would flash an G4 device with G3 IPL\SPL, would the device stil work but crash or is it just not possible to flash G3 on G4 device?
Is their some commandline IPL\SPL\ROM updatetool without checks and stuff?
(Thnx to Dr Puttingham for posting a solution in another topic and faria for making it possible)
Dr Puttingham said:
If you have a G3 device you can downgrade your IPL/SPL. I've done it my Cingular 8125 and it's 3 replacement PDA's numerous times. In addition I've downgraded at least 20 phones to 1.05 so's I could unlock and then upgrade. And then done it again. If you follow faria's instructions that is.... Now I HAVE had to flash the 1.05 twice to get the SPL down to 1.05. Humor us huh?
Note: I realize that Faria says that it doesn't work above 2.21 but I have performed this procedure on at least a dozen "out of the box" Cingular 2.25's. Downgrade to 1.05. Extract lokiwiz to the root of your C drive. Copy enablerapi.cab to your device (I know that you've unlocked your device, just indulge me please ) Execute enablerapi.cab from your PDA. get to a Dos prompt and run lokiwiz from the C prompt. Unlock CID and SIM. It WILL reboot each time. If your IPL / SPL still show a 2.x reflash again with the 1.05.
If you do this I'll just about guarantee that it'll work

How to relock the CID

Hello
A quick question. I've searched around for the answer but haven't found it yet - could someone please enlighten me?
I upgraded then downgraded my ROM but I need to know how to relock the CID.
Does this happen automatically when you upgrade? Is there a way of knowing if it's locked?
The lokiwiz application only has the option to unlock.
Any comments greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
This is possible,
edit lokiwiz.bat
line:
Utils\wizardunlock.exe lock_backup.bin -c 11111111 -w cidunlocked.bin
where you enter your ORIGINAL CID in stead of 1111111
as an example:
Utils\wizardunlock.exe lock_backup.bin -c TMO_0901 -w cidunlocked.bin
This will relock your CID to TMO_901 (I believe it is T-mobile WWE)

Hi
Thanks!
How do I find the code for imate? The ROM I am reverting to is:
K-JAM_WWE_1010903_106_10110_ship.exe
Is one of those .bin files an input file I need to have as well?

You should be able to read the operator ID with TyphoonNbfTool_04.exe.
But you'll have to extract the nk.nbf file from the K-JAM_WWE_1010903_106_10110_ship.exe.
Looks like CID's from wizard are a tat different:
I got WIZORGE5 for Orange NLD..
Typhoon NBF Tools report the operator for the nbf file (in K-JAM_WWE_1010903_106_10110_ship.exe) is:
WIZCDL01
I'm basically trying to lock the CID back up so the PDA is exactly as it was when I bought it (warranty repair needed).
I bought the phone new from Expansys, not attached to any network, so am I right in thinking that that carrier is imate? (It's branded imate k-jam as opposed to qtek or anything else).
Also, when I come to relock, what bin files should I use?
indeed you should use the imate kjame nk.nbf file.
But you'll have to downgrade first to 1.01 (see the cid-unlock thread) the relock if both ipl and spl are the same (1.01).
after relock you can install the original rom.
I think the original ROM uses IPL 1.01 and SPL 1.06. (I already downgraded to the original ROM.)
This is the version I want to lock, because then I can send it back to repair. (I sent it back before and they refused to look at it because it was the wrong version, that is why I have to be very careful I understand exactly how to send it back as I bought it)
So, ipl is 1.01 and spl is 1.06. (OS version is 1.1.9.3)
Am I okay to lock the CID if the IPL and SPL are different?

yups, if that was the original state, it is okay.

I'm running out of options...

A friend of mine gave me his TMobile (USA) MDA which is an HTC Wizard. He was trying to get it unlocked and upgrade to WM6. Suffice to say, he didn't know what he was doing. He never unlocked the CID but still managed to flash ROMs. He flashed the SPL to 3.08. Since he didn't unlock the CID, when the device boots up (when it hits the splash screen) it just freezes. I can go to into bootloader and I've changed the IPL to 1.01, 1.05, 2.26. 3.08. I can change the IPL, that's not a problem. I simply use the 2.00.1 No_ID RUU for most of it. The problem is this, in order to fix the device I need to go back to stock firmware/ROM (then downgrade to 1.05 and do a CID unlock). This is a T-Mobile device.
Unfortunately, with all non custom T-Mobile ROMs, the .nbf file is not compatible with 2.00.1. All would yield a File Read error. (this happens when the NBF structure is newer revision than the RUU version). When I try to use the RUU files to do the update (v2.6.0) it'll give me Error 296 Upgrade Only. I've trying using TyphoonNbfTool to rebuild the header on the T-Mobile file, but when you save the file, it'll only have the 2KB header. (I've tried replacing the Offcial ROM's header with the "corrected" one but that will just corrupt the file) When I try a newer patched version of RUU (v.2.5.2) I get Error 300.
I can strip the T-Mobile ROM, rebuild it with nb2nbf_wizard (which an older, compatible with 2.00.1 NO_ID, structure) and apply the flash, but it still locks up. I'm trying to get it to patch with an original T-Mobile USA complete ROM. After that I'll be able to apply a hard reset and then do a "r2sd all" from MTTY and have it back up and running. The OTHER option is to just unlock the CID via imei-check.co.uk and then do a hard-reset, but i'm sure it'll work.
What I need is a patched version of RUU v2.6 (NO_ID). Or a Original T-Mobile 1.x ROM. Help?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=316203&highlight=tmobile+rom
on the second post in that thread is a link I have of the last update for the us tmobile mda ipl/spl of 2.26 gsm 2.25. I think that is what you were looking for. hopefully it helps you out.
You can also find an english RUU in my sig that might help you also.
Thanks. I have an unpatched 2.X ROM. I've never been able to flash it because i'd get a File Read error on 2.00.1 (meaning the RUU is too old) and on the new versions weren't patched so I'd get UPDATE ONLY problems (probably because of 3.08 SPL on the device). I wanted an unpatched, original 1.X ROM because 2.00.1 NO_ID can patch 1.X kbf files without a problem. Hopefully the v2.5.2 in the link is NO_ID patched. That should solve my problems. So from here if I get File Read error, that means i need v2.6 (like in the original updater for the original ROM) or if I get 296 Upgrade Only, that means the v2.5.2 isn't patched. I'm going to try it out once I get it done charging

I Really Need Someone's Help Cid Unlocking My Wizard!

I have a t-mobile mda. It first had a t-mobile official 2.26 ROM , I wanted to CID unlock it, but someone told me I have to downgrade it first to the wizard button so my SPL will be 1.06, but When I did it, my IPL became 1.xx, BUT MY SPL IS STILL 2.26! What do I do??? I know it worked because I see the beer can splash screen. What did I do wrong? I have a G3 device that started out with IPL 2.26, and SPL 2.26. PLEASE HELP!!!
ALSO, IF SOMEONE HAS ORINGINAL T-MOBILE MDA ROM, PLS SEND IT!!! CAN I INSTALL CINGLUAR 8125 ROM ON THIS!!!! I WANT TO CID-UNLOCK IT
Start by reading Dr. Puttingham's exhaustive guide to unlocking a Wizard. You will find all you need there to continue the process.
(Second Sticky on the main topic page)
Thanks, I read it. i was using the wst tool to unlock my wizard. Should I use the lokiwiz instead? does this mean that my SPL is supposed to be at 2.26?

What you need to do is downgrade to the button rom and then use lokiwiz 02b to CID and SIM unlock your device and then flash back to the Official 2.26 Rom.
Once you do this you are CID unlocked. It's not hard, just long and tedious. Read read read and follow all directions to a T and you should be fine.
Ok thanks. Will my MDA be unlocked AFTER I flash back to the 2.26 ROM? I used Lokiwiz, but WST Tool still said that it's CID locked. So, will it automatically be unlocked when I flash back to the 2.26 ROM? Also, how do I know if Lokiwiz worked? It didn't give any message, and my MDA did NOT reboot or anything. I pressed "C" for CID unlock, and then some messages came up real fast and the CMD window closed before I could read anything. Is this normal?
EDIT: I think I know what I did wrong. I extracted Lokiwiz do my desktop. I'll try again and extract to C:

Yes it will still be unlocked after flashing the t-mobile 2.26 rom. This is mainly done to restore the IPL/SPL.

It doesn't matter much if you extract the lokiwix02b on desktop or in C:\ drive, but it's recommended to extract it in Root of drive C:\.but the main consideration is doing the lokiwiz method correctly.I think you are not doing the method correctly. After extraction of lokiwiz zipfile you got to copy and past the EnableRapi.cab file in the phone and execute it there in the phone, only then it'll operate correctly,ok

Flashed 2 ROMs Still MDA shows T-Mobile ROM?

Within the past 2 hours, I have flashed 2 ROMS:
1. TNT.19199 Series V.2 (Offcial/Professional/TouchFLO) WM 6.1 Real Port
2. WM6.1 For Wizard OS 5.2.19521 buit 19521 WWE
I did a HardRest to T-Mobile ROM, connected to ActiveSync, went through the XP-ROMUpdate Utility until 100% completed, Clicked on Finished.
Saw the TNT Series It's Right with 2.26, 2.26, 2.25.11 and 2.26.10.2.
Then for some unknown reason the MDA restarted and came back up with the T-Mobile Hard Reset Screen and ask for a tap on screen, etc., to go through a total reset back to the T-Mobile ROM.
What did I do wrong?
Even after the T-Mobile ROM reset I still see the TNT Series It's Right with 2.26, 2.26, 2.25.11 and 2.26.10.2. screen but then my MDA is displaying the T-Mobile Today screen with the default Today stuff.
What do I need to do?
Thank you.
It sounds like your phone is not cid unlocked
Did you follow these steps for unlocking before flashing ??

Used WST V 0.4.0.0 and did a CID Unlock and received notification that CID Unlock completed. Do a Soft Reset which I did do.
Tried again to Flash both ROMS and they did show 100% competed/finished.
MDA softreset and showed both first screens of flashed roms, then went into Windows Mobile T-Mobile.
So, what did I do wrong?
This is the message I received after the CID Unlock:

can now flash any ROM to your device.

You didn't read the stickies carefully.
You need to flash the Button's ROM to have your IPL and SPL lowered to 1.01 before unlocking!
YUP !
It is must to have IPL/SPL 1.xx to CID unlock the phone,so read the sticky carefully and follow the method correctly.
Cheers!
Thank you both for helping me. I do agree that one should read very carefully. No excuses. However, there is so much to read and so many postings to read from. Again, I do appreciate your help and now I will find the T-Mobile Origirnal 1.xx ROM to load and go from there.
I will post this and I hope I do not get flamed. These are just suggestions from a new person. Please accept them as such.
1. Why did WST display that my MDA was CID Unlocked when it really was not? Should there be an edit up front to check for the correct IPL/SPL?
2. Why did both ROMs go through a complete cycle and then display that the ROM was completely flashed when it was not. Should there be an edit up front to check to ensure that the CID is Unlocked rather than go through all the install?
3. Why did both ROMS leave the splash screen on the MDA? Is there a way to get ride of them?
I know, read the threads before you take any action. Thank you both! You are right.
1.
CIDkey: MODULESN
CID IMEI: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
CID: WIZTMU01
Phone is CID LOCKED
WST does NOT show that it is unlocked...
2. Yes, there is checking in the Original RUU, all RUU in our custom WM6 ROMs are modified to bypass the checking. That's why it won't work if you try to flash another Carrier ROM to your Wizard without replacing the RUU program.
3. Just flash your original ROM (IPL+SPL 1.xx), unlock, and flash it again then you will get back the original splash.

You are correct. One must never ASSUME that something is done. I wonder how many others have fallen into the same trap?
Latest status for me now is that I have:
IPL 1.08
SPL 2.26
01.0.9.10
2.26.10.2
So, I am back to the drawing board and trying to flash again. Tried WST and TNT and still did not take.
Maybe I am doomed to be with what is on the MDA.

There's no such trap, its just that the method is not correctly followed, either missing doing some step or doing a step incorrectly, resulting in not getting the things done correctly.
WST tool will not work in bootloaders ( multicolored screen) or in the splash screen stuck up.Secondly,TNT Rom is a wm6 rom,it won't flash or work with IPL 1.xx,it has to have IPL/SPL 2.xx and a CID unlocked phone.
after you flashed Button's Rom you got IPL 1.08 and SPL 2.26,reflash the Button's rom a couple of times more to make IPL/SPL 1.xx,it sometimes takes more then one flash to downgrade ipl/spl 1.xx,then apply lokiwiz02b to SIM/CID unlock the phone, upgrade to IPL/SPL 2.xx by flashing T-mobile 2.26 or official stock rom of your carrier AKU 2 Rom,only then upgrade to TNT series wm6 or 6.1 Rom.
Cheers!

Well I finally flashed TNT 19199 Pro and it did install completely. I did use Button ROM which installed 1.08, 2.26.010.9.10 and 2.26.10.2. Then I used WST to CID unlock. Then I flashed TNT.
The main reason for me trying to flash a new ROM was that my MDA Touch Screen capability is very sporadic. It works some times, but not all the time. The only way I can get it to work after the Touch Screen is no longer touch sensitive, is to re-flash. I know that is not practical, but I want to try to resolve this Touch Screen problem.
Even after this latest Flash of TNT, I am still experiencing the same Touch Screen problem of not recognizing using the stylist.
Any suggestions? I assume that it is a hardware (MDA) problem and not a software (ROM) problem.
