Flashing from mem card is a very tricky procedure . I havent done it since I first played with it over a year ago ... Let me see if I can find you a thread on it . I know I wrote a few clips about it on hofo ... I''m looking now.

is it worth it, by that i mean is it potentially risky?
not sure, but wat if i use bt to flash the rom? probably not, casues it will loose connectivity i would assume

All flashing is risky technically speaking . But you dont really have many choices ince usb is broken. Unless you plan to open the phone .. Havent located the correct software and directions yet as I have been in many posts.

Wont you make a how to for doing it . With pictures would be even better.

if you have a broken usb port...how do you intend to charge the battery? i've read about some people flashing from memory card...but it didn't seem like a completely safe approach...

You can get an external battery charger and it seems the usb port is going to be repaired.

i looked at the phone and the solder point which is a pin is damaged. so that will need some advanced soldering which i am not capable of doing. i got the external charger. but i just want to flash my phone if i can.

Advance soldering tip ... Get a piece of speaker wire. Take about 4 single strands out of it and twist together . Cut it neatly to the size you need . Now solder this in the area where the tip is messed up. Hopefully that helps you mate and we can begin flashing and charging normally.

Have I bricked my Wizard?

Hi folks,
I was attempting to flash Mr Clean's ROM onto my G4 Wizard the other day. All seemed to be fine, went to 100%, rebooted the phone, then booted up and started installing the cabs as it does on 1st boot.
Then the power just went off and I Cant boot it back up. I tried connecting the AC adaptor, nothing. SO I bought 4 AA batteries and put into my travel adaptor (takes 4 batteries and can charge the wizard) - after a few hours I got orange light on my wizard, but still wont charge/boot.
Any ideas please? Would a new battery let me re-flash it? Cos my friend has same fone, could I use his battery to save mine? If so what should I flash it with to be safe?
Cheers!!
Looks like the same I did, try to flash MrClean to a G4, and with that replacing the IPL/SPL... you got yourself a nice brick there.

oops!! thing is, i had mr clean on for quite a while before and it worked fine. not sure why it would suddenyl stop liking it? i guess its to do with the rom i put on after mr clean's??
so there is nothing i can do with this? no way of anyone repairing it, even at a cost (small!!)?
Why don't you contact the service provider & if it is under warranty they should repair/ replace it.
Just make sure you don't tell them the real reason why it turned into a brick!!!!

BIG Problem With My DiAAMONDDD!!

Hi im finished here
i bought my diamond from 1 week ago and its locked .. anyway i unlocked it and started to use it .. but after while issues have came up clearly .. the end key light is always on and never turn off .. also its over heated it really burns my hand when i hold it .. and once i open the backside cover and i removed the stylus and stick it near the magnet .. and guess what .. it came off .. all these problems on a new diamond used for only 1WEEK !!
i returned the device to the HTC Service Center .. and they gave me a letter to give it to the shop which i bought the diamond from .. when i went to them they said u lost the warranty cuz u unlocked it .. !! im not even satisfied with this device i hate it !!
i know u cant do somthing here but i love this forum and just wanted to remove this pain from my chest and get some suggestions from u ..
Sorry to ask... but which ROM did you put in after unlocking it? The magnet is fixable with some pasting stuff (be careful not to use something to abrassive, or you might melt the plastic).
Have you Hard Reset the phone after unlocking it?
Once the device works properly, you ain't gonna hate it.
Did you followed ALL THE NECESSARY steps to unlock it safely? Have you let the device near a source of heat and/or moist?
Which RADIO is installed? Which version is you Diamond? AUS, EUR, USA?
Calm down and describe the whole scenario. It's the only way the all-seeing eyes from xda can look properly into your problem.
Needless to say: the fact that you loose your warranty is a well known risk of having the device unlocked.
It took me a long 2 week period to dismiss any possible tech fault, and THEN I started RESEARCHING into unlocking.
As I live in Argentina, mine came already flashed, so that was easy on me to take the risk. But even then, I took all the possible cautions. Of course I'd be mad if something like that happened.

yes i did hard reset the phone ..
i dont hate the phone .. i just hate it for its flows and the fact that its a NEW and allready have many problems with it .. hardware problems heat and button doesnt work and unstable magnet !! that should not happen..

you automatically lose your warranty on ANY phone when you change your unlock your cell phone or tamper with the original software.
Try again but first flash official ROM and SPL.
I'm glad I could help you, a little at least.
Unlocking, HardSPL'ing and such UNofficial stuff are warranty breakers.
It's supposed to be updated with Official ROMs (dwnldd from HTC home)
AFAIK you can't brick your phone without having a large ammount of mistakes.
If you want a new one, re-flash it with the official branded ROM that came with your phone... and try to get the old spl back in... (I dunno if that's possible...)
That way you might be able to pass it as a broken one... the resellers should take it back, because they will have to send it overseas... physical damage to the phone should be repaired nevertheless.
The best luck with this, pal. Hope you don't end up stressed up.

If the warranty is voided as in this case it means the manufacturer can refuse repair wether it be a software fault or any physical damage.

Kaiser Repair

Hi all
I own a kaiser for about 2 years now and guess what? it's conking out on me now. first it says cant detect sim card n memory card n now the whole screen is just freakin white all over it; no longer touch sensitive. im now sure it is a hardware problem cuz there's this annoyin clickin sound each time i slide te keyboard (probably sumthin is broken) n i changed it stock rom so many times oready.(this was when i had the cant detect sim prob b4 the white screen)
what i want to know is whether u guys or gals out there know how much will it cost me to repair it? is it worth it? or shud i just buy a new phone.
i have the same problem to..
how was urs? did u repair it?
Get a flex cable replacement. Thats it. Dismantle the body as well as the screen part. In between, there's a flat flexible cable connecting the upper part to the lower. Should be available through a better repair centre (like mine, but i hate receiving spam as well as sending. PM me for price.)

Anybody interested in buyin one that has the same problem?
My girl got me a Fuze

[Q] any solution for this brick?

my captivate cannot turn on at all
NO galaxy s, NO atnt screen, NOTHING
dead like without battery (but i am sure the battery is half full cos i tried it on another phone)
computer won't recognize it when usb plugged
cannot charge at all, no charging screen
SO NO download mode, NO recovery mode
tried all those remove sim, remove sd, remove battery, turn on odin first, connect to pc, having 3 buttons (actually all possible combinations) press, power button release, everything i could found on forum...
the only thing i didn't try yet is the 301k resistor
have a fd making that for me, will try that soon
but i doubt it will work since the situation looks very bad
so my question is...
has anyone with the EXACT symptoms, able to unbrick at last?
if u r those who able to unbrick becos ur captivate was still able to turn on
please don't reply, i really really appreciate ur help
but sorry urs wasn't really "brick"
and those solutions aren't what i looking for
if you want to know what i did...
all i did was trying to flash to Cognition v2.3b6 from a stock 2.1 following the wiki
i watched it formatting, copying files, ... , and then it try to reboot
but instead of successful reboot it stay dead forever
great...
tested even with the 301k resistor now
no luck
Yeah sorry man. Looks like you got a bad phone. Time to call att
i wish, but i didn't buy it from atnt
no receipt no shxx
and i am in canada
You know you still have the manufacturer's warranty. One year. Call Samsung and they will refurb it for ya. I got mine in Canada too. No receipt required as long as you have the original barcode on your box.

I just get the same problem.
waiting for the solution too.
Have you tried a new battery?
This is my captivate. There are many like it but this one is mine.
your Phone most likely not bricked.
I Actually had this same problem. I really thought my phone was bricked. I would pull the battery and put it back in and nothing but a black screen. I ended up having to go into download mode from another computer. If you do this install drivers first and try to go into download by pushing both volume up and down at the same time then plug in usb cable to computer with odin opened up.

it works
I end up took it to some cell repair shop to fix it
they said they had to replace a chip inside
and it cost me cad$150
anyway now it's fixed
but i think i am going to sell it since i don't have much faith in it anymore
i can't keep a phone that i can't flash it just becos it might never boot again
to those who have the same problem
GOOD LUCK
Doesn't it really work with the JIG?
If it doesn't work, I would not try.
If I just give the phone back to the ATT to fix it or change another one, how much should I pay?
thanks.

Bricked My Nexus - My Options?

So... long story short, I bricked my Nexus One. There is no LED while charging and the phone doesn't boot. I figured if I replace the motherboard, the phone will start functioning again.
From my understanding, HTC charges $196 to replace this piece, which is quite expensive considering I paid $175 for this Nexus. But I found a part on eBay which I think is the motherboard, but I want to make sure before I purchase it.

I would appreciate if anybody can confirm that this is the motherboard and if it will resurrect my phone.

Do you know where I can source the motherboard?
I might try buzzing HTC tomorrow for a warranty repair (or swap) for a different issue with the phone. Maybe I can escalate it to the proper person if they give me any problems.
I have searched almost everywhere for it; and it's nowhere to be found.
My options remain:
1) Hope HTC replaces my Nexus for another issue
2) Have HTC replace my motherboard for $196
3) Replace it myself, assuming I can source one
4) JTAG it back to life
5) Sell it in its current state
Do you mind sharing the story of how you bricked it? I'm really interested.
google a method to un brick it. One hacker actually did that already. It might help you.

I unrooted the phone and started proceeding with the respective steps. I just flashed CW recovery and was using it to flash gapps, CM, and a radio image. I then rebooted the phone, but it never turned on.
Now, I have a beautiful non-functioning Nexus One! Does not boot at all, no LED when hooking up to A/C, nothing...

Well I read the article long ago and don't remember exactly what the name of it is. But one hacker used his usb cable to trick his nexus one to wake up and it was successful.

Update: I called HTC and mentioned a completely unrelated issue, which was a small speck of dust under the screen. I chose the swap option and didn't mention the phone didn't turn on, or was bricked. I just checked the tracking update and it says "service is completed." Checked my card; nothing was charged.
GO HTC! They are the absolute best!
u probably bricked it with the radio update.. did you check the MD5 checksum before u flashed it? And was it even a proper Radio?
You need to be very careful while flashing a radio... it's like flashing a BIOS on a PC.
You should flash it through fastboot and not recovery, it's safer.
Just so you know when you try to do it again.
