I have already moved to Windows 7, which is very stable and much faster then Windows Vista...
There are some problems with the Windows 7 and USPL...
Is there a configuration guide, which explains the procedure, how I can manage the USB connection problems within Windows 7.

You need to update the USB drivers.
The following post will explain how. This works for Windows 7 aswell as Vista.

One thing to note, you have to put your phone in bootloader and connect it via USB for it to show the Mobile Device - HTC USB in Device Manager.
One laptop I was on I knew I had to apply the fix on so hadn't tried without updating, and took me forever to find out why I couldn't find the driver to update.
I used a small program called "Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider 1.3b".
Its freeware for using unsigned drivers in Windows 7.
I'm using Windows 7 x64 and USPL works perfect now.

Had to upgrade my Windows 7 to build 7077 first....!
Then it worked @ 1st try... ;-)

I have problem with installing driver on Windows 7 64-bit (build 7077). I always get error: This device cannot start (Code 10). Does anyone have solution for it?
I had to get to 7077 as well, i couldnt make it start on 7057 or 7068 either.
I just solved it, but I can't explained how... I tried it again and again.. did some restart of HD and of Windows 7 and finally I was successfull . My tip is to re-connect HD on USB before installation...
I use 7077 x64 and no issues with it whatsoever. I had no issues at all with any build and actually it gets the drivers and Windows Mobile Device Center automatically for me. Check your system drivers like chipset and usb controller for updated versions maybe?

I have been testing every release of Windows 7 since 7000 and as long as you install WMDC (Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1) and then update the HTC USB Sync driver (put your phone into bootloader and update the driver in device manager with the one from the guide in my signature) you won't have any issues flashing roms. This is for both 32 and 64-bit versions of Windows 7.
I had many difficulties to install windows 7 to my shift, maybe because of my USB stick. And then every guide was a little bit complicated - too many instructions, too many steps, too easy to make a mistake and then go back to the beginning..
Didn't want to buy an external dvd-drive either..
Anyway, all this before I found this article.

In this method we install Windows 7 on a clean partition like the normal DVD boot method. Only change is we don’t use a DVD drive in this guide. Please follow the below instructions carefully and don’t skip any steps to make things quickly!
1. Download the Windows 7 ISO files from Microsoft. I hope you have already downloaded one.
2. Download and install Virtual Clone Drive from http://www.slysoft.com/en/download.html
3. Firstly, go to the directory where you have saved Windows 7 ISO file. Right-click on the ISO file, select Open with and then select “Mount files with Virtual Clone Drive” to mount your ISO file.
4. Go back to My Computer (or Just Computer) and then double-click on the Virtual Clone Drive icon to start Windows 7 installation process.

5. Next, follow the normal Windows 7 installation procedure to finish the installation. Windows may restart during the install process. Worry not, everything will go fine.

There already are some from microsoft availabale via the link in the personalize menu. Have you already downloaded those ?
Unfortunately those are aero themes, I'd like some NON-aero, to fit with both resolutions.
ok, now the short way to make a bootable USB Disk to install Vista/7
cmd
diskpart
list disk
select disk $ [where $ is the number of the USB Disk listed in the list disk command]
clean
create partition primary
select partition 1
active
format fs=ntfs quick label="InstallUSB"
assign
exit
exit
Copy the content of your Installation Disk on USB and boot from it, just simple as that
do this method install the new windwos over the existing windows, or on a new partition in HDD.
As far as I know, no version of windows allows installing of a new windows except from booting.

I just tried it out and it installs it over the existing running windows, doesn´t matter if it was downgraded to xp, or already upgraded to 7, it will install a new and fresh copy of Win 7 in your local drive, regardless of the existing vista recovery partion, which can be used in any time... (I hope to get ride of it once Win 7 final version comes out...)
When the installation is complete, a folder called "old windows" saves all the files from the preivous running operating system, bt since it´s over 10 GB, I suggest you erase it..
Win 7 is fantastic!! I have my shift now running both Internet Explorer 8 and Opera, Office Pro 2007, Skype, Live Messenger, Eset Smart Security 4, Adobe Reader, and more.... as smooth as butter

I upgraded my hard drive then changed to windows 7 with a clean install. It is amazing how much better my shift runs now that it is on W7. It is really worth it to upgrade.

i upgraded to windows 7 ultimate and changed the drivers compitibility mode to windows vista service pack 1 and they all run smoothly but except the wifi and bluetooth, also the shag control doesn't run
would you please advise?

Yesterday I got a HTC touch diamond. I'm very new user of windows mobile.
I'm getting trouble to install software in my windows mobile. for example when I try to install "skypemobile" it shows skypemobile is not a valid pocket pc application!!, When I try to install "total control" it shows skypemobile is not a valid pocket pc application. !!
Can u please guide me how to install them properly?

exe based installers generally aren't run on the phone itself, what you do for them is connect your phone to your PC and make sure the phone is shown as connected in either ActiveSync (Windows XP and 2000) or Mobile Device Centre (Vista and Windows 7). You then run the exe file on your actual PC and ActiveSync/Mobile Device Centre will autopmatically handle the installation across onto the phone.

have a tilt with windows mobile version 6 and trying to get up to 6.1 but after i download the update and try to run it from the phone it says its not a valid application.

i want to put a custom rom in my HD7. When i run DFT_RSPL_WP7FG2_LAUNCH.exe it gives me an error saying "the program can't start because RAPI.dll is missing form your computer". Please i need some help because i am new to flashing roms although i have read about flashing roms here but this will be my first time.
my PC OS is windows 8. zune recognizes my phone as i have been synchronizing music and videos

Your solution, use a virtual computer with windows 7 or xp, and do whatever you want with the phone. that dll is not part of Windows 8.

i go t a computer running windows XP so i ran DFT_RSPL_WP7FG1_LAUNCH and it did not show that rapi.dll error but DFT_RSPL_WP7FG1_LAUNCH does not detect my HD7. i have Active Sync installed. i went to device manager and i does not fully recognize my device. so i updated the driver via internet. it updated then requested for zune. and zune will not run on xp so am stuck.
Please help me.
