Autostart from SD-Card, prevent welcome.exe Loading - PDA2, XDA IIi, 2020i General

Hi,
I've an Alpine with a broken Digitizer. But working with the PDA was possible anyway - I phoned and wrote SMS.
Now, I accidently made a Hardreset and now everytime I switch on the device, welcome.exe wants me to calibrate the display. But calibrating fails because of the broken digitizer and I'm in a never-ending-loop.
I won't believe that the device is completely broken now just because of a stupid mis-designed piece of software!
Is there any way to prevent welcome.exe from loading? To remove welcome.exe?
Another idea: I've a SpbBackup .exe Backup on SD-Card. If it would be possible to auto-run this backup I could restore the device.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Opening xBackup files

Hi
My XDAIIi is stuck on the align screen. To try and repair it I recently downloaded a new ROM version and this briefly seemed to work, but alas the screen froze and when I hard reset it returned to the align screen problem. Any suggestions? (I am able to access the phone through cradle connection). If this is irrepairable then I need to access my contacts on the phone which are saved as a xBackup file on the memory storage card. Is there a program I can use to get my contacts off the phone?
Thanks
Look at http://pocketpcmag.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=16922 - there is a tool called xBackup extract from "Menneisyys".

File recovery possible?

I've got the Kaiser with Dutty's windows 6.1 rom and somehow it froze on the startup, so I saw myself to hardreset although I knew, that I had some quite important notes and contacts which are unfortunately not in my backup.
Is there any possibility to recover files on my Kaiser?
Thanks folks
Where exactly did the device freeze? A lot of the time a soft reset will fix these problems.
If the only place the files were saved was on the device memory, and you preformed a hard reset, the files are gone.
Sorry for your loss

Sprite Backup Problem

Ok so this morning I go to backup my phone since I haven't done it in 4 months. I open up the Sprite Backup program and set it to back up the phone. It restarts the phone (as usual) and begins the backup process on startup. Then, when it finishes, it restarts again but it won't boot up. It goes to a white error screen that says something along the lines of "A program with an unsigned cab has been installed" or something like that and says to "press the SEND button to reset the phone or any other button to cancel. This operation will delete all of your personal data and reset the phone to factory settings."
Uh-oh, I thought... So I hit another button because I don't want to lose all of my personal data. It stayed on the white AT&T screen with the R, G, and D numbers on the bottom right corner.
After resetting and taking out the battery and resetting again, nothing changed. So I popped the microSD card into my computer to see if SpriteBackup actually finished backing up the system. Hey! It was there, about 62MB in size and it was a whole file (no corruption), with today's date and the time that I backed it up. So I said, alright, let me just turn on the phone, press the SEND button to reset it, and then just restore the Backup file with SpriteBackup. I did it and it restored it, but after rebooting, the initial configuration screen for the phone kicks in again (the one that comes up when you first buy the phone) and it reinstalls the "stock" programs and settings.
Almost everything is back to normal, except:
I'm missing some contacts that I've added within the past 3 months.
I'm missing some text/MMS messages since May 19th...
In the "Remove Programs" windows, there are only 5 programs installed, the ones that come stock with the phone.
Does anyone know a solution? Or if there's a way to transfer my contacts/messages out of the SpriteBackup file to my computer, i might as well just wipe my phone clean, install an updated rom, and start from scratch.
All I need are all my contacts and my messages. Does anyone know where they are located?
Thanks in advance..
I have my backups on another PC so I can't give you step by step indications looking at the screen. If your backup was successful, I see two options:
1) on device: open Sprite Backup, select restore, on the backup selection screen check the folders you want to restore ("email", "personal databases" …) and restore
2) on PC with full Sprite Backup version: copy the backup file to the PC, open it on the PC with Sprite Explorer, select the folders/files to restore (I think contacts/appointments/tasks are under "Database/pim.vol" and text/MMS maybe under a "mail" folder). Good luck.

Out of the box, Sprite Bkup LOOP!
Hello,
First time user for Sprite Backup!
I tried to do a "Sprite Backup" to a 2 GB miniSD card, with "600 MB" FREE space on card, from ATT WM 6.1 on Kaiser loaded from "factory"" ROM and Radio.....loaded with Sprite Backup. Not an added software.
When asked to confirm placement of backup to SD card and Sprite will restart / reboot , YES OR NO I ticked YES.... Kaiser turned off.. Back on to ATT white splash screen ...Than....Windows Mobile Splash Screen (the GREEN one for WM6.1) . . . than shuts it off again.... turned back on ATT Splash screen than WM Green Screen... than shut off again....than on and off and off and on. I have to remove the battery to stop the LOOP!
SO now I can NOT get to WM, nor connect with ActiveSinc, nor do an Update, nor re-flash to original ROM from miniSD, nor work with Mitty.exe...
I either have the "Loop de Loop" or I can Camera plus ON/ off to Tri-screen with USB on screen.... but no re-flash ECT.....
I had a FULL battery with charger plugged in charging the Kaiser, so there was NO power interruption or power loss. And I did not have any time to interrupt the Sprite Backup.
Please HELP me restore my Kaiser, I am is desperate need of this for work....
PS I can not access the Kaiser to SEE what the Sprite Backup version it is in the ATT Ce 05.5.2.1620 (Build 18.125.0.4.2)
Rom 1.57.502.2 (with ATT Factory Upgrade to 6.1....
ALL FACTORY ATT ROM and Radio installed.
I didn't take Note of the Sprite version BEFORE the "Loop de Loop" happened.. Sorry I don't know the factory installed version?
FIXED!
Somehow with KAISERUNLOCKER dot exe ? But the prgm only made 2 out of the 3 steps so I didn't think it worked .... UNTIL....
I could Hard reset than run Att/Cingluar WWE updated ROM and everything worked. HOOOO RAH!
Sprite support didn't reply even after 5 DAYS!
Not even a "sorry to hear you are having problems"... ETC
So I wouldn't buy from them...... Buy and use at your own risk!
Hope that HELPS someone!
Later.....

Another cry topic? WM6 bug

Yes, probably topic #1000 about this. But PLEASE keep reading.
I got the famous WM6 bug/error/whatever.
Symptoms:
- Access is denied error message when trying to copy files to the phone using ActiveSync.
- Access is denied error message when trying to delete any files or copy files between folders and/or the storage card on the phone.
- You do not have permission to download that type of file in Internet Explorer when trying to download any files.
- No programs show up in Remove Programs.
- Installation Unsuccessful error messages when trying to install any applications.
- ActiveSync will fail with an error message that you should start the troubleshooter.
It might have something to do with F-Secure I installed, and tried to uninstall (which ofcourse is impossible, since no programs show up in my installed programs/delete programs list). However, tons of ppl have had the same problem before so it has probably have nothing to do with F-Secure.
Now about the famous fix (which can be found for example here).
It's not working for me. Yes I tried this fix like 10 times, exactly like its written, sometimes a bit different, not using bold but Italic etc etc. I find #12 an inconsitency for example, since shutting it down and THEN doing a soft reset doesnt make any sense to me. Anyway I did like it said, and I still have all the problems I've had before.
My question: is there anyone that has had this bug before and DID fix it, or is there anyone that knows how to fix it after all? Or, last but not least, is there someone willing to rewrite the fix in uber noobish language, step by step, that might help me fix this. I'm quite desperate and totally not looking forward to hard reset my device. Thnx in advance
Some device information:
ROM Version: 1.93.404.1 NLD
ROM Datum: 07/10/08
Radioversion: 1.00.25.05
Protocolversion: 52.29.25.12H
Dutch provider Hi
No new roms installed, flashed stuff nothing. Just tweaks and programs installed.
I'm wondering if I should leave it like it is now and be patient for replys, or move/recreate this topic somewhere more "windows mobile"-like, since it might have something to do with the OS itself, and not just my kind of mobilephone ...
Sorry to hear your problem. I'd came across the problem once and YES the fix doesn't cure all the problem.
Luckily i've backup my PDA using sprite before the problem starts. What i did: 1) Hard reset the device. It will CLEAR ALL the memory and restore to factory default.
2) Reapply my first backup. (if you have it, if not, just reinstall everything). Remember though your backup in activesync might not be sync again! - that what happen to me. Luckily i have a copy in my Hermes.
3) My PDA is back to normal!
4) Careful when you modding your PDA. Just don't get mad to those that tries to help, some might not work on your device depends on what ROM you're/they're using. If anything goes wrong, just accept the fact that its your fault and -ALWAYS- have a backup ready. Just Hard Reset.
And I'm sure you're familiar with the lack-of-a-backup-till-I-need-it thingy ... I'll go mayhem on MSWM if I'm losing my photos and texts ... Contacts I can copy or just rewrite, but damn, my photos :s Thnx for the reply tho.
If you keep it synced with your computer/outlook, there shouldn't be much of a problem.
Ever since my first WM device, I've kept a list of all changed settings, etc. A hard reset isn't really that big of a deal. You do it, reinstall a few apps you had, change some settings from the cheat sheet you keep, sync with outlook, and you're good to go.
Think of your Diamond as a slave device to your regular PC. Sure, you apply a few tweaks to it, but other than that all your data should be on your PC.
Yeah and foto's and text messages and contacts ?? All gone, hard reset not that much of a deal I find it quite frustrating =(

how to disable align screen after hard reset if the touch screen cracked

how to disable align screen after hard reset if the touch screen cracked i have created a root file (welcome.not) in sd card but no use
any help please my touch screen not working how to bypass this align screen

Several threads on the issue and different bypasses. You can either use the method of putting a file in your memory card or cooking a ROM that bypasses it.

you can reflash another rom by going to the bootloader manually. http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_Resets
