is there any way; if i am at home, to have a SIP switch so that calls will come through voIP instead of the regular calling so that I don't use minutes?

search for voip.cab and install it. then you can choose if you want to use voip when wifi is enabled.
good luck.

Hi all,
due to the fact my provider has now started charging me for accessing voicemails and will not include voicemail access in my inclusive minutes I have turned off the voicemail answerphone on my t-Mobile MDA Vario III (Kaiser), what i'm looking for is a programto run on the PDA that will answer a call after say 45 seconds of ringing and act like an answerphone and record any messages direct to the PDA. I have searched for answerphone but without luck and the only program I can find via Google is iSecretary, but that aparantly isn't fully compatable with the Kaiser?. Has anybody got any ideas as to anything else available that will do this job, preferably free but if I have to pay for the ideal solution so be it.
Thanks

I'm afraid there is no solution, because of the limitations of the Kaiser (and many HTC devices) with the incoming sound.... (mic only)
A workaround should be available in iSecretary, recording loudspeaker -> mic, but this application crashed a lot on my Kaiser so removed it...
Also because it is not a nice solution anyway...everybody can 'enjoy' the voice message.

OK, I hurried myself to answer, it was still the leftover text making me think that the answer wasn't helpful, as seeing the thread's subject first made me hope to actually find something helpful (wondering why there isn't such an application anyway). Sorry.

According to iSecretary the TYTNII is only "half supported" but it looks it would do everything you want.
- lifts the handset automatically when the preset time expires;
- plays the file to the caller;
- records your caller's message within the limits of preset time and hangs up;

check your voicemail using a landline...
I guess i'll have to try isecretary and see if it does enough to get me going, unfortunatly checking voicemail via a landline is not an option in my situation.
Thanks for all the replies so far.

just be prepared.... you will be disappointed...
I did try iSecretary and it worked on some of the calls, about 2 out of the 10 I made to my phone. And like "Optimistisch_nl" said: the callers voice is on loudspeaker while leaving the message. Also the message that I recorded to tell people to leave a message doesn't play either for the caller.
Sorry dude, I'm also still looking for something like this and will let you know if I find a solution.

You won't find a solution unless you buy e.g. a Nokia.....
Guys, ALWAYS check out the Wiki first. I've answered this very question at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde...nswering machine for Windows Mobile released!
(also see the group http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Audio and call recording, answering machines )
In a word: no, don't expect much - WinMo is, by default, pretty much useless when it comes to local (!!) nswering machines. Should you really need them, go for Symbian.

I was also told that file sharing on WM is not possible by "CLEVER" people, but hypest told me that by setting up a ftp server on the ppc you could share folders that would be visible and able to be browsed by another ppc. Now if that is not "file sharing" then lets call it "sharing files". It works just the same as normal file sharing on Windows.
Where there is a will there is a way.

You should have asked me I've even reviewed & thoroughly compared FTP clients (along with mentioning FTP servers) for Windows Mobile - search for example for 'vxFtp' in the Wiki.
Well I am stumped and could do with some help.
I am using Alex.v5.WM61.HTC.302.Home.ROM.beta2 with vodaphone UK radio on Orange UK network.
I just cannot get video calling to work. I can get the option to do it but the phone just does a normal call. Both my phone and the receiving phone are in a 3G area.
I have tried the Nadavi skin and about 5 others.
Is it something in this ROM that stops video calling working? Is there a registry hack to enable it?
I have tried advanced config 1.1 and 2.0 to set and unset video dialling enable and phone skins etc.
Any advice will be most welcome.
Thank you.
Try this pal...Good luck from Blackpool..
Thank you for the reply but still 'no go'. It seems that the dialler skin in the Alex ROM takes priority over any others I install.
Is there a way to change priority order of the installed Dialers?

Sorry I don't know pal but the above works with the NavDutty Dialler.
have you checked w/ ur mobile carrier? some operators need the subscribers to activate the 3G/VideoCall function as an optional package of the plan.
also, try to restore to default skin, should you have upgraded it previously. good luck.
Video calling works with the Dutty ROM so it is not that.

Video Calling will only let you see the other person (with compatible 3G phone) to see you and vice versa. This will not allow you to play a clip and let the other person watch.
Sorry.
Wait, Im a little lost.. What does this program do? Also, do I need to pay att for their video share package?

Can you elaborate a little .... "answer intercom or page someone"????
What are you trying to do?
I guess you want it to work as a walkie-talkie?

at&t's version of this is the Push to Talk. Costs extra.
Other than that I suppose you could try and setup Skype on your phone, but that's not really walky-talk type stuff. But it avoids voice charges.
may not be what you're after but i was playing with parlingo yesterday specifically the voice chat and when i sent a "voice note" to my buddy it played the message without him doing anything. now we already had a chat session opened (didn't try without it being started)
It's possible

If you've got a bluetooth-enabled intercom, it's possible. You could do it with a wire as well.
As for paging someone, you could text them.
If you want a walkie-talkie style device, there's a program out there (I forget it's name, but found it using Google) that lets you do this using the WiFi connection on your phone. Works okay even with full-duplex voice communications.
If you give us some more information on what you want to achieve, I'm sure we'll be able to help more.

4Talk is the one that I was referring to earlier. Thanks for pointing me back at it!
It'll work over infrastructure or ad-hoc wifi networks, so with a bit of configuration you can get it to work just like a walkie-talkie.
Hi,
I try using Advance Configuration Tool to prevent GPRS from connecting automatically but it fails..
Is there any application that can do this?
Thanks!

hahaha, it's kinda easy to set it actually, i've posted the same question here before but no one answering my question, but then i found the way to stop it myself. try if this helps...
Start>Setting>Connection>Connections
you should see there are 2 conections in this page if i am not mistaken, one is from your service provider's internet setting and another 1 is your work network, right?
then, click on the "Advanced" beside "Tasks" and click "Select Networks", choose the "Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using:" from your service provider to "My work Network", done!!!
hopes this helps...
On some roms choosing My work network doesn't work anymore as blocking.
There is an application called Nodata when you can choose what profiles you want to block ( mms, gprs, etc. etc.)
Hi where can i get the Nodata application?
Thanks!
