WM5 on CDMA BA - No Radio Needed... - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

Ok, I've seen this question posted deep within other threads, but I thought I'd start this up to gain some exposure to the question:
I understand that the WM5 roms cannot run on the CDMA BA because of problems without a sim card/with a cdma radio...
But- Can the WM5 roms run on a CDMA BA that no longer needs a radio?
I have a new device now and have just been using my xv6600 as a PMP/GPS - I think this would be a lot better as a WM5 pda
Anyone try this?

phone identification and radio help

hi... im new pda user here, my autry just give me 1 used qtek 9100(im poor,no money buy pda phone), and i know it same with wizard cox the design is totally same.
the phone is using 2.17 rom(my autry used it for 1 and half years)and i think is quite outdated. beside that, the phone come with no radio function.
i plan to flash to the lastest rom myself, and im supprise that the lastest rom include radio function, i would like to ask is that my phone can support it, and if i success upgrade it, then my phone will have radio function, rite?? it no need require external hardware for radio function??
beside that, i found that some forumer mention their wizard is G3, or G4, wat the different for it?? and my phone belong to which G??
no 1 can help me??
The 'radio' that is mentioned in relation to new roms has nothing to do with AM/FM radio functionality. The radio rom is the one that handles the communication with the GSM/CDMA network. It will not allow you to listen to broadcasts from radio stations; the Wizard don't have that functionality.
As for the G3/G4, this has been mentioned many times already, e.g. here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=281241

radio updrade?

ok..i'm a barnd new Wing convert. I previously used an MDA for about a year and spent countless hours tweaking it to get WM6 to run with very few problems. My question about the Wing is can I upgrade the radio to get a better signal. I seem to have a problem with reception relative to the MDA with 2.19 UK radio.
any suggestions?
as far as i know, no radio upgrades have yet been released for the herald/wing.
I'm pretty sure they'll release one if a problem is found though.
My Wing has WAY better reception than my MDA ever did. But, he's right. At the moment, there aren't any radio updates since there hasn't been any real problems with it.
any updates?
where did you guys find a radio program period? im kind of curious about that

How to change the Radio

Currently, my radio version is 1.54.07.00.
I tried to flash the other radio rom but the radio version didn't change.
Is there a way to change to 1.54.00 or 1.54.01??
Just curious.

Luckily, No
I've used the KaiserCustomRUU (dload from Kaiser thread) and a Hermes Radio ROM (Hermes wiki) and the ones i've tried work fine (the latter ones).
currently using 1.54.30.10 and works a treat (t-mobile uk) - most stable rom i've used on my treo (connectivity/hsdpa).
may sound like a strange way to flash the radio but works for me... (the hermes shares a lot in common with the treo processor/radio wise)

Thanks for the info, i just put in 1.54.30.10 and so far it works, cant tell et if it's an better then the original radio. What do you think? An better better? reception?
is one of the better ones i've tested.
thing is there are so many outside variables (location/time of day/everthing really) that it takes a couple of weeks to fully test the one that suits your area/needs (push mail/hsdpa which I both use heavilly)
have to charge my treo every evening with most of the roms but found the connectivity on this to be the best i've come across - maybe diff in the states.
if only I could go back to GPRS and no push email I could have a battery that lasts 3 days - unfortunately that ain't going to happen..
plus i'm a firm believer of higher version numbers - windows vista excluded
oh yeah,
to answer your question - find reception and data better...
I agree the new Radio 1.54.30.10 is not just better but NOTICABLY BETTER. I have been using the old radios versions at my house and I struggle with no signal to 2 bars to no signal again. Now I get 2 solid bars and sometimes 3 bars. The last phone that I had with great signal like that was the Razr V3.
the new Radio 1.54.30.10
Where can i download the new Radio 1.54.30.10 ?
Thanks...
I found it from Hermes - is it the same?

Should I upgrad my Tmobile MDA?

There is internet phone function in WM6, so I like to upgrade my mda in order to use Gizmo project. If I upgrade it, will the system be very slow for the MDA with only 200 mhz CPU?
Well Its Your Choice
Well, trying is ever the development thingy issues... too much roms for try right here
with the lasts releases i cant see the difference between wm6.1 and wm5
Most of the programs that runs on wm5 runs too in wm 6 and wm6.1

I know, there is a lot to read, thank you!
SO which is the most stable rom for 6.1 with internet phone?

hermes radio overwrite anyone

Has anyone been able to overwrite the Hermes radios on Treo 750? I use 154.07.00 and when it completely looses signal it will no regain it without a soft reset.
So far, there have been no documented reports and written method to overwrite the Hermes radio's. I myself fell victim to it and it ultimately led me to just switch it with another Treo. I recall some weren't even able to use mtty successfully either.
I sure hope everyone would stop recommending those radio's, sure the Hermes and the Treo 750 may share some similarities, but what was made for one just can't be made for another. That and maybe Palm has something to do with it
Hope you're able to find a remedy for your radio. It sure sucks having those Hermes radio's...
By the way, didn't anyone realize that those Hermes radio's have those different codes at the end of their #? (something like x.xx.xx.10 and x.xx.xx.01, note the last two numbers) I went digging in the Hermes section and it seems those last 2 codes are device dependent. All the more reason why those Hermes radio's just aren't cutting it for our Treo's...
