Treo 750 WM6 for Australia - what the hell?? - Palm Treo 750 ROM Development

when news first broke about OFFICIAL Rom upgrades (the ATT one flying about was/is not official) came out in the beginning of August, they said it would start in Australia exclusive to Three in the middle of August. And it would then be available to the rest of the networks around australia in the beginning of September
it's now 4th of Sept 2007. and palm's website STILL says Coming Soon for Three's upgrade. and we've already seen UK's Vodafone rom out since!!!
i mean seriously... what the hell is wrong with these people? i mean i really like the product but seriously the support is extremely disappointing

Sad but it's true
I don't understand PALM, I really don't....
When they start to banckrupt maybe they will awake.
The impression that I have is that they like to destroy their own company!
They destroyed PALM OS. Now they release FOLEO to help to destroy!
Sooner or later we (faithfull users of Treo) will get sick of their "burocracy" and we will get way too!
When it happens, don't blame us PALM and don't blame the market!
Such a shame....

It hasn't even been released in the states yet or even for their unbranded 750, so I don't know what all the whining is about. Palm has routinely been late in providing firmware updates for their treo's, so this really isn't anything new. Personally, I would have expected to see all the updates released by now, but something is apparently holding them up.

There is now a link on the support page, so it is not long now.

well spotted! surely Palm wont leave that link there that leads to an error page for long...could it?

yes it's finally up!!!
http://www.palm.com/au/support/treo750/downloads/wm6update.html
man did THAT take long! maybe they heard my rant hahahaha

What is the difference between the 3 version and the Vodafone (when it comes out)?
I currently used the bootloader to install WM6 on mine and my Treo was Telstra became Vodafone..
If I install this, would it matter or should I wait for the Vodafone or Telstra one?

help!!!
I downloaded the file and tried to update my Treo but it said Unsupported Device..
I have: TREO750-1.15ROW
Can i just extract the CHEEIMG.nbh file and use the bootloader method?

anyone have the direct download link for those of us not in australia?
EDIT: nevermind...appears to be here:

Just loaded it using the boot loader method..
Saw that that under the Band selection network type is only UMTS, no option for GSM.. and Band is only Europe, US and Australia! Does that mean I cant use this in Asia?

No option for GSM? What bands are available under band selection?

it only lists US, Europe and Australia.. that's it.. the list are actually just those names and not the usual GSM(900+1800) or UMTS(2100) etc..

interesting..... 1.47.02 is the vodafone one.
I'm gonna try flashing my ATT branded 750 to check this version out.
BTW...I *think* the asian bands are the same as the european bands.

Oh does that mean the 3 Aust version is the more up to date one?
I have only noticed the change in the option with this version. Maybe it is the up to date version..
I am waiting on the release of the Vodafone one..

Um...the vodafone one has been released to europe and the uk, didn't you check the other thread?

Alrighty....looks like this:
firmware version 1.52.30.00
Carrier DB: 297
WM6 version: 5.2.1239 (Build 17746.0.2.4)
And this one seems slightly snappier than the vodafone or ATT ROMs, however I have to restore my apps and stuff to be sure.

The firmware version seems to be later.....also I can confirm the "US, Europe, Australia" thing. The default rom comes with one or two bits of 3 software installed. I just modified the extrom to put the ATT software in there and am rebooting. I'll let you know.

Just checked now and not available for me.
Sick of this phone. No signal for long periods of time, dropping calls, losing sync with my Exchange Server, duplicating contacts ad-nauseam.
None of this happened to my Touch Pro 2.
Please HTC, convert me to Android properly or lose me forever.
do you have to be connected to wifi to download this or will it work over HSDPA?
I've rooted my legend and on a 1.31 rom but am not seeing the update?
I got my update over HSDPA after forcing the phone to search. I'm not rooted, stock VF firmware. If your handset is not a VF branded handset or your running a different rom you'll need to get the HTC version.
Just had a prompt that an update is available.
Hope it resolves the dreadful coverage problem I'm having.
HMMM
I tried all, WM6.5 HD2, iphone 3GS Rim Palm etc but nothing runs so smooth as my htc Legend with Android.
After the OTA update my vodafone branded htc Legend runs still perfect as it did before the update, but now with Layer functionality...
Anyone who says his legend Lags or bad reception.. should bring the handset back because it must be faulty or he/she must live in a country with bad reception.
I love the Legend Alu casing and the great touchscreen, I tried all toprange HTC/samsung etc phones but none compares to this great phone!!
Chapeau to Google and Htc.. great phone and great OS!!
Here is the .exe for this file.
I know it also contains the SPA Language.

Please, can you post your compilation number? Its under "Settings -> About phone -> Software Information -> Compilation Number"
I'm just trying to figure out if its the same rom that Vodafone is deploying in Spain.
I have flashed with 1.31 stock rom but would prefer to have a branded one and I think the new conflipper rom for Vodafone UK could be the same for Vodafone Spain.
Thanks

[Q] Which country will I get the update from?

I have a 2x bought in Spain but with the latest UK stock rom and a UK sim because it's where I live. I try every day to check for new updates but it finds none saying I'm updated to the last version.
Will I get the update when it's released in the UK or when Vodafone Spain releases it?

Most probably you will get it from Spain, since updates are related to your phones IMEI and baseband!

Fortunately, all official ROMs are multilingual, so I suggest these few hints to get official ICS on your phone. It works very well, I use it untill CM10 and CM10.1 get the calls right.

I've always been a little weary about flashing roms. I just like having the ability to update via kies. I'll probably look into soon though. My little Note isn't even a year old yet D;

N960U1 in the UK

Hi all,
I bought an unlocked note 9 from eBay which arrived today. I got it set up and went to begin installing a different firmware to be able to get the one UI update - only to find out it's a N960U1! I'm in the UK so was expecting/hoping for a N960F.
It's all working, calls work, I've pulled over 3GB of data today all nice and fast, texts working etc. If I was the 'average user' I wouldn't know that it's not a UK one...
My question is, am I likely to hit any road blocks? As long as the radios all work I can't imagine there being any and the play store has all the apps I use available. I'm just wondering if I'm at any advantage/disadvantage?
Thanks

I'm on the same boat (I mean, a similar situation because I'm not in the UK I'm in El Salvador). When I received my phone I started looking for the new UI, but I noticed that I had a very old android build version (I was in September security patch, I received my phone February 11) I started reading about and found out that N960U is the branded version of the note in the US. I wanted to update by Odin to one UI but I was afraid to get my phone carrier locked so after reading a lot more, I found that you can update using the right firmware for the phone (N960U) you don't lose carrier unlock and in my case after installing updates, I don't even have any bloatware.
Now, after this context history, I can tell you that the only thing that will affects is any "radio band enhance" or "carrier feature" and that's because you will not be able to install any UK carrier software to that version because N960U and N960F are different hardware, not just software.
Maybe there is another road block that is about updates, I'm on 9.0 but with January security patch, I have not received any new update. To be hones I'm not sure if there is a new one, so I need to wait to confirm that OTA updates are working for me, if not I will take the time to update by ODIN again haha so that's not something that will drive me crazy, and also related to this I think that N960U android versions are coming faster than I thought, some of my friends with N9600 are still stuck on 8.1
If you want to upgrade go to the following thread, there you will have enough information to update.

Awesome, nice one dude
I used Odin on my previous S8+ to be able to install the one UI beta and that worked fine. Though it did come with a couple of apps that were a part of that carriers firmware (three UK)
I'm aware that the F uses an exynos processor whereas the U is Snapdragon and have seen a couple of guides already. Though they use AT&T firmware and, from what I've seen, have bloatware that would literally be useless to me.
I'll have a look at the guide you linked.
I'd like to have one UI again, but can happily live with the Samsung experience UI if I had to.

Option1:
You can flash the Pie beta since you're running U1, there isn't an official release of Pie as yet.
Option2:
You can switch your device to the U firmware and flash the latest OTA however you would have to manually update each time because you won't be getting an update automatically.

How come the U firmware wouldn't get OTAs?
My S8+ was flashed to get the beta and that received OTA updates.
If I'm to go onto one UI I'd want it to get OTA updates still. If that means waiting for an official release then so be it
On a different note, I installed an app to get the FM radio working today. Can't do that with the UK exynos version ?

Because on the U most OTA comes from the carrier (ATT & VZW) while the rest comes from Samsung.
U1 all updates come from Samsung but U1 updates are months behind.
Advantage of running U firmware is you always get to be on the latest OTA as one is available.

So correct me if I'm wrong but to simplify what you're saying:
The U gets the latest updates sooner but comes with carrier bloat
The U1 gets non bloated updates but Samsung doesn't release then until months later?
I'll leave it and wait if that's the case. I'd be more bothered about having bloat than One UI

Well yes the U comes with bloatware but the amount varies according to carrier, but since you're in the UK. Your CSC will read as XAA/XAA so therefore I doubt you would have any bloatware.
I know this because I myself had own a US device while using in the UK.

Right so even if you switch to U firmware it would still remain XAA/XAA because that would be the default CSC code for Unbranded for American model. F model is normally XEU or BTU

When I did the S8+ I had to go through a pretty big list to find the BTU firmware so assumed I'd have to do the same for the N9
I might give it a go if I get a chance this week
Seeing as you have the US variant of the Note 9. You may have issues receieving connecting to certain networks outside the US. As most US Networks use a different LTE band from the EU/UK

Question Help to clarify doubts about CSC changing with Samkey

Greetings folks, i have been reading a bit about changing the csc of the phone, I own a s21 Ultra G998B version and its branded with a owo rom, i live in Chile, and the Claro company of course is not up to date with the otas, and also i want to flash a clean rom with no bloatware. I read that with samkey i can change the CSC to an OXO (mine is owo) rom so i can then flash the muti csc rom. I also read that in order for samkey to work i have to roll back to may update? i'm currently on august update. am I correct in the process? can anyone recommend to which csc i can change so i won't turn my phone into a mess
thanks to all who can provide some light jeje

hi, yes it is, but i looked in samfirmware and the cho version is until august, so i think it would be the same? mine is chl which is for CLARO company and is also in august update, i would like september updates so i can try the andy 12 beta
When I bought it, it had May firmware. I changed CSC before any other update .
So , may update is working for SamKey.
Otherwise, you need to flash with latest Odin the may firmware of your CSC you want (downgraded)

No to both. Thailand FW is configured for the Exynos SoC. The China FW, even though it's configured for the Snapdragon SoC it's not compatible with the US Unlocked variant. Do you live in Thailand? If so I'm curious why you aquired a US device. We often see users buying non native devices, maybe they got a good price, maybe they moved out of their region, maybe it's a company issued phone but it's a pain when call features or 5G don't align with your service provider. Flashing non stock firmware often causes more problems than it solves. Samsung is moving closer and closer to proprietary software for individual models, mix and match is becoming a thing of the past.

$30 USD is an awesome deal! If all bands and esim are functional that's probably as good as it gets. Unfortunately Exynos compatible FW which is dominant in Russia can't be installed on your device. Gboard may be your best option for Russian Language.
