simple ringtones for free? - Off-topic

Hey everybody,
I am looking for some simple ringtones which are available for free. I am not looking after the newest britney spears song für my mobilephone just some simple ringtones in a good quality (so preferrable no MIDI)?
I've found justringring.com but I refuse to pay 3pounds for a 5 sec. of sound.
Any suggestions?

any wma or mp3 that works on your pc would do
if you have a wm device with phone
because people can just put files on their phones themselfs
there is no real market for selling ring tones for wm devices

Yes, I know that I can put my own files on it. But I am neither very creative nor do I have suitable files. I found a collection here on the forums with some nice simple ringtones but the collection was rather small.
And as I said, I don't want to put my favorite song as a ringtone...they are already too many kids abusing their mobile phone as a ghettoblaster

Go here: www.poly-tones.net/wap/poly.wml
Put...x, click "click to get tone. Try this no. 222

You can go to the Verizon Wireless Ringtone site and just preview their ringtones and save them right to your computer. Idiots, who the hell leaves the HTML wide open like that...

Custom Ringtones
If anyone needs a custom ringtone made, i have tons of software for audio editing and would be honored to make one for anyone in the community. So even if you are looking for something simple pm me and i'll fix ya' up something. For rintones from songs will require the orginal song name. For copyright purposes i will make it know i want no payment for this as is it purely "customized free downloads" if you will.

Go to http://www.mobile9.com/
Free and easy. Register and enjoy.

Simple Ringtones
So we have now made justringring free. You can download the ringtones and email then to your phone. I can't post the link but just search for justringring
Hope it helps everyone.

You don't say what platform you use. If it's Android then download Zedge from the Market...
https://market.android.com/details?id=net.zedge.android&feature=search_result
It's free and great for ringtones, notification sounds and wallpapers.

iTunes for WM5/6?

Has anyone heard of getting iTunes to work on an PPC?
I'm thinking like the Motorolla phones (Rokr, Slvr, V3i, etc).
Funny thing, the only reason I really care is I have a bunch of purchased music that i'd like to access on my phone...

Matt,
The only program I heard of that can do it is PPC tune sync......or something like that. I don't know how good, if at all, it actually works. But basically it just syncs with your iTunes to sync all your MP3's.
thanks for that info. I looked up that program, and it looks like the only way is to burn them to a CD and rip them to the phone...
Could be worse, I suppose...
I will ask around and see if anyone has something more appealing.
I don't use iTunes (just copy to my SD card). But will keep an eye (and ear) out for something else.
Wave recorder
Use a wave recorder to record your music into new format.
Good one is Jetaudio.
Yes you might lose quality but you will get files you can use anyway you want.
BTW loss of quality is not even that big because you are recording a digital waveform that is actually damn acurate.
RECORDING AUDIO FOR PERSONAL USE has never been iligal as far as i know.

cool, thanks! I wondered about doing that, but hadn't ventured down that road... I'll check out that program.
Audacity
Another brilliant recorder is Audacity and its all free.
Once you have tweeked it you can get a better sound than just a wav recorder, and if you have the time this is a good bit of software to record your own tomtom voices.
Hope you get somthing sorted.

A year has passed and in the mean time i think i ahve seen some app around.

Ringdroid

Great app in the market that can make ringtones from our mp3's, very easy app to use!
Saw the application and really liked the user interface. Any program like this for WM? It would really make a good replacement for mp3 trimmer.
I have one in signature called mixx mobile, check it out...
I had tried using that app not to long ago and it didn't work for me. It wouldn't play any audio I tried importing and they were mp3's. Plus it locked up every minute so I gave up on it. Not going to purchase an app if it doesn't work.

I am aware of that. MP3 Trimmer is the program in HTC's Audio Manager. It is what I was looking to replace. Mixx Mobile looked pretty good, but failed to work properly. Thanks for the suggestion though.

*sigh*Its me again...looking for more apps.

My friend downloaded a program for his G1 called Tunewiki. I was wondering if there was a similar program for our windows mobile devices.
What is it? Is it like Music ID that comes installed from ATT?
No. Its a music player that automatically searches for and displays lyrics. It also gives options to see music videos for the song you are playing on youtube plus other neat features.
Update: Found a nice music player that downloads lyrics called MiniLyrics, but nothing as in depth an tunewiki. Maybe one day the devs behind tunewiki may port it to WM...only time will tell.

Im pretty sure there must be something like this among those 20-30 thousand apps for WM.
I remember using some player that displayed lyrics (if attached) while playing mp3, and it had option to find lyrics on some website. I can't tell you details because it was so many years ago when I was using VOQ smartphone, but what I mean is: keep searching

Good point, tunewiki is no longer available for new users. They complain that there are too many users for what they can support. I'm looking at the minilyrics now.
Well, I sent an email to the guys over at TuneWiki, and according to them, they have ports for WM and Blackberry in the works. Its pre-alpha though so it might be awhile. Oh well, at least they are planning to bring this wonderful app to WM!

Looking for WM6.5 and Android ringtones?

I've been having fun putting new ringtones on my device. I liked the ringtones that came with the PDAcorner rom, but currently I don't have that flashed. Does anyone know where WM6.5 ringtones could be aquired?
or the ringtones that were in Android, but I don't know where to get them. Usually all the archives online contain about 2000 ringtones lol, and usually they aren't even that great, or there's too many to search through!
BUMP.
I also want some alerts from Android/Winmo 6.5
If anyone could, please rip them from there and upload in a .rar. I would highly appreciate it.
you want sound effects ringtones or music ringtones?

I don't mean to disrespect the request at all - it's currently the most-requested feature on that uservoice page, so clearly you're not alone in wanting it, and I'm all about the Will of the People.
But can I ask why? I get why it's important in hour-long podcast episodes (and I just noticed this morning that the 8.1 podcast app implements it, which is nice), but I've never felt the need to skip forward within a song I was listening to. Skip to the next song? Sure, all the time - but I've never thought, "Ugh, this verse is boring, the next one's WAY better, ARGH."
Obviously, I'm being facetious - but seriously, I'm completely missing the point of the request.

There was a time when there were no decent apps for playing back Audiobooks so that was ONE reason why a seek bar (and maybe bookmarking?!) would have been hugely helpful. There still aren't any that are as simple as drag-dropping the audio files (you have to use RSS or transfer the files from OneDrive). I can imagine listening to recorded lectures, for example, would pose a similar problem.
Pretty much any situation in which you find yourself dealing with relatively large/long audio files.
