There is already a thread on this, but I'm starting a new one as I feel the old one has deviated from its purpose of finding a workaround for the P3600i
For those of you who have not been following...
The current SSPL, Hard-SPL, Super CID methods used to bypass Trinity
(P3600) SPL do not work on the new HTC P3600i.
Here's the reason why:
pof said:
The P3600i has 256MB NAND in oposite of the 128 Mb NAND of the regular P3600.
To flash this device you need bootloader 3.x or higher, and OS rom must be tagged 0x401 in the NBH (not 0x400, which is used for 128Mb NAND), also you should use a new RUU (the on the official WM6 rom should be ok).

It was recommended that Olipro be contacted about this, so I did and this is what he had to say.
What that means is that firstly; you need one of the newer SPL versions; send me one and I'll patch it.
secondly; you need to dump your OS from the NBH and then rebuild it using 401 as the code for it (default is 400)
Obviously you could also crack the NBH open in a hex editor and just change the value, your choice entirely.
I'm don't have the technical expertise at present to do the above & am kinda pressed for time to learn so I'm hoping someone will be able to help.
Does anyone have the Newest SPL version extracted that they can post?
Can anyone suggest a hex editor to change value to 401 & explain exactly how this is done. I tried using a random hex editor and was confused by the max of hex before my eyes, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be changing.
Thanks
i'm using htc 3600i too , waiting for success flashing and cooking rom for it.
Surely someone has extracted the SPL-3.03.0000 boot loader.
Please if anyone has it, can you post.
I saw it posted before, but neglected to DL it cause i thought I'd never need it.
I've searched through 40+ pages and have not been able to find. I probably just keep keep missing the page it's on...the search is not the greatest.
I would be forever grateful to the kind soul who would take the time to help a brother out...
After all, "there comes at time, when we all need..."
Here is SPL 3.03.0000 from this official ROM "RUU_Trinity_DOPODASIA_WWE_3.00.707.18_6275_1.46.30.11_108_Ship.exe" (which I believe is the ANZ release).
I managed to upgrade my P3600i from this version which was on the phone when I bough it "RUU_Trinity_DOPODASIA_WWE_3.00.707.17_6275_1.46.00.11_108_Ship.exe" (which I believe is the SEA release).
i'm waiting for this solution..

We need a patched version of the SPL 3.003... Olipro agreed to do so and I've sent him a PM. Still waiting to hear back.
Secondly we need to dump the ROM from the NBH and rebuild it using 401 as the code (the default is 400)
Or you could:
Crack the NBH open in a hex editor and just change the value, your choice entirely.
I'm don't have the technical expertise at present to do the above & am hoping someone will dump the rom then rebuild as mentioned above or post a tutorial on using a hex editior to change the value.

Do you get answer from Olipro? I'm sure many people's here are waiting (yes incld me
No word yet. Still waiting
waiting for solution. hope we can play with 3600i soon
Ok. So I'm confused as there are some contradictions. Is it possible for a cht 9110, purchased in Taiwan, to be flashed to an English version using the HTC official website download? Or is that why everybody is waiting for an unlock/flash method?
I can maybe live without any of the real nice rom tweaks that get developed here for at least a little while but I'm not sure how far I can get using the default Traditional Chinese as I'm not a native speaker. The cht 9110 is being offered in Taiwan at a much cheaper price than elsewhere which is one reason I don't want to have one shipped in with the factory English rom already installed. Thanks in advance for any clarification.
p.s. I should probably mention that I have not purchased one yet which is one reason why I can't answer this question myself. Thanks again!
p.p.s. The lady at ChungHwa Telecom said they were sold out all around Taiwan. They'll call me back in two weeks when they get more in from HTC.
I think it is possible to flash the offical englsh rom in the cht9110
as people said they can flash the official ROM into the P3600i
just can't use those cooked roms here

No no, I'm using CHT9110 from Taiwan with Chineas rom. and I try to flash with Official WWE rom, it will give you error of Invalid ID.
Sorry..the corrected error message is " Invalid Vendor ID"
Any news from Olipro?
keen to try out the roms in development here as well.
I have a CHT9110 and I have just failed to upgrade it with Official English ROM downloaded from Dopod's website....need to convert Traditional Chinese Version to WWE version.....
Me too. Can you please share the official WWE Rom, I can't download it. Is this the "Wrong device ID" issue ?
OK guys, I'll sort this all out for you.
Firstly I need a volunteer (capeli perhaps?) your device won't be harmed as part of my testing by the way.
I'll need someone so I can run through soft-loading the SPL and flashing it on etc.
now, unfortunately, my ISP has royally ****ed up my ADSL line, so currently I'm running via my PDA, which is costing me £1 per megabyte, which is rather unpleasant, so please do bear with me guys.
capeli: I'll get the SPL patched shortly for testing, cheers mate.
Waiting Also. I am inAusralia with a new 3600i and would like one of the cookeed ROMs I have been reading about. I will keep close to theis thread for an outcome.
Perhpas I could bother you all with some questions:
Will a new ROM affect what is on my device currently?
Will it affect my 3G settings to my service provider Telstra?
Will it affect third party apps I have instaklled; TomTom, Task Manager, TouchPal?\
Can I go BACK if needed?

Hi guys,
Been a while since I've been on here and it would seem there has been a whole load of ROM updates since I last updated my Vario.
It was originally a UK T-Mobile ROM, I CID unlocked and SIM unlocked it and updated to the latest I-Mate ROM.
Had a look in the FTP site and theres a whole selection of ROMs to choose from!
Just wondered if some kind soul could advise which is the best ROM to update to?
According to my phone, I currently have:
ROM version 2.16.9.1 WWE
ROM date : 2/6/06
Radio version : 02.07.10
Protocol version : 413.1.03
ExtROM version : 2.16.9.101
Its an I-Mate ROM currently, but I don't care which ROM I put on it, as long as its the latest stable version available.
Also, is there a 'clean' version of the latest ROM? ie no crap in the extended ROM.
Do I understand correctly that as I updated the ROM from an old AKU1 ROM, the CID unlock will still be in place or do I need to do the unlock trick again by following the post regarding unlocking AKU2 ROMs?
Cheers,
Steve.
No replies??
I know it sounds a newby question, but I have read and digested a lot of the info on this site and thanks to all you guys I upgraded my ROM form the standard UK T-Mobile image to the latest I-Mate image. But this was a while ago and it would seem things have moved on and I was just after a gentle prod in the right direction.
From what I've read, it would seem Molski's image is the fastest and most stable out there at the moment. Also i now know I have a G3 phone as the IPL/SPL is 2.16.
I'm still not sure what will happen when I try to flash a new ROM. I know i SIM and CID unlocked the phone for the first ROM update, but will that CID and SIM unlock still be in place to allow the upgrade to Molskis ROM image. I would rather not have a brick, if I can help it.
Also, does anyone have an opinion on Molski's latest ROM vs I-Mates 2.16?? Is it any quicker or am I upgrading for no benefit?
If no-one replies then I will carry on reading and searching for answers to my questions and I thank you all for doing what you do on here and hopefully there will be a thread somewhere that will help me out. If I do get an answer then I thank you for helping a not-so-new newbie down the road to Wizard nirvana.
Cheers all,
Steve.
Hi mate, sorry cant answer your question,
I have a locked Tmobile MDA Vario with the latest tmobile firmware.
How do I unlock it?
and what is the best firmware to use?
I have used the search on here, but dont understand the firmware codes etc and dont want to risk flashing a wrong update.
thanks
To unlock the latest phones, from what I have read on here you need to use the latest Lockiwiz program, downgrade the ROM to a custom ROM, then CID and SIM unlock the phone, then you can upgrade to the ROM of your choice.
As for the best ROM out there, thats exactly what I'm trying to find out!!!!
ok I downloaded Lockiwiz 0.3a and it didn't give me the unlock code.
I wonder if this is because I have installed the latest tmobile firware.
anyway, it will have to stay locked for now. thanks for your help, sorry I cant help you.
for sim unlock download awizard or lokiwiz extract enablerapi.cab and copy it to your device.
then run it on the device and run lokiwiz or awizard on your pc.
worked for me
there is no need to downgrade your rom unless you have a particular situation and you just want tot do that.
anyway to upgrade your roms with cid locked phones read this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=47848
cheers
wo hoooo!
that did it, thanks, unlocked!! yippee
Well thanks to everyone for all their kind words and help..........
Anyway, I have upgraded my ROM to Molski's 2.26 and it is fantastic. The phone is so quick, and I haven't even overclocked it yet! Very impressive.
So a big shout out to Molski for cooking this ROM, and long may he continue making stable, fast, easy ROM executables.
And also a big shout out to everyone on here. I know I made a sarcastic comment at the beginning but I still managed to search and find everything I needed to know, it just took many, many hours of rooting through to find the answers to my questions. But without all you guys the answers wouldn't have been there anyway.
It has also propelled me into making a noobies guide to this sort of stuff, so keep your eyes open for that, all you guys that keep asking about the latest ROM and how to upgrade.
Thanks again and i will be asking some more questions soon, matbe just to see if I get any sort of reaction at all!!!
Take care peeps,
Steve.
OK, I've finalised an RUU Updater with inclusive tools to allow you to Bake your own ROMs from the ones already out there
this does NOT mean you can edit the OS files, simply mix'n'match
The RUU Updater also will run the SSPL for you meaning that you can use this RUU to flash *ANY* ROM to your PDA even if it is fresh out of the box (but please do take care when doing so)
There is no NBH included in this file, and you will need to place one in the directory you extract this to in order to run it.
I have released in this package; a GUI app to simplify the ROM baking process, but if you wish, feel free to experiment, and remember, you *CAN* delete components from the NBHGen sample file (say for example you didn't want to flash a new Radio), but please remember to ensure that all files are named correctly.
Download: (UPDATED VERSION, INCLUDES AUTOMATED GUI TOOL)
ftp://xda:/Trinity/Tools_and_Programs/ModifiedRUUUpdater-V2-TRIN.rar
Please note that the GUI tool is relatively primitive; please keep all files INSIDE the workshop folder, thanks

Combining OS & Radio from different ROMS
Hi there,
Will this tool able to merge OS and Radio components from different official ROMS?
Example... we take the OS ROm from the original Dopod WWE ROM and combine it with the GPS Enabled Radio on the recent Dopod official GPS ROM?
I thought just wan to try if this can solve the current Audio no BASS issues.. after romming with the latest GPS ROM.
Yep, that's exactly what it'll let you do.
Whether your GPS will still work with a GPS Radio and non-GPS ROM I cannot answer however (but either way, you can easily flash back)
Sweet!!!!
Thank alot, this will help alot!!

Sorry, this is my mistake, I will recompile ROMBaker; it is creating the NBH as HERM100 instead of TRIN100 - I'll have a fix for this in about 5 minutes
Ok, I have updated ROMBaker; you may redownload the entire archive from the FTP or download this attachment and overwrite the old ROMBaker.
if there is anyone who has both a TRIN and HERM, then I will consider creating a single program that will allow you to choose between both.
Question:i ve got an italian Tim branded 3600 with no gps ,can i just update the radio with a radio gps-enabled file taken from another rom to enable it with this tool??i like to have gps but also like my P3600 in my language...
Thanks in advance,Base
if anyone can make an Italian Branded or unbranded ROM with GPS OK please share it
Or anyone can post a backup of one of this rom without GPS and i will try to edit it.
humm...is it possible to get your language out to use with a WWE ROM ,or the whole original rom as a backup and install it later if needed ??
The ftp link doesn't work!!! Could you please uploaded again?
Thanks!!!
some little sod cleared the Uploads folder... re-uploaded now anyway
I moved it to ftp safe heaven, so it doesn't happen again.
Thanks Man, You are the best!

TRIN100
SuperCID
ROMBaker

601,03_SubSplash.nb
900,04_ExtROM.nb
300,05_GSM.nb
400,06_Unknown.nb
05_GSM.nb is actually 1.50.08.11 (taken from taiwanese ROM) while the os rom is taken from the official htc rom.
the problem is, once i finish flshing my device, the device information (inside wm6) still showing that i'm running 1.46.00.11 (the original gsm from the official ROM)
is it normal? if not, how to change it (so that it will display 1.50.08.11) ?
Well I would like to try this but the ftp isnt working . can someone please upload it somewhere so I can grab it ... MAny thanks....

I've upgraded my P3600 to WM6 (Australian ROM)
GPS - First detection is slow IMHO. After that it runs great.
Changes in speed - No changes so far I have noticed, in other words it still runs fast
Battery life - Is great depending on your usage. Just disable your infrared. That alone makes a lot of difference.
Where did you get the image ROM?
What is the difference between DOPOD and HTC Australian ROM?
Thanks

Does it matter where I got it from?.. Or do you want to know where you can get it?..
http://rapidshare.com/files/42337174/D810_ANZ_WM6_Upgrade_20070709.zip
I do not know what and if there is a difference is between DOPOD and HTC Australian ROM.
I just know that the ROM I used didn't have customized DOPOD screenlogo's/programs etc installed AND that I have only one issue since running this ROM but I think it's WM6 related:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=318013
All the OFFICIAL ROMs providing wm6 for trinity, so far, are from Dopod, including the rapidshare link above.
This is why it's called: 'D810' and not HTC P3600 in the link.
You may notice very few Dopod's customization, but it's still a ROM from Dopod, you can see, for instance, some Dopod's ringtones in the alarms and ring lists.
As far as the localized operator settings are concerned, I can't tell, since I did not install their extended ROM, I don't have any either, except for the ring tones I just mentioned before.
Regarding the new ROM performances, I think it has increased a lot from the previous April wm5 release from HTC: faster, better look etc.
The GPS is a little bit faster, but not much faster, but I think it has more to do with the new radio.
For example I could not get any fix with the 1.46.00.01 one from SEA. But it works quite well with the 1.46.20.01, from ANZ.
The most impressive improvement is the wifi connexion, which is stable, and fast. (it was a disaster with previous radios, especially the 1.38.x series.
Just to make myself more clear:
1)
I know all the trinity ROMs are made by HTC. What I meant is not 'made by Dopod' but, branded, designed for Dopod.
2)
I have read here before that wifi has nothing to do with radio but just with the ROM itself. I don't know, but what I can tell is that, the previous wm5 plus 1.38/1.41 radio series had always given me poor wifi performance.
But wm6 with 1.46. series is perfect in terms of wifi perfs.
At last do you think that flashing with an official ROM (Asian or Australian doesn't matter) i will not have any king of strange problem like with the wm6 coocked roms?
I want wm6 but i want all the features work on the device too.
Thanks for your patience, but i'm going to buy my HTC p3600 nad i will do only if i can have a perfectly working WM6 device with working GPS.
Thanks

Since there are no garantees there is a choice to be made. The P3600 is still unique in his features. It's the ONLY Window Mobile based PDA with 3G enabled and GPS onboard.
And what you do want to consider is that even if HTC releases a WM6 for Europe, there are no garantees that the ROM won't have any flauds.
Exactly, there is never 100% garantee to be fully satisfied and get no default or bug. This is why the reseller is there to offer you a one year garantee, so if you fancy the specs of the device go for it.
I don't want to start any debate about which programmers have more skills and more time to do proper job.
Individual ROM cooks are amazing and none of us will ever reach their skill levels, and they do it for free, just for the pleasure of sharing with us, so we owe them the greatest respect for that.
But obviously , after having tried both, I confirm that there are less conflicts and bugs in the official ROM than in the cooked ones.
Also because they take more risks by adapting applications that where not designed for the device (ex: touchflo and kaiser interfaces in trinity)
But I do believe that new cooked ROM from now on will be far more reliable than they were in before (wm6 ones), mainly because they now have a stable basis (the official dopod release) to make their own developments on.
So the difference might be slighter and slighter in those respects.

Does this ROM update go as easy as the GPS unlock update?
I've done ROM updates that made you go through several activities and I just screw them up.
I'm looking for the simple version.
Jerry
Tried this and no luck
I have an HTC branded and unlocked P3600
I got this error:
Error 294 - Invalid Vendor ID
This update utility cannot be used for your PDA Phone.
Ideas?
No, it is not as easy as the GPS update ROM, and cannot be compare as you just experienced it because:
- it's not a HTC release, it's a DOPOD release, aiming at Dopod D810 clients, from South-east Asia and Australia-New-zealand.
- the ROM is heavy protected by its SPL to not install onto other CID devices.
- The previous Hard-spl crack doesn't work anymore and if you try to install it: luckily u'll get an error it will refuse to install, unluckily, it will get stuck in the middle of the install and you might even brick your device.
That's why you could not manage to install it. There are plenty of topics over this issue on this forum, you can try one of those workarounds, but take all responsibility if something unlucky happens during the upgrade process.
By the way: SIM unlocked, doesn't mean CID unlock, you can install any SIM card you want from any provider, but your phone's CID still belong to a language, a geographical area, and a manufacturer, which is HTC, not DOPOD ;-)

I clearly should do more reading before attempting this
Well, from you link, i can see that the boot unlocker works but i can't get back to my device because it's stuck in a boot loader rainbow screen.
How do i get it back to the OS?
I told you so...
1)
Don't think it's easy and simple, every one got different skills and experience and you don't help the noobies by saying "flashing a SPL protected ROM is 'easy and simple, just use your brain'...
Better being warned of the worst, if you want to do your best...
2)
There is a sticky thread in this forum about 'how to unbrick or unstuck you phone after having failed to flash the Dopod's ROM.
Read it CAREFULLY and try it out.
3)
Next time you try, use Olibro SPL or, more simple and safe for beginners, try to flash a ROM without SPL/IPL.

can you give more info on where you're stuck? (what is shown on bootloader screen). i'm assuming you've tried a soft reset to exit bootloader...
it's not that hard to flash a rom, the official dopod wm6 included. follow the guide here which will allow you to flash it without the new spl. it's still recommended to flash hard spl before a ROM flash to be safe.
Hi!
This week I bought a Tilt secondhand. I'm sure that some work has been done to it. First I noticed that the previous owner has using a non AT&T SIM, I'm an AT&T subscriber, so at least it's sim unlocked. Then I noticed that when I turn it on there's no AT&T animation, there's a HTC animation. I also noticed that when I turn it on or soft reset it, after the "Smart Computing" comes up, there're some numbers in the lower right corner.
R: 1.65.17.56
G: 25.83.40.02H
D: 3.28.00.00
I registered here before I decided to buy the Tilt and I read many of the treads, so I know that many kinds of ROMs and programming exists for this device. So, what I want to know is how do I know what was done, installed, changed to this Tilt?
Thanks
Maybe I'm wrong, but it sounds like whoever last owned the device flashed an HTC ROM onto it.
Dave
Easy. Go to Start>Settings>System>Device Information You should be able to read the ROM version installed.
Yeah I guessed they changed the original rom, the rom installed is 3.28.405.0 WWE, DATE 05/02/08, radio 1.65.17.56 & protocol 25.83.40.02H. Still that doesn't tell me much.
I need to know which of all the ROM I read mentioned on the forums is the one installed, I need to know if there's a better alternative & I need to read a whole lot more to understand all my options here.
you just need to flash and find out for yourself don't ask "what is the best rom" its a matter of opinion and you can get banned for asking that.
here are some links to get you started with flashing

Simply compare it with the SHIPPED ROM List in the WIKI! I am sure they flashed the ORIGINAL SHIPPED HTC Rom ... ! BTW: If it is the original AT&T Tilt, then they have (for sure) performed a SIM UNLOCK and in addition a CID UNLOCK. From my point of view, I do not concider an item as NEW if someone did this to a device!

Yeah, I guess you really have to do some READ-UP! Start here ...
Thanks Junner2003!!
This is the kind of information I was looking for. I suppose that the higher the rom number, the more updated the rom is?
In general: it is a newer ROM if the number is higher. However, that does not necessary mean that the ROM is better. Newer ROMs contain for sure BUG FIXES for older ROMs but mostly contain a whole bunch of new bugs as well.
If you stick with an older ROM, it has the advantage that often users came up with a BUG FIX for well known issues or at least they can provide some kind of workaround.
OK so I checked the ROM Wiki and found my rom number (3.28.405.0 WWE). Would it be correct to say that the upgrade would be 3.34.721.2 WWE? Is the country code what defines what I can use?
PS:
I must be real slow because I get timeout & have to relogin before I can finish an answer to any post.

WWE is World Wide English so if you speak English it would probably not be a good idea to flash a rom in a foreign language like Australian or something.
Yes it is the newest rom , released in Oct

hey guys!! i need the official upgrade for my device henever i go through the htc website they say this software is not suitable for your device, can somebody give me the direct link, heres my device serial number (S/N) :HT823GN22600
Hi guys I am looking for any compatible rom that is English. I have Diamond unit with Spanish ROM on it. I need English compatible ROM. I tried one from mediafire link above but installer gave me error saying invalid vendor id. I guess I can't just install any it needs to be specific carrier or vendor.
Here is info from about:
version: 1.93.476.3 ESN
Data 09/02/08
version 1.00.25.08
version 52.33a.25.17H
I really don't know anything about this unit I do not see any carrier markings on the box or start up screen , it looks like unbranded unit made for Spain may be. If possible provide direct link to rom I can use or may be some advice where I can look.
Thank you !

Thank you very much for your reply. Unfortunately I tried several roms that I thought are English and all of them showed me "INVALID VENDOR" error. is there anyway you can specify ROM I can use with my unit, if you not sure what I have to begin with I'd be more than happy to provide any info needed to identify unit I have.
Hard spl and you can install whatever rom u want....

....
CID lock (aka vendor lock): put on your device by the manufacturer to prevent installation of a ROM not released by them.
HardSPL: This modified bootloader allows a much safer flashing process to take place since it reduces the chance of permenently bricking your device. It also removes the need to CID Unlock the device since it ALWAYS reports SuperCID when flashing. See the official thread for more info.
