Hey guys, I've had my Kaiser for a couple of days now. I've been having a couple of issues with it.
1 - Whenever I turn the phone on, do a soft reset or turn the 'phone' option on or off. I get this "Connection Setup" pop up which states " The operator does not exist in the database. please contact your operator for the connection settings. Conenction setup will redirect you to the Connection screen"
I then "hide" the message which triggers the "connection setting screen"
it also does it sometimes too when it comes in and out of network.
2 - My phone shows that I have signal but it doesnt seem like it's on the network. when people call me it goes to my voicemail and I can't send text messages. I have to eitehr Soft Reset or Turn the Antenna off then on again.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
1/ That prompt is the "setup wizard"
it is the same as you would select -->> settings -->> connections -->> connection setup
choose your country & operator in the drop down list ..etc
and for those like me ( Canada) in which the list doesn't covered ... you have the option to turn that "auto prompt" off by selecting "MENU" when you are on the same selection drop down screen.
~~~
2/ Kaiser comes SIM unlocked already ...
you might have an "non-activated" SIM ?? ( that's how it acts ...signal but no real network name )
you need to borrow someone else's SIM or make sure that the one in the Kaiser is "ACTIVATED" !!!
.. You didn't forget about the SIM ...did ya ??
1. start-settings-connection-connection setup-menu-enable auto configuration. u can disable it if your country and/or operator ar not in that list.
2. it may also be a problem on the network, ie. if ur in a crowded zone and there are no timeslots available on the air interface (mobile - bts), the mobile shows coverage, but cannot use the network, since no "channel" to communicate.
2) - I have seen the same problem with the HTC 3600 (Trinity)... it's the radio, it is not as sensitive as on regular mobile phones (my Nokia seems to be usable just fine in the same spot) - it shows signal but if called i get the "Out of the area of service or closed...". Don't know if it only happens in 3G mode or in GSM mode too.
Heeeei. Ce surpriza. Cati crezi ca suntem cu Kaiser in Romania?
Off topic, non english:
Nu stiu, cati?
Thanks for the reply guys!
I'm also in canada and I have an activated sim on FIDO so it shouldnt be a sim issue.
you're right it might be an network issue... but I never had this issue with my N95.
I'll keep an eye on it and see if it persists.
Thanks Guys!
I wonder how old your sim is with FIDO. when they switched everything over to Rogers my wizard was unreliable getting connections that my p800 was fine with.
A new SIM cleaned everything right up.
Since it just entered Romania (Thursday last week), there should not be very many. On the other hand, since I have an online shop selling things like that, I can confess that I have already sold 6 devices like that myself, so I can imagine there are already some.
i tried phoning the tech support today, got the tytnII told them its the t-mobile vario 3 as they wouldnt understand what i was talking about....
i need someone to give me the cab for the settings, or tell me the settings that i have to do.
Right now, from kaisers setup manager, the connection wasnt working, i edited the "Username should be: t-mobile Password should be: tm" myself, nothing changed
i get the "answering modem has disconnected" and a popup saying there is a problem connecting to the gprs service in your home network"
i get the small 3g icon on the taskbar
Your post is a bit confusing. Do you have a real Vario III? If so you should already have the settings. If they are lost or messed up then go to T-Mobile's site and get them sent to you by text.
If you have the correct settings already then the message you've described is a symptom of the 3G bug I posted about in another thread.
You can workaround this by going into Settings, Phone, Band and change the network type to "GSM". It will then connect but you will lose 3G. Read the other thread for full details.
i have the tytn2 (aka htc kaiser), not the vario 3.
i ve read about the bug you posted and i can recieve calls fine when on 3g, tried the bit about chaning to gsm, but the same error pops out.
i ve used these settings:
"Choose T-Mobile Inter.
Edit
Connection name should be: T-Mobile Inter.
Next
Access point Name should be: general.t-mobile.uk
Next
User name : user
Password: one2one
Domain: leave blank
Finish"
as posted on modaco, again same error.
i am gonna ring the support again i guess.
Still confused - do you have a T-Mobile SIM then?
of course i have a tmobile sim
the problem was, that even i had the web and walk option on my account, gprs was disabled from their end for me.
now everything works, including hsdpa
Hello,
I have a GRRRRR problem.
I have a belgium simcard, provider (mobistar) , but i travel a lot to the Netherlands.
But i dont want to roam , so in other words , if there is no Mobistar avaible , i just want the kaiser to look until Mobistar is avaible if i am back in Belgium.
So in phone settings i select manual network instead of automatic.
This worked perfect on my previous PDA with Mio A701 with WM5.
Now, if i am in another country there is a stupid POPUP , that you can select an avaible other network , i click it away , but then 5 min later its back , the whloe ****ing day!!...
Is there anyway to disable that popup? Running Dutty Rom 7 now , but it was also on htc branded rom.
Also tried disablïng "enable automatic setup" in connection setup, didnt help either.
THNX a lot!!!!!
Start-Settings-Connections-Connections setup-Menu-Uncheck Enable Auto Configuration
I alreadu did that, did you have the same problem as me?
Was it solved by that option?
Anyone know of a solution for this yet? Disabling Auto Configuration didn't work for me either.
I am limited to one network (no roaming in the UK) and have fairly bad reception at home so I have my network selection set to Manual. That way when there is no reception the phone doesn't spend ages searching for a different network before realising that there aren't any. This works well except I get the above mentioned "Select Network" popup coming up every few minutes asking me to choose from one of the other (un)available UK networks.
Hello everyone,
I just got an anoying behavior on my diamond. When i got into a non coverage area (i.e. subway) and then return to a coverage area, the phone didn't select automatically the newtork. After this, i decided to manually select my network provider and forget about it.
since i did it, the phone continuosly displays a windows listing the network providers in my zone and requiring to register. I still don't know what triggers this window to appear.
Does anyone has any idea why is this happening?
Thanks
Hi all,
My brand new Diamond 2 (ROM 1.39.413.0 SVE, radio 3.43.25.19) will never switch to HSDPA/3G mode. I have the "G" symbol in the status area, and not the "H" symbol. I have checked the settings under "Advanced network" and HSDPA/HSUPA is activated. I also tried to inactivate it, soft reset and the re-activate it again but no luck.
I use Tele2 as carrier, and had no problem with this in any previous phone (last phone was a Nokia N82).
Anyone with similar problems? Any ideas what I could try?
i have problem. My D2 only use with 3G network. I like to use GSM but cant switch... always see the "3G" symbol
Well, today it suddenly decided it was time to switch to 3G-mode, after two full days in GSM/GPRS mode. Also, when doing data transfers in 3G-mode and the signal is low (one or two bars), it first gives a stupid error message ("dialing failed") a few times and then takes over a minute to switch to GPRS mode. Definitely disappointing radio performance, compared to for example Nokia and SE.
But I like the rest of the phone, so I guess I will learn to live with this...
how to switch to GSM mode, bro?
i tried to tweak registry, used some software like S'chap or Diamond tweak, but can't...
pls Help me
Start -> settings -> All Settings -> Personal -> phone -> Select your network Type -> GSM.
Its possible the touchy way too via Comm Manager > Phone > Band (at the bottom, German ROM here).
Regards
good idea
My wife 3G sim works on my tab, going back to the shop as it is the sim car the problem, not the tab
thanks again
Glad it was that and not the precious tab.
Bad Karma
I have finally a Data only 3G simcard, it works on a phone and on a demo galaxy tab in orange shop
but can't get it to work on my tab
can still get internet with the voice and 3G of my wife!!
do I need to flash an orange image ???
No, you need to change a setting.
Google "apn setting orange france broadband"
Go to settings, wireless networks, mobile networks, access point names,
You will have to add the settings you got from google: menu, add new access point.
Fill in the values. Menu, save, reboot.
When the tab starts, go to that apn and select it. Wait a few, then go back one screen, and select your sim card carrier.
You could also go to the demo tab and copy the settings into your tab, or from your wifes phone.
Found out that
IF the wifi is ON then the 3G is OFF
IF the wifi is OFF then the 3G is ON
so working now, end of game
Oops. Good find. Enjoy.
