Hi all,
I have tried to find the answer in many forums but with no luck before i post here.
Recently I purchased the Tytn II, and would like to use that to send and receive emails in my company's exchange server using pop3 and smtp. I have make sure that everything setting is correct, but everytime I got back the page of authentication error and ask me to input the password. So I did some more testings, and here I got the following result:
tytn II (WM6) = fail
Asus P535 (WM6) = fail
D810 (Wm6) = fail
Samsung (Wm5) = ok
tytn II (Wm6 + webis flexmail) = ok
so it looks like the problem with the poutlook... then i try:
tytn II (wm6 + poutlook) and pop3 connect to yahoo, and it's ok.
the problem looks like the WM6 poutlook and specifically to my company's exchange server 2003. Does anyone have any hints that is there any parameter or whatever is need to be configured?
Thanks in advance!!
IMO, you need to install your company's certificate to connect to exchange server using exchange protocol (maybe pop3 too)?
greetings

Hi,
I just upgraded my Treo 750 with the AT&T WM6 build today. Everything seems to be working fine, except that I cannot sync with my company's OWA server. Activesync says that it's synching, but this goes on for a long time, then it stops and the message "Waiting For Network" appears at the bottom of the screen.
Others on the same server can sync fine with their devices, so it's not a server issue. I can download my GMail just fine so it's not an issue with internet settings.
Any ideas, or anyone having the same problem? I haven't been able to find related posts.
Thanks
Kevin
This may be of some help...

Please disregard this thread. I got it working. Thanks!
Same with me.
I Just upgrade my 750v to WM6.
But, now I cannot sync the with my exchange server 2003 SP3. (In WM5, I always sync successfully)
I always got an error : The security certificate on the server is not valid. Contact your Exchange Server administrator or ISP to install a valid certificate on the server.
I even add the Secure DWord key (0) into HKCU/Software/Microsoft/ActiveSync/Partners registry. But error still shown every time I tried to sync.
Anyone can help me ?
Hi everyone,
I bought an MDA Vario III on T-Mobile UK yesterday and setup email so I can send and recieve my Freedom 2 Surf POP3 email wherever I am.
I want to use T-Mobile GPRS/3G when I am out and about then switch to my ADSL WiFi Router when I am at home.
Sending and recieving worked fine using GPRS/3G and an SMTP of smtp.t-email.co.uk
When I got home and connected to my Wireless router instead recieving was fine, BUT nothing would send. I changed the T-Mobile SMTP setting to Freedom 2 Surfs (outmail.f2s.com) and all was fine.
The problem is when I go out again and want to use T-Mobile GPRS/3G it wont send until I change the SMTP settings back to T-Mobiles.
don't want to keep changing each time I want to switch connection.
I have worked around it for now by setting up 2 email accounts, one for Wifi (with the Freedom 2 Surf SMTP settings) and one for mobile (with the T-Mobile SMTP settings) but this is not ideal and I keep using the wrong one!
Have others found this problem and if so can anyone suggest a better way round the problem?
Cheers
Zippyioa

Try using your email providers smtp server (e.g. gmails is smtp.gmail.com)

Thanks for the reply.
I have tried that. It works with my wifi connection (which uses Freedom 2 Surf for broadband) but wont send when I use T-Mobile.
Any other ideas?
The issues is that most providers have their SMTP servers set to only allow relaying from a specific set of IPs (normally their customers), so that random spammers can't use their mail servers to relay spam out to the world. You'll need to find out if your home ISP's email server supports SMTP authentication, so that you can connect to it with a username and password and it will then allow you to relay mail normally as if you were connecting from one of its authorized valid IPs.

Thanks for the reply explodinglemur. I figured that was the case as I've had trouble with SMTP settings on old handsets when changing sim & network.
I would be interested to hear how others get round this problem. Currently I have one account setup for syncing my F2S email with Outlook, another so I can send/receive my F2S email whilst mobile (using tmobile smtp settings) and a final one so I can send/receive my F2S email using wifi at home.
I am sure there must be a better way to setup email so I can lose one of the accounts?

What I do is I run sendmail on port 587 and configure SMTP to talk to my own mailserver at that port (e.g. smtp.infernix.net:587 in the smtp server config). This way no ISP filtering of port 25 gets in the way.
This does require AUTH SMTP. Configuring your mailserver is beyond the scope of this forum
I also had to setup a secondary SMTP port on my mail server because many ISP lock down TCP port 25 only to their own SMTP server.
You would need to find out if Freedom 2 Surf has/allows a secondary TCP port for this.
Hi @ all,
does anyone have also problems with sending mails via IMAP?
My configuration: 1.93.207.2 ROM (O2 germany)
For mail settings I set up two mail accounts (in my diamond) to the same private mailserver. One with POP3 access and one with IMAP. Receiving mails works with both accounts. Sending only with that POP3 account.
Hence it could not be an issue with the data connection settings.
I want to use only the IMAP account, but during mail sending i got the error message "mail could not be send. please check network or account settings" or similar.
I'm wondering, because both accounts use the same setting excepting the accounttype.
With my old Tytn is was working fine...
So, is here any experiance with this problem?
many thx

I have no proxy settings active. In both use cases i use identical network connection settings.
That's why I'm wondering.
thx

I use IMAP with Gmail and need to put a different server in for outgoing mail + enable SSL.
Do you need a different server for IMAP?

No, they are also the same (it even doesnt matter in case of using POP3).
after flshing to original HTC ROM all was working fine.
IMAP is only for receiving like pop3 is
both mail accounts use smtp for sending
Hi all, I've got this rom installed, and for some reason I don't seem to be able to get on ANY https sites, OR sync over SSL to my exchange server.
I'm using Netfront 3.5, Opera 9 and IE.
None of them work
Active Sync says:
Activesync cannot reach the server. Check that the server address and proxy server settings are correct.
Support code: 0x80072F78
Last Syncronised: None
Last Attempt: 7:30pm
I think I may have fixed it. I noticed that my T-Mobile connection was using a proxy. I have unticked this and now I can sync with exchange and do my online banking.
Is it ok that I've unticked this?
Cheers,

hi all,
I have some strange issue creating a new mail account, an MS Exchange one.
I follow the Diamond's owner's manual chapter 7, I set my address and password (next) clear the "get setting automatically" (next) and then I should be able to choose e-mail provider type to be exchange, but the only 2 options I have are "internet e-mail" and "custom domain" both bringing me to imap/smpt etc settings and not the exchange ones -> consequently the account fails to connect to the server and fails to synch.
I'm not sure if it is important, but my Diamond has no problem synching with my local Outlook, so the failure is with the server connection.
The connections I tried were both WiFi and USB,
Rom 2.03
Radio 1.09
PLEASE HELP.
