Hi,
Which one is better between iLauncer and Spb Pocket Plus?
In terms of :
- Battery drain
- Memory usage
- CPU usage
I am sure both are very capable of creating a nice tabs for links and application shortcuts.
But, yeah, I am more interested in the most light weight, super fast, smallest memory foot print
Please if you have experience with this tools, let me (us) know your honest opinion.
Thanks !
i tried both iLauncher seem to be lighter and faster but spb pp appeared nicer and with advance options - during a search on the net i found that if you delete the themes added by spb and if you disable the safe mode option it will work faster - i did so but i did not notice any change but this can be partially psychological
I used to use SPB Pocketplus, but nowadays I'm in for iLauncher...
I heard SPB wasn't very friendly to my battery and memory/cpu...
iLauncher can do most of the things SPB can too, so no real loss there...
Sorry I can't be any more specific about the real (dis)advantages of both on battery/memory/cpu usage/leakage...

Hi there,
I just got my diamond yesterday and I am very happy with it but some things really annoy me:
- Why did HTC took the green flashing light out of this device? Every HTC Device I used before had it (Himalaya, Magician, Prophet, StrTrk, Hermes). I really loved it, same with the Bluetooth LED...
Now the question: Is it really gone or maybe near the light sensor and can be activated via software ?
- The sensitivity of the Touchscreen is not as good as it was on my hermes. Where can I set this ?
- Why are the symbols in the taskbar for battery, 3G, G, E etc. so ugly ? They looked much better in the QVGA Versions. Any way to change them?
- Why are the ringtones so low on volume in comparison to hermes ? I hardly recognize when it rings in my pocket and I am in my car. Any way to make it louder ?
- The Startmenu is WAY to big, is it possible to make it in the old QVGA style ? Same for the context-menus. I don't like such big "recently used program icons" in my startmenu :-/
In all other manners it is a top device, I love it! Even the small battery is no problem for me because my hermes did not last longer than a day either. That was because of 3G Direct Push.
Any suggestions to my questions ?
Thanks in advance!
Kind regards from germany,
T.Sami

I can answer to this question. If you go to Settings, System and TouchFlo you can make it in the old style. I thinks the bigger one is much better because it allow you to use the menu with fingers.
I'm a fan of the battery gauge style used by batti / vistahide / etc and would like to run a similar display on my XP laptop. Frequently I'm running an app in full screen, and loose track of batter status (as displayed by a widgit / in the taskbar / etc). I'd really like a gauge that's always on top, and consumes a few pixels accross the top of the screen to show me what I want to know.
Any ideas?
ooo that does sound like a good idea. who made vistahide anyway?
Try "Notebook Hardware Control (NHC)", it's simple to use, require small resources, but powerfull enough..
What is Notebook Hardware Control (NHC)
With Notebook Hardware Control you can easily control the hardware components of your Notebook
Notebook Hardware Control helps you to:
- control the hardware and system power management
- customize the notebook (open source ACPI Control System)
- prolong the battery lifetime
- cool down the system and reduce power consumption
- monitor the hardware to avoid system failure
- make your notebook quiet
Easy to use, friendly program surface and for free
NHC isn't only very powerful; it has a friendly program surface, it's easy to use and free for private use. A large number of users appreciate these advantages and NHC becomes one of the leading programs to control the power and hardware of modern notebooks.

This does a whole lot more than just battery status but it may be worth a look. Doesn't install to the top of the screen as such but can be configured to stay on top wherever you put it.
GKRellm
just rainmeter. do not search for ****ty apps.
This is not the official site but i cannot remember where i got it now, i feel one of the more useful ones in the realms of the net

Thanks chris10230. This isn't exactly what I had in mind (displays on the side not the top like vistabar/batti) but it gets the job done.
The other solutions would probably work too, but I suspect at a higher resource cost.
Thanks to everyone that contributed
Elegant solution for Vista/Win 7
Although it does not help me directly, since I'm running XP, this is a neat solution that uses cursor modification and a few other display mechanisms to get the job done

I would think this would be related to performance in general. So if the phone is performing well, it rotates quickly. If it's performing poorly, it rotates slowly...
There's a few things you can try to improve performance. Overclocking helps a little, but it's not a huge difference. Keeping apps from auto-starting on boot helps, I'm not sure of a simple way on how to do it... Suggested method for preventing apps from auto-starting.
That same user also uses an app called 'DroidWall' to prevent apps from connecting without permission. Might help with performance as well (not sure, but it can't hurt).
Anything that will slow down your phone has to go. Widgets are killer I've found... As much as I like them, they made the home screen SO slow. On that same tangent of home screens, have you looked at different launchers? The stock 'Launcher2' is kinda slow itself. I like ADW myself - there's many others out there (Zeam, GoLauncher EX, Launcher Pro to name a few...)

So it rotates quickly portrait -> landscape, but landscape -> portrait is slow...? I don't think I've heard of that one... Anyone else?
I'm not sure what can be done to fix that to be honest... new one to me .

Very useful for gamers who just want to turn brightness up, check notification and things like that.
Thanks for linking to the app, i definitely think this is something google should have built into android. I was looking for something like this a few weeks ago, too, and here it is.
However, i think it belongs in the Themes and Apps section, development is based around ROMs and Kernel modifications, though if a feature like this could be built into custom ROMs it would be priceless.
I agree. This should be a standard feature for Android, well, as for now this app does the job
Wow, really useful app I've come across in awhile. It was always a pain to switch back into the homescreen.
My only concern is that it takes up 12 MB of RAM. I think it could be more optimized? Well everything has a price.
I'm assuming this would constantly have to run in the background. Wouldn't that deplete battery life? ICS's battery life isn't amazing as is so I am not sure I want to make it worse...
FYI, there is a built-in option in MIUI to enable this feature
it uses too much ram 10mbs for this small app is a bit much.
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
6.7mb here. Doesn't use any extra battery. No complaints here.
Did not notice any decrease in performance of my phone, nothing noticeable anyway. Supercharge your phone to compensate if you want.

I doubt this consumes extra battery life; if so, it's negligent. RAM used does not consume more power; only CPU cycles do.
Besides, if this app was programmed well. It would only be active if it notices that the foreground app was in fullscreen mode.
Very usfull for me,thanks to the creator
This is my app. It doesn't do polling from system to get full screen change. It is triggered when there is size change in window. So it doesn't do anything until it is called by system for adjusting its size.
This feature definitely does need to be implemented stock. It's a wonder that it hasn't already really.
Thanks!
I am currently resisting an upgrade, most of reviews are just give you 10 new changes but hardly anyone talks about any missing features.
Anyone can provide their list of Pros & Cons?
if none of the issues raised in some of the threads are a problem as they were not for me then go for PIE

faster, smoother (after 14 days to settle down), 10% higher GPU scores on average from diff test/games from the new driver, better CPU management (still far from the maximum possible tho), better single hand usage, better portrait typing (the keyboard is lifted, my hands don't hurt anymore when typing a lot in portrait), overall the one UI is good, battery life is a little bit less for me - most likely because of the new CPU control for more performance, multiwindow is killed - it's like the google stock solution (no swipe from corner to pop-out, no fast split scree with swipe up recents and hold, no menu between the split apps so you can't switch their place without cutting youtube video etc, no hold down from recents to quickly popout or split - you need the stupid menu), sound system is worse and not following google compatibility guide (if it was not samsung, google would not let them cert that version as it won't pass their checklist) - leading to worse audio from something like poweramp hi-res + I feel overall the sound is worse vs oreo (both speakers and headphones). Overall a worth update, because of the single hand usage and the pure smoothness/speed... but it's not a pure WIN-WIN.
I use multi window, edge panel, resize window and good lock
Looks like pie is not for me and I dont have any issues with Oreo
Probably will stick with that
Yeah, I'd say you're just going to get the same responses that are in the other half dozen similar threads. Personally I love Pie. There's a minority that doesn't. Every single one of them started s thread to ask others if they also disliked it and wanted to downgrade.
