MS Voice Command - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Does voice command come with WM6 or is it something you have to add to the Kaiser yourself? Anyone have any opinions, good or bad, about its functionality?

You have to purchase and install it yourself...
And then you have to make some minor tweaks.
Look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=333260

Is voice dialing working?
e.g., are commands/prompts routed to/from the headset (rather than thru the Kaiser's speakers like on the Hermes)?
Would love to know if the hacks can be avoided and if the product finally works as advertised...

My experience is that yes - the commands and prompts are indeed routed to my BT headset... However, I think a few folks have had other experiences for some reason..
It works for me though - without registry hacks.

It works if you have the Microsoft Bluetooth stack (most HTC devices, if not all). Doesn't work if you dont (Blackjack, for example).

i installed MS VC 1.6...and it will give name over headset.....

Same question here. Had to do this tweak to get it going.

did not work for me.....

anybody knows how to adjust the speed to the notification being read. female voice is just too fast when reading sms messages.

i just installed ms voice command on my att tilt and the sms and emails do not readout. i have all the settings set like my friends dash and it still does not work like his. his dash has WM6.

Mine works... so far.
I am not having any problems with the Tilt and original rom. But I am also using a BT stereo headset. I wonder how much that makes a difference. I will test some more and try and post the results.

i can use voice commands to access programs and make calls. it wont read out my sms or email. i tried using my wired headset and nothing. my BT is charging. i'll try it later.

OK, this is really getting me frustrated. I had VC working fine on my 8525, but can't seem to get it to work on the Tilt. I don't have that registry key in the registry. All I have is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand and it's empty.
What is really driving me crazy is that I had used VC1.6BTFix.CAB fix when I first got my Tilt and could have sworn it worked, but a few days latter, it no longer worked and nothing (not even a hard reset) will fix it. When I do install that fix, I do get a path setting under the above key, but it's to a different app. Changing it to Voicecmd.exe doesn't fix it either.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,

Jeff,
This is what I have done in the past with my 8525 and that registry key and it might work for you. Change the path to end with "VoiceCommand.exe" instead of "Voicecmd.exe." If I remember correctly, both programs are in that directory.
Give that a shot.

Thanks Brad. I read here that people have gotten it to work just by installing it on the Tilt with no hacks or registry edits, so I disabled the BTfix program, uninstalled it, rebooted and the darn thing works! I never tried it right out of the box since it was known that it didn't work on the 8525. I just assumed that it wouldn't work unaltered on the Tilt, but it does.

S9's and Tilt

I just got my Moto s9's and the sound is great. One problem i have though is that i hear a LOT of static when the sound is high. How can i fix this? Second thing is what are the best registry edits combos that work for the loudest and clearest sound for listening to audio and talking through them?
I also realized that when i press the right button, it pops up the speech recognition thing and i want it to pop up voice command, is it possible? Thanks a lot.
edit: there is also a lot of skipping.
????
I here that sound too.......now that you said something I'm not crazy....I wish there is a fix .....my S9 are awsome
skipping chang the bit pool to a lower setting...
Great, thank you. now i have another problem, i can't get it to reconnect after it's idle! the only thing that works is the voice thingy and that's it. no music, no calls, no nothing. this happened after i installed the a2dp fix.
Nvm, i got the skipping worked (thanks mike!) now i have the static sound on my TIlt and it's horrible, on my 8525 it's PERFECT. i also can't get voice command to come on instead of the voice recognition thingy. so any help would be great, thanks.
also, i can't get them to work on my pc, i have the widcomm drivers but they would connect and then disconnect, any ideas?

ok.....the noise that you get from the headset can be fixed try to 1) delete your H9's from device and repair them to your phone...pretend you just got them and your pairing them for the first time...see if that works....2) uninstall your AD2P fix......sometimes putting a fix cab or a zip file and unzipping it and applying it to your phone screws up yor phone's ability to run properly 3) how long ago did you get your H9's.....if you can return them or exchange them do so.
just a thought ....I put many rom's on my phone and they are awsome..BUT.....I've come to a understanding ...I had to replace my tilt once because I THINK it couldn't take the flashing.....You know what I did .....everything looks the same, like I flashed my rom ...but I didn't, all I installed we're cab file NO FLASHING OF ROM and my phone has run fine since then...I mean everything.....I'm not saying not to change your rom ...you can, but everything now latey, things come in cab format.....also uninstall and reinstall voice command.....then soft reset....my voice command over rides voice dial .........private msg me and if you want we can talk over these phone problems by e-mail or live person to person over our cell phones that's is fine with me

How I fixed the speakerphone on the Tilt

This relates to the problem of the speakerphone being virtually unusable on the ATT tilt. I was having the problem that seems to be very common with the speakerphone cutting in and out almost as if it were half duplex. The other party could only hear every other word and it was virtually unusable. Additionally, I could not get the speakerphone to work with Skype at all. All of my searches led to a dead end with nobody able to figure out how to fix this. There was one poster that said the problem was fixed by installing MS Voice Command, though no one else was able to repeat that.
Anyways, I decided to try MS Voice Command. I installed it and really did not like it. It was less accurate than Cyberon Voice speed dial. The digitized voice was very difficult to understand. I also had difficulty getting it to work with my BT headset. Other than that it was pretty nice not to have to work through voice tags. But I really did prefer CVSD so I went about uninstalling MSVC and resetting all the registry changes I had made. Unfortunately, this did not revive CVSD. I then found the cab to reinstall it. It still didn't work. I uninstalled and reinstalled CVSD. No go. I then found a patch cab to restore the registry settings. That sort of worked and I was able to use CVSD but it did not have the usual beep sound to let you know when to speak the command. Anyways, I did some further research and was directed to the Cyberon web site, where there was a patch to upgrade to the latest version. Finally got it all back to working status! That was two days ago.
Today, I was messing around with Skype and did a test call to the echo number and sure enough it heard me through the speakerphone! It repeated my test message very clearly. I then made a Skype call and the other party heard me loud and clear. This was a good sign... Lastly, I made a regular phone call and put the call on speaker. Unbelievably, the speakerphone was now fully operational! I could be heard loud and clear, no breaking up as before. The quality, I was told was not the greatest, sounding like I was on a speakerphone, but was coming in perfectly clear and no half duplex like behavior! Problem fixed!
So, although I can't tell you exactly what fixed the problem, this episode points to some sort of conflict with CVSD. Or to the older version of it. I would think that anyone with the speakerphone problem should first try upgrading to the latest version of CVSD with this patch located on the Cyberon site.
http://www.cyberon.com.tw/Technical3.php
If that doesn't fix it, then you might want to uninstall CVSD altogether, then reinstall and apply then apply the patch. As I said, I'm not sure exactly where the problem got corrected, but this is clearly what fixed it for me! It would be interesting to know if others have the same results...
Here is the cab to re-install CVSD (Voice_Tri.cab) and the registry patch (CVSD_Patch.cab) should you decide to do a complete uninstall/reinstall. The last update cab you can get directly from Cyberon site mentioned in post #1.
I hope this helps...

Did you delete CVSD first then reinstall?? Or did you just install the new version over the old? As I said originally, I'm not sure what actually got fixed, only that it did get fixed after doing this... I was hoping that it could be replicated by someone else or that we could figure out just what it was that was causing the problem in the first place!

So that it doesnt get flooded and lost with the new threads being made every day. therefore i assume that someone will see it, and has the same problem and installs the above remedy and the reads Moddin's post: Has someone else tried this with any success yet?
then he remembers that it worked for him therefore posting back and confirming that it actually works.
hence why imperium wrote: kick.....bump.
then imperium sees there is a new comment and seeing that it worked for the other guy, he decides to take the plunge and maybe it works for him too.
he then goes and talks on the phone happily ever after.
hope this answered your question.
hi,
You can call me noob, how to delete CVSD?
I am pretty sure I installed it first from the cab and then it was in the uninstall list. I had removed/changed a bunch of settings in the registry when I tried to get Voice Command working so I did the install. When it didn't work I uninstalled then reinstalled and then did the patch which got me pretty close to being fully operational. The last thing I did was update directly from the Cyberon web site.
I'm using a TyTN II but I find that my unit has Cyberon Voice Commander instead of Cyberon Voice Speed Dial. Does this patch work with the CVC?
CVSD is only uninstalled if you have it installed to begin with. Go to start, settings, system tab, remove programs. It should be on that list. I'm going to try this right now. My girlfriend hangs up on me whenever I talk on speaker phone because she can't hear what I'm saying and gets frustrated. This could potentially ruin relationships and marriages!!
so this fix is only for TyTN II's which has CVSD installed? Does not apply to mine then. I thought all bundled software is standard. Anyways, do update us when you're done! Yesterday I tried disabling the Microphone AGC and it sort of improved the speaker phone a lot.
Hi:
The only link which will work for me on the Cyberon page is:
Cyberon Voice Speed Dial bluetooth headset connection problem
Q : The Bluetooth recognition performance is poor on HTC P3300. What can I do to solve this problem?
A : This problem could be fixed by the update Cyberon Voice Speed Dial Patch. Please following the instruction in the Readme file and install the Patch.
Download update patch <----------------------
Is this the correct patch that was mentioned?
If not, could someone please attach it here?
Also, I have Voice Speed Dial on my Tilt, but it is not listed on the remove programs list. Can I simply install the newer version without having first uninstalled the older version?
Thanks!
If you are trying to fix your speakerphone I recommend following the instructions in the first two posts. The patch is in post 2...

I would have given up after 5 seconds of Google!

Confirmed works fine, after following these steps, on v1615 Vodafone (Kaiser).
(Just for info - when replacing files, recommend you do this in Safe Mode [Spb Pocket Plus has Safe Mode facility])

I'm not sure what I did wrong but when I get a call, no VC, no ring-tone, nothing. So when I uninstalled the *Fix* it also removed VC from the settings and I can no longer access it. I'll try re-instaling VC and see what happens..

Attentuation is fine at 1.
Put InitVol to 40.
Also - whilst you're at it, go to this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Speech\Voices
and change "DefaultTTSRate"
default is 4... this is the SPEED. Increase the number to increase the speed. Lower number = slower.
It still isn't very loud. Seems the same as when I had "initVol" at 7 (I also tried it at 3)
Any ideas ?

Just to prevent any confusion, this .cab is just a repackaging of the 4 files offered by Kavi here last year. In addition, his is a repost of an earlier posting (which I can't now find).
In any event, these files are simply versions of the files from MSVC 1.6.17913. So, if you are running a version prior to that, copying these files over will fix it.
For mor information see the MSVC guide link in my sig. I am trying to clear up confusion with all the advertised MSVC fixed floating around.

[SOLVED] How to have VoIP and GPS working in Diamond !

Hi,
I think it can be a solution for everyone who wants to use M$ VoIP and GPS in his Diamond (till today if you use VoIP, GPS goes dead).
IMHO problem was one file called dnsapi.dll in VoIP cab which overwrite original one in ROM. It caused that GPS goes dead.
I've removed this file from my OEM package and cooked a ROM with VoIP. I tested this and VoIP and GPS is working without any problems.
I using only OEM packages - if someone can make a cab file from attached OEM package and test it, maybe we will have a solution for everyone !
[2008-08-08] UPDATE - CABs can be found here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2497988&postcount=8
Sound great!!
This is what i´ve been waiting for... fring does the trick... but BAD.
Sweet.
Good idea, a shame I don't know how to make a .cab.
None of the VoIP programs I tested work on the diamond (even Fring doesn't work properly...)

I'm not talking about Skype and Fring - issue was with VoIP drivers from M$. With that you can dial via e.g. Halonet from normal dialpad.

Aaaah, thanks Saves me from Hardreset because the VOIP drivers wouldn't uninstall anymore... Have something in return: Here you have two CABs which do not install a dnsapi.dll, and tested them on my diamond. Works perfectly. You even dont have to reset the phone...
If feedback is positive, maybe the OP could change topic into "[solved]..."?
One tiny thing left to do: Change the ipdialplan.xml to make VOIP dial those "+1 (999) 1212 - 1212" numbers as well ^^

I've tested in HTC GPS Tool and Automapa (Polish navigation).
Anyone tried CAB prepared by mcseven?
I used tomtom 7, outdoor gps and mobile terminal emulator to see nmea records on COM4 directly. all 3 programs were running simultaneously and were receiving GPS.
I also tried to connect the VOIP to my asterisk, works as well, but cannot call any +1* numbers or numbers with brackets, since I dont know how to change the ipdialplan.xml in /windows...
I didn't know wich one of the .cab I should install so I installed both; I started with the drivers, it did nothing then I installed WM6Voip, it seemed to work. So I installed SIPconfigTool to configure my connection and I tested TomTom, the GPS was detected (whereas it wasn't with the original WM6Voip). Nevertheless, I tried to use my VoIP account over 3G but it couldn't connect (whereas Fring can connect).
works fine using tomtom 7 and GoSIP...
Yes, possibly the built-in VOIP cannot use STUN functionality, and fring can. I believe that to be a firewall issue.
However, now I seem to have that 5 seconds silence bug. I establish a connection, but 5 seconds into a call the diamond ceases to transmit voice. Receiving voice from the remote party however continues flawlessly. No Headset connected and not put into a docking station. Has anyone a similar problem or even a solution to that?

Well, yes. Use a program called SIP config (anyone you like, I use this one) to program your provider settings into the phone. Then make sure to visit Settings->Phone->"Internet" Tab and change it from "Never" to a setting of your liking. After that (and pressing ok in the top right corner) it should register with your VOIP provider as soon as there is a data connection available. If your phone places a call via VOIP, it will ring a short audible "beep" prior to connecting. I found no way to tell it explicitly "use cellular network" or "use VOIP network" for placing a call. Perhaps this will be added in a later ROM.
However, now I seem to have that 5 seconds silence bug. (...)

I believe that to be a firewall issue as well. Yesterday I went home from work and put the phone directly into my home Wifi net with direct connection to my asterisk server. Everything works fine.
Today I used another access point at work, and it worked fine as well, so if you are having trouble getting voice to the remote party it most likely is your firewall's fault.
btw I have not found a way to use the internal=headset speaker, it will always use the loudspeaker for received audio.
wow, big THANKS.
works fine for me. Could connect to my Axon PBX with SIP and GPS also runs fine (Tested with tomtom7 and WMMiniGPS).
I realy waited for that and had also two hard resets behind me previous during tests
It almost works for me. I can connect, but my voice doesn't arrive to the other side of the line at all. Neither does the voice of the other side arrive to me. The line is open, but seems 'dead'.... what am I doing wrong?
ipdialplan.xml for sipgate in Germany
Fantastic, with the new cabs now GPS and WM6VoIP works. Attached a dialplan which I modified last year for my Kaiser. It works with my sip provider in Germany (sipgate) and you can dial local plan, leading 00 or + or 0. It may work also for others.

Great job!

MS Voice Command on the Fuze

HI all,
I have setup MS Voice command on my Fuze to announce the name or phone number of the person calling on in coming calls. On my Tilt, it would announce the name either thru the speaker or my BT headset. With the Fuze, it will not. Is anyone else having this problem.
Also, with my Tilt, my ring tones would play thru my BT Headset and it will not on the Fuze. I don't know if this are related. I am using the BT headset on both.
Thanks
billf.
Yes, I'm having this same problem, and it is making me consider returning my Fuze and sticking with my tilt. Unless HTC or someone comes up with a fix within the next 2 weeks, my Fuze is going back. The only other bug I have noticed is that auto-correct does NOT work for the keyboard. It's supposed to automatically add in apostrophes for words, such as "can't, don't, won't" etc. Also, the word suggestion never shows up when I type, like it did on my Tilt. Of course it gives you suggestions with T9 turned on, but that's not the same as word suggestion. It would provide suggestions based on previous typing habits, and even predict entire phrases it thought I was going to type. Anyway....if someone figures out how to fix these problems, please let me know ASAP! Thanks.
I just noticed this tread. I too am having the same problem with it not announcing. My Tilt did it just fine and I have the Fuze VC set up exactly the same way as my Tilt, but all I get is my ringtone and no announcement.
Check your settings. I think you have to announce notifications using bluetooth hands free if available. and uncheck "only durning free time"
I think that may work.

That is the way I have it set up. No go. What is weird is that my ring tone plays over the bluetooth headset, but the computer generated voice doesn't speak.
it has to be a bad version or something.
also..last night i tried to install the cab i've used for over a year on top of the at&t version thinking it would overwrite the necessary files. no go. it corrupted the phone and had to hard reset to fix.

I'm glad that you decided to be a "guinea pig!" Because I was going to try this today! I was going to re-install the .CAB that came from my Tilt. But I'm glad to see if that doesn't work. In order to find a solution, do you think I should call AT&T or HTC? Which one would give me the solution? Because I only have 25 days left before my Fuze is non-returnable.
Hmm I never tried it yet on the fuze with my BT. I'll try it and report back.
Ok crap. Yeah. It doesnt "voice" announce. I never noticed it because I can dial from headset and even number dial from headset and it'll work. I can hear it repeating the number back.
BUT its not like its not working... If I remove the announce incommming calls, it makes my phone ring, but in my earpiece I hear a tone to tell me I have a phonecall. When I enable announce incomming calls, my phone vibrates and I hear my ringtone in my ear, and faintly I can hear that "tone" I heard before. So it sounds like the voice side of things isnt working.
Ok tried one last thing before my BT headset died. Doh!
When it died, my phone announced the caller. So it does work. Its just not working from the BT headset, you hear a bell sound or something.
Also, I just noticed my cars BT doesn't show battery of the phone. When my Tilt was on the car BT, it would show the battery remaining.
MS Voice Command
Check out the MS Voice Command guide on WinMo-Experts. There might be an answer to your problems in there.

Thanks for the link. I dont think it solved anything we're getting. Since Fuze has it built in, I dont think we can overwrite the files.

Guess I didn't notice, but dose not work for me either. I do enjoy that on the Tilt, but I more like the Tilt for the message and email voice notification.

PS. I'm simply not keeping the Fuze. I'll stick with my Tilt and TF2. love the whole setup and the speed of the touchflo usingHyperDragon Raphael
Signal is average compaired to my Tilt, when testing out T-Mobile connection. On 3G, I'm constantly around 2 bars(but it spurts to full so I know its working) So I think Hawaii is still bad with 3G is some areas.
I use VC ALOT. So I'm amazed I never noticed this issue where it wont say the caller in my ear.
I'm not sure if I'll keep the phone/drop ATT/both.
Please someone fix this! I dunno if it helps, but all you hear is a bell sound in the background of your normal phone ringtone. I know thats from the MSVC. The only thing not working is the announcement of whos calling. I think everything else is working. I can voice dial, recieve calender announcements and appoinments, etc from my BT headset.
Oh, not just BT headset. It won't announce it from the phone either.
I even did a "bloat free" installation.
the fix is on pdaphonehome.com i had the same problem with my sprint touch pro. weird since the diamond doesn't have this problem. you have to edit the registry to use the wav file instead of the default. only side effect with the fix is the phone will ring once and VC will announce the rest of the duration.

Eww,junk fix. I'll check it out tho. While not a problem when I have my headset, it would be if i had my phone sitting on a table.
Reg hack
I copied this from pdaphonehome.com....kuddos to the person that figured this
out. Kind of a hacky way to get it to work though. Perhaps the brains around
here can figure it out.

This isn't a complete solution - but it's an improvement.
With this fix - the ring tone will play for a second and then be cut off by the call announcement. The announcement will be at a lower volume. The announcement will repeat - the ring tone will not be played again.
NOTE THAT YOU SHOULD ATTEMPT THIS FIX ONLY IF YOU ARE COMFORTABLE IN UPDATING YOUR REGISTRY.
Change the following registry keys:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\TTSAnnounce\Category
change from VoiceCommand1 to Ring
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\TTSAnnounce\Script
change from as5p to v0p (that's v-zero-p) - for vibrate & ring, or p (ring only)
The above fix seems to get the announcements reliably, and doesn't break the set vibrate/set ringer features in the TF3D interface.
Hopefully we can find a better solution - that will restore the full functionality of Voice Command incoming call announcements - and not need this hack.
Another option is to manually overwrite the ringtone file name:
HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\Sound
change to \Application Data\Volatile\TTSCallerID.wav
This fix replaces the ringtone with the call announcement - and at full volume.
BUT this solution has several problems, including breaking the set vibrate/set ringer feature in TF3D.
From reading that, if I DON'T use the TF3D ring/vibrate, but use the windows mobile one, I should be fine by doing the second hack listed above? I think I could live with that as I eventually will kill the TF3D just so I can get the calender of my Pocket Informant to show instead. Only thing I like was the Weather and clock of the TF3D anyways and ATT crippled the clock by removing the animation.
Doe anybody know how to do the 2nd option? Not sure if I'm supposed to delete the whole registry line or somehow add to that line?
