Keyboard input delay after sliding out - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I was trying out Kaiser in a shop and there was a very annoying problem with the keyboard. I would tap some text field, slide the keyboard out, start typing, but the characters wouldn't appear until about 5 seconds or so. The cursor in the text field would just blink in one spot and then all the characters just appeared all at once (at least none were lost). Does this happen to anyone else?

Same deal here. Worst, the word detection sometimes get activated and the first few letters get auto-completed w/o me asking them to be.
Kind'a annoying when your device cant keep up with you.

on another forum somebody suggested turning off word prediction to greatly increase response time

That indeed seems to help a bit.

How to turn off word detection?

Its sad to me how lazy people get. Simple searching the forum will resolve 80% of the questions asked in new threads. Some people just don't even try.

irc is just as bad if not worse

Lagging text messaging

I'm not sure why it does this, but after a while, my text messaging starts lagging.
I'll finish a sentence, and it'll still be typing it. And sometimes it just takes about 2 seconds before it starts typing anything.
Is this the drivers related issue?
No Its NOT a driver issue.
If you look around you would find all you need to do is....
DISABLE XT9!!!
THis helps with Keyboard lag.
Also, If you click reply then flip open your keyboard. Sometimes you just have to wait. Remember this is a small little 400MHz processor. Not a Intel Duo Core Chip.
Alright
What exactly is XT9? As you can probably tell, im somewhat of a n00b. :/
If someone could help me with my lagging txts, and if someone could give me some link or info on how to hold a SMS Log (I cant find any legit links online) that would be supreme!

"T9, that old friend who makes mobile messaging slightly less frustrating, has made a big resurgence at this year's 3GSM with an extreme new look and attitude. T9 developer Tegic just announced a partnership with Samsung, who will use the new XT9 system in some of their upcoming devices. XT9 takes all the magic of regular T9 and turns it up a notch by adding stylus support, next-letter prediction and regional error correction, which compensates for users with fat thumbs mashing the wrong key on tiny QWERTY keyboards. Even more exciting, Tegic announced that they are working on XT9 2.0, which will incorporate speech recognition capabilities and Chinese handwriting recognition, to complement the handful of languages and special characters already supported." Okay, so now that I know what XT9 is, lol how do I disable it?
I cant even find it in the FileExplorer program that my certain ROM runs.
AND still.., what program can I use to keep the logs of my Text Messages

Speed Up Your Keyboard (Fixes Lag On Hardware Keyboard)
Another one of those fancy things search would have found.
yea i used it but i didnt find anything..thnx guys it helps alot..but its still a bit off lol..or maybe its just me
If you take your time reading the WIKI and FAQ, it'll be there ..
You know I've installed this and still encountered issues like what he is mentioning.
This file has fixed the issue of weird spacing when typing (such as "I love you" looking like "Il ovey ou" which was extremely frustrating), I've still had the general overall WM "Lag" of when typing, I'm going much faster than the phone can apparently handle, and I just have to wait a second for it to catch up. It will catch up correctly unless I've made typos, but yea I think he is talking about a legit issues that the RR Speed Increase doesn't fix on all roms.
Jason
Mine used to do what you are describing, I would get 3 to 4 words ahead of what the screen showed and would have to stop and wait on it to catch up to check for misspelled words.
The way I fixed it on my device was to go to settings/input/word completion and uncheck suggest words when entering text. Since I have taken the word suggestion off I have not had a problem. It keeps up with me just fine now.
thanks boss1234! I was having this same exact problem, and I did try the lag fix as per the other thread and was still encountering the laginiess. Turns out it was caused by the word completion. Unchecked it and now it will actually keep up with me.

Disable T9 ..... search for the cab to make it easy. ALSO , HTC's ez input keyboard also causes many of the lagging issues. All of this has been covered so many times that its annoying to have to answer this for the 10th time. Everyone here is right. Read..... its here.
The little button on the top of your screen brings up a GOOGLE search window. All i typed was " Keyboard Lag Kaiser" and look at allllll these results.
This was so hard
It took me more time to write this post in fact...........

Another case of search before you create a new post. Closing thread as this one is obviously turning nasty and we definitely don't need that...

Feature Request : Light Keyboard on Textbox Select

Figured I'd throw this out here...
Problem: When I have my keyboard open and I select any text entry box, I then have to press a random key or spin the trackball to get the keyboard to light up. Since I often use the trackball to do this, I end up moving my cursor out of the textbox and have to reselect it
What I'd like to see: The phone seems like it is smart enough to know when a textbox entry is selected and then check to see if the keyboard is slid out. If these two conditions are met, light up the keyboard. Simple?
Can anyone here write a hack to do this?
I second this great idea!!!
thirded!
bump! 10ch
We need this I agree!
Yup exact same problem for me. Perhaps not a 'permanent' light up... Just increase the timeout to say.. 20 seconds
You should be able to choose that as a setting for timing, so you can have it on for as long as your keyboard is out or timed etc. would be very useful

umm personally i think it'd be better the way the other guy said it.the one where it it'll come back on when a textbox is selected. cause i tihnk if you just keep it lit up longer it'll waste more battery even though your not using the keyboard at the moment. (tho im not sure which wastes more battery, the setting for it to light up when it needed, or keeping it lit up longer)
either way, i'd love to see this feature too!
I've got the same problem myself, very good idea. I've just passed this onto cyanogen via twitter and his google code page.

SMS - 2-5 seconds to load cursor, slow input from keyboard

Anyone have the problem where when you select a contact and then text it takes 2-5 seconds to load the screen with the cursor? And the cursor itself is pretty slow to get input from the keyboard.
I'm pretty sure my keyboard itself needs cleaning as I've seen in other threads. However in Win 6.1 and now 6.5 with autocomplete of sentences on or off I still see the huge delay before I can type. Something feels wrong about this, anyone else experience this and have any advice?
usually turning off any autocomplete or t9 should speed up typing delay
well - stuff like that happens in Windows Mobile
theres a registry cab file somewhere here that fixes this.. do a search
Hmm yeah I have text correction set to None so no prediction or sugesstion.
I'm running windows mobile 6.5 is there anywhere else I could go.
Just counted now and from the time the screen acknowledge my click on text to the white screen and cursor loading is 7 seconds. My god windows mobile grrrr!
Everything else on the phone is pretty fast but wow 7 seconds!
royalbloodvi - I replied this morning before seeing your reply.
I've looked for cabs, registry tweak etc searching here and on google and I haven't had any luck. I've tried w/o quotes stuff like "SMS slow registry tweak" "txt slow" etc etc but no luck any pointers?

LOL. You're a funny man... telling him to "do a search" after all those ****worthy threads You've started.
anyway...
I don't know if it's going to work for You mate, but worked like a charm on my tytn 2 back in the past.
Hey, not sure if you tried this, but there's also a cab, or registry hack which disables the text "counter" in sms which also decreases the delay.
Here's there XDA thread which links to the original posting at ppcgeeks:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581901
I have it cooked into my rom and it does help. I don't even miss the counter cause everyone I know either has unlimited text, or doesn't text at all.
Also, whenever you want to send a text make sure your Xperia is in landscape before going into the sms program or hitting reply. It helps a bit there too.
hope all that helps.
peace

yea thats the one..
Thanks I ran the cab and followed the directions about thread_sms.htm
All I saw in thread_sms.htm was <Inbox:ComposeBodyCount> which I assume is not the count of characters and my unexperia rom already removed that.
Having it in landscape mode prior to clicking someone's name definitely helps although first time I do it there's still some 5 secs or so of delay. But if I go back to another contact there's none. I'll keep playing a bit but thanks much better.
Day by day I will actually make my phone usable!
Edit: Also it's great how original X1 users have to wait and use cooked roms to get features from X2 to actually make the X1 "ok"

[Q] Note is buggin

Why can i never just get a cool phone and it just WORK?!?!
So i have the Note, and it is buggy as all hell.
The typing is about as accurate as my old HTC Touch HD.
When i click on the search forum tab the text entry screen pops up, i type 1 letter then the text entry screen just vanishes.
*Apparently I posted this in the wrong section earlier and upset someone, and was told I was not posting civilized questions, so to you I am sorry
Cheers!
Okay back to business.
I was trying to set up an order for broadband on the phone and when i try to center the chat screen so i can type it keeps vanishing half way off of the screen and wont center
when chatting with another company their text would show but my entry window would not.
And WHY is this keyboard soooooo un-accurate. i never had issues with my iPhone text entry and the buttons were no where near this large. Am i typing too fast?
Also there are times where I am trying to enter data into a certain field then it highlights the one beneath it, crazy!
any suggestions?
thanks
